Hi I posted this on the Coumadin site when I should have been here,

I am a 66 year old female and up to a year ago I felt 20 years younger now I feel 20 years older.

I fell and broke my hip June '08. Had a hip replacement and developed a blood clot (DVT) in my left leg.

They put me on Coumadin and when that didn’t do the job they added Lovanox (another blood thinner requiring shots in the stomach).

Not only has they not helped but my blood clot is growing.

My symptoms:
daily headaches, debilitating leg pain (the pain is so bad that it is crippling me), fatigue (an overwhelming feeling of tiredness, I set down for a few minutes and wake up hours later.), loss my concentration (trouble doing simple crosswords), can’t study simple directions, numbness in toes and hands. I can go on.

And the doctors? “It’s all in my head. It can’t be the blood thinners.”

I am going to copy your blogs and take them to my doctor and demand something be done.

Thanks again to this site and all of you. I was beginning to think there was something wrong with my mind.

I have been taking Omeprazole for nearly 3 years and am experiencing severe fatigue, stabbing pains in toes, tingling or numbness in toes and sometimes in fingers too, also unsteadiness. I was prescribed it because I am taking aspirin daily due to raised blood pressure (also taking something for the blood pressure! which is now back to a very good reading). I also take Naprosyn for arthritis but only when it is very bad as I don't like taking that every day. Omeprazole is supposed to help prevent possible stomach ulcers when one is taking aspirin and also Naprosyn, but I am beginning to think that the constant side effects from Omeprazole are worse than the stomach ulcers!!
I read in the press very recently that Omeprazole can cause a deficiency of Vitamin B12 in the body and a lack of B12 can cause many of the side effects listed for Omeprazole. Does anyone have any knowledge reference Omeprazole and Vitamin B12? From the posts I have read on this site, it does appear that very many people are experiencing similar side effects from this drug. What are the alternatives?

I took Toprol for almost 2 years then in Aug generic came out Metoprolol and I switched over. I was taking 25mg. After a few weeks, I noticed numbness in my index finger and middle finger. Then it happened in other hand. Doc said I had tendinitis in one hand and slept wrong on the other...I was also depressed and having panic attacks. From the onset of taking Toprol my sleep was disturbed, but thought it was age related. Once I went on Metoprolol insomnia set in. Then my feet went cold and numb and my arms were so heavy and tingly and my joints hurt. My right shin hurt to touch as well. Vision was cloudy and had trouble adjusting to light changes. Finally it dawned on my that the changes occurred about the time I started the generic. I went back to doc and he pretty much told me I was crazy, prescribed Xanax and a session with a psychiatrist! He switched me back to Toprol and I felt no better then he switched me to
Atenolol with same result. By this time, my chest was on fire and I had extreme difficultly breathing. Called doc and he told me to stop cold turkey. I did and thought I was going to die one day. Throat closed up blood pressure soared. He stopped me on Nov 11 or 12th. I have been on nothing. Blood pressure is not leveled. When I first sit down it is like 140/93. If I wait a few minutes it goes down to 120/80 or a little lower. I was expecting to feel a lot better by this point in the game. I still have numbness in my pinky and ring finger and in my toes. If I take Advil it lessens to where it is not so bothersome. Anyone know how long this stuff takes to get out of your system? I am shopping for a new doc since mine know things I am a hypo. I am a 39 yr old female with no other health issues. Was originally put on for stress related palps.

Have been on Lipitor for about 1-1/2 years at the 10 MG level. I started having cramps in my calfs, stabbing pain about left hip, numbness in left toes, weak left leg muscle and was starting to get weak in my arms. Went off Lipitor about 10 days ago and hip pain has just about gone. Leg muscle is about 50% better but now numbness in toes has turned into a tingling feeling. My question is how long does it take to over come these side effects? Going to try more exercise and 2,000mg of vitamin C to keep cholestrel level low.
