Is loss of sex drive a problem when you are on Topamax? Also, does the weight loss stop?
My wife is getting really skinny. She pops off at me when I ask her a question....and I have given up on sex.
She's free of migranes though and I guess that is all that matters. She's been on it for about a year.

I was prescribed Sulfameth/Trimethoprim 800/160 for acne over 30 days ago. I have only experienced slight diarrea and dry mouth. Other than that it has worked just fine for me and I will continue taking it for my ongoing acne problem. Oh, and the acne cleared up nicely within 1 week!

I've been off it for a couple of days now and already starting to notice an improvement. I'm still in shock that a birth control pill could cause so many physical and mental ailments. No more. I'm going to try natural herbal remedies to combat my PMS... I'm fixed so don't need the pill for BC, was just using it to regulate my periods, keep my skin clear, and level out my moods - which Yasmin seemed to do nicely for about four months. Then things changed and boy oh boy, it's not worth it.
Best of luck to those of you who are just starting to detox. I'm right there with you.

I was originally started on 20mg Lisinopril about 6 weeks ago, and had many of the symptoms discussed here. But it did control my blood pressure nicely. I decided to cut the pills in half, and the side effects diminished quite a bit. My blood pressure was still well contolled. So I cut the dose in half again, and still good blood pressure control, minimal side effects. Now I'm taking 2.5mg per day, and my blood pressure is under 120/80, and I have no side effects. In fact, a few hours after I take it, I feel full of energy.

Problem with seeing the doctor is that they have to see some Xray or do a blood test before they believe anything. My shoulder pains are almost completely gone and flexible again. I too had so much pain that when I slept on my side, it hurt alot..and I mean alot. Now I can sleep on the shoulders and I don't wake up in pain. My leg rash is still gone and healing up nicely and believe me when I say that I had it for years and it never went away like this. It is too coincidental for me to ignore that the Lipitor was the culprit. Just get off the Lipitor for a week and see if the symptons subside, that is the only proof you need. I am not a doctor nor do I suggest that you don't need some form of statin to control cholesterol but the side efforts from it was not worth it for me. Better and easier to watch the intake of fatty foods and excerise. Good luck.

Hi all
I really feel for all those of you who had all these horrid side-effects from Yasmin. I have had some of them too, but while taking two other brands of BC pills. I cant tell however, if the problems were actually caused by the pills or from something else.
After taking Yasin for 5 months now I can honestly say Its my favourite from the ones I tried. My periods are very light, no cramps, no bloating and no mood swings, all of which which I really suffered from while being off pills completely. Also, my skin cleared up nicely after about the 8th week on Yasmin.
The only thing I can complain about is vaginal dryness and decreased sex drive, but I had that from the other pills as well. Of course, after reading all your posts I feel concerned, but as long as it continues to work fine for me, I'll stick with Yasmin. The pill I took before this one was Desolette, a brand that here in Europe is subject to lots of lawsuits. My new gynecologist refuses to prescribe it but its still sold.
I would'nt take BC pills at all if it wasnt for my bad cramps and really long periods. Sometimes I wonder if its worth all the risks. But each time Im off the pill I have to put my life on hold for 10 days or so each month.
It seems that there is a long way to go to find a pill that is completely safe (im unsure there will ever be).

I'm 78 years old and in fairly good health, considering. Began taking Lipitor, 10 mg daily, nearly six years ago. Lowered my cholesterol nicely, thank you, so I ignored a buddy's warnings about statins in general, not bothering to check the Net. Finiished a strenuous home project last July and then in August, I noticed an unexplainable loss of strength in my leg muscles. I commented on it to a number of people, thinking I must be aging in spurts. I was experiencing problems getting out of my car, off the commode, out of chairs, etc.. Then, the first week in December, I woke in the middle of the night with my left leg, from the knee down, in totaly excruciating paing. I got into my Family Physician the next day, he had lab work done. Saw him two days later, all a big mystery, but he thought perhaps gout. He did give me a prescription for vikadan, which helped alleviate the pain. Things settled down somewhat, but I was even less capable of getting to my feet and was obliged to walk with a cane. I saw the Gout Doctor last week and after checking me over, he wasn't certain the problem was gout. The following night, my left leg blew up again and thank God for the vikadan. Then I finally got smart and check the Web and there's no doubt in my mind now that Lipitor is the source of both my loss of strength in my leg muscles and in the extremely painful episodes I've been having these last several weeks.

Well, I couldn't figure out where I got this whopping ear infection...like swimmer's ear. I never get ear infections, even as a kid. Also, I am on Weight Watchers and have lost 20 lbs in a couple of months. Everything was progressing nicely until I took Singulair. The weight loss stopped, even though I was doing the same routine! After ditching Singulair, I'm back on track. I give this medicine a thumbs down.

I am a 47 year old male. I weigh 150#. Been on Lisinopril
5 mg. for 4 weeks. Terrible dry cough which at times makes me gag. Worse at night. I have painful intestinal pains and loose watery stools all day long. I also am experiencing a strange neck and head sweating that lasts all day. I have to have a small fan at my desk aimed at my face to feel comfortable.
All these symptoms started a few days after beginning Lisinopril.
The good thing is that my BP is down nicely.
I am not happy at all with this drug and will tell my Doctor this on Monday. As far as I am concerned, it isn't worth the trouble to keep my BP down.

I am on my 6th day of Levaquin, 500mg for treatment of a sinus infection,... and have experienced no side effects whatsoever. My sinus infection is clearing up nicely...and I also have taken Allegra D, motrin 600mg and a multivitamin with no consequences.however I would do some research on the type of vitamins you're taking as some may prevent the proper absorption of Levaquin into your system (iron). I recommend Levaquin under the supervision of your doctor, but as with all medications you must be aware of the side effects.,and this anti-biotic may be one thats not for you.

My 6 year old son has had all of these more or less. He has been on Singulair for about 5 months. We took him off last Friday when he started having seizures. It is only now that we are connecting the things he has complained about. He is still going through testing but everytime a test is done it is negative. He is in perfect health. The dr.s are stumped. What happens is, he smells a wierd smell. Then he sees lights. After this he has a bad headache and becomes weak so he lays down. Shortly thereafter he stiffens and starts shaking his arms and legs while clinching his hands. He also grunts and makes a buzzing sound and appears as though he only breathes out. the dr.s say it is not seizures but movement disorder and if it is Singulair it should be out of his system within 3 days... He is still having the seizure type fits and its been a week since we took him off singulair. He is still losing his temper and having horrible dreams as well. Cat scan was normal, EEG was normal, blood work is ok, they want to do an MRI but does this sound familiar to anyone?
