I took Topamax 50 mg for about 2 months and experienced a change in menstrual bleeding. I wonder if Topamax effects progesterone levels. I had light spotting 5 days before period due for both months. This medication also made me very depressed and angry. I quit taking it about 5 days ago and felt the depression lift on the 2nd day after stopping the medication. This was my 2nd round for Topamax. My first time taking it I worked up to 100mg and lost 15 lbs in just a few weeks. I had no appetite. I also go very sick with a respiratory infection and dry coughing. I had menstrual problems with the first round too but didn't figure out if may be the Topamax until my 2nd round. It did help my migraines significantly. But I'm uncertain how if potentially messes up menstrual cycle. The warnings for the medication says "menstrual problems" but doesn't go into detail. Anyone else have menstrual problems.

My experience with nuvaring:
I thought it was good at first. I have been on it for 3 months (with no break). I have skipped my period, but I did have some spotting after the second month. Actually it was thick dark old blood mostly on and off. I have noticed I my sex drive has significantly decreased, but I thought it was because I started taking Zoloft around the same time and I know that is a side effect of zoloft. After reading this, I see that the nuvaring must be a factor if all these other people are saying the same thing. The reason I was doing a search though is b/c I have had reoccurring symptoms of BV. Once was really bad but the other times were mild (including now), but I know when something is not right.
I just took it out (today) b/c I thought maybe not having my period could be a factor or the ring itself. Im going to give it a break for awhile to see if things change.
I do not seem to have the mood problems like the pill has affected me in the past, but I have had nausea, and stomach problems on occasion; yet I don't know if the nuvaring is to blame. I have lost my sex drive, and have had a problem with dryness about the second month of using it (or earlier), yeast infections, and BV symptoms.
Has anyone else had BV more frequently since using the nuvaring?

I've been taking Lamictal for almost 3 months. I've been struggling with mood problems for 14 years always being diagnosed with depression and being put on anti-depressants that did nothing to help. Finally a doctor dove a little deeper and diagnosed me with Bi-polor disorder. Lamictal and Trazodone. I stopped taking the trazodone because it made me feel like a zombie and made me gain weight. I have since lost that weight and am not having any weight gain problems on just the Lamictal. I am however having problems with headaches and actually eye aches if that makes sense. My eyes always feel dry or tired or something like that. I am also having trouble with memory loss. I often go to do something and forget what it was on the way there. At work i find myself stopping on my way to a task and wondering "where was i going, what was i going to do?" I'm also having trouble with spelling and like the others here it was never a problem before. But i will put up with these because Lamictal has made such a difference in my life. I feel more stable and stronger in the face of stress than i ever have before. Right now i'm just on 100mg maybe things will get worse when my dosage is raised but right now the side effects are bearable and in my opinion worth it.

I began taking Yasmin when I was 16 to regulate the irregularity and terrible mood swings I was going through. This was in 2004, when Yasmin was very new. I had terrible nausea for the first three months, but after that I was fine. I had clear, healthy skin, and my moods evened out. I was told that it was completely safe and that when I wanted to get off of it to become pregnant there would be no lasting problems. I was great for about two years, and then I began to experience many of the symptoms of pregnancy. I would have pain in my lower abdomen, as well as nausea, mood swings, breast tenderness, and even spotting prior to my period. I consulted with my doctor and she assured me that it was all normal. She explained that my being on birth control was like I was permanently in a state of early pregnancy. She also suspected that I might have ovarian cysts. As a solution to all these problems, she proposed that I try Yaz. So I did for about a year and a half. Then I started experiencing the same symptoms again. I contacted my doctor, and they suggested that the hormones in Yaz were not strong enough to prevent my ovarian cysts from forming. It was at this point that I decided that I should do some investigation of my own. My husband and I decided that I should discontinue all birth control and we would manage my mood problems through diet and behavior modification. I have done this successfully, however, I am just now returning to what I expect is my normal hormone levels. I wanted to get off of birth control because I had found that some women who had used the Depro-Provera shot have taken years to regain fertility, as well as the birth control patch. Because we were planning on having children in the next five years from 2008, we became worried. Since being off birth control (in 2007) it took me until December 2008 to begin having periods that were irregular - meaning that it took me about a year and a half to return to normal cycles. I would not recommend Yaz or Yasmin if you are looking to conceive within 2-3 years. All the side effects listed here are similar to what I experienced, but I think it is up to the individual to decide whether it is worth it. I am now 21 and have acne like I never did when I was a teenager. I think I am now going through adolescence when I should be over all that.

I just got this pill from my doctor today!!!!! but i am afraid to take it reading all these comments. I started birth control when I was 16. My doctor first gave me the orthro patch. I took it till I was 22 and had major mood swings depression and bad anger problem. Everyone thought it was just that I was a bitch and there was nothing I could do. I knew it had to be the birth control so I asked my doctor (a different doctor since I moved) and she said that the patch is very bad and doctors have now come to realize it puts to much of the hormone in your body. That is what was causing me to go insane. I then switched to the NuvaRing . IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! I had the same mood problems ( a little less dramatic) but I felt like the ring was cutting my insides. I could feel it everyday putting pressure inside me. It made me lose my sex drive and it even came out one time during sex which my fiancee found weird for a ring to pop out of me lol. Now today I went to the doctor to switch birth control again and she gave me Loestrin 24. I am kind of afraid to take this because everyone has problems and when I read all the comments it sounds like every possible birth control out this is making every women go completely insane. Any advice from someone would be good. Should I stay in the crazy birth control world and give this pill a shot or should I give up birth control all together?

Have had the flu for 6 days, taking 500 mg 3 times a day for accompanying bacterial infection on the chest. I had 40ยบ temperature for the first four days felt awful due to that but now on reflection I believe the amoxicillin is causing mood problems; feeling furious about insignificant things, crying triggered by sad news stories (I am a man) waves of hopelessness and depression, today I sat in the kitchen and wept feeling pessimistic and overwhelmed by life.

The first 2 days that I felt ill I had no negative mood, just fever and headache, before I started taking the antibiotic. Also I think the first dose caused me to vomit.

I have been on this pill for about 3 months now and I absolutely love it. Have had no mood problems, a VERY light period lasting about 2 days each month and no weight gain. My face is actually looking better where as I had acne before and no issues with sex drive either. Maybe it's not just the pill itself but it depends on your body as well, and what you're more susceptible to. Just a thought.

My 18 yr old daughter has been on singulair for several years and has complained this week of numbness in her feet and toes. I have told her to stop the drug. Is this a reversible side effect? Does anyone know if there is anything else to do?

I just started my 3rd pack of Aviane. One of the reasons I started taking birth control was to lighten up my period due to anemia. Well, so far its only made my periods worse. The first pack i had breakthrough bleeding for almost 2 weeks. It was heavy, the cramps were worse, felt sick, and worse depression/anxiety. I went to the doctor and he said this was "normal" and that I should continue the pill. During the second pack I bled for over a week and it was heavier, bad cramps and a headache for a week. Not to mention my "period" never came during the placebo pills but I know it can take time to regulate. I just started my 3rd pack of pill and I'm not feeling well. Just nauseous, sick and depressed again. Just last week when I was on the placebo pill I felt just fine and now i've started Aviane again and i feel horrible. All I know is that if bleed irregular/heavy this month again, i'm either going to go off this horrible stuff or go to the doctor to find a new birth control that doesn't make me feel sick and depressed all the time!

Anybody concerned about their pill symptoms, look up CANDIDA. It is related to so many symptoms and my latest thoughts are, The pill causes candida and candida causes the symptoms. This means your body may not go back in check after stopping the pill.

I have had
Mood "problems" we'll call them,
headaches mostly as a soreness in my temples,
Dizziness,
Sore feet,
Random cramps in legs,
Flu like aches and pains,
Chemical sensitivity,
Fatigue,
Stomach problems
Decreasing ability to concentrate,
Severe and sudden beer intolerance, meaning taking only 2 beers to get a wicked hangover,
Sudden noise and light sensitivity,

To keep it kinda short here, I just kept telling my doctors, I feel like I'm getting old. I'm 27! I think this pill gave me a great breeding ground for candida and candida did the rest. Look it up!

I have been on NuvaRing for 8 months and am now realizing that my severe mood problems are most likely due to this bc. I went from rarely ever crying to crying every day for no reason. I find myself getting really upset with my boyfriend and friends for no reason. I also have noticed that I am much more anxious than I used to be. I got on NuvaRing originally because most of the pills I had tried previously made me very ill and throw up. I know all medicine affects people differently but has anyone been on a form of birth control other than NuvaRing that they would actually recommend and has minimal side effects?

This fall, our 3-year old son went on singulair to combat seasonal allergies and "reactive airway disorder." Shortly after he started the medication, he started having terrible mood swings and when he would get angry, it would go into a rage. This was not typical for our son. We thought that he was entering the awful 3-year old stage and that he was starting to show behavior problems. We have been working very hard with him to help him control his anger and moods, but we will be taking him off singulair tonight to see if that makes a difference!

I've been on Loestrin 24 fe for a little over 4 months now. I haven't noticed any mood problems. However, the first month I had very, very light spotting when I should have had my period. I have not had any bleeding since that time...no spotting or bleeding at all. I have also had pretty significant skin break outs since starting this pill. It is terrifying not having a period, but I think I'd rather not have one than belld 3 out of 4 weeks like I did on Yaz.

I am really glad I read the other posts here. I see a pattern. I tried the NR for the first time about 12 days ago. I got a dull headache from it right away and my stomach didnt feel right although I never threw up from it. I thought I was ok until 5 days ago (Saturday) when I burst into tears over something little right after I woke up in the morning. I went to my weekend waitressing job and burst into tears again over something little. I had such mood problems that day that I worried most of my co-workers and smarted off to people which I never do. My manager was really worried that I was acting so strange. On Sunday I just wanted to sleep all day because I was upset. I freaked out and cried until I choked myself just because my husband was going to be home from work later than scheduled, which is a regular occurrence in his line of work. On Monday when I went to my office job I was in the bathroom all day feeling sick. After that I went to my waitressing job and got really moody again. My manager had a pep talk with me and I thought I was ok becuase Tueday and Wednesday (yesterday) my mood was much improved even though my stomach was still really upset. Well - today I burst into tears on the way to the office, could not shake it off, and left the office an hour later (around 9 am) to try to calm down. I felt better so went back about 10:15. Worked about an hour, felt sick in the stomach again. After almost fainting while opening the bathroom door, I spent the next 15 minutes sweating profusely while I hung over the garbage can waiting to throw up. I'm 29 years old and had to call my mom to come pick me up and drive me home. I thought I had a panic attack or a nervous breakdown by now. I slept a little, woke up with nausea and crying and got online to see if NR was why. It sort of sounds like it. I am trying to decide if I should just pull this NR out now or stick it out until day 21. I am afraid I might lose one of my jobs for being so moody and saying the wrong thing - or hurt my husbands feelings worse than I already have if I don't get rid of the NR, but will I make matters worse if I do? I need help!

Took mostly for seizures, but have been informally diagnosed with Bipolar II.

Had tremors at night, almost immediately, marked anxiety, weight loss, strange heat flashes, severe headaches (already have a migraine problem), complete w olfactory hallucinations (could have been breakthrough simple seizures, or headache auras).

Felt detached from myself and others. But the most disturbing symptom of all was auditory hallucinations. I have no history of psychosis and this only happened after starting Lamictal. Basically I could hear a constant chirping sound, subtle, but loud enough at night to keep me from sleeping unless my radio was playing to distract me from the sound. Could it have been a new form of seizure? Maybe, but regardless, the sounds started at the time I started this drug. Plus, according to a psychiatrist, I had no signs of psychosis, just the unexplained phantom sounds. One last possibility: Maybe an inner ear problem. Still would like to look into that.

People are right when they say this is still an experimental drug. If I had known what I was getting myself into, I never would have tried this drug to begin with. If any of you have had auditory hallucinations on this drug, without a history of any sort of hallucination or psychosis, PLEASE respond here and let me know about your experience. Thanks!

i started taking Yasmin around 2 months ago.
I havent really experienced any majorly horrid side effects, except for tender breasts which is driving me nuts, my boyfriend cant hug me without me flinching in pain!
there has been the slight weight gain and the headaches, but i didnt realize until today and after reading all the posts that my sudden and extreme moodiness is due to Yasmin.
Iv noticed recently that iv been snapping at my boyfriend over nothing, getting very irritated and upset with very little to get upset over and that my anger getting out of hand.
And its not the regular 'PMS' symptoms of irritability...its severe full blown mood problems...and theyr really starting to take their toll on my relationship with my boyfriend. I find it hard to justify why i snap, and shout and respond in a rude way to anything he says...because i dont know myself...i have no answer....
i guess i can at least attribute it to Yasmin....but still.....
I dont know if i should change pills or not, as yasmin has been the first iv tried...

Hi all. I was diagnosed 3 or 4 years ago with epilepsy. So far, I have on about 5 different epilepsy meds. I can't recall the first 3 but had to get off them because of physical side-effects. My last one was Dilatin which worked pretty well for a year. I slept great - 8 hours on the dot. Then, I started to have short seizures that began to successively lengthen. So, I was switched to Keppra.

I started at 250mg/2xday on Keppra and now am up to 1000mg/2xday. I also started taking B6 100mg/day. A couple of days after starting Keppra, I started to get slight headaches. These went away after about 2 weeks. I also got a numb patch on the same place on the bottom of each foot. When I went up to 500mg/2xday, the numb patch spread, I started to feel off-balance, and I started to get the "rage" symptoms. I went up to 1000mg/2xday and most of the bottom of my two feet went numb and cold, I began to get slight tingling in my fingers and a mild case of tightness in my chest. I still felt off-balance and the rage symptoms were there. It began to get hard to get to sleep and I would get up unnecessarily early and not be able to fall back asleep. I want off this med. Maybe it works great for other people but for me it I take it at the levels I need to, I won't be able to work or do much of anything.

My side effects have been mostly related to sleep. I have not slept well in several weeks. Waking up, horrible dreams, feeling like I have been yanked out of bed. When you do not sleep well, you will have memory problems, mood problems, muscle pains, and no energy. For the last few weeks, I have had to take naps every day. I have struggled with my college work as I am 49 and back in college. Can;t seem to remember what I have read or do any computations in my math class without help.
I have cut the dosage in half the past two days and have already noticed the difference. I am able to read and remember, sleeping better, no horrible dreams. Mood is definitely better. I need to keep taking this drug as it has been the only drug to help by nighttime asthma. I am now on 5 mg daily --which is a child's dose for ages 6-14.

I was on 50 mg of Metropolol for 4 years for HBP. While on it I gained 50 pounds, could not lose weight, although I would eat less, developed anxiety, depression, loss libido, was irritable etc.
My husband could not figure out what was wrong with me. Before taking it, I was always a happy go lucky person without mood problems. I also developed palpitations while on it. I have recently weaned off due to cardiologist putting me on a Triamterence, a diurectic and have lost 18 pounds.

But watch out, I weaned myself off from 50mg to 25mg and then to 12 mg in a period of 30 days and have now experienced extreme anxiety, fear of losing control (panic attacks) and shaking at nighttime. Has anyone experienced these withdrawal effects even after tapering off so slowly?

My daughter was put on Yasmin approximately three years ago to help with her acne and to regulate her periods which it did help with. However, she began having such severe anxiety attacks and mood problems that she ended up being on Zoloft for this. She was due to go in for her annual gyn exam and I was looking on the Internet for information about YAZ, thinking that maybe this would be better for her -- and that is when I found all these different websites discussing the anxiety, mood disorder, depression, etc associated with Yasmin. Well, we decided to finish up this cycle (last week) and for her to go off of them because now we both think that the reason she had the horrible anxiety, etc was because of this birth control pill. We are both really hoping that she will feel better quickly off of it and will then wean her off of the Zoloft. I am so upset to think that she has had to take the Zoloft for over a year now and she never had this problem before the Yasmin!

WELL I HAVE BEEN READING EVERYONES SIDE EFFECTS THAT THEY CLAIM TO HAVE EXPERIENCED SINCE BEING ON WELLBUTRIN.FIRST OF ALL WELLBUTRIN IS A VERY EFFECTIVE DRUG FOR DEPRESSION AS WELL AS BEING PROVEN TO HAVE SOME OF THE FEWEST SIDE EFFECTS OF ALL ANTI-DEPRESSANTS.THIS DRUG DOES NOT CAUSE SEIZURES,WHAT IT DOES IS LOWER SEIZURE THRESHOLDS,WHICH MEANS IF YOURE PRONE TO SEIZURE(LIKE STOPPING DRINKING WHILE ON IT)YOU MAY HAVE A SEIZURE.IF YOU SEIZURE WHILE ON THIS MED ITS BECAUSE YOU MAY HAVE A CONDITION THAT YO ARE EVEN UNAWARE OF THAT MAKES YOU PRONE TO SEIZURES,WHEN AN ALCOHOLIC DRYS OUT THEY ARE PRONE TO SEZIURE SO IF ON THIS MED THEY ARE ACTUALLY TOLD TO NOT STOP DRINKING.EACH PERSON IS DIFFERENT IN CHEMICAL MAKE UP,SO WHAT ONE HAS AS SIDE EFFECTS OTHERS MAY NOT.IT JUST SEEMS TO ME THAT YOU ALL HAVE READ POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS AND HAVE CONVIENCED YOUR SELF YOU HAVE THEM.EVERY DRUG HAS A SIDE EFFECT BECAUSE ITS NOT NATURAL IN THE BODY.HOW DO I KNOW?? WEL I AM A PSYCH NURSE IN A PSYCH WARD AND SEE WELLBUTRIN USED AND RECORD AND OBSERVE SUCH MEDS AND THE EFFECTS THEY HAVE ON PEOPLE,AS WELL,I HAVE BEEN ON WELLBUTRIN FOR SOME TIME NOW AND HAVE HAD VERY LITTLE SIDE EFFECTS AND THE ONES I HAVE ARE ANNOYING BUT NOT SERIOUS.I BELEIVE ALOT OF YOU PEOPLE DEPEND ON YOUR MEDS TOO MUCH AND THINK THAT THEY ALONE IS WHAT WILL MAKE YOU BETTER,THEY CAN ONLY HELP YOU,NOT CURE YOU.WELLBUTRIN IS ONE OF THE BEST YOU CAN TAKE,JUST TRY TO COME OFF SOME OTHERS OUT THERE AND YOU'LL SEE.IF YOUR ON WELLBUTRIN COUNT YOURSELF LUCKY AND STOP LOOKING FOR THINGS WRONG WITH IT,WORK WITH IT.

I would like to find out if anyone has had similar problems as my wife. My wife has been taking Topamax for 4 to 5 years for migrane relief. During this time she has had a series of problems that list out as side effects (IE: weight loss, difficulty with memory, depression, psychomotor slowing, mood problems, confusion, decreased libido). But the biggest and most problematic is paranoia. We have been married for 29 years and are in our mid 50's. About at the same time she started taking Topamax she went into metaphase. Initially I thought her paranoia was a symptom of metaphase, but she is through that and her paranoia has accelerated. She accuses me constantly of being unfaithful, having another job, investing in things she is not aware of and literally hundreds of accusations. All of wcich are untrue and I have proven that to her time and time again to no avail. Her doctors say no she is on too low of a dose to have these problems, but I dissagree. She went off the medicine in December and January, but started to get frquent migranes in late January so she went back on the medicine. When she was off the medicine her demeanor was like the wife I have had for 25 yaers. When she went back on it she had a significant demeanor and the accusations started up again. She can't get the negative thoughts out of her mind, which is causing her incredible turmoil, and me too as I am the fucus of her paranoia. My next door neighbor was on this very med and developed awful thoughts about her husband and got off the med. It took her about a year to get her mind right. My wife doesn't believe she has this problem. But believe me she does. DO you have or know of others who have had these problems that are on Topax? Please let me know. Thank you! Engineer-guy

I was given a 5-day supply of Levaquin as a second course of treatment for a very bad Urinarry Tract Infection. While it cleared the infection thouroughly, the side effects were frightening and burdensome. I began having tingling and uncontrollable restlessness in my arms and legs, bordering on a claustrophic attack sensation. Over the next few days I experienced severe mood problems including anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, anger and frustration and crying jags. I will never take this drug again and am hoping to inform anyone who experiences these symptoms that they are in fact, not going crazy.

So I am a healthy, 23-year-old college student. I started the nuva ring over a week ago -- 10 days to be exact -- and I think it's finally started to click. I have become a PSYCHO. I read all of the pamphlets for the thing, and the only side effect I found related to mood problems was "depression". Well, I have turned into this crying-at-random, bitchy, angry, up and down within minutes psycho person! I can't take this. I have turned MEAN, and I am not a mean person at all. I appreciate everyone who has posted their experiences, because now I know I just need to take this thing out.
