My son has epilepsy. Last year I remember him being put on antibiotic and nasonex for his sinus infection, (Sept. 2008) he had 13 tonic clonic seizures in one day!
This year, he has been put on antibiotic and nasonex again (2 sprays in each nostril twice a day) and he had 4 tonic clonic seizures in one day!
I believe it is from the nasonex that his seizures has increased so much. He has been constipated, swallowing like his throat hurts, very swollen sinuses, acts like he is depressed, squints his eyes like he has a headache. The worse thing is he cannot tell me something hurts, he cannot communicate much at all because he is special needs. I can only go by his body language or if he is running a fever. This morning I did not give him the nasonex, I used only saline spray to rinse his sinuses. After reading everyone's side effects I went and threw all the nasonex in the trash!! My son will go to ENT on Monday and the ENT better not tell me to put my son back on nasonex because I will not do it!! I will only be using saline spray from now on on my son's sinuses.

I had terrible sinus problems combined with my deviated septum. Swollen nostrils, constant nasal drip, couldn't sleep at night, and terrible sore throat in the morning. Started taking nasonex two months ago... Stopped all my problems in a few days. After two weeks I was only spraying each nostril once about 2-3 times a week. My periods are always every 28 days and my past period was 10 days late, I am still waiting for this months period (over a week late). I realized it has to be the nasonex. Along with menstrual problems, I have had terrible nightmares, acne problems (for the first time ever, I'm 24), a few nosebleeds, headaches that have lasted over 4 days, and itchy skin. I didn't put it all together until I saw this website. I will not be spraying my nose again, from now on I will be using the nedi pot.

I am deeply saddened to read all of these posts! I have a dear relative of mine who is suffering due to Lupron shots as you all are! Same symptoms same everything!

I did not know much of Lupron until she contacted me. My family knows that all my life I have struggled with health issues so they call on me for advice. It caused me to research Lupron for months. I am so glad it did, bc I was not aware that Lupron was so MUCH like Synarel was for me in my youth (I am 44 now).

I was prescribed this new unheard of Synarel for endo. It medical induced menopause-shrinking my uterus to the size of a walnut. I didn't care much about all that bc I was in pain w endo & cysts and was having way too many laps done. So I took this Synarel! You sniff 1 shot in 1 nostril am, and 1 shot in other nostril in pm. Suffice it to say that day built up and led me to 2002 where I had my oophorectomy-salpingo total hysterectomy.

I am in surgical menopause - and ladies so are you!! That is why all the terrible, terrible side effects! Losing hair, arthritis, hip fracture, hot flashes, insomnia, no libido, prolapse, etc. Just look at your mom, grandma, great grandma - you are experiencing their (age) symptoms. And doctor are saying that's a "normal" side effect of Lupron. Well of course it is your in Menopause!

THE GREAT NEWS is that there is help, answers, and health you just have to find it. I have been "finding" it since 2002 from all the resources I blog about and list on my blog (books, authors, doctors, pharmacies, websites, etc.). I am NOT a doctor just a woman who has been seeking answers to a life-long battle and who is FINALLY finding answers from those who have paved the way for me!

I would be honored if you would visit my blog and perhaps empower and arm yourself with the same information I have spent years researching!

I wish you all health, happiness and peace in these terribly difficult times you are going thru - there is light at the end of this tunnel - DON"T GIVE UP!

I went to the doctor with complaints of possible mold/fungus in my lungs which got better on it's own - but progressed to a throat infection. Later, my right nostril was runny for a while, which progressed into a blockage/infection of my middle ear. The doctor agreed - I have no compacted wax or anything wrong with my outer ear, so it seems to be a middle ear infection. He prescribes Biaxin XL 500mg for seven days, for my combination of ailments.

By the first day, I had a very vivid wet dream. Awesome, I guess. Then the second day I start with diarrhea, and another vivid dream. Today is the third day, and I slept before work. Had another vivid dream about someone building a house for me - and really runny stool. I can hardly call it diarrhea - more like urinating from my anus. Anyway.

Blockage in my ear went away the second day, but it's back again. I searched the net to explain the diarrhea (hopefully find something explaining the expulsion of bacteria causes this, but no, just a 'side effect' I suppose). I'm going to take some Imodium as soon as I can to battle the diarrhea, and hopefully things will get better by the end.

I can't complain about the dreams though. No nightmares yet, and I enjoy remembering my dreams, so...

I had a lap done last year in May and my doctor removed an adhesion that was hanging above my uterus. Also a fibroid (3 cm) was found in the muscle and is located right against my bladder. My doctor could not remove the fibroid because of its location and because of a risk that I might have scar tissue and could be a problem to get pregnant. He also said that I could have some other complications, like lose a lot of blood. I feel like he is not being straight with me. I also have ovarian cysts which is common in the women in my family. Since a teenager, I always had really bad cramps and heavy bleeding. As I got older, it became worse. Before I had the lap done, I bleed for 6 weeks straight. I was changing pads every 30 minutes. Then my stomach extended so far out that I looked pregnant. I could not sit or stand. My husband had to take me to the E.R. An ultrasound was done and found that my uterus was enlarged (9 cm). I was put on Nothridone to control the bleeding and to treat endometriosis. After taking 2 months of this drug my doctor did a vag lap and abdomen lap. Everything was good that is what he said. I believed it. I was doing better. I was working and had no pain for 8 months. Then it all changed for the worse. I started to have really heavy menstrual bleeding and lots of blood clots. I felt week all the time and sick. The bleeding went on for 8 weeks and finally my doctor said that I had to take Lupron injections. I asked my doctor if he could just do a myomectmy and he said no because that was should be the last result. I could no longer stand the pain and I asked him what kind of side effects come with this drug. He made it sound like it was not bad and that there are very little side effects. He gave me a some information about the drug and I read the information and I did a lot of research. I was terrified but I had to make a choice. I was calling in sick because I could not work with the pain and worrying about embarrassing moments when my pads failed to keep me from overflowing. So I took the 1st shot in May along with add-bak therapy which is Nothridone. The bleeding tapered off slowly and the pelvic pain decreased. I did not feel any side affects right away until the second week. I started to forget things and would just stand in the middle of a room feeling confused. I always had headaches since a child but now they are pounding headaches, which I cannot stand any noise. I also can't stand the light. I have body aches like I have the flu and have problems with my right hip all of a sudden. I had a x-ray done because my doctor thought I might have fractured my hip. There was no sign of a fracture but my pelvis id tilted. I have some arthritis in my spine which I do not understand how that happened. Sometimes I cannot walk and I have to use crutches to get around. I cry all the time because I am extremely sensitive and confused. I use to be a very strong person and now I just cry all the time. I called my doctor to tell him what I have been experiencing and he said its all normal. I have already had a total of three Lupron injections and the symptoms just get worse. I have been spotting here and there, sometimes I have a pinkish discharge, and now the pelvic pain is back. My doctor knows this and he just says its normal. I requested for another ultrasound because I am worried something is wrong and he said that I have to wait until I get the 6th injection.I feel like my doctor is insensitive but he is supposed to be the best GYN doctor where I live. I also want to say that I have gained 20 pounds in three months. My sex drive is gone. My hair is thinning. I lost my job because I ran out of FMLA. This has been a nightmare! I am losing trust in my doctor. My poor husband and family are having to put up with what I am going through. I pray all the time to help be stay focused and think positive. I just do not know what to do anymore. Is there anyone out there that can give me some advice?

This spray has saved my marriage. I only use it once in each nostril at bed time and it is enough relief to get me through the night without struggling to breathe and waking up my light-sleeping husband. As it says to only use for 3 days, I had some concern about side effects and dependency, but after almost 3 weeks of this once a day dosing, I have no complaints to report. I still haven't shaken my sinus infection, but it is much abated and I continue to use alcohol and neti pots to rinse and moisture my sinuses. One of my biggest downfalls is my failure to consume enough fluids, which exacerbates the sinus infections. I work at it, but it is hard for me to drink when I am not thirsty.

Singular has been recommended to my 3 1/2 year old son. I didn't feel good about it, so I declined and decided to look up possible side effects. Wow! I will NOT be giving it to him!
I have always been cautious on giving him antihistamines because prior bad side effects (which I never heard anyone else complain about).
When he was a few months old, he had cold like symptoms (runny nose, congestion, etc.) and was really suffering. I gave him the over-counter Pediacare and he could breathe better but he became something out of a horror film. He screamed constantly for over 48 hours and did NOT sleep a wink! Like a "crack baby" or something. (I assure you I am not exaggerating). I too became sleep deprived and crazed by his constant screaming, it took me some time to realize it was the meds. When I quit giving it to him, he became normal again. I decided I had to deal with the symptoms and not give him meds.
A year later, different medicine, I tried again. Same results.
When he was 2 1/2 we took a road trip from KY to KS. I thought I would try Benedryl, he had 2 older syblings that it benefited. NOT for him. He became "crazy" and screamed to the top of his lungs for the entire 12 hour drive. I vowed never again (for him or his family).
I have had success with Claritin in less than normal dosing. With no side effects. I have been assured, however, that Singular would work better for the symptoms. No thanks.
I feel really bad everyone this has effected negatively. I understand the side effects first hand.
I too have heard of the "antihistamine blocker" but don't know if it works.
I plan on trying a "nettie pot" (natural alternative) and have heard great allergy success stories. You can get them for about $5 at Walmart.
Hang in there parents! Do what you have to do for your child. Trust your instinks even over the Peditrician. I love Docs but YOU know your child. :)

I was prescribed nasonex, and an antibiotic for an infection with terrible stuffiness and getting so dried out at night that my uvula would swell up, but go back to normal during the day..... That got better by 4th day of antibiotics, but I would feel dizzy , lightheaded and nauseous a few hours after using the nasonex. The one nostril burned, and then bled when i blew it. Day 5 and my uvula is covered in white spots as well as the back of my throat..... thrush i believe. Never had thrush before, but sure the nasonex caused it.

I'm surprised I haven't seen this one here. After taking 2 sprays in each nostril for a month, I woke up with a swollen throat and hard to swallow. Thinking it was strep throat I went to doc and right away he said, "you have thrush". It was not a fun thing to have, it even went down my esophagus. The treatment for that was not fun either, sucking on big pills 5x a day for a week, they left the roof of my mouth sore. I think the manufacturer should pay for my side effect treatment, I was just an unsuspecting seasonal allergy sufferer.

For only three days I have been taking 2 squirts of Nasonex in each nostril once a day. At the end of day 3, I have developed terrible hand tremors (like Parkinson's) whenever I pick up a glass of water or something heavy.
I know it's from the Nasonex because I didn't have this ever before!
It's very scary. Also, I have had really confusing, freaky dreams at night.
It's going in the garbage!!!

Had sinus surgery that was a success in Feb. 2008. ENT said to use Nasonex, 2 squirts ea. nostril, twice a day for the rest of life. After one month I started having tremors in body and my hands would not stop shaking. I bought sinus buster over internet & think I will stop using the Nasonex.

I am a 34 year old male and have been using Advair for about four years. My (allergy/sport induced) asthma had never been what I would call "severe" but it certainly was limiting when running. And it was very annoying getting that deep whezzing. Since moving to the east coast the alergies became worse. My breathing curve was that of 64-year-old.

In addition to Advair (1 puff 2x daily) I also take Alegra-D in the morning and regular Alegra before bed - I also take rhinocort - one shot each nostril - morning and night.

Now my breathing curve is that of a 40 year old and I have not taken my "emergency inhaler" in years. In fact I just got a new prescription because the last inhaler had expired - though I never used it.

I regularly race triathlons and even cold water only occasionally makes me wheeze (salt water more so). I really hard workout of wind sprints will occasionally trigger wheezing - ususally if the humidity is high or the cold is really cold.

No problems with weight gain. I did have a bought of sinus infections last year, but had not had until this weekend for over 9 months.

I have had "head rushes" and dizzying - particularly after coffee - recently - over the last couple of weeks. I have not attributed it to the Advair, but will keep that as a possibility as I do more research into the side-effects of Advair.

I have the usual fatique. Weight gain. I take it in combination with Hyzaar for blood pressure control and heart. The dose was recently increased to 50mg once daily. Symptom I'm questioning as possible side effect is frequent nosebleeds. They started about the same time as dose increase, continue every 2 days or so because the membranes seem to be very thin and the arterie starts up again. Cauterized once, didn't help. One nostril. I have plenty of information on nosebleeds and stopping them but the cause eludes me. I'm over 70 and healthy and active. Thank you. Con

I have been taking Singulair with Flonase for one week (as treatment for chronic sinusitis) and two nights ago I was at a concert and experienced spots entering my vision from both sides until I was completely unable to see, though my friend told me my eyes were open. Then my legs went to jelly. My friends tried to help me sit down but I couldn't balance myself. I fell down and was out cold for about 5 seconds while my friends panicked and tried to get help, but I woke up right away and was ok after that. I have never blacked out or fainted before in my life though. I've also been experiencing anxiety and mood swings in the last week which are very unusual for me.

Hi everyone,

I took Yasmin for about two years, with increasing severe side effects that finally caused me switch to another brand. Everything was fine for the first few months or so, then gradually I started experiencing symptoms that I would normally link to PMS, but I was having them all throughout the month. Each month it got worse and worse until I'd finally had enough.

My GYN repeatedly told me it was just taking my body a while to adjust to the medication, and to try to wait it out because I'd really like it once I got used to it, but after two years I figured I had waited long enough. It shouldn't take that long for my body to adjust!

I've been off Yasmin for about three months now and I have had a dramatic reduction in the symptoms I had been experiencing for about a year and a half. As I've previously said, my symptoms didn't appear all at once, but built up gradually over the course of several months. Specifically, my symptoms were:

*Extremely oily skin and really bad acne on my chest, back and face. When I say really bad, I mean it was worse than when I went thru puberty, which was pretty bad. The pimples on my face in particular were very deep and painful cystic acne, which is something I had not experienced before. I also broke out in weird places like my neck, around my ears and eyes and on my head (under my hair). And one time just inside my nostril. Ouch! I tried everything, including a dermatologist who advised Accutane (which I declined), nothing helped.

*My hair was also a lot oilier than normal. I didn't notice any thinning of the hair on my head, but I did notice that I was waxing my legs a lot less often, which was just fine with me. I have a lot of hair (genetic, thanks Mom and Dad!) and I usually get my legs waxed every month, but after I'd been on Yasmin for a while I was going almost four months between waxings. I have really thick hair on my head that grows like a weed, so it's possible that it thinned some and I just didn't notice. So that's one side effect that I really didn't mind.

*I started having frequent headaches that would linger for days. Not migraines, because I also get those from time to time, but a "milder" headache that felt like constant heavy pressure behind my eyes and all around my head. OTC meds were no help at all. I also had periodic cramps in my calves for no apparent reason (not due to exercising or injury).

*My breasts became swollen and incredibly sore. Again, this would occur all through the month. I had to buy a couple of new bras to accomodate the swelling and tenderness. I avoided any activity that would cause my breasts to move or jiggle at all, even walking briskly, because it was so painful. Showering was painful. Even wearing a soft tee shirt was too much sometimes.

*My periods gradually became heavier and longer, which is exactly the opposite effect from what I've experienced in the past with other BCP's. I also started having pretty intense menstrual cramps throughout my period and then at random times during the month. I would sometimes get light-headed when I was having these major cramps, to the point where I would lose my balance and fall or have to sit down immediately. Every once in a while, when I was having these cramps, I would experience a brief, stabbing-type pain that would literally take my breath away. My GYN was unconcerned about this, and told me that I was just having some side effects that would go away in time.

*I also experienced a fairly drastic increase in my normal vaginal secretions, all throughout the month. I started wearing panty liners all the time (which I'd never done before) and often changed my underwear in the middle of the day because I felt so gross. I sometimes carried an extra pair of panties in a ziplock in my purse. This discharge wasn't itchy or particularly smelly, so it wasn't a yeast infection or anything, just a lot more volume than usual. My GYN tested me for everything under the sun and everything came back normal. She told me it was "just my body adjusting" blah blah blah. At this point, I was really getting sick of hearing that phrase.

*The straw that finally broke the camel's back was when I started spotting all the time. With everything else, I felt like I was having my period all month long and I was miserable. I also had some of other symptoms, like anxiety attacks, insomnia, severe mood swings, foggy thinking, feeling tired all the time and feeling depressed but I have a long history of Major Depression, which I take medication for, so I attributed those symptoms to my existing condition. I can't say for sure whether Yasmin caused those symptoms, but I do know that they have pretty much disappeared or are under better control since I stopped taking Yasmin.

I've been off Yasmin for about three months now, and all of these symptoms I've listed are gone. My skin looks great, the enduring cramps are gone and my breasts feel normal again. Of course, my hair is growing faster again, but I'm willing to give up that one benefit in exchange for all of those symptoms being gone. I've switched to OrthoCyclen and I have not had any problems with it.

I'm sorry this is so long, but I needed to tell all of this to people who would understand what I've been through. I feel so bad for the women here whose stories are much worse than mine. I know everyone responds to medications differently, and Yasmin seems to work just fine for some women, but it seems to me that there are a lot more women all having problems and side effects. It can't be coincidence that we all have such similar horror stories about Yasmin. I guess the bottom line is listen to your body, and don't allow your doctor or anyone else to bully you into taking a medication that you know is causing you more harm than good. Thanks for reading my story and I hope we can all find solutions that will work for each of us.

Been taking this for 3 days now. Side effects to me are similar to taking ephedrine .... makes you a little hyper for a few hours and ur heart beat faster, but also the loss of appetite. Other then that no problems. I take one in the morning be4 I go to work(around 5:30am) and one after I get home(2:30-3pm). I sleep fine(go to bed around 10-11pm). Seems to be working ... drains me out good ... only thing that sucks is my nose is super dry from blowing it all the time lol. My doc paired it with Nasacort AQ that I spray twice in each nostril right after i take the Guaifen pills and so far it's worked great, only 1 nosebleed that just happened today at work but thats because I blew a little to hard heh.

I received a kenelog injection for severe allegeries last week. After years of different sinus/allergy medications, I was referred to an ENT for care. Within 5 min, of the office visit the dr. numbed my nose and injected each nostril with kenalog. He did not warn me of the side effects. I now have insomnia, dry mouth, frequent urination, and a "larythargic like" feeling that has not gone away. But my allergies are better that they have been in years. I wish I would have done some research before the injections. Not sure if I will try this again.

I have been taking 2 squirts per day, per nostril of Nasonex for 6 weeks now. After one week, I noticed that I had 'air-hunger' (ie desire to breathe very deeply and finding breathing unsatisfying) and the urge to yawn repeatedly. This has got worse up to the current day and I have found that I have to stop using Nasonex as breathing has become distressing. Got checked out by my doctor who says I am physiologically ok.

I've also had more trouble seeing after using 1 spritz of Nasonex in each nostril once a day (for several months). I've also felt progressively more tired. Most concerning, and my reason for being here, is that I developed a Rosacea-like condition. My dermatologist dx'd me with mild Rosacea, which is unbelievable to me, as my family line has nothing like this in it. When I did a Net search on Rosacea, it mentioned that steroids can cause this condition. Also, Rosacea is progressive and can damage the eyes and even cause loss of vision. So, if you suspect that this nasal steroid is affecting your vision, I'd recommend getting off of it. Oral and nasal steroids can become systemic if taken for long periods of time. This is common knowlege in medical circles. I took myself off of Nasonex today and am already starting to feel better.
