Wow after reading all these postings I'm nervous, just had a kenalog shot yesterday for a possible disk problem (MRI in a week). I am concerned about the possible indentation at the injection site (lower back) as I had a similar situation develop years ago and saw a surgeon, who thought it was some calapsing of the muscle. I went in for surgery under local ann., but when they got in they found it had roots and was growing, to late to go under general and they had to dig it out. The most pain I have ever experienced, it was benign and now I had a kenalog shot in the same area and to make matters worse I still have the same pain today as I did yesterday.

I had hip replacement surgery last August - and had the generic of Levaquin. In December I got achilles tendonitis - plus a partially torn tendon and plantar faciitis all in one foot. The heel of the other foot is hurting me also. DEFINITELY THE LEVAQUIN!!! Now my daughter just had Bariatric Bypass surgery - and the anti-biotic they gave her during the surgery was Levaquin. She is now experiencing terrible pain in her calves..and she is finding it hard to walk and do any exercise. THIS DRUG NEEDS TO BE BANNED OFF THE MARKET COMPLETELY!!!!!!!

OMG! Tonight is my second night on Niaspan. I took the aspirin beforehand etc.. I am experiencing severe itching. I'm about to cut off my fingernails, I'm itching so badly. As I type, one foot is rubbing the other - I ITCH EVERYWHERE AND CAN'T KEEP FROM SCRATCHING!!! And it won't stop! I tried taking 2 benadryl about a half hour ago, and thus far no relief. If it continues to worsen I'll call the "ask a nurse" line to see if I should go in to poison control or the hospital. This is crazy!

April 10, 2005- I was exposed to what is a suspected case of whooping cough and developed the symptoms quickly. I went in and was given something like tetracycline for 10 days. I was still coughing violently at the end and so went back in. A young doctor gave me Levaquin and I took 3 or 4 of the pills but developed a back ache and went in. That doctor x-rayed me to make sure I hadn't cracked ribs from coughing so hard. I hadn't. He put me on a different antibiotic. Within 3-4 days I went into the ER because I had one of my coughing attacks (they're violent and you can't inhale because a rubbery-like phlegm get stucks in your windpipe and your body tries everything to expell it!) As I coughed that time I suddenly felt a horrible pain, like something exploded deep inside my back, not a surface muscle. A separate pain started and that was a slow, burning, tearing feeling. I've never felt such intense pain. I couldn't raise my legs to sit in our car and so we called the ambulance. The ER md was more interested in my lungs and found that I did have some pneuonia as well, gave me morphine so that I could sleep for 24 hours, and told me to continue the antibiotics. He also told me to go ahead and finish out the Levaquin as well! And stupidly I did. I had pain from the tendon and whatever tear in my back for months. I couldn't sleep easily. I ended up having pneumonia again in Nov. 2005 and the coughing made that injury hurt again. This year I have Achilles tendonitis in both legs and fasciitis in one foot. I don't know how long it takes for Levaquin to clear out of the body and I also don't know if these symptoms are related to taking Levaquin last year. In looking back, I think it's odd that you'd prescribe a medicine that has the adverse effect of ruptured tendons and the like to a person that is having violent coughing for weeks on end. There were times during what we think was Pertussis, that I was coughing with that spasmodic type of cough 8 times a night and regular coughing every 5 minutes or more. If anyone was going to experience the adverse side effect, it would be a person using muscles repeatedly and violently! Don't you think???
I am so angry about all of this.

I developed a patch of skin that felt like it was burning. This was across two toes on one foot. Everytime I rubbed or brushed against that patch of skin, it felt burning hot. However, there was nothing abnormal to look at, no redness, no swelling, just smooth skin. This side effect took about 4-5 months to go away after stopping this so-called medication.

I have had a constant cough since beginning lisinopril in 1994. I have complained to my doctor who just shrugs his shoulders and ignores my complaint. I recently have started having problems with swelling in just one foot and have been to several doctors who have made absolutely no diagnosis. I think it is the lisinopril........has anyone else had problems in swelling since beginning lisinopril?

I was given a five day course of this drug, levaquin. I did not have problems for the first 3 days. On the fourth day i experienced sleeplessnes, all over muscle pain, i was so tired that i could hardly put one foot in front of the other. When i did sleep I had such vivid awful dreams they would awaken me. The last time I had this reaction was when i took the drug that was to help you stop smoking. To add insult to injury the prescription cost me $67.00 on a fixed income.

Hi sherry and everyone else!!
No, my bloatedness didn't ease up at all!! I still feel like a waterbomb, some days less, some days more, but it didn't go away until now. I've started to note my weight every 2 - 3 days and also my bodyfat (bought a new scale therefor!!) to see, if the weight gain has at least stopped or if it still goes up and up... Well, at the moment it seems to have stopped thanks god!! I'm very careful about what I'm eating and how much. Excercising is still not possible for me because the muscle fatigue and breathlessness brought on by Yasmin is still very heavy somedays (especially shortly before my period should start, well, as though I hadn't one since easter this year......).
Well, it looks and seems as if this pill has ruined my whole body, especially the veins (my blood circulation isn't really good, I often get dizzy when I come up from sitting or kneeing which I didn't get before Yasmin!!!) and the connective tissue (I hope that's the right word in english....). I got cellulite all over my body, not only my belly and tighs but also on my arms and nearly everywhere!!! It looks really horrible!!! :(
Would be very helpful to hear, if that endocrinologist is able to help you somehow!! Please keep us updated Sherry!! I wish you best of luck!!
Someone wrote about some heat sensations - YES I had them, too!! Sometimes at one finger or sometimes even at one foot and so on. It just felt, as if I had put the finger or foot into some warm water. Did you mean that?? Well, this has eased up after being off Yasmin for about 5 months (now it's 8 months!!) and only comes up every few weeks for a short time. My MRI also came up normal (no MS or such...)! So it seems to be all this miserable pill, or the hormonal imbalance caused by it!!
HAIR LOSS: YES!! It definitely is brought on by Yasmin or the hormonal imbalance after getting off. Even some women who were pregnant get that hair loss shortly after the birth of their children and it goes away as soon as the hormones are back in balance again!! Don't worry too much about that!! It will get better and all your lost hair will grow back. Especially in an age of 21!! Be sure!!
PLEASE every NEW READER of this Forum go through all of the posts here, everyhting you are mentioning now has been written down in some posts some day here!! I swear!!
I read them all through in the heaviest time of my life and this was the only thing that helped me, not to go mad or give up and lose hope completely!! It's worth taking your time and reading everything here, I swear!! You'll be so much delighted after finding out, that you're really not alone with this shit!!!
Best wishes to all of you!!
Greetings
Silke

I was perscribed Levaquin after a complete regiment of amoxicillin for a sinus infection. After the second day, my heart began racing, I was sweating purfusely and shaking took over my body. I felt as though I was going to black out. I called my doctor who called back 5 hours later. My husband came home from work because I thought I might go to the hospital. While waiting for him I read the sheet that came with the medication and lo and behold, it can cause a hypoglycemic reaction which is what I was experiencing. After drink a soft drink I felt fine. I told the Doctor what happened but she told me to make sure I eat carbs and stay on the med. The 1st 14 pills did nothing for my infection, so she ordered a second regiment. After starting the second supply, I found that I was loosing the ability to walk. My legs swelled and I had severe pain in my one foot. This continued for three days over a weekend. I have cronic Lyme disease where I have been in remission for 9 years. I chalked it up to my remission fading until I found this website. One of the people who wrote in experinced the exact same symptons. Needless to say, I will no longer be taking this drug or a similar derivitive. I made an appointment with a new doctor and see if he can come up with something that will help me recover from this infection.

I have pain in my left hip flexor when taking Lipitor. I was on 40mg/day and went on a daily walk with my wife after her back surgery. My left hip flexor would cramp. Sometimes it would cramp so bad, I had to quit walking and catch a ride home.
I had a month holiday off of Lipitor and could run after a week with no pain.
I started back on 10mg/day and the pain has returned, but not as bad.
I did an experiment- Laying flat on my back, I could lift my left leg one foot off of the floor. I stopped the Lipitor for seven days and could lift my left leg two feet off of the floor.
