Have been taking Lisinopril (5mg) once a day for almost two months. I'm a 52 y.o. male in good physical condition, 5'11", 200 pounds, work out with weights at least three or four times a week, treadmill work at least twice a week and very little salt intake, no fried foods, and overall healthy eating habits. The doctor told me when I was diagnosed with H.B.P. during a visit for a muscle strain that losing weight or changing diet and excercise weren't options to help with the problem since I was in good shape and eating well already. My blood pressure went down beginning the first week and by the third week was near normal (about 123/78). Great news, you would think........except.............
I developed a dry cough and scratchy throat within days of starting the drug and it now persists 24/7 causing a loss of sleep. I have severe itching and small rashes in various places but mostly in creases around joints and between cheeks (yeah, THOSE cheeks). Broke out in a cold sweat, became nauseous, and nearly passed out at work one morning. I guess because of a quick drop in B.P. Have a hard time concentrating and making sense according to others at work. And last but not least, my sex drive is practically non-existent, which is okay I suppose since I haven't been able to get an erection since about three weeks after I started taking this crap. Other than that life is just great!
So I stopped taking this stuff two days ago and am hoping to become healthy again once I get whatever this poison is out of my system. I'm willing to live with a little high blood pressure since I felt just fine before the doctor told me I just HAD to take something. I'd rather be healthy and happy with a touch of H.B.P. than sick and impotent with a normal reading.

After taking Levaquin for 7 of the proscribed 10 days, I awoke with severe lower back ache, running down the front and backs of both legs. I did not connect the pain to the drug, as I have seen a chiropractor for similar pain. He said that it was highly unusual for a back issue to effect both legs, and that the hamstring pain must be some unrelated, coincidental muscle strain. After my treatment the pain got progressively worse. I could not sleep, and drank milk to ease the cramping in my legs in the night. The next day, I discontinued use of Levaquin, started drinking gallons of water and green tea to purse my system. On the 8th day, I strarted with the nausea, which I treated with crackers. No nausea on the 9th day. Receding muscle pain the night of the 9th day, and last night, the 10th day, receding still. Trouble is, the pain seems to magnify when I sit and espcially when I lay down. I am moving around pretty well during the day now, but my ability to sleep has been impaired and finally seems to be improving. Last night was pretty good.

i am 55 have limb-girdle muscular dystrophy, overweight and in wheelchair, type 2 diabetes, doctor prescribed lisinopril to counter slight kidney dysfunction 30 days ago. am also on; lipitor, metformin, amlodipine. side effects since lisinopril; cough, tiredness, sore left shoulder(already damaged by muscle strain 10 yrs ago,so i feel lisinopril may exacerbate pre-existing joint or muscle damage),digestive system problems, too much saliva, and feeling like a zombie. i looked up this site because i caught myself this morning, slumped in chair,slack-jawed and almost asleep 1 hour after getting up.i am going to contact doc for alternative or if not, to inform him of of stopping this particular drug.

Hello, I have been taking sinulair 10 mg for about 4 years. My doctor claims it's safety and I feel like when I go off of it, my asthma symptoms return. I never thought about the weight gain since I quit smoking and gained 25 pounds. I have lost ten of it and it does seem that I should be losing it faster with all the working out I do. I notice weakness in my face and arms sometimes. It goes away and I brush it off as muscle strain from doing weights. I maybe should research it more and see the connections to my side effects. It is scary to think that all my ailments are from this drug. My doctor says I am in great respiratory condition and the benefits outweigh the risks. Lately I noticed something strange. My chest feels like it hiccups every once in awhile during the night like, the valve is flapping. I had an EKG and a halter monitor and my heart is normal. Maybe it is in the lungs or something. I have been exposed to pesticide over the last 6 months and have had allergic reactions to it and am moving this month. It may be linked to that. It would be interesting to find out. What can I take instead of Singulair, that is not a steroid? I have excercise induced asthma. Please advise.

52, BP 150's/100. Taking Metformin twice a day for Type II diabetes. Was prescribed Lisinopril 20mg once a day about 3 weeks ago. After about a week and a half developed constipation, plus a neck ache on the right side - like a muscle strain. ****** lists diarrhea as a side effect - I had to hunt pretty far to find constipation as a possible problem.
