I just recently posted about my experience with mirena and had then read some more posts, and I had a thought. With SO MANY of us experiencing these symptoms-can't we do something about it?? Couldn't we send copies of these thousands of posts to Bayer or whomever is the top of mirena, I think it's Bayer. Or someone who can help us! Obviously we're are not all crazy! There is obviously something going on here. I mean I want to make sure other women are aware that this product may not be the greatest thing in the world. Anyone else who has a thought on this msg or reply please.
Thanks for listening!
And blessing to all.

I am 22 and I just started taking femcon almost 3 months ago. I haven't been on birth control in over 2 years and the first month was ok but recently i have been having diarrhea, stomach pains, headaches, heart flutters, and general aches and pains and extreme breast tenderness. Also, when i started taking it 3 months ago i discovered a nickel size dry patch on my neck and in to my face that is itchy, but it is only in that one spot and it wasn't there till i started the meds. I seem to have normal periods which last about 3-4 days, but they are lighter than normal which is good, but I just don't feel right on this medication. I don't know... it is strange... almost like i am anxious about being on it and i never even read the comments and concerns about this med until just now. I have also had trouble getting to sleep at night as well. I want to quit taking them but i am in the middle of my 3rd month...can i quit now? I need to quit them!

I have been on seroquel since july 2006.I take 200 to sleep at night, although in times of stress I add 25mgs pills as needed, and I also take effexor xr 37.5 and 75.First, the good effects- the combo got rid of the crazy highs and deep dark despairs of the lows.It got rid of the compulsions, the anxiety, social phobias lessened, unbidden harming thoughts, and the ocd rituals, and delusions...So it has been a real lifesaver for me.Now, on to the side effects.
I have gone from size 12 to size 16. thats a lot! I know its the seroquel, cause and effect. I got a foot infection from trying on shoes at the outlet mall-(never again) although I have never ever had one before, and i am 55.Guess what- I am still getting flareups of infection 2 1/2 years later! And isnt that a diabetes sign? The rest of the side effects are somewhat helped by drinking water. The side pains, occasional digestive issues, dry mouth, snoring, nonexistant sex life, confusion, memory issues, and the need to consume, and consume, food, are all there.Ive been existing on samples of these meds, but samples are no longer available, and the cheapest price for my meds as above is just over $800 per month.I cant possibly pay for thisI would be happy to take something else that didnt have side effects, and cost less, but what?

I have a question I'm taking the Mirena out due to gain weight and feeling always sick and weak. So what does anyone suggest about the copper 10 year IUD. I was thinking of switching since it doesn't have hormones my gyno's nurse just told me that the Mirena has depot shot medicine which no one has ever told me when I got it put in. So now I know why I've gain weight.

I was taking an over the counter guaifenesin-based cough syrup twice a day (150mg each dose) for approximately 10 days in an attempt to make my cough more productive. A nickel-sized pink patch appeared on the right side of my chin. I continued to take the guaifenesin thinking the reaction on my face was contact dermatitis from my phone. The pink patch turned dark red, then got very swollen (the whole lower side of my face swelled) and began to weep clear fluid. I immediately stopped taking the guai (I hadn't used my phone for days, clearly it was not the culprit). Surrounding the original red patch was a new pink patch which looked like it was going to take the same route, but because I stopped taking the guaifenesin the reaction was never as severe. The hives eventually scaled over and peeled.

I know everything al of you say is true its just so difficult going thru this Dejay told me her doctor said that the chemicals in the brain get altered by the pill and that scares me so much. I dont want to go on a anti depressant I just want to get back on my own but Iam a mess.
Reading this forum everyday is the only thing keeping me going.
I went back to the ER last night because that thing on the roof of my mouth is so weird its like a flap of skin but its thick I was so afraid it was cancer it seems whenever I get something it is magnified 100x I just have all these things happening and I dont know what they are. I was perfectly healthy happy take charge on the go woman.
Now I cant do anythign its so scary.
The ER said they think its a benigh growth perhaps a ulcer or a canker but its attached to the roof of my mouth and its not a piece of skin its pretty thick like a nickel so scary.
Iam at 6 weeks now and you guys all say 2-3 months I hope thats true.

I've had similar reactions to the medications as the people below. Sulfameth 800/160 was prescribed to me because of a cyst (acne) the of a nickel appeared on my cheek. Although the bacteria is slowly dieing, I've been extremely exhausted, unable to fully focus, light headed, some dizzy spells, some lost of appetite, but I make sure to eat before taking the medication. Ive also been feeling some back pain and tension.

Doesn't everyone find it kind of coincidental that all the symptoms that everyone is having run along the same line, and they all have the Mirena IUD. But it seems odd that doctors will continue to tell you that your symptoms are not caused by the Mirena. I had the Mirena inserted in October 2008.In April 2009, I could not feel the strings, so I made an appointment to have it checked. When I went in, I more or less got a lecture about needing to exercise and watch what I eat, because from October to April I had gained 30lbs.
I, personally, have not had any other form of birth control in my life. So, I cannot compare the Mirena to any other. But I have experienced occasional leg cramping, some headaches, break outs, and the two syptoms that bother me the most, are, obviously weight gain, and hair loss. I have been shedding hairs like crazy, not to mention that I have a BALD SPOT on the back of head about the size of a nickel. My doctor also telling me that he does not believe that any of this is caused by the Mirena.
I have decided that I want to get the Mirena removed, just have to figure out how, because currently I have no insurance.
