I had the mirena inserted on November 1, 2007, about 8 weeks after delivery my third baby. I had complications, ie. a blood clot, and am unable to take the pill again. My doctor highly recommended the mirena and after alot of hesitation I agreed. I basically thought everything was in my head until I came across this site. I have started to get severe headaches, am extremely bloated all the time, can't seem to lose weight and am actually 6 pounds heavier than when it was inserted. I have horrible mood swings, irritability, and depression. This fluctuates but seems to occur on or around a period. I have noticed an increased in gas as another poster reported. I agree with most about feeling like you are in a fog and I believe I have word loss as well. I have had the mirena now for about 5 months and am going to request that my doctor remove me at my annual scheduled for next week. I am prepared for her discount all of my concerns but I have to be firm and demand its removal. Also, I have heard that doctors receive compensation for every insertion.

Hi Silke and all of the ladies struggling with Yasmin,
Well, it is officially, as of now, I AM ONE YEAR YASMIN FREE! I thank God every day that I read these posts and associated my symptoms with the Yasmin I was taking Yasmin for 11 months. I stopped Yasmin in Jan. 2006 after a near death experience with my heart racing, leg pains and very high BP.
After the idiot doctor thought it was "mental" rather than hormonal, I struggled through 10 MORE months of hell on Paxil (which also almost killed me a month later), Xanax, and Effexor. With these psych drugs i gained 35 pounds! So, November 1, 2006 I went prescription free and guess what... I feel so much better!!!! I joined Weight Watchers and am trying to get back to a normal life, one year later. The psych drugs also raised my cholesterol, so I am working on that. My cycles are 29-32 days now, which I can live with. I am in my late thirties with two kids, a wonderful husband and I really needed to get my life back.
I am so upset that the doctor did not listen to me and refused to associate the Yasmin with the symptoms that I had. Why won't anyone believe me? I highly doubt that it is a coincidence that I am so much better without Yasmin and all of the psych drugs. I feel better now than I have in almost 3 years.
I hope and pray for you ladies every day. Thank you for allowing me to post my story. One year ago, I was an absolute mess because of the pill that my OB/GYN thought was so wonderful.

I was prescribed Levaquin for a bout of diverticulitis six weeks ago. About a half hour after taking it each morning, I felt completely unwell--dizziness, fatigue, overall weakness, odd sensations of pressure in my head, chest, and bladder, weird bouts of sudden joint pain. The worst side effect was terrible insomnia. I'd go to sleep OK, but wake up after 3 hours and not be able to get back to sleep, sometimes for the rest of the night. Instead of getting the rest I needed to get better, I was getting more and more exhausted. Now, a month after stopping the medication, my sleep hasn't returned to normal. I'm still awake in the middle of the night for two or more hours. Is this a residual side effect from Levaquin? Has anyone else experienced it? When can I expect my sleep to improve? Is there a way to detoxify from this drug?
