I am sooo glad i read everyone's comments on this horrible BC pill!
I hate it! I have gained over 15 lbs and look so completely different, my face, my body, my stomach. None of my clothes from last summer fit me this summer. I was a size 4 and now a 6 is pushing it. I look so fat and was retaining so much water, I took an EPT test because I thought I was pregnant. Anyway - I have been off it for some months now and I'm just wondering when and if all this FAT will go away. I feel so ugly and uncomfortable and this pill was nothing but a nightmare. Mood swings...forget about it! Scary b**h was me. And now I don't even get normal periods anymore. It was such a HORRIBLE experience I don't think I will EVER take a BC pill again...its not worth it! Im 40 yrs old and don't need the extra weight, drama and all the rest of this crap pill. It sucks!

Hi, I just had mirena put in a little over a week ago and it has nothing but a nightmare for me.The day I had it put in I had extreme cramping and im having heavy bleeding. The cramps finally stopped yesterday but i still am having heavy bleeding. However ever since three days after having it put in I have been having severe anxiety attacks to the point were im feel like im going to pass out or even die.when i go out to eat i have a panic attack and the restaurant its very embarrassing and scary.I have never had this feeling before. All day i feel completely out of it and have confusion through out the day.Its very scary.I went to my family doctor and he prescribed anxiety meds.Im definitely calling my ob tomorrow first thing and telling him about this.I thought there could be no way my anxiety was being of mirena but im starting to think so.I feel so relieved knowing im not the only one going through this nightmare. How long after getting it taken out do u start feeling better?

I feel like Yasmin ruined my life.
I went on the pill in May of 2005, first 2 months I was fine. Summer of '05 rolled around and I was nauseous every night. I also felt like I had anxiety issues, and started crying every night (especially while watching the news, haha.)
Septemper of '05 I started having extreme chest pains. I went to a Doctor away at school, and was told I had acid reflux disease.
Not knowing the cause of Acid Reflux (I was originally told it could be an onset of stress,) when I returned from school during Christmas break, and went to my regular MD, who said it was a possibility I got it from the Yasmin. When I confronted my (now FORMER) gyno, she said she had "never heard of such."
Finally home from school for good this spring, I got a few tests done and switched to a new gyno. Turns out the problem was my YASMIN. My MD AND new gyno both told me that in the past few months they have had tons of people come in with numerous problems from Yasmin, and that everyone is getting off of it. (Most likely from their "extra" chemical they brag about during the commercials.)
It's disappointing I had to suffer a year of my life from being nauseous all of the time, crying every night for no reason, and STILL having severe cramps even though the pill was "supposed" to help.
Yasmin has been nothing but a nightmare for me, and tonight I start LoEstrin 24. Hopefully I won't have to comment on this site about LoEstrin's side effects, but I have to say I was kind of relieved to read that I wasn't the only one who had SO many issues with this pill. :/

Loestrin 24 Fe has been nothing but a nightmare for me. I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for about a year (originally prescribed for a sudden, random outbreak of HORRIBLE chin acne), and started noticing depression, mood swings, very heavy periods, and severe stomachaches and indigestion problems about nine months into it. I had to switch doctors in order to get off of it...I was seeing a male doctor who thought that my side effects were "in my head" and wanted me to take 5000 blood tests before he'd switch my prescription. My new doctor prescribed Loestrin 24 Fe during my first visit with her.
The first month of my new pill was great; no mood swings, no depression, no issues...I even dropped five pounds, even though the Ortho hadn't given me a problem with weight gain. I didn't get my period until the second day of the new pill pack though, and it was VERY light. I took a pregnancy test that came out negative, even though my husband and I had used back-up methods the first month of the pills to be safe. One week into the second month of my Loestrin pills, everything went crazy. It's been three weeks and not only is my chin AND my forehead completely broken out, but my hair is falling out in clumps when I wash or brush it, I am completely depressed and unhappy with life, I am exhausted beyond belief, AND I have gained a total of TWELVE POUNDS. I am a very physically fit girl...I eat right, I have always had a very fast metabolism, I have been a size 0/1 for years, I work all day and am on the go all day and all evening...and now I am twelve pounds heavier in three weeks and have jumped to a size 4/5. None of my work clothes fit me anymore, and I feel awful. I have taken seven home pregnancy tests just to be sure and have even gone in to the doctor for a professional test, but everything has come out negative.
I am apparently switching to another pill (or whatever will work) today; I'm waiting for my doctor to call and discuss my options as I type this. Ladies, if your doctor suggests this stuff, please take my advice and DON'T try it. It has been nothing but hell for me over the past several weeks. Save yourself the time, money, aggravation, and lost pounds and stay away from Loestrin.
