I'm still trying to find out if my symptoms are associated with Yasmin, but I STRONGLY believe they are. I can't believe I didn't pu the pieces together sooner. I've been on Yasmin close to 4 years... it was pretty new when I started taking it for my PCOS. For the last two years (yes, two years!) I've been experiencing extreme nausea and upset stomach and my resistance to illness/allergies has been non-existent. I've noticed that I feel depressed and lack a lot of energy. My sex drive wanes... sometimes it's nill and other times I can't get enough. I've had endoscopies, colonoscopies, blood work, etc... but nothing ever came back conclusive on anything particular. After my last cycle, it took me about a week to get my new pack and guess what? I felt somewhat normal! My sex drive came back and my gastrointestinal issues subsided. I'm going to stop taking it completely and see if it solves my "mystery illnesses".

Hi everyone

Have decided to quit taking Yasmin after reading all your comments. I was due to start a new cycle today but after finally talking with my husband about how I am on this pill and putting it all together with the help of this site I have decided that this is not the one for me! I have a problem in that I live in a country where I barely speak the language and BCP is bought over the counter. I have no idea what to do in terms of trying another pill or what pill people might suggest??

Last week my mood has been horrific (work has been stressful and I put my snapping and bad mood down to that but its no less stressful today and I feel fine) I have had a fairly laid back weekend and feel more energetic (or is this due to being free of the pill for a week??)

My sex drive is still nill so the chances of unwanted pregnancy at this stage is negligable and I feel that I should make the right decision next time.

Any ideas??????

I was on Yasmin for 17 days, when I decided the side effects were too annoying to continue. My breasts grew almost an entire cup size and hurt badly. I was feeling weepy for no reason. I had occasional leg cramps and stomach cramps/diarrhea. I am on a minimal dose of prozac for depression, so birth control is always tricky with my mood. I just felt in a fog. Sexual libido was nill. I went off of it exactly one week ago. But I still feel weepy for no reason at least once a day. And I still feel overly tired. My libido seems to be coming back, but just not the same yet. Prozac is another possible hinderance on this, but I have been on it for a few years and it never had this effect before.
Has anyone else who went off of Yasmin had continuing side effects/ withdrawal symptoms? I just want to go back to feeling like me again. I suppose it will take maybe one cycle for my hormones to balance out again? Thanks for any input.

WOW! I am thrilled and amazed to have found this website. About two years ago, my doctor put me on Yasmin to remedy my severe bloating during PMS. She told me that Yasmin has a diuretic component and should help. My first month on Yasmin, I passed out in church. I literally took a header, knocking my head on the pew in front of me. (My poor husband - my 6-year old daughter starts yelling "what did you do to mommy?!") Anyway, the doctor in the congregation told me it was probably the heat (doubtful since it doesn't get oppressively hot in San Diego) and I didn't think twice about it.

While it did help me with the water retention (although I never had complete relief), I gained a good 15 pounds in those two years (not changing my diet, remaining active, etc.), my digestive system BLOWS, and my normally healthy sex drive has been reduced to nill. However, I thought it was just me and didn't make a possible link to Yasmin until after reading this forum.

Thanks to my darling husband getting a vasectomy, I went off the pill this month for good. My question is this... I have been feeling extremely bloated almost immediately after going off. Has anyone experienced this and, if so, how long before those symptoms go away, if ever? Am I doomed to a life of diuretics?

Thanks ladies!
