My whole torso, stomach area and sides along with upper and lower arms broke out in an extreme rash which was painful, oozing, welts, open sores and some bleeding. This lasted from @ mid July 2009 to present, Nov. 2009. Using A&D ointment, oatmeal baths, many vitamins and plenty of water it is just now settling down to symptoms of pink(raw) skin and not so severe pain with still some itching and flakey skin.

I just recently about 2 1/2 months ago switched from yaz to the nuvaring. Thank god. I have been struggling the last year with these symptoms: IBS, moodiness, anxiety attacks, palpitations, shortness of breath, headaches, SEVERE stomach cramps, and much much more. It started with taking a ride to the hospital because of what i think may have been an anxiety attack. but at that moment felt like a heart attack. I knew i was too young though. I have since been to my GYN doctor, he told me that it could not be the yaz. But i asked him to switch me anyway to anything else. i have been off for about 2 1/2 months and i feel much better. I don't have to not eat because i know my stomach will cramp. I couldn't even walk up the stairs at wet n wild to a ride because by the time i got to the top my heart would be pounding out of my chest, and everything would be blurry. ...just letting everyone know ...yaz is dangerous...and i do plan on getting a lawyer because yaz never said anything about these complications....

Hello! Its kind of creepy that i just now realized my problems and where they are coming from. A couple months ago I was having symptoms very similar to being pregnant.. went to pp and the dr. and I was not. I have been on Yasmin and the generic brands for 3 years now. and recently quit taking them for the 3rd time... About 2 weeks ago I started having " prego " symptoms again.. took a prego test and of course came up negative once again. Its been a little depressing as my partner and I have been wanting a baby. but now i'm starting to see where these symptoms are coming from.. My digestive system has gone haywire.. i get headaches.. my boobs hurt.. and i'm extremely emotional... my boyfriend has mentioned recently that my "outbursts" are frightening to him.. I didn't think it was that bad but now that I look back on it i've had these problems only during the time i've taken BC. WOW!!! as much as i enjoy the BC because it relieves me of my extremely long periods and severe cramps reading and feeling all of this makes me feel a little mad. I wish there were better ways of handling birth control and menstruation My doctor wont give me an IUD and my mother had severe side effects from the shot so i've been left with only the pill.. as the patch gave me really bad numbness after only 4 days..What are us women supposed to do!!! it seems like the doctors know what they're giving us but they do it anyway! women today should be able to be confident in their BC and know its not going to kill them. if anyone has some sort of "option" for me please don't hesitate to email me your thoughts and ideas... thank you! ******

I had a several small PEs in my right lung 2 weeks after cosmetic surgery. I just turned 37, run every day and in great shape. I was put on both lovenox shots for 5 days and Coumadin for 6 months. After 6 weeks the side effects with Coumadin were so severe (weight gain 14 pounds in 6 weeks, joint pain, tiredness, hair loss) that I took myself off cold turkey and started on NATTOKINASE. I am doing great! I would recommend searching the natural approach like Nattokinase, vitamin E, cayenne pepper, etc. I have stopped gaining the weight and it's starting to come off. All of my other side effects went away too. I've been off 4 weeks now. All of the doctors were mad and scared me when I went off of Coumadin. I had to do my own research and listen to my body.

I wrote a post few days ago about Singulair and how great my daughter is doing since she started to take this medication three months ago.
Then I started reading about all the side effects that other children had because of Singulair. I GOT SO SCARED!
So scared that last night I stopped giving Singulair to my daughter.

From January to September my daughter had asthma every other week. She was put on steroids (prednisolone) every time she couldn't breath. Then in September the pulmonologist said we have to take control of the situation because so much steroids can damage a little body.
She made me feel I had been a terrible mothers since I always refused to give her singulair.
She convinced me and then I started Singulair, but now I feel worst because I have the feeling I am giving poison to my daughter even if her asthma is under control.

My 7 years old stopped Singulair 12 hours ago, I do not know what is going to happen now. Of course I cannot call the pulmonologist anymore in case my ds gets bad.
Somebody here said that she is giving her son Nordic Naturals Fish Oil, Culturelle probiotics, vitamin c, and changing his diet - increased magnesium and decreased dairy.I will love to have more information about this alternative way of controlling asthma. I do not remember who wrote this post. If there is a web site of a doctor I can contact i will do right away. I live in New York.

I need help. Thank you so much.

My son is on the 15mg patch. He is developing OCD type behaviors-right now it is an obsession with his fingernails-always picking at them, getting dirt out from underneath them, even when there is none. We have tried adderall and this. I think I am going to try something natural. Any suggestions? He also won't eat or drink all day so we need to go a different route.

Hi everyone, I have been on Loestrin fe for 8 months and I am 45 years old - taking the pill again after a four year absence. I have found that all of the posted side effects are true - but are greatly minimized by taking the pill EXACTLY at the same time every day.... if you are off by even a half hour you WILL have breakthrough bleeding - sometimes with clots and with drawl-like headaches... my gyn says no way - but I actually tested my own theory this month - much to my regret - I am right... I am ready to quit as I am at the end of my rope. Fortunately for me my blood count has come back into the normal range after the last two years of horrific bleeding every 11-26 days without a break.

I am going to go off next month - and I may have RESET MY SYSTEM so to speak - if no I will take a hysterectomy please... straight up with a tummy tuck to match!!!!!!!!!!!! Please email me if you ever want to discuss - I am a nurse anesthetist and have a great deal of sympathy for all of you out there. I am not sure if this drug is a bad one - but I think it is so low dose that timing must be precise for it to work properly. I have stayed on it only to reduce the bleeding (perimenopausal/estrogen dominant I am sure) twice a month periods that last 7-8 days. It has worked for me in that regard - but the first 7 months were plagued by horrific (and I mean really bad) right sided headaches that scared me. I had relief from NSaids (Motrin) so I almost overdosed on that stuff. Not good. My next strategy is to do saliva testing for cyclic hormones OFF the pill to see what kind of hormonal swings I really am having - and to adapt a more natural approach - possible progesterone cream to alleviate the misery of it all....
Much Love, Ellen M

I JUST started Loestrin 24 Fe (day one) and have been reading many articles and websites (anything from the literature in the research journals to the Mayo Clinic posts). I have just read through this entire site and took in all the feedback from the women who have shared the side effects. I have NEVER taken BC until now. I am trying it to keep monthly bleeding and mood swings to a minimum. BUT, I see some serious side effects (depression, acne, weight gain) - these seem worse than just dealing with the monthly symptoms and taking some pain relievers.

Should I STOP? Any advice from veteran birth control users?
Michele

I was prescribed Levaquin 750 for 5 days for resolving pneumonia. I didn't finish the last pill due to increased heart rate and severe anxiety. These symptoms did stop for me. However, about a good 2-3 wks later my wrist started hurting. I thought I may have slept on it funny or something. Then a day or two later, my jaw started hurting so bad I couldn't chew at times. Another 2-3 days which leads me to today, I am having tingling/shock sort of feelings running thru my legs and arms and still having the jaw and wrist pain. I have an appt next week with my doc. I'm sure she'll send me thru all the tests everyone here has mentioned to no avail. This is very frustrating and scarey. I wish folks would repost and let the rest of us know how they are progressing. I will post back after my visit. I am going to try the magnesium and 5-htp the gentleman said worked for his wife. I am becoming a firm believer in a more holistic and natural approach to healing. I know sometimes chemical medicines save lives but this one has caused my life a lot of pain that I feel was not necessary for a very light case of walking pneumonia. Good luck to everyone. Please keep your progress updated to help the rest of us out.

Hello,

I read about how YAZ birth control pill affects the body and psych and I am now scared. This is my 2nd day of YAZ (I've never been on birth control pills ever and I am 27 years old), it's all new to me but after reading all these negative posts about Yaz I don't know what to do. Before the birth control pills, I was depressed, annoying, serious weight problems - 210 lbs :~~((, low energy, low libido, always tired, terrible migraines every 2nd day, ridiculously increased appetite and excessive hunger, hair where it shouldn't be, menstrual blood clots, excessive cramping etc
I have all these problems for 3 years now and now that the family doc. put me on YAZ birth control pill I am even more scared - mainly of more weight gain, it would be a tragedy for me, I am fat enough already and what's worse I can't lose the weight, exercise doesn't help, diet doesn't help, NOTHING. Will YAZ birth control pill worsen my already tragic condition? I just don't know what to do and what to believe ... I appreciate any advice or help you can give me ... Thank You to all!

This is an update. I have stopped Lisinopril 4 days ago. By the way I forgot to mention that I did experience hair loss after being on 20 mg since February, Hairloss started end of May, which of course made me anxious to the point I did not want to take a shower anymore or wash my hair!! So this is when I started on Zoloft, which I have taken for the past five years, but only 25 mg every other day. This was keeping my worrying in check and was all I needed. But since February after starting Lisinopril my friend mentioned that I seemed to start worrying about every little thing and she does not even recognize my usual upbeat self. So then when the hair loss started I thought it was all in my head and went to the counselor and upped my Zoloft to 100 mg a day. Then in June my doctor said 10 mg of Lisinopril would be enough and sure enough, my hair loss stopped after about two weeks. I thought it was due to the Zoloft, that I just did not count my hair anymore, but now reading all the side effects I realize that I was not crazy at all! What a relief! So since Monday no more Lisinopril and Zoloft down to 25 mg for the past week. Last night was the first night I only woke up once really short, noticed a rapid heart beat, but only in my heart area, not all over my body, and went back to sleep. I also experienced on Lisinopril those vivid dreams which I woke up from and felt emotianally drained. I do take a Multivitamin, garlic pills and twice a day a table spoon of apple cider vinegar. So far my blood pressure is about 125 over 80 and instead of waking up with a pulse of 95, it went down this morning to about 84. I feel more energetic and in general way more upbeat. I hope I will keep feeling better and I am glad I did research on all those medications. It made me want to come off all meds and try natural approach, diet and more exercise.
I will keep you updated.

I posted last october and said i would keep everyone posted. at that time we were in and out of the ER and always on antibiotics and steroids etc...my 7 year old daughter had the exact same results as the earlier post here. she was on all meds. singulair, nasonex, advair 250, zyrtec, orapred when needed (frequently needed), nasal drip which caused coughing and airway restriction etc. all the behavioral symptoms. she was diagnosed as clinically depressed and severely adhd. (gee, can't imagine why on all those meds!) we went the natural approach. i finally told the docs i want to know WHY she keeps getting sick. we did the normal allergy tests and they were not helpful. i went to a chiropractor who ordered the 90 food blood antigen test. this tests for food intolerances. she was intolerant to 30 of the 90 foods!!! the biggests culprits were dairy, wheat (gluten!), nuts, soy. we removed the foods and she has not needed any medication since january!!!! nothing! we had one slip up where someone gave her some cake at at party and she backslid, but that was it. it really works. the docs didn't believe it. like the other mother said, it is really important to do your own homework. i argued with several specialists until i took it in my own hands and took charge of her diet. she is stronger and happier than ever! good luck everyone!

I started Zocor 3 days ago and I could tell the second day that something was not right. I have had a headache for two days, my leg hurt last night so bad that it was a pain to walk, I have had a funny taste in my mouth, my muscles ache, my ears ring worse than they normally do, my fingers and my toes hurt, I feel like I am in a daze, I have had crazy dreams the last two nights, and I am tired. Now I did not get these things after I read about them on this site. I found this site when I started looking to see if anyone was getting side effects from Zocor. I have never been on any daily medication before and I will not continue to take this drug to see if these things subside. I've had high Cholesterol for the last 20 years, that I know of, and I will take my chances with some kind of natural approach. I'm sure God has provided us with a natural solution. Tom
