I took Lexapro for several years without many side effects. Yawing and sleep problems. Then I had an aortic anysrem and kept taking the Lexapro. Then for money savings I switched to Celexa. I started losing weight, great. Then I start talking like a drunken sailor. I couldn't find any symptoms of speech problems so I figure it was a stoke. MRI says no stoke. I am getting off Celexa and SSRI's all together. I think the panic attacks i was having was my body telling me something was wrong and the doctor and I didn't listen. I just about cost me my life. NO TO CELEXA.

I have tried toprol xl, atenolol, and atacand hct. I just started taking lisinopril four weeks ago and finally my blood pressure went down dramatically (overnight) the first day - then remained lower even 4 weeks later. I did notice some light-headedness within hours of taking my first dose and had to get up slowly and just spent more time sitting down for the next few hours. At the time, it didn't occur to me it was from the lisinopril until I recommended my son try it for his hyperextension. He told me he was having the same light-headedness after taking his first dose. The side effect went away within hours and never came back. Both of us are very relieved to have finally found something effective for our hyperextension. Not to mention the money savings as it is a 'generic' ($5.00 vs $15.00 per month). I strongly recommend lisinopril, but like ALL medications - each of our bodies are different and will respond differently to every medication. If you develop adverse side effects - stop taking the stuff. My pharmacist recommended lisinopril to me, that's how I found out about it. I had to almost force my doctor to let me try it - he seemed more focused on the non-generics for whatever reason. I wasted a year and a half of my money and time and my body on stuff that never worked - please do not repeat my mistake. If your stuff aint working - force your doctor to try something else-immediately. Like we all know, high blood pressure is a silent killer. Lisinopril brought my blood pressure down to 'normal levels' overnite and also did the same for my son. My readings (while on other stuff) was: 155 over 90. Today it is 125 over 65.
