I had Mirena put in on Monday at noon and had it removed on Wednesday at 4:30. The time in between was awful. First, the IMPLANTATION (and don't let anyone tell you it's an INSERTION - it's IMPLANTED) was honestly the worst pain I've ever had. It compares to slamming your finger in a door. My eyes immediately teared and I kind of screamed and jumped. The dr. said "It'll only hurt like that one more time." WHAT???? Sure enough, it hurt like that again, then it was in. Then the cramping started. It continued through that day, eased up, hurt a bit the next day. Then my stomach started hurting, and I began developing a bruise on my skin on top of where the Mirena was. It felt as if it were trying to push its way out through my skin. The next day I woke up feeling almost normal, but that afternoon thought I was in labor. Was crying, couldn't take deep breaths or it would REALLY hurt, severe cramps worse than any menstrual cramps I've ever had (and I've had BAD ones). My husband called the doctor and I went right over and had it removed. Within 1-2 minutes I felt normal again.
What upsets me the most is not the promotional piece of literature that only told me the benefits, but the fact that my gyno presented it as The Device That Would End All of my Problems. I would expect a more fair assessment from a doctor.
It ended up being her partner who removed it, and he said, "Mirena's not for everybody." I really wish it had been presented in a more unbiased way upfront.
Anyway, the pain is over now and I'm taking Loestrin. My advice would be to just REALLY SERIOUSLY consider what you are doing before you get this device, and be ready to have it removed if it doesn't work out for you.

I am 30 and just prescribed this med for high blood pressure 160/115 sometimes worse. I haven't filled my script because I usually handle all my problems completely natural with the occasional ibuprofen. I do have a balance though and don't want to explode and leave my family behind. I have no weight issues and know the whole kidneys regulate potassium and salt and with HBP you generally need more potassium, magnesium is an import as well as upping the vitamin C but taking that at a different time than the others as it could block some absorption. Thanks for all of your inputs and appreciate anymore.

I'm on my 2nd month of taking Femcon. The first week starting it, I had heart flutters and anxiety, then coinciding with depression and mood swings. I was patient though and all of that subsided. Throughout this entire time, I've had occassional nausea in the first few hours after I wake, but no vomiting. My ankles have been continuously swollen since on it, and I'm generally just bloated, I have to take a water pill to relieve some of it. My breasts have been tender, off and on, since I started taking it.
By the end of the 1st pack, I figured I was ok, I had my last period just a little over a week ago. A week after my cycle had ended, I started spotting, and now in the past 24 hrs I'm heavily bleeding, I'm actually concerned. I'm passing clots, bleeding heavily, having moderate to severe cramps in my lower back area. I'm currently trying to reach my doctor and hoping they'll call me back, since I've had 2 miscarriages in the past, I'm showing signs of a possible miscarriage, but I've been told that the pill will give you symptoms of pregnancy, so I don't know. Any advice on what to do? I believe I will see if the doctor will put me on Estrostep, I took that about 7 years ago and had no problems with it, but the doctor felt that Femcon is more effective against pregnancy. Anyone know what could be happening with me?

Hello everyone, I have been going nuts trying to find people who have had side effects from the Nuvaring. I used to be on the patch before that, but I am sure many of you have heard about the deaths that occured to some people on it, so I decided to switch to the ring. It sounded amazing, leave it in for 3 weeks and that is it. The patch also used to come off here and there, so this sounded perfect. Then the side effects started. The only thing I ever had from the patch was a like a 10 pound weight gain, fuller breasts, and a regular period. I didn't know there are many women who feel extreme anxiety from certain birth control. Just within the last few months, I figured out the timing, and about a month or so, maybe less, after I switched to the ring, I started having serious anxiety, nervousness to where at times I thought I was going to have a panic attack, feeling like I was going mad, every so often would have a breakdown, gained more weight and in places I never had before, occassional night sweats, occassional chest pains, though could also be related to anxiety, depression, crying many times a week, and some other effects. I just started counseling because my anxiety has hurt my relationship. I always had a healthy worry when it came to my fiance. Part of it is caused by my past, but nothing I couldn't let go. Now I have for about a yr and a half constantly think he is going to cheat on me, always think he is lying, checking his phone as I see someone else posted on here as well, etc. I also worry about my friends too, like when they don't return my calls soon, I worry they are mad at me. I started therapy because all of my friends and family thought I should because they all see the man I have, and I have lost sight in the beauty this relationship had. So I took the ring out almost 2 weeks ago so I could get my period, and staying off from now on. I know it takes a few months to get out of your system, so hoping the anxiety goes away. I have also lost my sex drive due to all this. I know I wrote a lot, but hoping to help out others with my post. I am glad you all posted, and thank you for making me realize I am not alone. Just remember, some other birth control can have the same effects, but not all. I may consider the pill after I let my body get over this. Good luck to you all, and for the ones who love it and have no bad side effects, i am happy for you. It is great because it is so easy, but unfortunately, can't use it.

I have read a ton of the posts in this category. I have been taking Lisinopril as an addition to my regular blood pressure medication for approximately 3 years, with absolutely no problems. My 10mg was increased to 20mg a week ago. Still no problems. It has only helped me. If there are any changes, I will definitely post it. I believe that symptoms can arise from reading an article. I actually know a couple people who read things, and suddenly they are convinced they have the problem or disease referenced. I call it an Epidemic of Diagnoses. Always seek a doctors advice before stopping medications. Stopping suddenly on certain drugs, can be more dangerous than taking them.

I am trying to wean myself off of Wellbutrin. Was taking 300mg (150 2x day) for about 2 years. After my sister had a seisure, I immediately cut my dosage in half and did that for about 3 weeks. Felt fine. Cut that in half for about 2 weeks and felf fine. Today (Sept 3, 07) is my first full week off the medication. I've had the text book withdrawal symptoms; lack of sleep, light headed, tingling in arms and legs, headaches, and occassional shaking.
Any idea how long symptoms will last, and is there any thing to do, naturally, that will help.

I have been taking OMEprazole for approximately 2.5 months and recently I feel dizzy to the point I want to get a doctor appointment to have an MRI or CT scan on my head - my fear is that I have a brain tumor. I feel dizzy as if I am going to pass out, occassional sharp pains in my head and I feel sick to my stomach. I also feel extremely tired and recently like the left side of my body is weak.
I am going to stop taking Omeprazole today to see if this is the side effect of the medicine. Anyone have similar experiences. If so, how soon do they stop after you stop taking the medicine? I was concinced I had a brain tumor - not so sure now.
PS I am a very healthy 50 year old who is a marathon runner. Lately I have sucked on my runs due to exhaustion.

A week ago I made a post describing my negative experience with Singulair. However, since then my doctor and I determined that the side effects were likely due to a recent course of high-dose Prednisone. The two are suspected to have negative interactions, as is described in the product information leaflet.
I have since started taking Singulair once more and have had no problems other than an occassional headache.

After reading some of the posts on this board, I felt that I must submit my experience with the Lupron Depot injections. I am 25 and started the Lupron Depot in May 2006. I get the monthly injections and am planned to be on the treatment for 6 months. I just received my 3rd shot 4 days ago. I am very happy at this point that I decided to go on this treatment. My dr. suspects that I have Endometriosis and gave me the option of trying the Lupron Depot or having a laporascopy (spelling?) to diagnos it. I chose the Lupron Depot. The first 3-4 weeks after my initial shot was difficult. The symptoms I was having increased and sometimes hurt so badly that I would stay home or go home from work. I also experienced hot flashes (weren't too bad), night sweats, insomnia and mood swings. However, after the first month (before my second shot), the symptoms started to decrease. Now, I rarely have any pevlic or lower back pain which was a constant before the injections. I do have an occasional hot flash (I've had one in the past month), night sweats, trouble sleeping, slight memory loss, an occassional mood swing, and joint pain. Thse things may sound horrible, but it is so much better than before taking the Lupron. My Dr. had me stay on my continuous birth control (Yasmin 28) and attributes the fact that my Lupron side effects aren't bad to that. I was worried that my libido would decrease to nothing when reading about the side effects Lupron can cause, but I think it's gotten better. Now, I know that I can have intercourse with my husband and it not hurt. Before the Lurpon, I was suffering from depression because of the pain, decreased libido because of how much intercourse hurt, and the pain was unbarable most times. I think deciding to go on the Lupron Depot was one of the best decisions I've made, and I truly think my Dr. for recommending it.

My daughter just finished a course of Omnicef for ear infection. Throughout treatment she complained of occassional hiccups. One day after we finished the Omnicef, she broke out in a whelt-like rash on her chest, back and legs.
She has never had this reaction before. This was our first
time -- and last -- taking this new antibiotic.

I am taking a Metoprolol called Betaloc which I think is the same basically as Toprol. I have post-nasal drip and a slight cough, occassional sore throats, nasty taste in mouth, bad sleeping pattern (poor night every few days but drop asleep during day) and a bit tired generally. However my irregular heartbets are gone... I plan to reduce the dosage and see what happens. It is essential to know what the side effects are of different medicines; then we can stop thinking we have some other problems and weigh up the pros and cons of continuing to take the tablets!
The nasal drip is annoying, for example, but hardly serious.

We made an entry regarding our then 3 1/2 year old son in Oct, then Dec of last year. It has been approximately 5 months since we removed our son from the use of singulair, after a year of use. He now stammers a bit, as opposed to severe stuttering, and his aggressive behavior is greatly diminished, though he does still have episodes, both noted in particular when he is going through or immediately following growth spurts. I begin to feel that we may never totally regain our little guy as far as his serenity is concerned, but the differences between last fall when we removed him from his medication and now are remarkable. What has totally returned is his ability to concentrate. Any excess energy is now easily channeled into dancing, jumping, wrestling, and playing music. I Thank God that in the last couple of months, he has once again expressed interests on his own accord in regards to wanting to develop friendships and enjoying the playtimes he experiences with other children.
Is there any physician that would be able to state how long singulair remains in the tissues? My concern is in regards to the occassional outbursts of anger or sudden depression. I will be seeing his doctor this month for his annual exam and will be discussing the symptoms I still observe.

I am 27 years old and have just recently completed six months of lupron. I had my last shot in January 2006. The treatment was for endometriosis. I had been in pain for over 10 years when I finally had a laporoscopy to diagnose the endo. I also experienced "mild" side effects from the lupron. But, let me state first that I CANNOT take any sort of hormonal birth control because of the estrogen. Everytime I have tried BC I have had mini strokes. During my pregnancy I also had a mini stroke due to the increase in estrogen.
While on the lupron, I actually felt better than I have felt in a long time. I had the occassional hot flashes, night sweats, and a lot of weight gain. I gained around 25 pounds in four months. I don't recall any other severe side effects. However, I was also on Elavil (anti-depressant) the entire treatment. So I'm not sure if that helped or not. My problem is that now after being off of lupron, I am having horrible feelings of nausea, dizziness, fatigue and horrible headaches. I went to the doctor today because of an excrutiating headache I have had for three days now. It is a weird headache. It only hurts in one spot on the top right side of my head and hurts when I move my head quickly or move my eyes. The doctor did blood work to check my thyroid and has scheduled a CT scan for next week.
Has anyone ever experienced severe side effects after completing lupron? I am wondering if it is the estrogen coming back. Am I better off to be on the lupron? If anyone has any comments or suggestions, please reply.

Was taking 20 mg for 6 weeks for asthma. After first week had occassional joint pain. After 2 weeks the pain in my shoulders, hips and knees was severe enough to cause problems walking. My knee joints starting sweeling. I was told to cut off the pills cold turkey 3 weeks ago, which I did. However, my right shoulder and my knnes still have pain. My left knee continues to hold the same swelling. Is this normal after 3 weeks?

I had started taking Lisinopril about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Since then I have had horrific back pain and severe stomach cramps along with gall bladder pain (mine was taken out several years ago). I quit taking the drug about 72 hours ago and stomach cramps are no where as severe, the back pain comes and goes, and the occassional pain at the psuedo gall bladder site still twinges and aches. I, like everyone else, believes they need more research on this drug, and quit chocolate coating the side effects!

I have just started taking Lamictal and typically have sensitivity to meds. I take it for mood stabalization along with effexor xr 150 mg. Moy dose of Lamictal is only 75mg right now. But I have been getting acne again which I haven't had to deal with in over a year and a half. I go my occassional pms pimple or two even but now I am constinantly fighting the blemishes, including a couple of new ones on my back which I haven't gotten in probably 7 years. Frustrated is an understatement. But it is good to hear others are experiencing similar systems and I am not as confused finding the cause for this. Memory loss, lack of focus, disorientation, confusion are also the scarier of the side effects I have been experiencing. Today something new and very scary happened. For a split second I had to grab my desk at work cause I literally felt like the room was spinning. Not see swirls or anything but like when your on the til-a whirl at the amusement part. Does anyone have any idea what that could have been? I have been feeling a bit dizzy since also. Anything neurological really scares me. Does anyone also know what other mood stabilizers if they have taken any have little side effects from their experience?

I have been on advair 250/50 about 6 months. The first couple weeks I had sore throat and slight cough, the symtoms went away. My asthma is under great control, breathing has never been better. The last 2 months I have had periodic bouts with diarrhea, stomach cramping and nausea. I have neck and shoulder pain. As well severe pain in my left leg and hip. I have sinus pressure, earaches, sore throat, occassional horseness and have been treated for cronic sinus and upper respitory infections. I am starting to feel depressed because I feel sick all the time. My husband said I was fine until they changed my asthma medication so I asked the doctor and pharmicist and was told the symptoms are from an infection not all like the symtoms I would get from taking advair. After veiwing this web site I am now convinced more then ever it is the medication.

I've been taking doxycycline for about 11 days now, and starting on day 3, I had occassional severe headaches that have been one long permanent severe headache for the past 4 days. I also have a high temperature, particularly in the evening, light hurts my eyes and I'm quite dizzy. I was prescribed this drug because of an infection in my uterus, and the doctor has told me to try to finish the prescription.

My mother has a prolapsed mitral valve and occassional heart palpatations. She is usually not bothered with this. After taking a weeks sample dose of Detrol LA, she began to feel lightheaded, dizziness, buzzing in her head, and severe heart palpatations and shortness of breath. She called the ambulance and was taken to the emergency room and examined. After bloodwork and an EKG showed no physical problems she was released. She has since stopped the Detrol LA and the symptoms have subsided.

I used to be on Paxil. I was prescribed this drug "to simply smooth life's edges." I didn't always feel like I was in a good mood, was midly depressed and sufferred with mild anxiety attacks. Had feelings of being a little lost and confused and the littlest things would upset me to the point of tears. I was over sensitive about almost everything. Paxil was the best thing that ever happened to me during that period of time. It did exactly with the doctor said it would do. It is a mild antidepressant that will just take the "edge" off. I was taking 25mg CR and I only took them for a month and a half until I felt better. I weined myself off with less and less dosage day by day. A few months later I started having similar feelings like before and took another 1 month session. Fixed me again, just like before. Took me through a stressful time and eased my feeelings of anxiety until I was able to control things and pull through my mild depression. It's been about a year and a half and I haven't needed Paxil again.
I've read all of these postings and I was concerned by all the bad side effects. I had heard in advance about the decreased sex drive thing but I was willing to deal with it. Turns out the drug increased my sex drive. I just felt better about everthing. Things that would normally bother me, didn't. Anxiety attacks with scared feelings and shortness of breath were just non-existent. Never had any trouble sleeping and my moodswings were totallly in check. Actually, even though I been off the Paxil for about 1.5 years, I feel like I learned how to control my mood swings and some anger. I am a much more rational person today than I was then. People talk about side effects such as lucid dreams, the occassional lose of touch with reality and wierd feelings of not being all there. Are these really bad things? I'm surprised that it is still legal. I thought it was great.
