My son and daughter have taken Singulair off and on several times now. My son is on it again because his allergies are acting up because of volcanic fog (vog). Neither of my children have experienced any noticeable side effects from this drug. My daughter, in fact, had no reaction since Singulair doesn't work on all people. I think the fact their pediatrician only placed them on this drug when they needed it and monitored it closely (1 month at a time) may be why they never had any side effects. My son has never been on it for longer than 3 months at a time. My son has done well on this drug and it has amazed me how well it works on his allergies and wheezing.

Just because some people have bad reactions doesn't mean the drug needs to be pulled from the market. I certainly don't doubt that people have had bad side effects from this medication though. I am very sensitive to all kinds of medications, even natural herbs and medications that have been around for longer than I have been alive. By just giving me a higher dose of something, I can get numerous side effects like dizziness, mood swings, nausea, stomach problems, and one drug, Ambien, even damaged my sense of smell. My doctors are always giving me the lowest possible doses of medications, and sometimes I am given half of the lowest possible dose. Why? Because I have a sensitive system, and this may be the case with your children or with your own experience. As with any medication, you have to weigh the risks and benefits. Singulair has made a positive difference in my son's life and as long as he is only on it for short periods of times (usually during allergy and/or cold season), I will continue to let him take it.

Was previously on Micardis HCT; dr. switched to generic Lisinopril HCTZ 12.5 in 11/07 when I went on Medicare & was concerned about cost of Micardis. Since that time I've put on 10 lbs. and had increased pain/muscle fatigue and general lethargy. Unusual, as I've exercised 4-5 days per wk. (incl. aerobics/strength trng/flexibility.) for 20+ yrs. Also, frequently, have problems swallowing pills due to feeling of obstruction in esaphogus tube. In July '08 I awakened to slight numbness/tingling in lips and my lips then proceeded to the swell to the point of pain and my lips (in profile) protruded further than my nose. I received steroid injection and prescription for steroid pack. Diagnosis was possible allergic reaction to new cosmetic product. Today (9/3/08) I woke up with the same symptoms and again had to go to the dr.for a steroid injection & meds. Diagnosis this time (different dr.) was possible side effects of "blood pressure meds." Has anyone else experienced edema of the lips, wt. gain, and problems swallowing?

I stumbled onto this site while trying to find a reason for these headaches I get sometimes for no" apparent" reason. Imagine my surprise to find your testimonies about your lives on warfarin sodium. At 38, I had surgery to repair a congenital defect of the aortic valve and had to have a hema-shield graph to repair an aneurysm of the aorta. That was in Oct.2002. Warfarin has been a part of my life since then. I was also put on anti-depressants because my family Dr. thought I was depressed since I repeatedly complained of not feeling well.(I took myself off the anti-depressants a couple of years ago.) Extreme fatigue , serious memory issues, thinning hair, dizzy spells and numerous other ailments continue to plague me.Add to that a large weight gain ...and, well, you get the picture. If anyone knows of an alternative to taking this "poison", PLEASE, PLEASE let me know. I just WANT MY LIFE BACK!!! I actually cried after reading this blog. As I explained to my husband, I suppose it was from the sheer relief of knowing I was not going insane!!!

I"m 54 and have been taking Lisinopril for 5 years.
Decided to stop now. My late Mom was a retired nurse and she use to make jokes about taking snake venom. But I didn't take it seriously until, I found out that Lisinopril was made out of Brazilian Pit viper venom..
Had problems sleeping, fatigue, muscles burning, tingling. aches with high pulse when ever I took this drug.
Figured it was something that i just would have to live with.
That God I finally decided to stop taking it and switch to natural herbs instead My health care practitioner is a retired Medical Doctor.
And he said natural herbs are better without the adverse side effects.

I have a 8 year old daughter that has been on Singulair since she was 2 years old. When she first started Singulair, she was also put on Flovent (an inhaled steroid), along with Albuterol for what the doctors call reactive airway disease (similar to asthma). Her triggers were allergies and having a cold. Her first flare up of mood swings alerted me to take my daughter off the Flovent. She seemed to improve a little, but still had behavior/moody issues. I had chalked them up to the "terrible twos", and not really thought much of it. As time went on, I became accustomed to the behavior that my daughter was showing. When the few complaints of stomach pains, headaches, and leg pain came along, I managed to explain them away with reasonable explanations (example: growing pains, eating too much, not enough sleep, etc.). As my daughter went off to school, I heard numerous complaints from her teachers that she lacks focus, cannot complete a task in a timely manner, easily gets distracted, and at times (more than not) is a disruption to the class. At home, I noticed a strange "tick" going on with her blinking, the constant need to repeat herself, and the battles with bursts of crying to get her to do ANYTHING. SOMETHING IS REALLY WRONG!!! I was on the edge of having a full work-up of mental tests. I have her see the school social worker weekly and I keep a constant communication with her teacher regarding her behavior. I decided to look up side effects regarding this medication. I first looked at the website for the manufacturer and saw nothing alarming, nothing about behavior affected side effects. I looked into mental disabilities (autism, aspergers, ADD, ADHD, etc.) and saw no common link to her behavior. Then I came to this site and MY JAW DROPPED!! Everything that my daughter has experienced, TO THE LETTER, has been experienced by other children. The weight gain, the occasional pains, the strange behavior. I decided that NOW is the time to act. I have seen my daughter's doctor and discussed my concerns. We are going to wean her off this stuff starting TODAY! Fear of a serious relapse of breathing problems is making us very cautious. I am kicking myself for not making the connection sooner. Wish us luck that this drug has not destroyed her chances of getting better and that this "asthma" can be controlled another way without such serious side effects.

I've been taking atenolol 6 months now and my basic complaint is the coughing. I have to practically sit up in bed at night. At first I thought it was just the usual summertimer postnasal drip causing the cough so I put up with it. Have to take ricoloas or some kind of drops all day to keep the cough down. I've heard other pills like this all come with the cough. If there is another that DOESN'T maybe someone can get back to me a nd let me know.

I have a doctor who isn't very communicative but if I complain about something he does what he can to try something else. This time, however, I'm doing my own research and so far have come up with zip as to any replacement. In fact, my blood pressure isn't much better. Was in the office for another reason the other day and it read 138/100.

Thanks!

I have been taking adderall 30mg immediate release twice a day for a little over 2 years now.
My hair won't grow. I have gone from a size 12 in women's to a size 0 in juniors. I am 36 years old and the bones in my face and body show through my skin.
I get very dizzy and I get anxiety really bad.
My toenails are paper thin as are my fingernails.
I have pushed everyone in my family away. I don't even play with my children anymore.
I am currently seeing a counselor once a week to help me with issues, which I hope will help me get off of this medication.
PLEASE DO NOT BEGIN TAKING THIS AS IT IS SO HARD TO GET OFF OF IT.
As another person stated, people I work with think I am on crack!

I know what Kim is going through and I know Kim's situation alittle bit more because we talk alot on the phone. She did try everything before the Lexapro that she could before she really lost here self. Infact that was a huge, huge, decession for her to make because she wanted to go the natural way. Honestly I tried everything natural that I could have possibly tried for 2 months and then I cracked. I tried valerian root, melantonin, b-vitamins kava kava, health food stores natual anti anxiety stuff, I went all over to health food stores telling them my situation, trying this and that. Natural herbs and vitamins always worked for me but for some reason with this situation it made me worse. My symptoms started in October and I did not start the Lexapro until December. My mind could not heal it self and I was really going to kill myself. I think Kim just hit that point in her life when she started the A/D too. I do agree she needs to give the A/D some time yet. I am trying to talk her through with that. Honestly, if I did not have such quick results like I did, I really think that my life would have ended. Thats why I really worry about this pill on the market. I worry that someone is going to end up taking their life from being so screwed up from it. It definetly alters chemicals in our body. I know we all have been through horrible things on this site.

I am a deskbound employee 63 years of age. I have been on HBP meds for the last fourteen years due to my weight. I have slowly escalated from 230lbs to 330 lbs over the last ten years. I have been on Lisinopril (20mg and then 40mg/day) for the last three years. It does control my blood pressure but could be part of the problem with losing any weight. My exercise is extememly limited due to laziness, financial inability to get equipment/memberships, and (of course) the overweight condition. While I don't have a dry cough I do have a consistant sinus drainage and some heartburn symptoms. I am concerned that the Lisinopril is contributing to my weight situation since I have not been able to lose weight regardless of diet.

I am planning to move off of the chemicals and use natural herbs and medicine to control my blood pressure. I will report changes here after three months off of the pills.

My dad is taking Lipinopril and has been having problems in less than 1 week. This drug is not one that is beneficial to the body. I have seen him with severe cough and shortness of breath, enough to wake him up terrified. I have done extensive research online and found this is not good. I do not believe in drugs since doctors precribe drug without really exposing the sideeffects. this doctors see all the old folks and they have dollar signs in their eyes. It is really a polical game to see who can go around the round table and win or money!!!. Please do research on these drugs before you take them online or library. I have seen these drugs given for one illness to cause another and then your given another medication. My mom was being scheduled to have heart surgery and I convinced her to start natural herbs that clean the organs and even the heart, they call them cleanses. She was told she would die and they were livid and foamy at the mouth but she is still her and healthy. Do yourselves the favor and really ask questions. These drug are suppose to be cheap so they go to a lesser brand that cause all these side effects leaving your lives also less!
