Nothing works symptoms and conditions

I have been using the Nuvaring for about 3months. After my second child my doc put me on yaz and I was having really bad headaches and nausea. We thought it was b/c I was forgetting to take my pills so she put me on NR. My life has been a whirlwind since then. Migraine headaches once a week, extreme fatigue, extreme dizziness and nausea. I've had MRI's and catscans done and then they diagnosed me with Vertigo. I ended up going to therapy etc...Nothing works. After 3 months of being miserable I decided to take out the NR the day after it had been inserted because my symptoms were so bad. Sure enough, within hours I was feeling better. I will NEVER use this again!!

I'm having a LOT of trouble sleeping! I can go to sleep, but I don't stay asleep, and when I wake up, I just feel like my muscles are all tensed up and I need to stretch out all the time. I toss and turn and can't get rid of that feeling like I want to jump out my own skin. I'm tired all the time because I can't sleep...I've tried taking it at different times throughout the day, and nothing works.

I HAVE BEEN ON METHADONE FOR ABOUT 4YEARS NOW AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH WEIGHT MY ENTIRE LIFE.NOW I MIGHT EAT A SMALL MEAL A DAY DUE TO MY ILLNESS AND I EXCERCISE AS MUCH AS I CAN AND NOTHING WORKS. I HAVE A CHRONIC ILLNESS (with several operations) AND HAVE ASKED MY DOCTOR IF METHADONE IS THE PROBLEM TO MY WEIGHT GAIN. OF COURSE HE SAID NO POSSIBLE WAY.I HAVE ASKED TO CHANGE MY MEDICATION TO SOMETHING EQUAL TO WHAT I AM TAKING AND WAS TOLD THAT I WAS ON SUCH A HIGH DOSE AGE (160MG) IT WOULD TAKE A VERY HIGH DOSE OF ANOTHER MEDICINE TO BE ADEQUATE.I JUST WANT TO FEEL O.K AND TRY TO LIVE MY LIFE AS ELL AS I CAN WITH DEALING WITH A CHRONIC ILLNESS AND NOT BEING OVERWEIGHT JUST FOR BREATHING.HELP!!!!!

Thank goodness I typed in "Dry cough "and "gag." I found this site and now I know WHY I can't seem to get over this "cold."

I've been on lisinopril for about 3.5 weeks and I was beginning to think I had suddenly developed allergies. I get this terrible tickle and I try to fight it, because I know once I start coughing, it will take a while to settle down again. My eyes water, my head throbs, and I reach a point of nearly gagging. In addition, I get to deal with the added pleasures of menopausal stress incontinence. I'm MISERABLE!

I've been needing to schedule an MRA for another non-related issue, and I have been putting it off due to concerns about being in the MRI machine and not being able to catch my breath.

Thanks to all of your input here, I'm calling my doctor tomorrow. Enough is enough!

I am glad I found this site before I got rid of my puppy. I had the Kenalog shot also back in mid summer of 07. I had a bad case of poison ivy at the time and the shot got rid it. For a month or so I was rash free then I started itching on my head,back and sides. I hate to even brush my hair because it is coming out (thank God I have thick hair). My back still itches and the rash is mainly around my elbows and lower part of my legs. But I will not be wearing shorts this summer unless I can get rid of it. It really looks bad and the itch is almost unbearable sometimes. I have tried several creams and nothing works now I know why. Anyway I thought my puppy was the cause of this until now. I had other side effects but this rash is the worse one and I hope the last.

One month ago I went into CHF, I have cardiomyopathy and A-fib. They put in an ICD that paces. I was sent home on Toprol 50 2x/day .Lisinopril 5 1x/day, Digoxin 125 1x/day & Coumadin. I weigh 86 lbs. These heart meds zapped all the life I had remaining out of me. Even at half doses I was in a fog with severe anxiety. I felt so bad I was readmitted 2x/ in a month. I have tried to take them at night, I have tried spacing them and nothing works other than being drug free. (Coumadin is not a problem) The Dr said there are some folks who just can't tolerate them, and that my real protection comes from my ICD. I worry about not taking the meds, but I have no quality of life with them so what can I do?

I'm a 37 year old female and have severe asthma and allergies and have used pregnisone on and off for 30 years. I believe I am the poster child for the long term side effects. My immune system is shot to the point that my normal medicines for asthma (ventolin, advair) and allergies (tylenol sinus, claritan, visine A) and ezcema (elidel, hydrocortisone, etc. - - NOTHING works!

In the past 6 months, I have developed various infections that the doctors have not been able to identify. My eyes are swollen and red with large amount of white/yellow secretions. Vaginal secretions. Face swollen. Skilled covered in a rash with ezcema out of control. Sharp pains in my back and stomach. Constant asthma. Abnormal hair growth. It is to the point that it is impossible to function and each doctor just wants to prescribe more pregnisone. I feel as if my body is a walking time bomb and it is so full of all the cortisone from over the years and has just decided no more.

I admit that I too readily believed in the doctors when they would rapidly prescribe the pregnisone. Only now am I paying attention to the long term side effects.

Has anyone had tests done to test their immune system and other organs for damage? Thanks and best to our pregnisone club.

Hi. I started the NR about 5 weeks ago and for the first few weeks I was fine but then started experiencing leg cramps, chest pains, more gas than usual and even swollen down there! WTF! I literally took the thing out as I was reading all these comments on here! SCARY STUFF!!! I am waiting a few days and if the swelling does not go away I am going in asap! I have tried all sorts of B.C. but nothing works for me! Thank god my husband just went and had a vasectomy (SP)! But still have to becareful for a few months...no more babies for this mommy. I too have nothing new to add just wanted to share my experience. I had severe bylateral ear infections accompanied by a sinus infection. My dr. gave me 10 days of augmentumn (sp?) it didn't work so she then prescribed 10 days of Levaquin (poison!) my insurance company didn't approve it at first so the pharmacy put a call into my dr.'s office and was waiting for an alternative. I was in so much pain from the ear infections that I did the single worst thing that I regret in my life. I called my insurance company and had them overide the rejection and approve the medicine, I wish to God I didn't. I did ask them if it was a controversial medication and they said no, just that it needs to be approved. Well, I started on Monday July 2nd and by Wednesday July 5th my knees started to ache really bad, just thought I walked a little too much on the 4th (nothing out of the ordinary I walk all the time and swim) well I thought it would subside and NEVER ever ONCE thought it was due to an antibiotic (aka levaquin/poison). I experienced sleeplessness and nauseau and didn't think anything of it, I know most antibiotics can make you nausiated. Well, by Sunday I could barely walk and when I had to crouch down to get something, I had tears in my eyes trying to stand up, the burning in my knees was unbearable and I still didn't relate it to the medicine, I had NO idea! Well, by Tuesday I took my 9th dose and my ears had felt better but my knees were getting worse, so I woke up on Wednesay and didn't take the medicine and then called the dr.'s. I asked if this could be related to the medication because it's not getting better, and the nurse said, I've never heard of that before, but hold on. She came back and stated "it says a side effect can be tendonitis and she said I needed to come in right away" I saw the dr. and she said, yes it's a side effect but it happens mostly in teenagers, but she was a little concerned that I was still having severe joint pain more than 24 hours after stopping the medication and that she wanted to do a lyme test. She told me that even if the lyme came back negative she was going to put me on dicylomine (sp?) for 3 weeks as a precaution because lyme tests can produce false negatives. She said wait another 24 hours and if I'm still in pain then she will prescribe the lyme meds. Well, 24 hours past and I got the lyme back, negative, my knees were killing, my muscles started to shake in my upper thighs and I was getting vibrating sensation along with muscle contractions. I called them back and on Friday and stated that I did some research on Levaquin and this is a side effect of the medication and I am NOT taking another antibiotic for a disease that I don't have! They asked me if I could wait until Tuesday to come see the dr because she was on vacation and I agreed hoping that my pain would subside with the prescription motrin and some ice. By Saturday (yesterday) it was moving down to my left shin and both the back of my ankles were killing like they were stiffl. I called and they said to put warm heat packs on and take the motrin and they would see me tomorrow if necessary. Well, the trembling in my legs were so bad that I had to take a diazapam to calm them down (which I didn't want to because I wanted to measure the pain, but couldn't stand it any longer) and put heat packs all day. I got some sleep last night (most likely due to the diazapam) I think the ice is worse for this but it feels better at the time. I am NOT getting any better, what is going on with me? I cannot believe this company has not been put out of business! I am going to see the dr's on Tuesday and am treating my condition as if it's tendonitits, I am now experiencing the muscle contractions in my arms. I am drinking water like it's my job and trying to stay off my legs with just a bit of stretching. I do pilates and go to the gym but have not gone since the 2nd of July the day I started the medication and am getting frustrated because I need to go for my back (arthritis of the spine with some herniated discs which are killing me now because I haven't been able to excersie or stretch). I am SO furious that this drug is on the market, the nurse said that it was a serious but RARE side effect to the drug and that she has never heard of anyone having it, well I don't think it's as rare as they would like to think and would like to do something about getting it taken off the market!

PLEASE tell me PLEASE has anyone just ONE person recovered from this HORRIBLE nighmarish pain and anguish? I am looking for that one beacon of hope that others have recovered and are feeling better, please anyone. I have children and I need to take care of them but I can't move my legs without excruciating pain going through them, especially the burning of the top of my knees. ANY help on how you took care of yourself would be great help to me. Thank you all!

I began using nuvaring a year ago and discontinued it about 5 months ago because of the incredible amount of yeast infections I got. Trouble is, it messed up my pH so much that I still have a yeast infection. Nothing works to remedy it. I take 4 yogurt supplements a day just to keep going. This has happened to everyone I know who has used this medication. I'm trying a new remedy that has worked for my friend--gynazole cream plus 2 weeks (at least) worth of boric acid suppositories. If that doesn't work I'll throw myself off a building. Stay away from Nuvaring and spread the word.

Hi Everyone,
I have been taking Topamax 25 mg for 1 week. I can't stand it. Today I am to up my dosage to 50 mg.I am not sure if I want to do that. The side effects suck.. I think I would rather just deal with my migraines, at least I know how to do that since I have had them for over 25 years. I have tried everything and nothing has worked so the Dr. and I thought we would give this a try.
I am trying to keep my place of employment happy with trying to cut down on the migraines but nothing works.
Most days I just want to give up.
Hopefully we will be able to figure something out.

I can't stand the pickhands and feet, the stumbling like I am drunk( and I dont' drink) nothing tastes right anymore, I have the shakes and I ache.
And all it does is makes me sleepy and like I am in another world.
I went to work today and made it half an hour before I came home because I stumbled and almost fell over. And when the boss talked to me it was like I wasn't there. So I came home. I don't know but I don't like it at all.

My husband was prescribed 750 mg of Levaquin to be taken over a 14 day period. After 3 days he had the most bizare reactions; heavy chest, pain in his arms and legs, constant "burps" among other things. We called his doctor and went in to see him. His first remark was there was no connection between the antibiotic and his "reaction." No amount of discussion would convince the doctor we had a toxic reaction to Levaquin. This was in October of 2006 and today my husband is still feeling the effects of this drug. I wrote to the FDA and I've not received a reply, which I was assured would be forthcoming, nothing works to get rid of this toxin and our medical profession does not accept any responsibilty in prescribing this harmful drug. IT MUST BE TAKEN OFF THE MARKET. Our thinking is perhaps a lawsuit will get the manufacturers attention...what do you think?

night sweats,skin brakes out -bad boils-the sores itch all the time.nothing works creams or itching pills and can get rid it. if one heals then its back in a few wks any one got these problems while taking this drug. been on it for 7 yrs. this started 2 yrs ago it wont go away. thanks mary.i take 5 mg 1 dailiy.

I'm very sorry to hear, that you're feeling so bad at the moment (and I say AND MEAN at the MOMENT!!). I totally feel your pain, as I was sitting within the same sh...t around after 2 months off Yasmin.

And I remember that I also was thinking, that this nightmare surely will NEVER end and that this is the way my life will stay until I'm gone...

Another thing I remember very well is, that I also was sitting here and posting and searching for help, and look at me now: Today it's ME who is able to help others through this!! A thing I never would have believed one year and a half ago!!

The symptoms we all are going through are very weird. For one are the headaches the most frightening thing, for another one it's the dizzyness or nausea the worst and so on.

And everyone should know, that hormones are interacting every cell of your body and nothing works without them!! So I think it's pretty obvious, that an imbalance of hormones can cause 100s of symptoms and everyone has to deal with different symptoms.

What I want to say is, that your symptoms sound very familiar to me, after going through the same and reading 1000s of postings during the last year.

I still sometimes got bad aches in the upper of my spine, which I never had before this Yasmin nightmare, sometimes my joints are aching, as if I was an 80 year old woman... Another day I feel a bit dizzy again and so on.... But remember: Everything not at all as intensive as it was around after a few weeks off Yasmin!!!! And everything is getting lighter as months go on.

I had days, where I nearly couldn't breathe because of that pain in my upper spine. Another day it was completely gone again. One day I feel like a little genius, I'm able to talk and tell stories and concentrating seems to be so easy, the other day I walk into another room to do something, and the other second I don't know what it was, that I wanted to do...

So I just can give you one advice: Try to calm down (I know how hard that sounds....!!!) and give your body the time it needs to recover and get those hormonal chaos in balance again!! In some cases it's done in about 3 - 4 months in other cases (including me...) it's taking longer to get back to normal which seems to depend on how long you had been taking a bcp (I did it for about 10 years, 5 years of that I took Yasmin).

And if you don't do that already you really should think about taking any supplements. Magnesium and B-Vitamines seem to be the most important here because they are really important for your nervous system and muscles. And another thing you should know is, that all bcp and espacially Yasmin (because of the diswatering effect it has) are causing a lack of vitamines and minerals, especially magnesium and b-vitamines. And especially magnesium is able to help you to calm down a bit, because it's also called the "antistress mineral". In my case it helped very much with the muscle weakness and aching and the sometimes very severy tiredness. So perhaps it might help you with your back pain, too!!

It's no cold or flu we all have gone or are going through and it definitely takes more than only a few weeks to feel better again. Some women here said, that around 3 months they suddenly felt a lot better (so it was in my case). So keep looking forward to better days, you're almost there!!

Stay strong and hang in and please post here if you need any help or advice. I hope I can help somehow, although I know, that it's not easy to help someone whithin that situation...

Unbelievable, I am amazed by what I am reading. I started searching for Toprol side effects tonight because I am a 43 year old woman who is usually very active in the garden this time of year. I have been taking Toprol XL since last September. I can't work in the garden more than fifteen minutes without being out of breath and dizzy. I have no desire to push my lawn mower. If you knew me, you would know there was something seriously wrong if I do not want to mow the grass. I have gained 15 lbs for no apparent reason. I can relate to just about every one on this list. I feel awful most of the time, barely able to keep my eyes open. I also get occasional charly-horses in my legs and more often in my feet. I thought those symptons were due to my weight gain. I have tried to lose some of the weight but it won't budge. I have tried vitamins and trying to get more sleep. Nothing works. I take the Toprol for episodes of severe tachycardia in a-fib. I also have an enlarged left atrial chamber with an aneurysm. Is there some other medication I can take without these side effects???? I have immediately made an appointment to see my cardiologist. thank you for having this forum, I now know what is wrong with me.

Extreme dry mouth, taste perversion, leg and neck pain, exteme tiredness, general muscle pain. My mouth is so dry that in the morning, if I try to swallow without drinking something first, my throat sticks together and I have difficulty breathing. My ability to taste has decreased and I have a tin-like taste in my mouth all the time. I brush my teeth and use mouthwash five or six times a day, am always chewing gum to try to get rid of the taste and the dryness, but nothing works. I can't sleep at night because of the joint and muscle pain and am always exhausted. Am going to the doctor today and having her take me off of this medication.

i've been taking geodon for a year now and finally decided it is time to takings meds. if i missed a dose i couldn't sleep at all and now that i've stopped i haven't slept in five days. nothing works to put me to sleep i've tried klonopin and over the counter drugs. it is hopeless. i have to start my semester tomorrow and i dont know if i can actually do school work on no sleep.

I've been on Yasmin for about six weeks, as an alternative to my long-time favorite, Ortho-Novum 7/7/7, which started giving me vaginal dryness at 41. The sexual problem cleared up instantly with Yasmin, such a big relief, so I felt I could live with the 2 1/2 weeks of breast tenderness I had the first month.

Now, in my second month, I am troubled with crippling insomnia. I have always been a poor sleeper, but this is really different, only 2-4 hours of sleep night after night for two weeks. I have tried various sleep patterns (with my history I'm pretty adept at manipulating my sleep), but nothing works. I really can't go on like this. No wonder sleep deprivation is often used as a torture device.

Other symptoms include unusual fearfulness (not quite physical anxiety attacks), irritability, weepiness, and foggy brain, amounting to loss of function so bad that I really worry about driving my kids around. My refrain has become, "Another lost day!" I thought all of those were triggered purely by the sleep problems, and I've been working up to asking my primary physician for sleeping pills, a first for me in all my years of being sleep-challenged. But after reading most of the posts on this site, I believe Yasmin may be causing those emotional problems directly.

Meanwhile, just 3 pounds of weight gain has caused me to go up a full pants size (it's ALL on my belly, basically overnight), and I hate to think where that is heading. I do have somewhat increased appetite some days, but I've increased my exercise sufficiently, which is a struggle in this state of sleeplessness. Yes, I know that growing belly fat is part of being over 40, but I'm very aware of and careful about my diet and exercise and this undeserved weight/belly surge does coincide with starting Yasmin.

Two questions:

Has anyone gained weight BOTH on and when going off Yasmin? I've read both situations, but from the same person?

Has anyone had insomnia early on with Yasmin that went away after a couple more months of continued Yasmin use? Can those of you who have also had this kind of serious insomnia, and who have discontinued Yasmin, report on how long the insomnia specifically took to subside?

I've just made an appointment with my gyn for a couple of days from now. I just want a different pill or no pill--I don't intend to let him talk me into continuing on Yasmin over my increasingly serious concerns. However, if others on this site have had experiences like mine that then got better, that would be more persuasive.

It's 315 in the morning, I am up again for the....Wow, I can't remember when I had a good night sleep. I started taking this drug on December 5, 2004, when I was admitted into the hospital for Congestive Heart Failure. I am 29 years old, and I am seriously contemplating suicide. I have been to my doctor many times for this cough. The first time, they said the cough was caused from my smoking. So I quit. Then when it did not go away they tell me it's because I quit smoking(ironic huh?) So it still didn't go away. I went back to the doctor, and they gave me Nexium for Acid Reflux. Of course that didn't work. On Valentine's Day I had a diffibrulator inplanted in my chest, and a week ago today I had my staples removed. While the nurse was removing them I mentioned my cough to her. She tells me that Lisinopril is the cause. I stopped taking it that day. My cough is still here. I need the cough to go away. I have 4 kids, and I am only 29. I am too young to die. Someone please tell me that this cough will go away soon. I am so tired of not sleeping. I can't even go any where because people treat me like a leper. I can't talk to any one on the phone because I can't stop coughing for longer than 1 minute. Nothing works, trust me I have tried EVERYTHING. I bought every single OTC medication on the market. I drove an hour to go to an alternative medicine shop for drugs they claimed would help me. I even ordered chinese medicine on the internet, and nothing works. I keep a cough drop in my mouth 24 hours a day, and even sleep with it in my mouth. No one I know understands what it is I am going through. My husband laughs at me when I break down and cry. My kids don't know what's going on with me. I would give my right arm for this cough to go away. It does give me some comfort to know that I am not alone in wishing horrible torment to the creator of this pill. At least someone knows what I am going through. Thanks to the creator of this web site.

I am 27 yrs old. I took OrthoCept for 9 years. Off one year and on Yasmin cuz doc says its the "best".
Started in Jan.
In perfect health, never been sick, hospitalized or have any illnesses, nor taking any additional medications.
Started with mood swings, anxiety and up and down. Blamed it to the 3 month "adjustment period".
9 months later, still "adjusting".

I have experienced alot of the side effects. I have felt as if I were depressed, but have NOTHING in my life to be depressed about. High Anxiety. Very scary panic attacks (never had one ever until this past 6 mths, have had 8) increase in breast size, breast soreness and tenderness when not having period, headaches (never had one before this yr either)NO SEX DRIVE (not even for pocket rocket) cramping, constipation (serious) I tried changing diet, fasting etc, nothing works. Lots of bloating.

I have layed in bed at night with my cell in my hand waiting to call 911 because I was certain I was going to have a heart attack.

Panic attacks have ruined my life. I do not go out. When I have one, my heart pounds and my mind races. I cant think or breathe and just feel like I am a freak.

I have seriously thought I was crazy. I have wondered how long it would take my friends and family to commit me. I am unable to focus on anything and I feel like I am shaking inside. I often feel like I am walking through a fog as if my life were not real, just a dream.

My relationships/friendships have desperately suffered. I have lost many friends because I have lost all interest in pretty much everyone and everything.

I have nothing to be depressed about. But yet I am not living.

Often when I sleep, my limbs fall asleep, this also never happened before in my life.

I quit Yasmin one week ago and entered therapy cuz I was convinced I had a chemical imbalance or an anxiety disorder but after reading this board, I am pretty sure I may be okay.

I have been having really bad headaches though since I went off and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this? I read on a health board it was common but I was wondering if anyone knew how long it lasts? How long before all the Yasmin is out of your body? If you want, post here or email me please at ******

I think I am going to let my body be for awhile. Let my hormones do their own thing and feel normal for awhile. TROJANMAN......

Thanks to everyone for their courage to post their effects. I was tested 4 months ago and found out I was hypothyroid at 27 yrs old. I started on .25mcg and now at .50 daily of levothyroxine. I have developed a horrible skin rash on my neck, chest, shoulders, and upper back. It looks like small blisters/acne, like chickenpox. Ive never had a skin problem till I took the medication. I have consulted with several doctors and they have given me the usual skin creams, etc. but nothing works and its getting worse. It seems to me that no one knows what to do and I am the only one doing an y research on it. Now, I have an appointment with a dermatologist but my pharmacist said that many thyroid medications can have this reaction and there is little to be done to cure it. Yikes!!!

I live in the UK and suffer with severe hayfever. The last three years and twice about 13 years ago I have had 40mg of Kenalog, it is wonderful!.
From March I take antihistamins, nasal spray and eye drops and have even tried acupunture to try and releive my symptons but nothing works apart from Kenalog.
I have tried long and hard to find out long term side effects but there seems to be no formal study done of this drug. It is a risk, but I am fed up with spending 6 months of the year sneezing, eyes wateringm, asthma and feeling generally rubbish. Kenalog works for me it is like magic, within 2 days all my symptoms dissapear. Fortunatley I have never suffered from any side effects. Although my doctor is not over keen on me having it he understands I cannot do my job properly when I am suffering so badly with hayfever.

I HAVE HAD NO SIDE EFFECTS FROM XANAX. WHEN YOU COME TO A POINT WHEN THEY HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING ELSE ON YOU AND NOTHING WORKS AND YOU CAN'T FUNCTION LIKE EVERYONE ELSE LIKE GO TO THE GROCERY,DRIVE, EVEN WALK DOWN THE STREET AND SOME DOCTORS TELL YOU THAT THIS DRUG IS ADDICTING AND THEY DON'T WANT TO GIVE IT TO YOU THEN YOU HAVE THE WRONG DOCTOR. I WAS BLESSED TO FIND ONE THAT SAID THAT IT WAS BETTER TO BE ABLE TO FUNCTION AND ENJOY LIFE RATHER THAN TO WORRY ABOUT BEING ADDICTED HE WAS SURE RIGHT BECAUSE I HAVE GONE FROM THE WORST TO ALMOST THE BEST. I CAN GO ANYWHERE I FEEL LIKE GOING OR NEED TO GO NOW. I CAN GET A FULL NIGHTS SLEEP. I DON'T HAVE MAJOR PANIC ATTACKS MAYBE LITTLE ONES IF I AM UNDER A LOT OF STRESS. IF YOU TAKE ONLY THE AMOUNT YOU ARE SUBSCRIBED AND DON'T MISS ANY OF THE DOSES IT CAN BE THE ANSWER TO A DECENT AND HAPPIER LIFE.
