I've had Mirena for almost a year and I'm wondering if there is anyone who's suffered adverse effects that didn't start until much later. I had the usual severe cramping and excessive bleeding for a few months after I got it, but my period has been pretty regular since then. I do have sharp stabbing pains (I'm guessing they're cramps) off and on. Very occasionally they are just terrible, but normally it's just like a quick shock every now and then. I can tell that there are extra hormones being put into my body because I have experienced all the stereotypical period side-effects (moodiness, cramping, cravings) much more than I ever did before I got Mirena. About two months ago I was sure I was pregnant - I had all the symptoms - but three pregnancy tests all came out negative. I'm not experiencing anything bad enough to get it out. So far it has actually been great. I feel terrible for everyone suffering all these severe side-effects. I guess I'm just wondering if these symptoms show up sooner or if they can start a year or more after Mirena has been in. Please let me know if there's anything I should be watching for. Thanks.

I've been on Lisinopril 20mg for a week now. I have been having the hoarseness, leg cramps, tired (no energy), getting no sleep, and cough. But what worries me most is my blood pressure has dropped to what I think is TO LOW, (example: 87/60, 90/58, 96/66 89/68. I called my dr. 2 days ago and explained my concerns. They told me to cut my 20mg pill in half and we will decide what to do at my next appt. which is in a few days. Even after cutting the pill in half, my bp is still running 96/67, 98/66. Should I demand to be taken off the Lisinopril and be put on a different medication?

My 13yr old niece has always been a healthy, active and straight A student. Then on 11/5/08 during a routine physical, she received her 1st dose of Gardasil. On 11/28/08 she started to complain that she felt weak and had a headache. Since it was 2 days after Thanksgiving we thought that she was tired from all the holiday activities. On 11/29/08 she had a headache and stayed in bed all day. She got up that afternoon & had 2 seizures. She was rushed to the ER.
As of today, March 8, 2009 she is still in the hospital in Intensive Care Unit. She has been in critical condition since. Within 2 days after her seizure, she lost the ability to eat, speak, walk and communicate in anyway. She is completely unresponsive. She is on the ventilator, she is basically in a coma. We do know she has an viral infection with a shadow on the left side of her brain. All of the testing that has been done all show negative for any illness or diseases.
We are still unsure if she will come out of this. This has been completely devastating to our family.
We have no answers from doctors. Even though we know in our hearts that this was a side effects from Gardasil. I don't know if they will ever fully admit it.
We are left to watch and wait. That is what the doctors tell us daily..

An update to my husband's experience after taking Lipitor 10 mgm/day for 4 yrs. He developed Parkinson's disease and stopped taking Lipitor at that time--summer 04. He is taking anti Parkinson's drugs as well as many vitamins and suplements in an attempt to correct some of the damage done by Lipitor. He is fairly stable. My niece's husband who was diagnosed with Parkinson's at the same time as my husband and had been taking Lipitor also, continued on Lipitor for another 1 1/2 yrs. He had a progressive neurodegenerative disease course and died 2 yrs ago. 3 other individuals with whom I am acquainted who have been diagnosed with neurodegenerative diseases have not stopped their Lipitor--one individual's diagnosis has progressed from Parkinson's to Parkinson's with Lewy Body dementia to Multiple Systems Atrophy. this is the same progression my niece's husband experienced. The other 2 individuals are currently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
Husband started taking 1200 mgm of coenzyme Q10/day upon diagnosis of Parkinosn's. This amt has been shown to be beneficial to those with early stage Parkinson's--irregardless of their statin status. Seem all parkinson's patients have abnormally low levels of CoQ10 in their blood--and statins DEPLETE CoQ10. What a set up!!!!!

I was on the NuvaRing for about a year, and in that time I had recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), one which developed into a kidney infection (this required taking antibiotics, which I generally avoid, because it's a rather dangerous infection). I had never had a UTI before, so I asked my doctor more than once if the near-chronic UTIs could be related to the Ring and she said that it was very unlikely; she wasn't aware of that ever being a problem. Shockingly enough, when I finally got fed up in May and threw my NuvaRing in the trash, my problems disappeared: I have had one very mild UTI since then. I'm mad at my doctor, and at the doctors of all the women who have responded to this site. I'm not so naive; I know doctors take money from pharmaceutical companies, but how could so many healthcare professionals ignore many repeated complaints of similar side effects?

I was searching for a site with the side effects of Singulair for my son who is 10 and has been taking Singulair since he was 2. It was a life-saving drug for him and his life has been wonderful since then (as far as asthma goes). He is a very athletic boy who plays every sport he can and he is still a little overweight with cellulite and love handles. I had heard that maybe it might be the Singulair so I decided to check it out. Little did I know about all of these other side effects. He's been taking it for so long that I assumed his depressed personality was just the way he was. He has also had such horrific nightmares and he's convinced he has a ghost in his room that shakes his bed that I was really starting to consider that maybe he might. His brother sleeps in the same room and does not have any of these experiences (also on Singulair). I am SHOCKED! I only read about 20 entries but I'm going to read more. Has anyone had the weight gain problem? Thank you for anything you can share.

Hi all i no there is a lot of side effects, i have had mine for nearly 10 weeks now, hardly any bleeding which is why i got it in the first place, but have gained weight, and still get sharp pains, realistically does this change after the 3-6 months, as i am willing if there is hope of feeling better after this length of time, before i give up, as they say if you have it removed you go through a bad time also

My 11 year old niece has developed (fibroid?) cysts in her breasts, and they say one is the size of a golf ball. She and her sister had said they really didn't think they had had any side effects from the Gardasil, and of course, the doctors say there is no connection. However, she has always been healthy, and these have only developed AFTER the administration of Gardasil.
How many must be harmed before the FDA stands up to the greed of Pharmaceutical companies and all of their human experiments?

I got my Mirena on 6-12-08 and still currently have it. I am 22 years old and have two little girls. Before the Mirena I used pills and the patch and never had any problems at all. This thing is a nightmare! I have been twitching-especially my eyes and lips, I cant get my fingers to stop shaking. I have been experiencing the 'drunk eyes' that bulgebegone mentioned. The cramps have not stopped for the month I've had it, even though I was told it would be a week at the most. Also, like so many other women, I was told that I may spot very lightly for 6-9 months and then stop getting my period-after it was inserted. For the last month I have been hemoraging almost exactly the same as those few days in the hospital after giving birth-when they give you the big diapers to wear! My husband hates it too, when we have been able to have sex, he says most of the time it's ok, but then the strings will poke him and it's a very sharp pain. Last Friday I spoke with my doctor about this to see what options we had and I asked her to shorten the strings and she said no, without an explanation at all! I also just read the article below in an email I received. I am now making an appointment to have this removed!!!!!

I started using Zyrtec recently after my niece received it from her doctor as the solution to her allergies. (We bought it at the drug store). My allergies are skin related where i walk and feel a deep itch in my thighs and anywhere else i have tight clothing. Also when i work out - i have itch deep skin. This is under the surface and very uncomfortable especially when you are walking/working out. Leads to confusion etc. I had never used any allergy medicine before but decided just to see if i would feel any different.
Anyhow, I started using Zyrtec the other day and almost immediately, I started fighting with my boyfriend - everything i was angry with him about came out. It was helpful but also i was very mean in my approach. I also started getting back pains around the spine area - not in the spine but around it and could not sleep until i took an ibuprofen. Today i experienced left shoulder and back pain. That was it for me and whats funny is that i took the lowest possible doze. So i am not touching that medicine again. I am a 36 year old woman. Its a strong medicine and something is strange with it (changes moods etc). I will have to change the medication for my niece before she goes through the side effects.

Developed sleep walking, eating, talking, running machinery and watching TV while I was supposedly asleep. This was witnessed by my niece who was very scared. It lasted for about an hour. This is not the first time but this is the first time someone witnessed it. I had suspected all along because I saw used dishes and empty containers in the kitchen in the morning. Have been off it for 3 days now and thank God. Never will I take it again although it seemed to work well for 2 years. I have gained so much weight from the night eating. That guy on the news who says he drove his car after taking Ambien, I now believe him!

57-year-old female. I took Omnicef Feb 2 thru 11 for sinus infection. Diminished appetite and leg pain at night. I got back my appetite immediately upon finishing the 10-days, but the leg pain is getting worse. It only happens only at night right now, mostly in my hip, knee, & ankle, causing pain to radiate from hip to foot. Now I'm sitting up in the middle of the night & the pain has subsided, but now my leg is tingling. Also some mild numbness in thigh.

i've also noticed the weird headaches right away.i can't seem to shake them.maybe they will go away,i hope so because i'm not the one who is a fan of medicine.my vision has become more blurred and that causes my headaches to worsen,i've already had blurred vision but it has become worse,i believe after it's out of my system, then everything will be back to normal,i just have one question,do you know how long it usually takes to get out of your system.i bet you are wondering why didn't she contact her doctor, well to be honest i wasn't thinking about this medicine,i looked up a medicine that i picked up for my niece calle ciprofloxa something, then that's what made me think of my medication,i couldn't believe some of the symptoms people were having some the same as me.i just really wanted to know if the doctor's really give you medicine for what they say the cause may be or you may have something a little bit mor serious and they don't want to alarm you, just give you medicine and if you take as you told everything will be fine,i'm glad i looked up that for my niece, because i would have never thought to look it up for myself,i expected the medicine had cause those different effects in me,but i always doubt myself, thinking how can i be right,it always end up this way.

jules,
All is forgotten. Great to hear back from u. I hope u have a wonderful day as well. The book I was talking about deals with jump starting the pancreas u r born with. I still have that. They took out the transplanted one. The only part of my "original" pancreas that doesn't work for me is the part that produces the insulin. He talked about if someone is taking insulin then the pancreas gets "lazy" and sits back and refuses to work. As soon as I get some info. on the book (should be any day now) I'll pass some info. along and see what u think. So, I'm very curious about some natural ways to begin feeling better. I'm blessed with a sense of humor that seems to never stop, even if I get down or really sad. I still manage to laugh a little. Not all days r like that. I've learned to be a patient "patient' ha ha My Diabetes is doing well. Most days I don't even feel like I have it. I'm a pro at judging insulin and food intake. I plan when I go out to eat. I really don't feel like I've had a trasplant most of the time. Only when I go see my doctor every three months, it's kind of lke a dose of reality. It's in the dialysis center where I used to go so there's a certain "smell" to that place. Not bad, not good. Brings up alot of memories. I found out that the last doctor's visit that everyone on Dialysis with me, with the exception of four of us) had passed away. That's been four yrs. ago that I had Dialysis. God had Blessed me tremendously. I've been married for 23 yrs. He's 7 yrs older than and so patient. He just laughs and says I keep things hopping. LOL I'm very impressed with your line of work. I took Medical Assisting in college. I do not work. We have no children, we lost three. I'm blessed with two nephews and one niece, and lots of kids at church. That's a handful lol Don't know who u really r , but u r in my prayers. Take care Trailblazen...................................

my 60 yr. old husband experienced hand tremor and tingling, muscle twitching and jerking of legs esp. at night and immediately upon awakening, slowed reaction times, walk without swinging of arm on right side. He was diagnosed with parkinson's disease last week. my niece's husband (57 yr. old) was diagnosed with parkinson's 3 weeks ago! when it was discovered they had the same symptoms and had one major factor in common: BOTH HAD TAKEN LIPITOR FOR 4+ YEARS, i made my husband stop the drug and began researching. since statins result in incredible decrease in the body's ability to manufacture coenzyme Q10 he began on 100 mgm/day of the drug. on his own. when he was diagnosed by the neurologist with parkinson's the physician recommended my husband take coq10 at a dosage of 1200mgm/day! ( He also is taking vit c, selenium, & folic acid)It is still way too early to determine if any benefits will result, but the night and early morning twitching and jerking of his lower extremities has stopped for the past 2 days and the hand tremors have definitely decreased.

I was prescribed 500mg once daily for 7 days for a UTI. At first I thought it was really good because I always react terribly with the weirdest of any possible side effect. In spite of digestive problems, I experienced none with Levaquin and that was simply amazing.
On the third day, I had a hint of bad taste. Nothing to concern me. On the fourth day, I took a niece to the movie and she leaned on mein a way that caused me to lean to my right , straining the left upper leg. The fifth day, the back of that left thigh was so stiff it was difficult to get out of bed, but I attributed it to the way I sat (though it seemed a bit much for that). The pain did not subside all day. I woke this morning and was so incredibly stiff that it was horribly painful to get out of bed. The pain had spread to an area about three times as large as what was hurting yesterday. It became so stiff while at work that I was barely able to walk. Getting out of my chair was excrutiating. It finally dawned on me to check side effects, and this is how I discovered that my notion that the Levaquin was the culprit was on target. By the time I left work, the pain has spread further and tonight it is even more intense, but my doctor has said not to take the remaining dose. I don't know yet whether the Levaquin did or didn't work for it's purpose because it also allowed for a secondary infection that is giving me some of the same problems. Now I am treating taking Macrobid again (which my digestive tract will not like) as well as treating the secondary infection. At this point, I don't know whether the pain in the left upper leg (all of it now, not just the back of the thigh) will get better on it's own or not. I'm keeping fingers crossed.

I was prescribed Cipro for a UTI infection 2x3days the first day I felt really bad! I was tired and had stomach pain along with nausea. The second day I also had stomach pain with headache and tiredness, my mind was foggy as well as my vision was blurred. I took it even though our clinic is against all medication for this exact reason bad reactions and death. I did some research this morning and have STOPPED the Cipro. I will start a 21 day detox to get this out of my system. I will help fight to get this product off the market! My niece is turning 10 years old and she has also been prescribed this medicine she has had many medical problems. It feels great knowing I may finally be able to help her. I know god has forced the infection upon me to help others. Please!! do the research before you take any medicine only you can make the decision. WE ONLY HAVE ONE BODY TAKE CARE OF IT!!! NO ONE ELSE CAN DO IT FOR US!!!
