I found this site by searching for numbness, tingling and bruising. I am having these symptoms in my leg and thought it could possibly be a side effect of the lisinopril that I've been taking since February. The relief is that I'm finding other side effects that I've had that I thought were just part of my growing older. As it turns out... looks like they are side effects. I think just because they didn't appear right away, I was thinking they must be from something else. I do have the funny cough, skin itchies, and fatigue. I've also started having insomnia which has just stunned me because I've never had that before. I just never know from one night to the next if I'm going to sleep through or wake up for hours at a time. Thanks everyone for posting your experience. I guess I'd better do something to change this medication.

I too had chest pains!! That is something that they do no tell you.

This medication definitely needs to be re-evaluated by the FDA, to determine what damage it may do to your heart.

I was already seeing a psychiatrist for Panic disorder so I had valium at home. However, I still ended up in the ER for my chest pains after getting no call back from my dr for two weeks telling her that I was having all of the other side effects ( except the hair loss), tingling in the hands and feet, fatigue, moodiness, different tastes of things, especially colas.

Nevertheless, I was diagnosed at the ER with having a panic attack....DUHHHH, how could I possibly be having a panic attack when I had taken about 2 1/2 10 mg valium to try to get my chest to stop hurting. I explained to the ER dr. that I had started taking the topamax 3 weeks prior...There absolutely needs to be better education of this drug and its terrible side effects!!!

I am currently on Prednisone for Minimal Change Kidney Disease. I started at 60mg a day and my symptoms from the Kidney issues (swelling in my ankles and legs) went away within about two weeks. I had a lot of energy at first on Prednisone and trouble sleeping. I actually enjoyed the added energy. I also got headaches those first couple weeks and jaw pain. I wasn't really upset about the drugs until my face started getting puffy at about 4 weeks. I was reduced to 40mg at that time. I definitely noticed an increase in appetite and have just recently started counting calories to avoid potential weight gain. My weight so far has only fluxated about 5lbs. I am currently on 30mgs of Prednisone and can not wait to be off. I do have some slight acne on my upper back and notice a little extra weight there (maybe that camel hump thing someone mentioned). I am nervous these things will only get worse so I'm hoping my doctor will reduce the meds more rapidly after my next appointment. Overall it seems the Prednisone has done its job, but I'd still like to be off. I have been on a total of about 2 months now.

While coming off I have noticed heartburn (severe at times), mild depression, loss of energy, and I've been very bloated throughout the process.

I would only take Prednisone if absolutely necessary and get off it as fast as possible. Good luck to you all.

I am an active 63 year old male. I have been on 10mg lipitor for 5 years and have experienced a very gradual muscle degeneration in my legs, feet numbness & tingling and hair loss from my ankles up. I have been to a neurologist, two Chiropactors, and Physical therapy and got some relief, but these symptoms never really disappeared. Recently, my bad cholestrol level increased and my doctor doubled my level to 20mg. After a month, my symptons are now worse and I can hardly get out of bed in the morning with sore muscles in my legs. I have had full skeleton x-rays and MRI's and Bone Bi-op. and have been cleared from other problems such as cancer. I have a strong feeling that my problems are from Lipitor. My doctor is in love with the drug. I am going to stop the Lipitor for a month regardless and see what happens. Joe

hi,dejay78.
my heart goes out to you. i was exactly the same with the same fear that i had gone mad and was going to end up institutionalised. i also have 2 children. i started taking yasmin after i stopped breat feeding my youngest. i fed her for 1 year and did not have a period in that time.my doctor suggested yasmin to get my hormones back into whack,in fact it did the complete opposite but i didn't realise it at the time.i was on it for 6 months and all seemed fine.my skin cleared up,i lost a little weight and my periods were light and regular. Then i started to need to pee more.i had major IBS symptoms, then the panic attacks started, then came the constant anxiety,i was terrified all day every day. i had terrible unthinkable thoughts. i became scared i would do something awful like hurt one of my kids,i knew i never ever could but the thoughts in my head made me think i was mad and unstable. i couldn't go out and became scared that i would be raped or attacked if i left the house. i couldn't sleep or eat or function at all i just cried. i had aches, pains, numbness & tingling,i thought i had a tumour or cancer or something horrible. My doctor told me i had an anxiety disorder,i thought that was odd as i had never had a problem before but i accepted his diagnosis,i asked whether my pill could cause this as nothing else had changed and he just laughed and said no. the pills he gave me for the anxiety made me worse to the point that i actually wanted to die,i had had enough as i thought i would never recover.......then i googled yasmin and found this site and it literally saved my life! i read as you are now about all these poor women with the same experience as me. i stopped taking yasmin and started to feel better within a month. i have been off it now for 7 months and while i am not 100% yet i am well on my way there. The anxiety gets less and less every day,the scary thoughts are a thing of the past as are most of the other problems. i promise you dejay78 you are NOT going mad, your hormones are just so messed up that they are making you feel that way. take a good multivit, some B6 and some magnesium and think positive thoughts always! distract yourself, keep busy, sing dance and laugh.i know you don't feel like it now but it will get better. if you need any more help or advise or just someone to share this awful pain with you are always welcome here, there are so many wonderful women on here that will support you and understand you.

i wish you all the best.

Well I have been taking Topamax for 3 weeks tomorrow and so far the side effects have not been that bad for me. I have experienced a little bit of most of the ones I have heard about: loss of appetite, weightloss, numbness/tingling in hands/feet, off tasting carbonated beverages, fatigue, mood swings, increased thirst, increased perspiration. But they haven't been that extreme for me. The pros have really outweighed the cons so far. I have only had 1 migraine since taking the Topamax, and it was a few days after starting it. I am upping to 75 mils tomorrow so we'll see how I feel about it after that, but so far so good. I think that it is really important to remember that everyone's body chemistry is sooo different and we are all going to react differently to this drug. I have pretty much found that people either love this drug or they hate it. But it is really nice to be able to get feedback from other people to see if the side effects we are experiencing are "normal". When 50 some odd other people are experiencing the same thing on this drug then I think it's a pretty safe assumption that it is related to the drug, whether or not the doctors want to claim it is or not.

I want people to know my story. I am an RN of 23 years currently 44 years old. I was on Lipitor for 5 years started at 39. It did it job with lowering the blood levels etc.

Ten months ago I developed numbness, tingling and burning pain in my entire lower legs. I could not stand in one place it made the pain worse. I work ten hour shifts and I am on my feet the whole shift. I remember coming home and I could not stand the pain in both legs. Feet both would go numb. No back or disc problems. They ruled out diabetes. I had developed a perpheral neuropathy. Neuroton does help take the pain away folks. I would take 300mg at night at needed. I had the restless leg at night. My MD did not think much of all this ran the blood tests and that was about it. I kept mentioning it. Mind you my 47 year old MD also takes Lipitor.

Next fatigue exhausting I can't get out of bed fatigue. I have missed more days at my job in the 20 years I have been employed there. I knew something was wrong as I was so exahusted. I could hardly finish me shift. I got short of breath at the end of me shift.

I took MYSELF off the lipitor. Things got better a little. Four weeks later I still have the severe calf pain, fatigue still missing work, . Now more lab tests are orderd.

Ask your MD to do CPK levels on you this tells you if you have muscle injury or damage.Ok I have been off Lipitor for 4 weeks and my CPK level that I asked to be drawn is 1,225 normal high is 190. I have muscle injury and damage. I hope it is reversible. No wonder why I could not get out of bed.

Ask for those CPK levels. I think any prudent MD should check CPK levels along with the liver enzymes periodically.

I still have more lab test pending. I am on steroids prednisone for 10 days. I hope I can make it to work soon -they are shooting up all my vacation time with this.

This drug caused me a lot of pain , emotional distress, time lost from work.......... stress period. With my RN knowledge I have thought of possibly looking more legally into a Pfizer lawsuit. However; I live in Kalamazoo a lawyer my take my case but I would bet not many MD's in this town who their drug reps bankroll in free lunches and lavish gifts may not back me.

Educate yourself from my story and don't have to suffer atleast 10 months maybe 12 by now. I missed social and family events........... I was always in bed and could not get up just to shower and get ready for work.

Any questions email me. Vicky RN

I started topamax on 6/28/06, building from 25mg's to 100mg's for simple partial seizures and migraines. I'll have to say it has helped tremendously. I woke up every single day with a headache! Not anymore. All I have now, is a mild sinus headache here and there. I will say on the negative side, I have absolutely no appetite (although i stand to lose 30 lbs), numbness, tingling, memory dullness, bowel changes(yuck with bowel cramping) and my menstral flow is well off track! Has anyone else had any of these problems too? Oh and I definitely have shortness of breath. And I'm making sure to drink plenty of H2O!!!PLEASE RESPONDE!!!

I haveseverere neck pain 9 on scale of 1 to 10.

I have extreem fatigue.

I have a neuropathic numbness & tingling in the outer 1/8 inch of my skin from my forehead to my ankles.

My hands twitch to the point a cannont safely hold things.

I have low grade neusia

I have la oss of ballance while walking.

My physician had me stop taking Lipitor

This is third day off: I am experiencing severe itching on arms, back, legs, etc.

God help us all when adequate stuties for neuropathic damage and information have not been given our doctors or us!

I took Doxycycline in 98 for 3 months when traveling in SE Asia, I became extremely paranoid and my hair started falling out (I've never had this prior or since) so I stopped taking Doxycycline and within a few day's I was back to normal. Last year I went on another trip to SE Asia and was advised to have Doxycycline again with lots of assurances that it would be fine despite my previous reaction. After 1 week of having Doxycycline I awoke in the middle of the night with extreme pain running up and down one side of my body. Since then I have never been the same, constant reoccurring problems of the Central Nervous System including nausea, twitching, numbness, tingling, blurred vision. Also initially I had hair falling out. I've been tested for MS, fibromyalgia, lupus, lymes, etc. with negative results so far. The doctors dismiss the possibilities of a adverse reaction to Doxycycline but I'm not so sure. My reaction in 98 was very obvious to me if no doctors seem to think so. I had also had a vaccination for Japanese Encephalitis.

I was on Levoxyl .044 (1/2 of a .088 tablet) for several weeks (dose was increased from .037 -- 1.5 x of a .025 pill) and then started getting paresthesia (numbness, tingling, burning) sensions, lack of appetite, etc. I stopped taking over a month ago, but the paresthesia and other symptoms continue. Could it just take this long to get out of my system?

I have horrible nerve pain in my right leg from the knee down into my foot after laminectomy and diskectomy 8 months previously. I began taking Neurontin, and experienced dizziness, lack of coordination the first week or two, but a dramatic decrease in the numbness, tingling and pain in my leg and foot. I have stopped taking Neurontin because of stomach pain, bloating, dyspepsia, really miserable, this was while I was on 40mg of Prilosec. I am now on Amytriptyline. It helps somewhat, but not nearly as much as the Neurontin. I am frustrated, because I don't know how to live with this constant distracting and painful condition. It's difficult to walk because of the severe pain in the ball of my right foot. I would really like to take the Neurontin, because I saw such improvement with it, but there always seems to be a side effect that makes it impossible to take a drug that helps. Same with anti-inflammatories, that also rip my stomach apart. Please help with any suggestions.

I started taking pravachol around Thanksgiving 2004 and
in March 2005 I was experiencing numbness, tingling, chest pains, lower back pain, and my legs were very painful. So,
I stopped taking the pravachol on my own and I started feeling better. I was on so many other medications, that I didn't give it a whole lot of thought and I let my Primary Care
doctor talk me into taking the Pravachol again about eight weeks ago and now I know it is the Pravachol that is causing
me to hurt so bad and I fall down for no reason at all. I walk
into the walls, my balance is all out of wack. I will be going
back to my doctor this Friday on the 12th of August to talk about the Pravachol and to be properply tested. I will refuse
the Pravachol and get something more safe for me. I Pray there is no real damage done.

I was prescribed 300 mg. x 3 per day of neurontin a month ago for tailbone/nerve pain. By the third day, I noticed my leg felt like it was asleep. This has progressed over the past month to the point where now my left leg is tingling and numb and sometimes my left arm is the same way. Could this be the neurontin?

I can' deal with the spaciness, light headedness, and weird dreams, but this numbness/tingling feeling is driving me crazy. Should I stop the neurontin? Anybody else have this?

We rushed my wife to the emergency room last night with stroke-like symptoms. She had what she described as numbness/tingling/weakness on her entire left side of her body. Face, arms, legs, toes. She is 23 years old.

After 7 hours in the hosptial, MRI, blood work etc they ruled out MS for now and stroke and said that she needed to stop YASMIN immediately.

The doctor explained it as causing her blood to thicken etc. So they had to give her Plavix and asprin and now we get to see a neurologist this week.

Thank you YASMIN for making our lives h**l.

I started Yasmin on a Wednesday, and I was nauseous for the next four days. I was also feeling anxious. That Sunday night, I experienced 3 panic attacks; hyperventilation, numbness/tingling in arms and legs, accelerated heart rate, sweaty palms...I actually went to the the er thinking that I was having a heart attack. After a bunch of expensive tests, everything came up normal. I think that it was the Yasmin. I'm starting a new medication ASAP.

Hello,
I have been taking Yasmin for about 5 months now. I have constant nausea and lightheadedness. I have had one case of nausea w/ syncope during the middle of the night. I have also had numbness/tingling of my hands while driving, which I NEVER would have guessed had anything to do with my pills, until I saw other posting. I keep a headache and stay tired all the time. I immediately stopped losing "baby weight" when I started these pills, I was told they would help me LOSE weight!! I am going to stop these after tonight and see if start feeling better.

I have been taking Levoxyl for approximately 6 weeks and am tempted to stop. I have a continuous feeling of nausea, pains in chest and back, and numbness/tingling of hands and feet. In short, I have a general feeling of ill health!
