My son is 8 and has been on Singulair for 4+ years. When he was as young as 5 he said he should just throw himself off of our staircase and in first grade, age 7, he told a friend he wanted to kill himself with a knife or scissors. I have taken him to psychiatrists, psychologists, pediatricians and guidance counselors and none have linked it to Singulair. I spoke with our allergist and he said to take him off of it. He said their office was not notified when Merck changed the side effects last year. Obviously the fat cats at Merck are enjoying their big bucks with little regard for the people taking their drugs, look at the new evidence about Vytorin-it does not work yet they have made millions on it. They knew it did not work 2 years ago. I am so happy that I now know this drug is dangerous. We will stick with our Nasacort, Clarinex and allergy shots, which are helping tremendously. I am planning on getting off of Singulair for my asthma as well. It is not worth it. There are too many reliable drugs out there to waste my money on the suicide drug! I am on Asmanex and may add or change to symbicort. I am so sorry some have already committed suicide because of this drug.

I am Cody Millers mom ,the boy who died from Suicide while on Singulair for 17 days, I just wanted to say one thing to all of you that take the time to post.GO ONE STEP FURTHER CONTACT THE FDA and report to medwatch .The investigation needs evidence like your stories to help make informed decisions about this drug. The poorly orchestrated disclosing campaign that Merck had supposedly set out to accomplish in 2007, has obviously not reached the mass majority of people using this drug .Seeing now how many people did not make the connection to these HIDDEN AND DANGEROUS SIDE EFFECTS.Our child's pharmacy sheet that came with the medicine ,showed none of the updated side effects. They were added in April 2007,I filled the prescription in July 2007.Nothing had been disclosed until we put forth this effort to get the FDA's attention ,by asking the Senate and Congress to look into this matter.Go to your doctor and insist that they report YOUR SIDE EFFECTS to the company and the FDA.It is of the utmost importance.,Kate and Dave M.

No side affects at all. I was on Imitrex since it first came out by injection (I've done 100+ shots) then went to the pills. My body became ammuned to the Imitrex and my doctor put me on Zomig - Both the Imitrex and Zomig work wonders for my migraines. I've suffered from migraines since I was 19 years old (I'm 50). Before Imitrex/Zomig, I went to the ER and was given Demerol for my migraines (and was accused of being a drug addict) - In one year - I went 22 times for my migraines.

Yes - these drugs do have side affects. But that is the chance I take. If down the road, new evidence shows that some new side affect shows up - well that is something I will have to deal with. Right now, I am productive, happy, pain free and I can work a full day, not miss any family functions. Those of you who are experiencing problems or side affects - get off of it. Its written in the paperwork when you get the prescription. Don't keep taking it. It is your choice to take it or not. There will always be a percentage of those who cannot take a drug. When I took the Imitrex injections - I always had a bright red swelling around the injection area, even after santizing the area - but I still continued with the injections - but that was my choice. I didn't want the pain - it was too severe for me to handle. Do what is best for you.
