Was on Vytorin for 2 years & experienced no noticeable side effects during that time. It lowered my cholesterol to 179. Had a hysterectomy (complete) in Dec., 2007. In May, 2008, I began a sudden on-set of severe numbness in both hands (especially when lying down)--classic carpal tunnel symptoms and intense pain in all joints. When I move from a sitting position to stand up, I can hardly do it. This is what I thought I would feel like at maybe 80 years old--not 46 yrs. I thought maybe it was because I'm not taking hormone replacements, but my doctor said it could be the Vytorin & he took me off of it. I've been off for 2 months, but the symptoms are not improving. The carpal tunnel seems to have lightened up a bit, but the joint pain (especially hips) has not gotten any better. I wonder if it ever will????? Also experience fatigue, foot pain, & weak fingers.

I do not know if this will help anyone but I hope that someone will benefit from this information. I was prescribed Levaquin for 7 days, on the 5th day I awoke to severe lower back pain. I could barely walk. Next day my knee's, right foot were also throbbing with pain. The joints were inflammed and extremely painful. I stayed in bed all day hoping it would go away. The pain and inflamation became more severe. I had blood work and ex-rays, everything checked out normal. Found this site and others describing crippling effects of Levaquin. My husband did a little research and we have been injecting magnesium into my glute mucsles. 8 days later I have definatley improved. I am not out of pain nor can I walk normally but I am no longer using my mothers walker to get around the house.

I started taking Cyprofloacin on a Saturday evening when I went to the hospital for a severe bladder infection. The doctor gave me one dose of it to last me until I could make it to the pharmacy in the morning. That night I experienced horrible joint aches and had a very hard time sleeping. In the morning when I woke up most of my muscles were aching and I could barely pull myself out of bed. When I went to the pharmacy in the morning they substitutided Levaquin. I hoped that the side effects would be less severe, but they are not. Most of the mucsles in my body are aching and I feel very out of it, almost like I drank ten cups of coffee. I have never been sensitive to any medications (I've been perscribed many kinds for various things) and I have no known allergies, so for me to have these kind of side effects is highly unusual.

i am on my 3rd day of methylpred. last night i started feeling really tired and weakness in my mucsles and today my heart rate is up and pounding. i am already on blood pressure meds. and it helps to slow down my heart rate and now this speeds it up. i am starting to cough my head off i feel like i am getting a bad chest cold. i hate this med it makes me flushed in my face and neck and keeps me awake. im afraid to stop taking it. but i don't want to feel like this. what happens if you quit taking it?
