Neck injury symptoms and conditions

Was on Prednisone for 11 days for an injury to my neck. I knew nothing about the drug except what my doctor told me that it would reduce inflammation in my neck and help with pain.

Well, it did nothing for the injury and pain in my neck. BUT.... I had HORRIBLE menstrual cramps and got my period 8 days early. I've had my period for 9 days now AND terrible pain in my upper left leg. I thought the pain was related to my leg and as the days went by I realized it was in my left hip! It's so bad I can't lift my leg without extreme pain. I KNOW IT'S FROM this awful drug.

I've been off of it for 4 days and the pain is still with me. I called my family dr. and was told Prednisone doesn't do that. BULL!! The paperwork I got with it from the pharmacy show "Changes in menstrual periods" "muscle/joint pain" "bone pain".

I wish I knew this BEFORE I ever took it.

Does anyone know if these symptoms and problems will go away after stopping it? I called the pharmacy and was told it will take 2-3 weeks for it to get out of my system!!

Has anyone had problems that eventually went away after stopping the drug?

I had been on a prednisone dose pack (not too strong??) about a month ago for a neck injury to take away some inflammation. No side effects to mention and my neck felt tons better. Yesterday I went back to my dentist after 5 days of pain from a root canal. He put me on a prednisone dose pack saying there was some inflammation in the bone, very common, and the prednisone should take care of it. I took my dose yesterday, didn't sleep well (common side effect it seems) but then today my heart is racing and feels like it skips a beat. I have read this happening to folks on much higher doses, anyone have this kind of side effect with 20 mg/day?

DUE TO A SEVERE NECK INJURY I WAS PERSCRIBED GABAPENTIN 300MG X 2 ,3 TIMES PER DAY & 900 IN THE EVENING, PLUS 120 MG OF MST (MORPHINE SULPHATE) PER DAY.

THIS CONTINUED FOR 6/7 MONTHS UNTILL SURGERY WAS PERFORMED UNFORTUNATLEY I NOW SUFFER FROM SEVERE MUSCLE PAIN IN MY LEGS WHICH NOBODY AGREES THAT IT IS CAUSED BY MEDICATION

I am so happy to have found this site...your stories are so helpful. I am 28 years old and I was put on 60 mg's of Prednisone for 7 days for a neck injury by a neurologist. After taking about 5 days of it, I wasn't sleeping AT ALL, was very jittery, heart palputaions, had foggy thinking, difficulty with memory, and was sparking panic attacks. My doctor said "STOP IT COLD TURKEY". I questioned that knowing that this is a drug that you should be weaned off of and he said that since it was such a short course, I'd be fine! A day or two following that, I landed in the E.R. hyperventilating and basically thinking my toughths were those of an insane person. I was discharged after 2 days, and well, it's been a week since I"ve been off and I can't sleep without a pill and still have all the same effects...is this normal and someone please tell me how long I have to live like this. The dr's all say the drug is out of my system by now! HELP! Please respond!!!!

i had a neck injury and was getting cervical spine epidurals withprednisone. i started having night sweats , trouble thinking an bad bad mood swings. to keep the list going ,terrible headaches ,muscle weakness,numbness in my arms and fingers. i thought i was going nuts and then was told it was a reaction the the drug. nice that they told me. if i had known the sid affects before i would not have gone ahead with the epidurals. does anyone know how long this will last?
