Last Night was my 8th day on the Loestrin, and this morning I put 2 and 2 together. I am 21 years old, I don't drink or smoke and have been on BC for the past 3 or so years. My first BC was Ortho and never had any problems with it at all it actually helped with my periods. Since I lost my insurance coverage from my parents, I told my doctor that I would like to continue BC usage at my last annual 2 weeks ago since it was 3 months of no BC and there was no period until that week, which I must say I have had cysts in the past and this was the worst painful period so far. He told me to go on Loestrin since It's the cheapest effective BC so I decided that was fine as long as effective was above the price! which he assured me. Well since I have taken Loestrin I have not had a decent night sleep! I lay there for hours and it will be 3-5am and then I will fall asleep with waking up every so often after that constantly until the alarm goes off. The lack of sleep, fatigue from, and I have noticed some extreme dips into depression with mood swings. I am afraid to continue based on just the lack of sleep. I don't need any other negative symptoms and I cant handle this much more longer. after the second night I told myself to take some sleeping pills because I cannot get into a bad habit and they did nothing! I did always take Ortho at night (no problems) SO I will try a week of taking them of a morning to see if there are any differences before I call it quits on this one, but if I don't see better sleep/or see different symptoms I wont like then this one is just not for me.

Forgot to mention was very forgetful haha. On a more serious note memory did become a daily hindrance I noticed. Have to rely on my blackberry and post it notes 24/7. Slur my words a lot too. Another upside I just remembered was only getting my period for 3 to 5 days which is wonderful but doesn't outway the other negative symptoms :(

I'm not sure that yaz will eventually affect everyone negatively but if you really read the entries here women are having these affects at all different times during their cycles as well as time that they've been on it ie; 3days to over a year before their negative symptoms start. I don't personally think one single BCP is worth the risk of these symptoms. You may feel women are exaggerating but they are not talking about pms they're talking about dibilating symptoms. Please be safe is it worth the risk or better to just switch. Don't just hope yore turn doesn't come

My beautiful 11 year old daughter was on Adderall XR 20 mg per day for 4 years. After about 2 years she started to develop some minor facial tics. After 3 years the facial tics were worse along with severe head shaking and she also started to develop trichotillomania (obsessive compulsive hair pulling). The hair pulling continued until she was almost bald. Her grades began to drop and she withdrew herself from her friends and family. Finally, we took her off the medication in October 2007 at age 12 and she immediately stopped the tics and hair pulling. We have found 3 other families whose daughters have developed these same symptoms after being on this medication for at least 2 years. We have filed a report with the FDA as our own doctor had no idea that this medication was causing the hair pulling. Now 5 months later her hair is growing and the tics are approximately 97% gone. We have taken her to a homeopathic doctor and she is doing absolutely great now. Marks have gone up and she is smiling and socializing. I am so happy we have our daughter back. The side effects of this drug was definitely not work it.

Never really having stuck with any other type of birth control before, I started using the NuvaRing about 6 months prior to my wedding. I had consulted my Dr. about it asking what would be ok for me knowing I am forgetful and didnt want to take the pill everyday. He said the NuvaRing was my best option and proceeded to tell me some of the pros and cons about it. As a very persistant bride, I didnt really listen, just said "Great, sign me up!". Well the months go on and I never really had the urge to be with my soon to be husband, I just assumed it was because I was too involved with the wedding plans and everything else. The wedding day comes, everything perfect as I wished, then there was the night of the wedding... NOT everything I wished, I was "tierd", but I did what your supposed to do the night of your wedding and got practically nothing out of it. The entire week of the honeymoon, I bet we had sex MAYBE 5 times, 5 times!!! Thats how much you should be having in one day on your honeymoon. I just ignored it and figured it was the sun and alcohol, big mistake! We have now been married 6 weeks and probably have sex twice a week if we are lucky. My sweet new husband has been very good about this, any other guy would probably kill their wife by now for this. Finally, our solution, one of my best friends who is a nurse was listening to me wine a complain about all of this. I mean, what girl who loves their husband and is attracted to him wants to have no sexual desire, not me! So after she finishes listening to me, she starts to tell me all of the horrible things she has heard about the NuvaRing, she in fact was about to start on it before she heard all of the negative symptoms. She has heard of many relationships falling apart due to this "oh so wonderful" birthcontrol. In fact, some people have said they used to have sex 5 to 6 times a week and once they started this it went down to maybe once or twice! Not how I want to live my life or marriage. I suggest to all of you out there that are either researching the NuvaRing or have been on it, DONT DO IT!

I've been on Topomax for about 3-4 months now. I've had memory loss, slurred speech, decreased concentration (I have to re-read something several times to understand it) tingling in the hands and feet, depression, increased anger, loss of appetite, weight loss. I'm now at the point where I have a rash on my leg, severe nausea, and abnormal bleeding. I going to follow up with my neuro and PCP to see what's going on so we'll see. My migraines have decreased from 3-4 a week to maybe 1 a week, so it has been worth it so far so I can function for work and for my kids as a single mother. I've suffered from migraines for about 10 years and can't take the pain no more!!! If anyone has experienced the nausea, rashes or bleeding please reply.

Valerian root worked wonderfully for me--when I would wake up in the night i would take two capsules and go back to sleep within an hour. Even when I would take it at 4 a.m. and get up at 6, I would awake refreshed and have no "drug hangover." However, I believe it built up in my system, and it then caused negative side effects. My heart began pounding at night, my stomach was nervous and even seemed to quiver sometimes on the left, and i had pain on the right that I initially thought was my liver. The day before I quit taking it, I was itchy all over. That was when I realized that Valerian root was probably the source of all my negative symptoms. After not taking it for two days I began to quit feeling nervous and sick and itchy. I guess the lesson is that a person should only use this herbal supplement occasionally and in small doses.

I was browsing this forum because i was curious about whether my slightly decreased sex drive was just in my head. Other than that i've had NO negative symptoms. I would advise those considering the ring to try it out for themselves, because i think this is a good alternative to the pill because the pill gave me migraines etc right away, and this is so much more convenient. (I feel badly that other have had a bad reaction, but if it makes you feel so bad, why would you stay on it FOR A WHOLE YEAR? I still think it's a better form of birth control than some alternatives.)

I have taken Levaquin many times in the past and it has always knocked out stubborn sinus infections when other antibiotics have failed me. Now, however, the dosage has changed. Rather than prescribing 250 or 500 mg. for 7 days, they are prescribing 750 mg. for 5 days. My doctor explained that this dosage is supposed to be more effective, while lessening the length of exposure to the medication.

Unfortunately, I am experiencing side-effects that I never felt before. I was up all night long with anxiety and restlessness. I felt like my throat was swollen and I could not breathe well... which I mistakenly attributed to my sinus infection. I felt fine today after finally getting some sleep.

This evening, however, I took my 2nd dose of Levaquin and am starting to feel the negative symptoms again. Swelling of the throat/tongue and anxiety/restlessness.

I'm quite sure that I'm reacting to this medication, and will have to find another miracle drug for my frequent sinus infections.

I am a 37 year old female who took Advair for 2 1/2 years. When I first started Advair I called everyone I knew with Asthma and told them it was a miracle drug that they should ask doctors about.

My first negative symptoms were severe leg and foot cramps and numbness in legs. I did not associate them with Advair for a long time. These side effects were never listed in the drug info sheets I read. I then began to feel tired all of the time. And, I developed an awful rash all over my body, especially on the arms and legs (behind knees). I saw many doctors who could not tell me why I was sick. Finally, one doctor suggested stopping all meds, one at a time. We found at that I was allergic to Advair, the thing I thought was saving me. I was switched to Asmanex which is great--for now.

I am reporting these side effects of Advair to affirm those who are suffering and who may be getting crazy looks from doctors, like I did. They did not believe that I was in the kind of pain I was in. They did not make the association of Advair with rashes, though more and more users seem to be reporting this.

At the same time that I have had bad reactions, I have to say that my 9 year old is on Advair and it has been a GREAT drug for her. So far, I have seen no side effects, but we'll keep watching. I still think its a great drug for certain populations, but people need to wary of its possible negative impacts.

May God Bless All of us Asthma Sufferers!

began taking 25 mg about 3 wks ago for headaches. stepped up to 50 when headaches didn't cease and, eventually, 100 b/c I still felt a slight tinge of one (though certainly not that bad). I've been at 100 now for about 1 week and will probably step back down to 50 mg b/c I am starting to get the negative symptoms such as tingling fingers and face, slight pain in the legs, dehydration and "floaty brain."

I most certainly intend on staying w/this med. b/c, 1. it got rid of my headaches, 2. I've lost 9 - 10 lbs. so far and no longer eat everything in sight, 3. I SLEEP again, THANK GOD!!! 4. I have NO mood swings

It should be noted that I take no other meds - not even over-the-counter! (Might want to see what the doctor suggests for menstral cramps. My normal dose of excederin (sp?) did not work - I was in agony. Not sure if this was a result of Topamax or not. )

Oh, and be very careful when consuming alcoholic beverages. If you begin to feel abnormally agitated, stop. Be sure to drink plenty of water so as not to get dehydrated!

Here's the deal - you are all reading about the negative affects about yasmine...WHY? Because when a birth control is going WELL for someone..they usually don't look it up on the internet...they just let it take its course and never have a problem. HOWEVER - when someone is having a bad experience with a particular medication - they naturally look up the side effects to see if anyone else is experiencing the SAME thing. I swear - ANY medication I have ever taken....I've come across sites such as this that have people complaining and comparing the negative symptoms.

If you look up ANY type of birth control - I assure you, you WILL find a website like this. It all depends on the PERSON. Yasmin isn't THAT bad for some people..it just happens to be that 90% of the people it DOES affect..happen to find this forum and want to rant about it..(which I would do the same too)

I, however...so far - have nothing bad to say about it. I've taken it in the past - and I'm taking it now due to Endometriosis..and needing to regulate my period. So far so good!!!! I got my period @ a normal time and cramps weren't that bad. My hormones were out of whack before due to the endo..and now they seem to be back on track!

I don't notice any noticeable side effects...but I do notice that my breasts have gotten noticeably larger. I may have put on 4 pounds (although to be honest...I think it's all the crappy fried food I've been eating lately..and not sticking to my diet/exercise) lol..but overall - I don't have anything bad to say about Yasmin.

For those who are looking into taking it....every person obviously reacts differently -this just happens to be a site where the people who are disattisfied...found...and want to compare. The ones who ARE satisfied..simply haven't made it a point to look up info on a drug that is working for them...I just looked it up, to see if it was TRUE that breasts get larger on this pill lol...so yes..don't fret - give it a shot.

I started Yasmin about a year ago after I was diagnosed with PCOS. I had been off BCPs for about a year at that time but wasn't having regular periods and started noticing PCOS-like symptoms. My doctor thought Yasmin might be a good choice for me, but it made me totally crazy. I was tired, had the headaches, swollen breasts, emotional problems, racy heart, and was hungry all the time with a 5-7 lb. weight gain. I stopped taking Yasmin after about 3 months as my symptoms were not improving and switched to Mircette which worked well for me in the past. After about 6 months of taking Mircette, I decided to give Yasmin another try. After being on the pill again for 9 months I wondered if my body might be better adjusted to the pill in general and more receptive to Yasmin. I am on my first week and actually feel fine. I have no major negative symptoms and feel that it is actually helping me a lot with bloating which was an issue on Mircette. I am hoping that things continue in a positive manner, and will post again if things suddenly change. I just feel like it might be something to consider that perhaps some of the bad reactions are to the pill in general and not necessarily to Yasmin. I'm sure what everyone is experiencing is real, my bad reaction sure was, however switching back has been ok and I wanted to share that for what it is worth.

I was doing a search on the net for symptoms relating to menstrual like pains (no where near my period), headaches, and frequent urination. I was begining to think I was crazy or that I was pregnant again (had 1st baby in April '03). I just had my period last week and started my new pack of Yasmin on Sunday. After reading this I feel so much better knowing that I'm probably not pregnant again and that I'm not imagining the symptoms. I go to my Ob-Gyn on Monday so I think I will discuss some of the things I'm going thru with her. Thanks to all who have posted positive and negative symptoms!

Followup to my entry of:

Mon, 5 May 2003 00:29:52 -0400 by Guest, #2155

I completed my 60 day (500mg / day) supply / treatment of Levaquin for Chronic prostititis on May 10th.

My May 5th entry reported muscle and joint aches.

I'm pleased to report that as of today, all negative symptoms and aches have disappeared. I feel just like "normal", again.

Now that I am back to normal, it is very obvious to me that during my treatment, I was indeed experiencing Levaquin side effects.

I took a 500mg dose of Levaquin last night and experienced many of the very negative symptoms mentioned above. I have taken Cipro in the past with only minor side effects. It started with hallucinogenic type dreams that woke me up. Once up I could not get back to sleep and I was severely chilled. For the rest of the night I had spells of being severely chilled followed by overheated. I also have a headache although that could do to the sinus infection I have. I also experienced bringing in the ears, shaking, extreme thirst, muscle pain, and anxiety. It has been about 14 hours since taking the first pill and I am starting to feel a little better. Obviously I will never take this again!
