I had septocaine for 2 minor fillings in feb 2008. It took me until nov after seeing a number of dental and medical professionals to be diagnosed with trigeminal neuropathic pain in the V2 region. I'm still in a lot of pain with no relief in site. I can't sleep, I can barely eat because all my teeth shifted from the poor dental work and I can't concentrate on anything. This drug ruined my life.

I was on lantus a year and a half ago and had no problems and in fact after 3 months was able to go back to regular diabetic pills.
A couple of months ago I went on lantus because my sugar was out of control again(turns out I had osteo mylitis in my toe--under a docs care as well for my wound)--I had surgery and continued with insulin, and then on 20 units of lantus--my neuropathy was excaberated by the Lantus--every joint that had the neuropathy --toes ankles fingers wrists and even my lower back increased a thousandfold. The burning was so intense(causing nausea and exhaustion) and it was put down to an increase pain of arthritis, but I never had been diagnosed with it this severe and this intense-- I was rocking in pain when my nurse was here--at first it didn't add up until I forgot to take my Lantus for a few days and the pain finally dissipated to my *regular* neuropathic pain. I too feel better since stopping the Lantus.

ARACHNOIDITIS FOR LIFE, DUE TO EPIDURAL STEROID INJECTIONS OF KENALOG. THEY'RE NEUROTOXIC AND NOT FDA APPROVED OR LICENSED FOR EPIDURAL USE. OR ANYWHERE IN OR AROUND THE SPINE AND SPINAL NERVES. DON'T HAVE EPIDURAL STEROID INJECTIONS OF ANY KIND, WHETHER WITH KENALOG OR DEPO-MEDROL SUSPENSIONS. THEY CONTAIN KNOWN NEUROTOXINS, LIKE BENZYL ALCOHOL AND ETHYLENE GLYCOL, BUT DOCTORS CONTINUE TO PERFORM THESE INJECTIONS BECAUSE THEY RAKE IN SO MUCH MONEY FOR THEMSELVES AND THE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPAINIES. STAY AWAY FOR THEM OR ELSE END UP PERMANENTLY DISABLED AND IN SUCH TERRIBLE NEUROPATHIC PAIN FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. IF THIS MESSAGE HELPS JUST ONE PERSON, MY POSTING IT WAS WORTH IT.

My husband takes Neurontin 300mg in the morning and 300mg in the evening for a prostate neuropathic pain. He is relief from his prostate pain but has horrible backpain over the kidneys and neck pain too. He takes it for 1 month now. Do you think this side effects are going to dicrease? How long do you take it and are the side effects the same as in the beginning?
Thanks for your experiences...

My highest dosage on the Neurontin was 1800 mgs. so you are on a pretty low dosage. I think it takes time to get used to the side effects. I seem to have been able to deal with them better than other people can. I am able to concentrate and do my job. Don't know why but I can.
I am also on Effexor which is an antidepressant which they say helps neuropathic pain. I would recommond an antidepressant for anyone in chronic pain. It does make things a bit easier.
I hope this helps.

I have just been put on Neurontin and found out about this weight gain thing!! I am freaked out. I have come off of Topamax due to I could not handle the side effects and I was like I was in a coma. I am also on lexapro for depression so the topamax really effected me. The Neurontin has said to be given to bi polar patients but from what I have read people are having depression problems on it. So the whole weight gain and the depression thing is scaring me.
