I am also one of the many here who is grateful to find this site. I have only been taking 10 mg daily for a few months, but have started to have muscular cramps in very odd places; around my ribs and sides, and lots of foot and calf cramps. I have also had three scary incidents of cramps near my heart, I have to get up and stretch and they go away., but one of the cramps felt like it was seizing up my right kidney at the same time as my chest; very strange. I also have a hard, hacking cough that literally causes me to wet my pants, it's just very awful and inconvenient. Some days, my head feels like it is splitting open from the cough. The cough/gag cycle in the morning is very upsetting. I also have noticed that I am very short of breath, and also find that to be very annoying, as it interferes with my work. I am calling my Physician tomorrow after reading all of these comments and asking for a different BP drug. This one is awful.

I had the MIRENA IUD inserted on January 11th, 2008. 10 weeks after my sons’ birth. It is now February 18th I have went over a full month of consistent bleeding. After 13 days of non-stop bleeding, no breaks in between, called the doctor just to get advised to take ibuprofen for menstrual cramps. That was not of my concern, how long was I to be bleeding for, however was. Never got an answer, and now the cramping too are of big concern. Just yesterday, while I was at Wal-Mart, I had cramps so bad they stopped me dead in my tracks. I have never, never ever had a menstrual cycle longer than 3 days and cramps so bad I couldn't go to work. Just over these past two weeks my skin has become so horrible, I do not get acne ladies, and I now have acne all over my back, chest, arms and patches on my face. Also, in odd places, who gets acne behind their neck and ears? I don't know, do you? I had breast tenderness for about 1 to 2 weeks; still have dizziness every other day. I have 2 kids, had an epidural with both and had no issues with lower back pain. Think I do now? Well, of course I do! Funny thing too, I didn't know that mood swings were a side effect, and my boyfriend says to me the other day, "you have been real mean for like the past month!" The only thing I can say that has not been a problem is my sex drive. Even though I have been bleeding for over a month I have had some very, very light days. This IUD has not interfered with my interest in sex. I actually want it more now than ever... but that’s probably because I am so in love with the man that gave me the two loves of my life!!!! And not the MIRENA IUD... lol!!!

I had a kidney transplant a year and half ago, and had to take Prednisone as one of my post-transplant med's. I was on it for about 2 months and I went through a lot of the same side effects mentioned by other people, increased appetite and weight gain in odd places, sleeplessness, and acne. Then recently I had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic and was again prescribed prednisone for three weeks, but this time the acne is so bad it looks like a rash, and it's all over my back, chest, neck especially, and on my face. I can deal with it because I realize it's what I need to do, and I am grateful that there is a drug that can treat the symptoms from the allergy, but I am wondering how long it will take for the acne to clear up once I finish the 3 weeks? Does anyone know how long it takes when you've been on it for that amount of time? Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.
Megan

I took Levaquin several years ago for pneumonia after being misdiagnosed and treated for bronchitis. Within three days, my breathing improved but my body felt worse. By the third day, I started having what I thought was joint pain in odd places: feet, ankles, knees, wrists, fingers, elbows and shoulders. I called the doctor who told me not to worry, that these were side effects that would go away. I kept taking it because I was desperate to get well after months of being sick and misdiagnosed, but the side effects worsened. I called again and got the same advice. By Day 13 and in tears, I started researching it and found a website that detailed the horrible side effects that people were experiencing, how the drug was implicated in bilateral tendon ruptures, how Nader's group had petitioned for warning labels detailing these dangerous side effects and been denied, and how the symptoms persisted in some for years.

By the time I stopped taking the drug (Day 13), I could not lift my right arm over my head, a symptom that persisted for about six months. I immeditaely went to see a rheumatologist who told me it was not my joints but my tendons that had been 'attacked' and that I should have stopped the drug immediately at the first sign of a problem. He said that over time I would improve.

What disturbs me is that my experience happened FOUR YEARS AGO and there were many who had similar experiences who preceded me by several years. That this situation still persists in unconscionable.

The side effects lasted for several years but the varied. At one point, every time I kneeled I felt there were rubber bands across the front of my knees that were about to snap. For a while, my ankles were very weak, etc.

I would say that it took about 3 1/2 years to be rid of the symptoms so it may take that long and longer for some to detox from this dangerous drug.

Hope that helps.

Susan

I've been taking Singulair for asthma for about 3 months and have had really bizarre side effects. I have an appt with my pulmonary doc in 3 weeks but, as of last night, I'm stopping the meds on my own discretion. I worry about asthma attacks with the sudden stop, but I'm even more worried about the strange side effects. I ache in nearly every joint, especially fingers/wrists and knees/ankles. I can barely hold hands with my sweetheart because my wrists ache so much. I also have the vivid dreams many others noticed but not the restlessness and insomnia. In fact, I'm dead tired. I take the med right before bed and am still so tired I can barely stay awake on my commute home every evening. And I've had tiny little "starburst" bruises in odd places... multiple bruises popping up when I haven't even bumped into anything. Variations of some of these symptoms show up in the "very serious side effect" category on the pharmacy product info insert so I'm taking my chances with the asthma until I can get back in to see the doc.

I switched from Solia (a generic brand of Ortho-Cept) and started Yasmin last sunday because I had terrible side effects on my last BCP. First off, I am on Birth Control because of Polycycstic Ovarian Disease, so I'm also on Aldactone, which can have a problem with Yasmin. *Sigh*

I was so happy to get off Solia and get away from the side effects that I endured for 3 months! But since starting yasmin (just 7 days ago) I have had just about the same side effects as the last pill... and then some!

Old ones that came back when starting yasmin:
Bloating
Breast Tenderness and swelling (to the point where I'm getting nasty STRETCH MARKS)
Acne all over my chest
Low Sex Drive

Now I'm noticing some new things as well as the old:
Severe Daily Headaches (some of them turn into migranes)
nausea
fatigue, Ive yet to spend a full day awake since starting.
Acne on my face in ODD places (around my eyes???!)
NO sex drive

My gyn told me that I would know if this pill was right for me after a week or so... and it's been a week and I KNOW that Yasmin just ISN'T right for me. I'd rather be on the other one I was on! It was MUCH better! (And in actuality it was TERRIBLE)
I'm calling my doctor on monday and requesting something different to start at the end of my next period. Perhaps Ortho-Low or something...

So glad to see that a lot of people are posting here and talking about what happened to them while on Yasmin!! Its very helpful for those of us who are just starting to experience these problems!
