I am in the process of downloading the form to report the side effects that I have been having with Mirena.
Maybe if enough of us file a report things will change.
I had an appointment today to have the Mirena removed. Go figure that the doctor would be out sick today.
I was rescheduled for next Thursday.
For those of you that have privately emailed me, I haven't forgotten about you and will respond shortly. Very busy here.
Take care everyone.

I wish I never had the mirena put in at all. I've had it for almost 2 years now after the birth of my third child. I let the doctors talk me out of tubal ligation. Boy am I sorry for that. It seemed ok for about a year. My periods slowed down, everything seemed kind of normal. But now I have irregular bleeding, like one woman described as old, stringy blood. My hair is SO thin I had to go out and get extensions, again, like another woman. I cannot lose weight no matter what I try, and I've always been very active and do some hard core work outs. Still, I'm not losing anything. I'm bloated. Headaches seem to be more present. I called my primary care and am making an appt for tubal ligation and removal of this horrible device. Perhaps some women like it. I cannot stand it and can't wait to have it removed. I just hope my hair grows back ok:( Good luck ladies!

Im 17 years old and started getting sick a lot after getting my period at the age of 13. after numerous tests, and 2 years later i was diagnosed with both hashimotoes and graves disease. the doctors put me on synthroid and for a week i felt great. then after that i no longer wanted to take it. i didn't like the way it made me feel. i've been on the medication now for 2 years and my hair is so thin. it keeps falling out, and its very noticeable. i get a lot of headaches and severe cramps. i'm almost always tired. i get my levels checked every two months like the doctor wants. they are regular. anyone else feel the same? my mom is considering switching doctors.

I was on the NuvaRing for about four months and I loved it until I asked myself why I was even on it considering my boyfriend and I had not had intercourse for as long as I could remember. I realized every time he wanted to I had no interest and would make up excuses and could not achieve an orgasm for the life of me. That's not all, I began to noticed a very unpleasant, potent smell that became increasingly noticeable as the days led on and it got to the point where I could smell it when I was fully dressed out in public and I can assure you I have never smelled anything like this. I have been off for a about a month and a half now and the smell has disappointed, and my sex drive is back but the smell won't seem to go away in full and it soaks into the skin of my partner and he has to wait for days for the smell to go away after he spends time scrubbing himself. This is no way to live! It's humiliating!! I also feel that since I have been off I get extremely tired and pass out in the middle of the day not even realizing that I've fallen asleep! I sleep for hours and I was late to work yesterday because of it. I know that I am not pregnant, and nothing has changed in my life except the NuvaRing

For those of you asking about live after having the Mirena removed, I can happily report that mine has been out almost 2 months and MOST of my page-long list of side effects have gone.

The first and most noticable one was that my breast tenderness was gone and they retruned quickly to their normal size. Sex drive almost immediately started to return to normal and the pain during sex is GONE! Ditto for the joint pain Depression, mood swings, all better. Period? After having constant spotting for 17 months (a brownish discharge most of the time), I was never so glad to see a bright red, normal period. Of course it was heavier, but I was actually relieved, and it actually had a real beginning and end. It even snuck up on me, as I didn't seem to experience any PMS symptoms before it started (much to the relief of my husband). The only two things that remain is I still seem to be retaining some water in my hands, face, and feet, I haven't gained any more weight, but the weight I gained on Mirena hasn't come off easily, either. And, for the time being, it seems that my acne has gotten a bit worse! Hoping its the last of the hormones rearing their ugly heads. So, chin up, there is hope!

This is the second posting of mine about the Nuva Ring. I went off the Nuva Ring last Sunday as you can read in the other posting. I got my period yesterday unexpectedly (which wasn't too much of a shock because my body is going to be "off" for awhile from not having the hormone intake). I just finished my regularly "scheduled" period 1 week and 5 days ago....so now i've had 2 periods in the last 2 weeks. I've had some minor headaches pretty much every day...i dont usually have to take asprin or anything, but they are noticable. I woke up this morning and my period had been so heavy last night that it soked through my underwear (using a tampon) and that hasn't happened since i've been on any form of birth control (about 5 yrs). Anyways, just thought i'd update anyone who was wondering about some symptoms of taking out the ring (mid cycle). Anyone have questions about it.....ask!

I started taking Yasmin this past sunday, so far, so good...reading all these posts worry the crap out of me...i'm only really on this because i have really BAD pms, which people i know including my boyfriend thought it could be PMDD because how "crazy" i'd get, bad cramps and my period sometimes likes to show up almost whenever even when i track it....i'm a moody person already and so far i feel pretty good, pretty stable which is nice, i guess the only complaint is that i'm kinda constipated and i'm exhausted, but i'm unsure if this has anything to do with this pill or not. i travel constantly and eat bad food since i'm away at college so sometimes i have some issues....oh my sex drive is usually pretty fine, i haven't noticed anything there yet, i still think about doing things and want to...so, my question is what should i do? shall i continue to use it and see what happens, or should i stop it or get a different pill?? i go to therapy and i am also making sure that my boyfriend and immediate friends notice if i act a little stranger than usual....
and i was on a different pill back when i was 15 and i don't remember much of it besides i don't think i had any side effects so i've had a little experience with birth control before...

I just found this site and I decided to respond. I have been taking Singulair on and off for about 5 or 6 years. When I first started taking it, it seemed to help my asthma quite a bit. I didn't notice any side effects, but then again I was taking a few other meds that I thought might be a culprit. I hadn't taken the Singulair for about 6 or 8 months because everything was going good. About 2 months ago I began having a few flare ups, so I thought I would go back on the Singulair. Now I am 57 y/o and been on most of my meds for about 10 years or so. When I added in the 10 mg dose of Singulair before bedtime, I began to notice dramatic side effects. Along with the more vivid dreams, in the first few days I noticed when I awoke I was real tired. Now that is unusual because I have always been an early riser and ready to go. Some days I felt like I didn't want to get out of bed. As the days went by, I noticed that I was waking up a lot at night and had a constant "hissing" noise in my ears. The noise would last thru the first few hours of the day and subside. In the last week or so, I began to awake with horrible headaches. The headaches started in the back of my neck and migrated to the top front of my head. I am not a headache person, so these are very unusual.

I have also noticed small painful bumps on my scalp. There has been a noticable thinning of my hair as well. I'm not sure if it can be attributed to the Singulair or just being old!

I will be going off the Singulair as of today to see if all these symptoms disappear. I will post a response in a week or so.

I am a 34 year old male. I have been on 80mg of Prednisone 7 days a week for 2 months now. I will be getting my dosage lowered to 60mg tomorrow but am having a difficult time dealing with the Moon face, eye bags, acne, and sleepless nights. I go to the gym 4 times a week and am in shape other than this freak fake head it looks like I have now. Has anyone been able to find a way to make the effects not so noticable..as in diurex or diet pills. I would like to try anything but want to be safe at the same time. Thanks for any help and god bless. David

Prescribed for adult acne problem which started around the age of 40. Had one go at it over the winter and found it very effective in curing my skin. However I am an outside worker all be it in Scotland, with a second go prescribed in June. This was a different experiance all together with I guess the sun. I now have what can only be described as water blisters under the skin on my nose and just below my lower lip line. These can be so sore like as many others have described a burning stinging sensation that can come on for hours and then just go. Although they are noticable on my nose as any alteration in temprature makes them very noticable by a deep redness circling each blister. Have also entered into a very low feeling which could be the start of slight depression although not totaly sure, just always seem to have very low points in my day to day life that I never had before. These blisters are still there and burning even after two weeks of not taking this medication of Doxycycline 50mg capsules. Would appreciate any helpful advice or an idea if the burning blister ever goes away? Thank you.

I had the Mirena IUD inserted in March 2006, 6 weeks after my first child was born. I had it removed on July 26, 2007. At first, I didn't notice any symptoms. I had spotting for a while and then just regular shortened periods after that. My first noticable symptom was that I was extremely fatigued. For the last 6 months I feel that I was living in a haze, very tired, and felt that I wasn't able to function. I felt like I was way older than 31. In fact, a few months ago I was so worried about what I was going to feel like when I was 80. I went to my PCP and she could not find a medical reason for my fatigue after doing extensive bloodwork, so she thought maybe I was depressed. I went to my therapist and she very quickly verified that I wasn't depressed, I'd been seeing her for a year already to work on family issues so she knew me very well. My joints ached and I also experienced arthritic like symptoms in my hands - I could not twist a bottle cap off or open a sealed jar at all. About 3 months ago I started to get chin acne, then it moved up the sides of my face around my hair line and then all over my forehead to the point where it was very painful to touch. I was terribly moody, snappy, and emotionally stressed out all the time. I feel that the last year and a half have been wasted and I wish I could go back and not have it inserted.

After removing the IUD, I had bad cramps and my period came 2 weeks early. Blood was heavy, dark, and clotty at first (alot) and now is just medium flow, but bleeding for almost a week now. I've also had lower back pain since it's removal.

I have been taking lisinopril for years (10 mg/daily) without any noticable problems. About 2 months ago, my doctor doubled the dose and changed me to the version with HTCZ (a diuretic) included. A few weeks later, I started having this tickling sensation in my throat making me have a slight cough. The cough kept getting worse as the days went by and I also started having this congested feeling in my chest. I would cough my head off and it wasn't productive. I would cough until I would get dizzy and almost pass out.

I finally went to the doctor think I had some lung infection or TB. I was given a TB skin test, antiobiotics, and a chest x-ray. The TB test was negative, the chest x-ray was normal, and the antiobiotics don't seem to have changed anything.

I was back at the doctor yesterday and she said she think it's the lisinopril and switched me to Diovan. I started taking the Diovan this morning. Only time will tell if it is indeed the lisinopril that was the culprit.

I have been taking Lamictal for just over a year. Some of the side effects have been noticable for a few months, but others seem to just be appearing and getting worse. I have loss of balance and coordination, my vision is gettng worse, I have a hard time concentrating and finding the right words, I forget how to spell common words, I have short-term memory loss and feel spacey. I can always figure it out, but it takes longer. I began doing Pilates every day about 3 months ago and still cannot get the routine down and it is just as hard for my muscles as it was in the beginning. I can't seem to lose weight and have horrible acne on my face. I had 2 seizures before beginning Lamictal and am suppose to be on it for 2 years before trying to go off. Without insurance though, I am unable to do follow-ups w/ my neurologist and she seems unconcerned and unsypathetic to my situation, not giving me the time of day. She never even told me all of these side effects could develop, much less that they might begin long after I started taking Lamictal. Has anyone had these side effects after having taken the Lamictal for so long then stopped taking the Lamictal? Will these side effects go away after I stop taking it??

I also recently had a very bad reaction to Levaquin. After finishing a 10 day course, I had severe joint pain, swelling and then lower back pain. I did take ibuprofen and it helped a bit with the pain, but not the numbness. I also was losing my balance because I had a strange sensation that I was walking with someone else' legs!!! Now, 3 days after I stopped the medication, I do feel relief. This morning I did not have so much trouble walking. I notice that I do have significant burning in my extremities, much more apparent at night and it's very uncomfortable. I will say, though, that improvements are noticable and I do hope others improve as well. There is no doubt in my mind that Levaquin causes very severe side effects. I am also taking antioxident vitamins, Omega3 and folic acid. Good luck--there is some hope. Just forge ahead, try to go through each day without worry about it and try to maintain a regular pace. But DO NOT STRESS YOUR TENDONS as it's apparent from the literature that you can cause permanent damage. Take it easy physically, but don't stop moving. Drink lots and lots of fresh water or seltzer.

I'm a 45 yr-old male in pretty good health. Start Cipro for prostatitis, 500mg x2 / day. Eight days into therapy, starting experiencing tinnitus, tingling in hands & feet, and anxiety++. On day 9, actually experienced a significant facial 'tic'. Stopped drug on day 9; anxiety faded out 95% in less than 2 days, tingling has abated about 1/3 after 4 days, but still remains very noticable (of course, now I'm focused on it). Tinnitus remains at the same level. Have taken Floxin & Levequin several in the past with no adverse effects.

I have been taking Topamax for approx. 16 months. I began with 25 mg at bedtime and have just a week ago worked up to 100 mg at bedtime. My Dr. was good to prepare me for some of the side effects so that I wouldn't freak out and want to discontinue the medication. I was having about 3-5 migraines a week. It was scary how much Imitrex/Phenergan I was taking just to be able to get through a day only to face another headache. When my Dr. offered me Topamax for "migraine prevention" and told me of possible side effects, he also told me that if I would work through them it would be worth it. He was right! I had tingling in my hands and feet at first that only lasted a few days. I had subtle hair loss after about 2 wks. The most noticable side effect that I've had has been how it has affected my concentration and memory. For the first month or two, I had a very hard time getting out the words I was trying to think of in a conversation and I would forget to do ordinary things. This has gotten back to normal!!!! I encourage you to hold on! The side effects aren't as bad as the headaches - at least not for me! My Dr. also told me that it was VERY important to drink LOTS OF WATER! I even noticed that when I would wake up in the morning and feel the tingling in my hands and feet - if I would drink a glass of water the tingling would get better. The higher the dosage of medicine the more the water; especially in hotter weather. I think my body doesn't sweat as much as it used to unless I drink plenty of WATER!
Just hang on - if you can - and know that you can decrease your dosage and take it easy until your body completely adjusts to that dosage and stay there a while (months) then increase a little more until you get to the goal dosage. That's what my Dr. and I have done. It has worked!!!!!!!!!!

I have been using the ring for two months now. I'm not sure if I like it yet or not. The most noticable thing to me is my breasts. They are so sore and so swolen. I do have mood swings but do with every birth control. So far it's not too bad but still kinda scares me.

I get really depressed and moody. I've had muscle pain in neck, shoulders. Kinda nervous and restless at time.
I've had a small area in the middle of my vision that's noticable when something moves quickly in front. It sometimes leaves an after image.
Anybody else get that?

Both my wife and I were prescribed Vi-Q-Tuss. It stopped the cough when we both took it the first morning. I had no noticable side effects, my wife said she was nauseas and dizzy. We both took it before going to bed, and both of us woke with nausea, dizziness, headache, and sweating that lasted most of the morning. We're not going to take this anymore, I would rather choke with the cough. Instead I took, and recomend, Fishermans Friend cough drops to help with the cough..... if you can stand the taste.

hi guest 33998.
you are quite right, you do need to get off it! i never really had what i would call anxiety before. i have always been shy and what i would call "cautious" i did have a few panic attacks growing up but they were very very few and far between and were mainly linked to my shyness! i started on yasmin in jan 05 and by july 05 i was a complete wreck,i was so scared i could not even walk my kids the 2 min walk to school,i couldn't go out of the house at all but i was also afraid to be in the house. it really spiralled out of control.i was not taking any other medication either,i pretty much use herbs and vitamins apart from the odd aspirin here and there! i bought all kinds of programmes for anxiety disorders and while they helped me understand my fears and feelings and gave me some great coping techniques i still did not understand how i had developed an anxiety disorder....until i found this site.....it made sense that it could well be this pill and the synthetic hormones that were causing all the panic attacks and aches & pains. sure enough i stopped taking yasmin 8 months ago and have just been getting better and better...the anxiety is now just a background feeling, barely noticable most of the time, and i suspect it is me that holds on to the feelings as memories and make myself more anxious than i actually am. all the other physical side effects have now pretty much subsided. to me it was like have the worst case of constant pms (the clinical defintion not the oooh i feel a bit pmsie type !) constant sore boobs, back ache, stomach pains, sinus problems, racing heart, palpitations, frequent urination, headaches, hair loss, bloating, pins and needles, shaking, muscle weakness...the list goes on. i would suggest that you come off yasmin, take a good multivit with b6 and extra magnesium and zinc.give your body a good few months to get rid of the build up of synthetic hormones then consider your future contraceptive options when you are feeling back to normal. well done for being able to cope with your anxiety it can be so hard sometimes to deal with but you sound like you cope really well.
best of luck to you whatever you decide to do,if you need any help or advice in the future please come back here, there are so many wonderful women on this site that all know how you feel and will all help if they can.

I also suffer from puffy, irritated, dry eyes and when my dosage was too high, I also had bloating. Hair was falling out but I think it is slowing down some. Most of all I'd like to know what to do about my eyes, I can't seem to get any help from doctor.

Has anyone had this similar happen to them?
I went off YASMIN in July. Since August I have been bleeding every day non-stop - not very heavy - but very noticable. I am scared/ does anyone have anything to add or any suggestions why this may be?
I don't have health insurance right now.
