My daughter is 18yrs old. She has a 4 month old baby. She started taking NuvaRing 1 month ago. She has had major hair loss since then. Her hair is normally thick coarse and curly. She now looks as if she has a receding hairline, it goes about 3 inches back on her temples. She only has baby hair there now. I decided to look up NuvaRing, because her hair loss is definitely abnormal even after having a child. Very large globs of hair in the drain and then again in her brush DAILY! Hair loss does not run in my family or my husbands.
She was also crying for a whole week, everyday she was angry and sad. It was driving me crazy. Such extremes, I would rather have another grand baby than have my child go through that (hopefully I wont anytime soon). She is going back to using condoms, until we find something better.

I had my Mirena inserted in February, ever since I feel bloated & swollen all the time. I work out like crazy & can't seem to drop the last of my baby weight, in fact I've gained a little since I had it put in. My moods are horrible. I feel like I'm not enjoying my 6 month old baby because I just don't feel like doing anything. It's not PPD either. After reading everyone else experiences I'm thinking about having it removed ASAP!!! I just hope my Dr. doesn't convince me otherwise.

I have been reading these side effects for the past 2 nights and I am just livid... absolutely livid at the makers of this pill and the doctors who just hand it over (last year my former Ob gave me 3 sample boxes of it... a total of 6 months). Then when we complain the damn doctors won't listen... as if they know more about our bodies than we do!! What upsets me even more is the number of Ob's who are MEN.... who have NEVER taken a birth control pill and probably wouldn't wear a condom to save their life ... therefore they probably push their own wives into using this killer pill. Hmmm... sort of ironic that the one commercial used that song with the lyrics "Goodbye to you.... Goodbye to you oooo).
Women... I seriously urge you to report any doctor who has brushed you off to your state's medical board. You may think this is extreme... but it's what I did and the reason I did is because when complaints go here they are taken seriously. We must teach these doctors that it is not OK to give us the brush off when we need them.... and God only knows how many women are still being pushed into taking this pill. I work with a girl who takes it and even though I told her what happened to me she still takes it. Her doctor swears by it (of course HE does... He doesn't take the pill). It scares me because she has a 5 month old baby girl and I'm afraid of what that little girl would go through if she lost her mom. I feel that by logging complaints we can show doctors that it is imperative to pay better attention to us and hopefully we can not only improve health care but hopefully we can stop this abuse (I truly feel it's neglect on their part) and save more lives. How many women would be here today if their doctors had listened? It's time to involve the medical boards in this... I don't care how upset my former family doctor is with me I am so relieved that I did this... I feel that by using my voice I have been set free from keeping a terrible secret. Those of us who have survived the trauma of this pill should stand up for the women who have lost their lives (how scary to think that many more of us came closer to this than we realize). My next move is to research this lawsuit... I cannot wait until this pill is OFF THE MARKET!!!

My 11 month old baby was put on Singulair two days ago to help improve his ashma and severe allergy problems, he used to be a good sleeper (sleeps the entire night since he was 2 months old from 8 pm to 7 am) but last night he woke up at 10:30pm, 1:30 am, 3:45pm, and finally he was done with his sleeping at 6:30 am, also he has experienced nausea and vomit. I notice that his breathing is improving but how long I have to wait to really prove that he is getting any of all the terrible side effects I read in here?

YAZ BELLY!! anyone else got it? I have been on this pill for 9 months now & about to switch back to ortho novum product. Within the first mth of Yaz I developed a very round (almost menopausal or pregnant shape) lower belly. It has increased over the past 8 months to a ridiculous size that no pants fit but go figure....no weight gain for 7 months. How does ones shape change that much with no weight gain?? I actually am diligent on diet & workout 3 - 6 days a week. Have looked the same for 2 years til Yaz. Now I have to size up due to the belly & rollover. Also past 3 months I started to experience ovary pain that has become significantly worse. Ob/gyn brushed off my issues at first & passed me on to GI. I have had every stomach test & all good! Remarkable they say! So back to GI to switch this week. The only plus of this pill has been a much improved complexion & actually unlike the rest of you...increased sex drive. All I want to know is I am the only one with Yaz shape belly??

My mother actually stumbled across this site and encouraged me to look into a possible connection between my severe joint pain and the Mirena IUD. I had the IUD inserted in July of 2007. For a few months following I experienced breakthrough bleeding but that did eventually end. I suffered from some mild bouts of depression and would completely fly off the handle at my two children. Always linked it to stress. My sex drive became nil. But no other real problems to complain of. But this past Nov (2008), I started having pain in my wrists and hands. I type all day so I assumed carpel tunnel. Then we began a kitchen remodel. After one particularly tough day of demolition, moving and climbing up and down stairs, I became really stiff and sore. Of course I didn't think much of it until a week later when the pain was getting worse, not better. After a few more weeks, the joint pain became so severe that I could not get up and down off the couch, off the toilet, out of the car, without wincing in pain. I felt 90 years old! My doctor had prescribed Naproxen (which wasn't helping at all) and gave me a course of Prednisone. The Prednisone made me feel like a million dollars. Problem is, you can't stay on it. That's when we found this site. I immediately called my OB/GYN and had the IUD removed 2 days later. Of course, doc didn't believe this could be the issue (Surprise, Surprise!). Once the course of Prednisone was over, the joint pain gradually came back, albeit not as bad as the first time. RA and Lupus panels were negative, no thyroid disorder, no diabetes. Going to see a Rheumatologist next month so we'll see. I can mention that I already see a difference in my moods. I feel more patient with my children lately and that alone was worth having the stupid IUD out.

OH MY GOSH! I thought I was crazy until I found this site. Ok, I had my Mirena inserted January of 2007, and IMMEDIATELY experienced joint pain, pain in my hands and feet, and it's 22 months later.. the pain NEVER went away. I thought because I was a very hardcore athlete when I was younger, that this was par for the course, that I will be getting arthritis. I'm 34 years old. Crazy to say arthritis at 34? I think so. Well, I have been researching my symptoms for months and months online and gone to a few different doctors over this. My symptoms include chronic fatigue, headaches (on a good week 4 days out of the week), joint pain in my hands and feet, sensations in my hands and feet that feel like they are swollen (but they aren't), upper and lower back pain, heart palpitations, leg cramps, hair loss, ABSOLUTELY NO SEX DRIVE AT ALL, muscle fatigue, and I've gained 40 lbs since I had it put in... OUCH. NONE of this (except for headaches and some depression) was experienced before the Mirena. Funny, I never linked it to the Mirena. I've had my thyroid checked, been diagnosed with carpal tunnel (lol what about my feet? Good doc!) had blood sugar checked (nope, not diabetes!), well, now I'm on to getting checked for fibromyalgia. Kinda wondering though, if there is a link to fibromyalgia and Mirena, like it could induce it? Sounds like so many of you have the same symptoms, and many have thought the same things... fibro, diabetes, lupus, ms, hell, I even though lyme disease at one point. This is ridiculous... I'm having it out this week.

I was prescribed this medication on Thursday, 10/23. Ater taking my first dose, I immediately threw up. I read that this was a common side effect and thought nothing of it. I was fine after the 2,3, and 4th dose. Then I took the 5th dose on Monday night and woke up around 1:30 A.M. with severe burning and tingling in my feet. I put some muscle rub on it, and figured it was unrelated. I stand on my feet all day as a teacher and just thought my feet were tired. After taking the 6th dose, I once again woke up around 1:30 AM with very severe pain in my knees. I was in tears over the severity of this pain. Even now, my knees and feet are still hurting and tingling. I called the doctor today to see about getting my prescription changed, even though I only had 4 pills left to take, and she asked me to come in and be evaluated. Another co-pay, when they shouldn't have given me this poison to begin with! I am 24 years old, and have to take care of an 8 month old baby. My husband is scared out of his mind and so am I. I am way to young to have to deal with joint pain, and am praying that this isn't permanent damage!

I've had the mirena for 3 weeks. I got it when my non-hormonal IUD was starting to fall out, and my new doctor really pushed mirena on me. I was sure my insurance would cover it but, surprise surprise, I was billed a hefty $1,000 for this little thing inside me that is making me crazy!!! I have not stopped bleeding since it was "installed"--THREE weeks ago. I have backaches, headaches, and though I have not noticed any weight gain, I haven't noticed any loss either (even though I am at the gym 6 days a week and chasing around an 8 month old baby all day, you'd think I'd drop some pounds by now!). I have no sex drive anymore and though I have never been an emotional person, I am weepy all the time. My old IUD never made me feel this way, and I would NEVER have gotten a mirena had my doctor not absolutely insisted it is the "best form of birth control on the market". I'm so frustrated because I just got the mirena, haven't even paid the bills for it yet, and to remove it will be another huge bill I'm sure!

I have a 19 month old baby and she was prescribed Singulair when she was 15 months old after a bad bout of pneumonia. So she has been on it for 4 months and I haven't seen any severe side effects. To be honest, I am one of those people that follows whatever her pediatrician recommends and I trust that after 25 years as a doctor, he knows what he is doing. But all of these reports are now terrifying me. I haven't noticed any change in her behavior or moods, and she has always been a very rambunctious baby so if there has been any change (like increased aggression or anxiety) it is hard to tell in such a small child. Has anyone had any experience giving Singulair to a child this young (under 2)?

Im 20 years old, have a 5 month old baby girl, and have been on Loestrin for about 3 months now. Before i got pregnant, i was taking Loestrin and i was having HORRIBLE back pain, headaches and my husband thought i was CRAZY b/c of all the mood swings and crying. Needless to say, i quit taking the pill. About 4 months later, i was pregnant. After i had my baby, i decided to get back on BC b/c i do not want another baby right now. I started taking Loestin again, hoping it wasnt the pill that was makin me crazy. The first 2 months were ok. I started my period fine, i wasnt acting "crazy" and my back pain was normal(i have scoliosis). Now im on the 2nd week on my 3rd pack. I have been bleeding for about 8 days now, for no reason. I had my normal period and after the first week of the pack i just started bleeding out of no where. I also have noticed that i am very irritable and moody(like before) but much worse this time. I find myself getting aggrivated at my 5 month old and SHE CANT EVEN DO ANYTHING TO MAKE ME MAD!! SHE'S ONLY 5 MONTHS OLD. I cant take this anymore. I am not going to take Loestrin anymore. I agree with some people that side effects vary from person to person, but there are to many people taking Loestrin with the same side effects. I wouldnt recoment this for anyone!!

I had Mirena put in straight after the birth of my second child as recommended by my maternity hospital to have inserted 6 weeks postnatal and kept it in for seven months. At first I just had minor symptoms like spotting slight cramps and a little bit of vaginal discomfort due to the wires, and the only good thing was that my periods stopped eventually. As the months went on my health started to decline as the side effects crept up on me and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I just thought it was because I have two small children and I was feeling worn out/burnt-out, it got to the point that I was struggling to do everyday tasks and look after my children. I am only 24 years old and I felt like I was a 50 year old grandmother!
I had the Mirena removed 3 days ago after reading this site and I feel so much better! This company must know that there are more side effects than they have listed, yet they still fail to list the serious and debilitating side effects their product is causing people. They were sending the maternity hospital I went to products with Mirena printed on to push their crappy product. The biggest worry I have about this thing is that I am breastfeeding and I had this stupid thing in for 7 months and some of it was coming through my breastmilk and I have noticed that my 9 month old baby girl had really bad clicking joints that have got better since the Mirena removal as have mine! (although not 100% back to normal yet) This company deserves to have their product removed from the market and someone to sue the pants off of schering. The product is completely unsafe!. If there are any long term side effects to myself or my daughter I WILL SUE THIS STUPID COMPANY AND THE DOCTOR AT THE MATERNITY HOSPITAL WHO PUSHED THIS PIECE OF JUNK TO ME. The warnings are completely inadequate - because I'm sure if all the possible side effects were listed next to no-one would have it put in. I feel that this thing is pushed on mothers so that you can't distinguish the side effects from hormonal changes that could possibly occur after the birth of a child to hide the fact their product is dangerous.

I have a 9 month old baby. At the age of 2 weeks he started having a lot of stomach problems which included constipation, colics, vomiting, blooding. After several medical examination it was found he had acid reflux and allergic to regular baby formula. He was placed a special formula called Nutramigen. At the age of 5 months we have noticed him to be very hyper, won't sleep much even during the night. During the day he might sleep twice a day (app. 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.) for maybe 45 minutes at the most. He wakes up twice a night when before he was sleeping for almost over 8 hours. Like I said this happened at 5 months old. He is on Zantac twice a day. Could this medication be affecting him in this manner. He at times looks quite tired, stays still for a little while and it seems like he recharges and gets more energy. This is also taking a toll on me as I don't get too much rest and the interrupted sleep at night is affecting me. Please let me know anything that you can on this situation or who or where you can refer me to for more research. I feel something is going on with this medication.

I have been taking Yasmin for about 3 months and I am getting married in less than 2 months. Along with having a 6 month old baby, I have been stressed to say the least. I have felt like I was loosing my mind in the past month or so. I've been so numb and all I can think is that this is suppose to be the happiest time of my life and I can't find joy in anything. I have no sex drive at all. This has made me rethink my upcoming marriage and basically my entire future. Thank god for this sight. I am not crazy, and I can stop beating myself up, over this.

Actually I'm thinking about going on celexa and I was wondering if anyone has heard of "Lexapro"...it's like celexa only it's been said to cause less side effects. Either way, I want some advice from anyone who is on either of these or has tried either one. My story is this: I'm 24 years old, I am the mother of a 17 month old baby and I have 2 step-kids. My husband's ex-wife is a nightmare and I am totally depressed just with life in general. I weigh 110 pounds and will FREAK out if I gain any weight because I've just always enjoyed being thin. I read an article on celexa and it basically said that only a small percentage of the people on it had significant weight gain...so maybe that small percentage of people are the ones who come on these message boards. I keep reading all these horror stories for all these different meds and I've concluded that the people seeking answers for their problems come on this web-site and read these side effect profiles...not the people who are happily getting on with their lives because their medication is working. So if there is actually someone who reads this who has something encouraging to say, please speak up! Thanx a bunch, R.N.

my husband just took zyprexa for the first time about 3 hours ago (5mg) about 45 minutes after he took it he could hardly keep his eyes open...now he is asleep and dead to the world- we have a 9 month old baby crying and playing and yelling right next to him and he hasn't budged...he eventually tried to stand up but fell down with weakness, and fell right back to sleep where he fell...i haven't had a chance to actually talk to him and see how he feels, i'm hoping this is just a one time thing since his body is not used to the med yet...let me know if any of you experienced this when you started and if so how long it lasts...also he is taking lorazepam (generic ativan) let me know if you have taken these 2 together and how they jive.....thanks...Dale's wife

I experienced drowziness and dizziness. I also had hot flashes and bouts of anger. I am a mother of a 4-1/2 month old baby and have never felt impatient towards him, but felt that way taking this stupid drug. I lost my car key, put out clothes for work the night before and forgot I did that, put my son's bottles in the freezer....and the list goes on. I was at the end stages of a sinus infection. All I needed was some freaking amoxicillin.

I had a mirena fitted twice with no significant problems except weight gain but I now have a 6 month old baby and had my 3rd mirena removed this morning.I had my second one removed in April last year when we decided we would like to try for baby no3 after a 12 year gap.I fell pregnant in the July and had lost 10lbs in the three months after removal without trying.I felt calm, slept better and had loads of energy.I then progressed with my pregnancy and continued to lose weight as was very sick so by the time my daughter was born I had lost 35lbs in total.i then lost a further 10lbs in the six weeks following her birth and felt great, loads of energy,my skin looked fantastic and was really happy.
-- By eve1064 | Reply | (1) replies | Private Message meI decided to have my 3rd mirena inserted just after my six week postnatal check as I hate heavy periods etc, well that was at the beginning of June.As soon as it was inserted my stomach started to bloat and it looked like I was 6 months pregnant,I have experienced extremely heavy prolonged bleeding with clots.I had phoned my doctor 3 times over the last 3 months and they said to give it time,it was the fact I had not long had a baby and give it 6 months.I have also gained 14lbs in the 3 months,my skin has broken out,my hair is thinning and have really bad mood swings, anxiety and restless sleep and I know I don't have post-nantal depression as had that 16 years ago and know the difference.
I am so glad i took the decision to have it removed and feel 100 times better already knowing this thing is no longer inside me.I definitely know this mirena has caused all these side effects now.Why do the doctors not listen to us.
