I'm 35 and had Mirena inserted on April 7, 2009. I didn't notice any side effects, until now. I've always been on the petite side 4'11" & have weighed between 94 - 98 lbs. I could eat everything & anything, never exercise and not worry about gaining weight ever. Now I weigh 106, which doesn't seem like a lot to most people, but it is for me. The weight I've gained is in my stomach area. My pants now fit snugly around the waist & I've thus developed an ugly "muffin top". So I can't wear form-fitting shirts because I feel like everyone can see my "muffin top". I've never felt so unattractive before. Most people get mad & say I look the same. But I know my own body & know this is unnatural.

I pretty much don't have a sex drive either. I'm never "in the mood" and just go through the motions numbly.

I've also become a mega-bitch. I feel like I'm angry at the world & always trying to pick a fight with my boyfriend. I hate being this way & am thinking of having Mirena removed very soon!

The only positive thing about Mirena is you don't have to worry about anything: no daily pill or messing with condoms. Also, my periods are super light.

Of course, I know everybody's body is different and will react to Mirena in certain ways. Just thought I'd post to see if anyone has had similar side effects.

I had my Mirena inserted 4yrs & 11mths ago. I believe this evil little device nearly cost me my life. A locum GP suggested it to me when I consulted her about tubal ligation. She said that as I was having heavy periods which made my varicose veins ache the Mirena may be a better option, so I went for it. It hurt having it inserted but the cramping after was a killer. My husband noticed a change in my mood within a week, at my six week check up he asked if it could be associated with the Mirena and was assured that it would be rare. The next six months I became more and more depressed to the point that I decided to commit suicide. Luckily my husband was one step ahead of me and I'm here to tell my story. Also have had migraines, weight gain, nausea, breast tenderness, but no period. I never associated any of these symptoms with Mirena (neither did my GP). As the five year life span was approaching I decided to go through the motions of having it replaced. Whilst looking on web for a local Gyno I started to read the horror stories. Today I had it removed, it was a little uncomfortable but I'm hoping it is going to make a difference to my long struggle to manage my depression.

I am 29 and started taking Loestrin 24 Fe back in October of last year after I stopped nursing my one year old. I have been on it nine months and I finally quit using it. It was AWFUL for me!!

I turned into the most rotten person I knew. I would scream and rant about everything. I also started developing brown spots along the upper part of my lip all the way across. They were gross looking because they made me look old.

I also had no sex drive and would just go through the motions. Plus, when I shared my concern with my doc about my period being only a day, she laughed like it was the greatest thing. I didn't like it because my period was very light in color but very heavy in mucus. It was so gross.

I have been off for a month and love it. I have calmed down considerably. I told my husband that I will not be on the pill anymore. I now like myself!!!

I have been taking Lipitor for around ten years, up to last summer. In the spring of 2003 I began having severe pain in my heels and it was diagnosed as Plantar Faaschiitis. Last summer I suffered a severe rotator cuff tear, with no connection to any injury. Recently I have a small tear in my right rotator cuff. Even though it a small tear it is fairly painful. It seems to me that it is highly unlikely that all three of these conditions would occur in one person with no external reason. Does any one know of any connection with lipitor and orthopaedic injuries or break down? I have been told that there is a connection between Lipitor and connective tissue breakdown but haven't seen anything in writing. I have discontinued using all statin drugs and zetia.

I had a Kenalog injection into my knee joint after my orthopedic removed 30cc of fluid from the knee. about 2 hours later, I began to experience pain around the knee joint. Rapidly, over the course of 15 minutes, I went from mild pain to pain so actuate, I could not function. I could not move, speak, or do anything that might move my leg in the tiniest of motions. The pain extended down my calf, and into my foot. After 30 minutes, I was in such acute pain distress, I was transported to the emergency room. It was by far the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life, worse than labor, and even more severe than a disc herniation four years prior to that. I experienced flushing and stomach pains and it took too pain injections to bring it under control. After ruling out a cartilage tear or fold with an MRI, it was determined that I experienced what is known as a steroid flair. I spent the next day resting and recovering from stomach pains. The pain subsided but left my knee in a worsened state than before the injection, although the inflammation went down. Needless to say, I will not be accepting Kenalog injections again.

Hi everyone!
I just have to say that this website is amazing. I have been on yasmin for 2 months know thinking that I am going crazy, its so nice to hear others getting similar symptoms. I have been on lots of different pills for the last 5 years and have never felt the way I do now. My mood has changed completley and am irritable all the time. one second I will be happy and then the littleest thing will set me off...which is very unlike me. Also i feel that i can concentrate on anything, i just go through the motions of things...anyone else have this? the reason that my doc switched me was becasue i strarted getting very bad migrains and she said it could ahve had soemthing to do with my pill.. i do have to say that i have not gotten one ever since i switched, but do not think i can continue feeling as awful as i do!
