The cure is worse than the disease is true for me with Yasmine. I started because of heavy periods, very painful ovulation, and cysts on my overies. Stop the periods sounded better than a hysterectomy.
My gall bladder has been very sore, and causing me the classic symptoms of gall stones or gall bladder disease. The ultrasounds, MRI's and blood tests are normal, the pain is always there, and very strong at night. I have seen at total of 6 doctors before someone said," birth control pills cause this type of pain." I have quit Yasmin but true to the British Columbia health system it will take another month before I can see my GYN. All women please check all the side effects of birth control pills, it seems so common, we take for granted that it won't be us that has the problem. Just for all you nay sayers out there, I already have a low fat diet, I am 5' 3" and 130lbs.

wow, I am so glad I found this site. I started taking Yasmin a few weeks ago, and in that time I have been to psychiatrists, therapy, put on Prozac etc. because of weird anxiety spells and horrible fatigue. I am extremely sleepy off and on during the day, so tired I can barely move. I am sleeping poorly, wake up early, nap constantly. My sex drive is all over the place, sometimes so horny I'm ready to jump on anything that comes across my path, but most of the time so tired I can barely get the energy to take a shower, let alone enjoy sex. It has pretty much ruined my life for the past month, I have missed work and school, blown off friends to sleep. I can't even clean the house or walk the dog. My best friend told me that I have not been myself for a few weeks now. Oh yeah, and my hair is falling out!!!! Of course the doctors want to blame it on depression, iron definciency, weed, poor diet, any excuse they can make up except that perhaps the pill they so blithely proscribed causes awful side effects! I am stopping this drug tomorrow, and we'll see if the symptoms go away. Thank you all so much for posting so that I now have a clue as to why I have been going crazy for the past month.

I googled 'vomiting', mood swings' and 'fatigue' and this forum was the third result and since I'm currently on Yasmin, I figured it must be related to what I'm experiencing, and I was right. The first month that I started Yasmin (December 2006), there were little or no side effects, only minor nausea and headaches. I got married in January 2007 and the side effects started to intensify but I attributed them to other things like stress and nerves. I get frequent headaches, some minor, some major and would vomit almost every month right before my period. My husband has also noticed and commented on my constant change of mood throughout the six months that we have been married and that I appear depressed at times. He says that I have become a different person. This inconsistency has often led to arguments that I cannot seem to find the root of until now. My sex drive is also much like a yo-yo nowadays, I simply feel disinterested most times even though we're both in our prime and it is not helping with my marriage. Therefore, I have made the decision to stop taking Yasmin. I might opt for a different pill or just stop altogether. I am 22.

All I can say is that this posting has made me feel a bit less crazy... At first I loved Yasmin. I lost a sugnifficant amount of weight and felt very good about my body... 3 or 4 months into it I started having severe panic attacks. I had never had a panic attack before so it scared me even more because I did not know what was going on. I was having panic attacks on the subway ride to work. Many times people would move and sit me down and offer me water because I would turn white and start sweating. I thought maybe it was stress so I began to see a therapist... Which helped a bit but I did not want to take any other medicines that the doctor kept pushing on me so I stopped going. The attacks stopped but the emotional rollercoaster continued very much. I cry ALL THE TIME and get mad very easily. My boyfriend is very supportive of me and helps me get through the depressions and anxiety-- but I don't think it is fair for him to have to do that. More recently I have been getting "brain zaps" that make me a bit dizzy for a moment and then go away. It is very odd... I've also gone and been tested for every allergy ever because everything I eat gives me a stomach ache. I thought it was maybe because I was having too much caffiene but I stopped drinking that and the attacks stopped-- but not the depression and anxiety in general. I never really pointed to the BC until my best friend said she and another friend were having the same symptoms and we were all on the same BC... That said, I'm currently looking for one that doesn't make me insane!!! And doesn't make me gain weight... I can't gain weight or I will stop taking it. So if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!!!!!

AVOID YASMIN LIKE THE PLAGUE! I never have got on with contraceptive pills, but this pill is absolutely the worst of all types I've tried. I specifically told my doctor that responded badly to hormones in BC pills such as weight gain and tender and enlarged breasts - well, two days after starting Yasmin, I started to get shooting pains in the sides of my breast and I grew at least a full cup size. I was miserable, having to wear sports bras and unable to move in any way without feeling discomfort.

The discomfort was not only in my breast, I also started to get extremely moody and a bit depressed. My best friend and husband and I were on a weekend seminar and the two of them called me 'punchy' all weekend. This occurred for about two weeks, succinctely during the two months, I was on Yasmin.

Other side-effects were: heavy periods, spotting, weight gain, dizziness and I swear, I could have slept my life away on this pill. I was always feeling tired and like I needed more rest.

I'm now trying Loestrin 20 now - hoping that will be ok for me.

I have been using the NuvaRing for less than a week now. My breasts have been unbearably sore and I am just curious if the tenderness will decrease over time. My gyno recommended that I use the NuvaRing because it had the lowest amount of hormones and I have already been taking 50mg of Zoloft for depression daily. So far, I have noticed a change in my mood. My best friend said I seem mean and opinionated lately, when normally I am a total pushover and nice no matter how I'm feeling. Does anyone know if this will change? I'm glad I'm expressing myself now, but I don't want to be mean to anyone, ever. Oh and also I've been sleeping like it's my job. I'm in college and finals are coming up and I don't know how I'm going to study being this sleepy all the time! Thanks!

Unfortunately, I researched Kenalog post-injection. Had I known about the side affects, I never would have received the injection. I am a 31 year old female who had one Kenalog-novacaine injection into my left and right side trapezius to try and reduce muscle tension. I hadn't made the connection to my constant menstral bleeding for the last month and a half until reading this site. I had my normal period which started two days after being injected and then had 3 days off before I started bleeding again. I've only stopped for a total of 5 days in the last 50. I've also had extreme migraines. I've had migraines for the last 10 years just prior to and post my periods but only needed 2 of my migraine pills a month. Now, in the last 45 days, I have used 12 pills (sometimes needing 2 or 3 in a day to actually get rid of the pain which
I have never needed to do before). I am shocked at the side effects of this drug as my pain specialist did not ever warn me about them(even when I asked). I just hope that this fixes itself eventually and doesn't keep me from being able to have children soon as
I had intended. You'll have to excuse me, I have to go and call my best friend who is a drug rep for the maker of Kenalog.

Hi,
I have been on Yasmin for about 4 months now, and I have been very moody. Little things make me cry or I get angry really easy. I feel bad for my boyfriend and my family and friends, they are always saying what's the matter and sometimes it's absoutly nothing. My cramps stopped when I started taking this pill but is there another birth control pill that works just as good but doesn't have the moody side effects that this pill has? My best friend is on it too and she said that she was becomming very moody too. I never cry and the smallest things are making me. Should I stop taking this pill and switch to another one? I just don't want anything to happen between me and my boyfriend because of this pill, that would make me very upset.

Thank you!
Kristin

My best-friend room-mate is downstairs now sleeping. He was perscribed this for an absess/possible staff infection, and have been having violent seizure like anxiety attacks. Two ER visits and still they don't know what it is. He shakes violently, and the only thing that will stop these attacks in xanax. I am positive these affects are being caused by this anti-biotic.

Just wanted to post this after reading all these horrible things about Yasmin. This is the 3rd birth control pill I have been on-the last one was making me so bloated I could barely button my pants. I have had very little side effects on Yasmin. I am 30 yrs old, I don't smoke, moderate excercise and a chocolate junkie. The only side effects I have noticed is some insomnia lately and occasional heartburn- but this could also be due to the fact that I am about to make some life altering choices that have me a bit worried. Not to diminish everyone else's pain- just know that everyone's body is different. Both myself and my best friend have been on Yasmin for over 6 months now and we are fine.

Hey girls,

I am so glad I found this site. My doctor prescribed Yasmin after my 2 stays at the hospital over the summer due to midcycle cyst which bursted both times and gave me an appendix-like pain. He said that Yasmin will stop ovulation which was the cause of this cyst forming on one of my ovaries. Anyway, I was happy until yesterday. I've been on a pill for 3 months and yes, indeed my monthly pain stopped and i had no reoccurance of midcycle horrors but there it was - the anxiety and depression which hit my yesterday. I may blame it on PMS but could it be Yasmin? I never felt this way, I never cried over some silly things and never was this upset with absolutely no reason. It scares me, it scared my best friend and it scares my boyfriend. According to the doctor I have to take Yasmin for 6 months but I doubt I can live with this depression any loger, I am just not used to being this upset without any reason.
Thank you girls for all of your comments!

I am 21 years old and was on Lupron for a couple of weeks because i was donating an egg. While I was taking it I had insane cravings for sweets and I never really liked sweets before. Chocolate was my best friend. I gained a bit of weight, my breasts increased, incresed heart rate, and I was moody. Now, a week and a half later, one night I became so dizzy, sick, and disoriented that I had to hold on to walls in order to walk to the bathroom. That was frightening. I am in the WORST pain now for my lymphoid in my armpit swelled to a size of a mature grape. I cannot even lift my arm and it just gets bigger. I read somewhere else that this was also a side effect and it is terrifying. I've read all of your comments and it scares me even further just thinking of what may be because I was not informed properly and trusted the doctors too much. If anyone else has had the swelling side effects please e- mail me and tell me how you feel now or what you did. I'm going to the doctor but moral support is neede here too. I am very scared.

i have taken eleven of the yellow pills so far and i am going back to the doctor tomorrow. the headaches are unbelievable. i have never experienced the pain in my ear, jaw, and head like i am going through now. the headaches are constant and have affect my daily life in a negative way. i started taking yasmin because i was told that it helped prevent water retention. i did notice that my pants fit better, but i think that's because tylenol replaces some of meals now. though i may have lost some water weight, i am too fatigued to go work out. i have been absolutely miserable since i started this pill.

my best friend is on the same pill. she had gained fifty pounds while using depo and she recently switched to yasmin. she doesn't have any complaints. she says taking the pill at night decreases the side effects. that didn't work for me. she is over 200 lbs and i am 160 lbs. maybe i need a milder dosage.

I am 25 years old and have been on Yasmin for almost 10 months now. I was very pleased with Yasmin at first. However, I think this pill has taken a toll on my body that has just recently become evident. I have had many of the same symptoms that have been posted and I attributed them to stress and ignored them---not recommended!

Last year my best friend told me that she had been "spotting" for almost a full month and sometimes would have a thick, clumpy discharge of dark blood on non-menstruating days. She got off of Yasmin and has not experienced this since. Might I also add that she has taken 4 different kinds of BC and didn't have similar side effects with any of them. For the past 3 weeks, I TOO have experienced this ridiculous, ONGOING bleeding/spotting and have ruined most of my underwear collection. I don't think there is anything normal about that! I'm no longer taking this medicine and I hope to regain my former energy and enthusiasm. Everyone responds differently to medication, but life is too precious to spend your days in contortion associated with a sketchy drug like Yasmin.
