I've taken a morning after pill on 23/24 May as a precautionary measure & my period came on 26 May. On this day, I started my 1st pill (Yasmin). Till now, my period has yet to end. I've stopped Yasmin since yesterday just in case and my period's still here. What's wrong??!!

I started taking Lamictal about six weeks ago for epilepsy. Now keep in mind, I was on Dilantin which worked great for 17 years and then suddenly stopped working. I have been in medication hell since then. First Topamax made me dumb as a rock. I would space out all the time. Worst drug ever. Then Keppra which was better in that my memory/ability to speak came back but I had these intense ups and down. I had rages constantly. Now I'm on Lamictal. So far, it's better than the Topamax and the Keppra, however the dreams are very intense as are the night sweats. I'm also experiencing much hair loss. Fortunately I have a full head of hair but I'm afraid I will eventually lose it all.

I had the Mirena fitted and taken out the next day. The actual fitting was not as painful as I had expected, and all ok for an hour.
Returned home and started to get cramps and some spotting, then my abdomen swelled and was extremely bloated ( I thought this was just like the period pain that was described from having it fitted) however it went on and I couldn't work, just sat and ached and hoped it would improve. Then I noticed red marks on my stomach and went back to the Doctor. They told me that I had an allergic reaction to the hormone in the Mirena.
After 20 minutes of it being taken out I was feeling so much better, after 4-5 hours the red marks were fading and the bloating was slowly going. I also felt really depressed, and had spinning moments when I felt like I was about to faint. But I have also had levonelle (the morning after pill) which has the same hormone, but with no side affects what so ever.

Hi there!!

Wow, it´s amazing how many women have problems with that pill. I have been taking Yasmin for about 3 years , last January I started having a severe depression, I was anxious, had panic attacks and terrible Zwanggedanken, don´t know the word in English, like thoughts that you are foirced to think!
well however, 4 months ago i stopped taking Yasmin and guess what: the depression got better and better, the fear went away as well as the Zwangsgedanken.
Until now, i took the "Morning after pill" the first time in my life with the result that i am now facing similar effects as earlier that year! anyone with a similar problem???

I am 22 years old, have been on Yasmin for two months now, it is my first time taking birth control pills except for taking the morning after pill once, and so far, so good-- I think. The only things that really bother me about this pill are my period comes every 3 weeks--every 21 days--instead of once a month like it used to--and what bothers me the most is this disgusting brown discharge that I've been getting lately. I also experience knee pain, but did not think that could be connected to Yasmin until I read the other comments, and I experience some abdominal cramping (minor) but am not sure if this is caused by the Yasmin. I have not gained any weight, which disappoints me because I am too skinny and that is the way I am built naturally. I do sweat more than I used to ever since I started taking Yasmin, and the sweating is probably a side effect. I also cry more easily than I used to and feel less able to control my emotions. However, I am also on Seroqel--a psychiatric/ mood stabalizer medication--just a small amount--but some of these side effects could be from that or from a combination of the Yasmin and Seroquil and perhaps how they react to each other. Does anyone know by any chance any drug interactions between Yasmin and Seroquil? Also, if I were going to get bad side effects from Yasmin like some of you report--hair loss, excess weight gain, acne, etc.--since I've been on it for two months, would I have gotten it by now and does that indicate I'll never get those side effects from it hopefully? Thanks.

Hey Everyone, I'm really sorry to hear about all the problems everyone is having. I feel fortunate because mine aren't as severe as others. I do have mood swings, at times I feel like I am totally out of it and in a numb state, other times I'm very energetic and have a super HIGH sex drive. I refuse to take any medication except for a daily viatmin and fiber for IBS (which I think was caused by BC) I know that it's just a matter or clearing these darn hormones out of my system, then everything will be back to normal!

twogirlsmom- keep your chin up! I find that doing yoga and exercise helps a lot, I start my day off by doing that. I also have refused to sleep any longer than necessary, otherwise I feel tired and depressed all day. When I feel panic coming on, I use all my internal power to ignore it and quickly find something else to focus on such as the TV, music, cleaning, reading, etc... You will be fine in time!

Oh yes, I am strongly considering an IUD, my husband doesn't like condoms that much, either do I, and I definitely need some form of birth control. I also do not want to consider the morning after pill, I don't believe in that. Has anyone had an IUD prior to having children? How was it?

post- Yasmin effects: i also had panic attacks when i went off yasmin but they subsided after a week. my apetite is insatiable, but i also run almost every day. has anyone else experienced this?

suggestions- i took these drops of Agnus castus, it's a fruit derivative I think and you can get it at any health food store. it's supposed to regulate your cycle. I dont know if it made a difference but it made me feel better mentally.

Also, for the hair loss- nothing can change that, but I bought this shampoo from Lush called cynthia stout that made my roots "fluffier" adn look less...thin...

sickofbeingsick- i'm off the pill. i'll never go on it again. i practice safe sex and have a prescription for the morning after pill. people liveed without the pill for thousands of years! i completely know how you feel. my only advice is to get off yasmin and rid your body of the craziness asap!! keep us updated pls!
