Daughter's ear infection was not responding well to prescribed antibiotic. Dr called in levaquin as replacement. Within THREE MINUTES, daughter was having reaction to levaquin. Within thirty minutes of taking levaquin, I had her in the ER. She is 15 years old, 5'5" 115 lbs, active healthy teen. Heart rate was 130. BP 130/88. She couldn't stop shaking, difficulty breathing, lips/tongue swelling, face, hands and feet numb.

I have been on this pill for four months. It has been an experience. If you miss one pill you will bleed for the rest of the pack and then get you period again. I have had multiple yeast infections since I started taking this pill. Some say this is due to the sugar component in the pill that gives it the minty flavor. I get headaches all the time and severe mood swings.Recently I started clotting from the pills. I don't know what that was all about. I started this pill because I needed a higher dosage but it is too sensitive and I could do without the yeast infections. Also, my dermatologist stated that it has an ingredient in it that causes acne. My acne has been minimal. It is not nearly as bad as it was when I was on other pills. I am switcing to Ortho-tricyclen regular because the lo makes me spot. I hope I have better success

My experience with Yasmin was awful!!! I had been on BCPs before with no problems(both were Ortho-something). I'd had no problems with depression, I was never one to cry much and I was very active. Well, I had a little spotting so my doctor switched me over to Yasmin thinking it might help and the spotting between periods did stop. For me, everything was fine at first. The depression came on slowly, but once it did it just got worse and worse. I was always exhausted, I never wanted to do anything, I felt out of shape and my heart would race when I tried to go hiking. I was suddenly crying all of the time and getting terribly upset about nothing, instantly. I began to seriously dislike myself and I was watching what had seemed to be the perfect relationship fall apart before my eyes due to the strain that had been put on it. I FINALLY realized that something was terribly wrong when I was standing in the middle of a beautiful forest on vacation at a resort with the love of my life and I was screaming at him for a reason I could no longer remember. Then I broke down into a hysterical fit of tears. I dug out the pamphlet I got with my pills and somewhere in the back it finally listed depression as a possible side effect. I rushed down to the computer and found so many women with experiences just like mine. I called my doctor to switch my perscription back to the pill I'd been on previously; she wouldn't do it. I finished my pack and haven't gone near the stuff since. That was in April/May. After a month I was feeling better--like a fog was starting to clear from my mind. By three months the mood swings were mostly gone and I was concentrating better and smiling a lot more. Now, I'm finally me again and my boyfriend and I managed to save our relationship (thanks primarily to his patience and understanding) and I'm excited about living again. Yasmin may work for some people but in my opinion it's just not worth the risk.

BUT NOW I TRIED LOESTRIN AND IT HAS HELPED ALOT.. MADE PERIODS FROM THREE WEEKS TO FIVE DAYS AND ALOT LESS FLOW.. ALSO I HAVE READ BEFORE ON OTHER SITES THAT IT IS COMMON TO NOT HAVE A PERIOD AT ALL.. MANY WOMEN HAVE HAD THAT AND WERE NOT PREGNANT.. SO DONT GET SO SCARED. JUST CHECK IT OUT. BUT REMEMBER THIS EVERYONE.. ALL PILLS WILL HAVE DIFFERENT EFFECT ON DIFFERENT PEOPLE.. JUST TRY MORE THAN ONE PILL TO FIND THE RIGHT ONE FOR U..

I was on Yasmin for 3 years, at first I thought it was a perfect fit for me - I had shorter, less painful periods. Over the course of the next 2 years I had CHRONIC Urinary tract infections and yeast infections. I mean like 10 a YEAR. My gyno didn't know what was wrong (I'm meticulous about cranberry juice, cleaning, etc) and prescribed me a antibiotic. I had to take one pill after intercourse. Well, apparently 1 was enough to throw off the balance and I'd end up with a yeast infection.
In addition to all that I TOTALLY lost my sex drive. I've been off the pill now for 4 months and I'm still waiting for it to return.
I wouldn't reccomend this pill to anyone.

I took one pill of this crap, one pill. Woke up at 2:00 the next morning and with lips that made me look like Bucky the Chipmunk. Then the itching! It's been a week and I still itch. 1 PILL! No - no - no, was on Toprol for years but there was concern with it's combo with my Paxil. I finally had to go on a steroid series to try to control the itching; terrible!

I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to all the people that have posted their experiences here. I am so sorry to hear of your miseries, but you have prevented me from going down the same road.

I was prescribed Levaquin and my wife suggested before I take any antibiotics check on the side effects. Yikes! I have not touched one pill nor do I ever intend to. I will take my chances on the infection any day!

Is it possible to have a reaction after only one pill??? I took my first dose of this for a UTI today and when I showered tonight I noticed large, quarter size red welts from the top of my breasts down to the tops of my legs. It freaked me out so I started looking it up on the internet, when my husband recommended i check the side effects of this medication. Any thoughts?

I'm 30 and in good shape...Last thursday I went to the Dr for an ear infection and pnumonia, he gave me samples for 750 mg for 5 days and 500mg for 2 days after the first pill I couldn't sleep tossing all night ususally I hit the pillow and I'm out, I woke up exausted dizzy and with a head ache and the shakes, at work my arms, well to be more specific, my elbows and neck were getting tight and very sore, I attributed it to all the tossing the night before but now on day 6 I'm still tired having weird dreams , no sleep, my knees and elbows and neck really hurt not to mention extream irritability and depression my mood is just awful again thought it was just from being sick. But questioned it so looked on line and found this, I'm shocked, I am allergic to pennicillin which is why the Dr said he gave mw this instead I have one pill left and I just thew it in the trash and I'm calling my Dr first thing in the morning to report these problums.
This is a real wake up call, wish I would have looked up this med before I started taking it, but for sure I will from now on, Guess it is up to our selves to protect our selves can't count on anyone else to do it for us..

After jsut 1 pill I had swollen hands, felt like head was swollen but it didin't look like it! Tremendously sore jaw and ears-like a very severe sinus infection. Intense head ache, felt like I was crawling out of my skin, fidgty-yet tired, severe muscle aches in upper body...This was after just one pill. I stopped and I was fine 24 hours later...none of the symptoms remained.

I have been taking Sulfameth/Trimeth for a bladder infection, one pill 2x a day. I started taking it on Thursday and felt pretty good for Thursday and Friday. Saturday I started having major headaches, feeling itchy all over, feeling a little bummed out, and felt a bit short of breath. I woke up today (Sunday) and had HORRIBLE pains in my left arm and my heart felt like it was beating much faster than normal. I took my pill and had something to eat, and took some Tylenol for the headache and I started to feel a bit better.

Once the Tylenol started to wear off, the pain in my arm was back, along with my left leg. It sort of felt like I had exercised way too much and that it was just stiff and sore. I've lost my appetite and am extremely tired but feel unable to sleep. Also today I feel depressed and angry and the littlest thing will set me off. I have 2 days left of this pill, I can't wait to be off it, and I will never take it again. I am contacting my doctor tomorrow morning to see if I should continue taking this as long as it was prescribed, or if I should just stop right now.

Why do doctors prescribe this when there are things that work much better with less side effects!?

Hi, my name is Pete I also was prescribed LEVAQUIN 750 mg on 2/5/07 I only took one pill . I stop taking it for it made me hallucinate & confused. I went back to my DR I told him about the side affects that I had encountered but he said that it should have not done this ; but of course the dr's do not have any clue of what this is doing to people this is why we need to post this information so that no one else will go thru what everyone that has taken this antibotic ( evil pill ). I have been off of it for 26 days & still get some anxiety attacks. I do say get your family & friends to support you during this painful time. My wife was told by a nurse that it would take 21 days for it to flush out of my system but I am still on other antibiotics. me and my family pray for each person who taken this ugly medicine.KEEP YOUR FAITH AND HOPE IN GOD!

I took Yasmin for the last 2.5 years. Over time, I came to recognize major side effects that I am still very concerned about to include: Popping of eardrums. Exhaustion. Sensation of paralysis following taking it and lying down. Constant running to the bathroom to urinate (due to droperinone which acts as a diuretic), developed heart murmur and pain across my chest (squeezing sensations). Major change in vision in the right eye within 6 months. Painful pressure in both ears due to this pills increase of potassium in your body. Ears would pop for two hours after I took the pill.

I have been off of Yasmin for 2 months, initially went onto its sister/cousin Yaz and felt just as terrible so I went off of that as well.

A Hearing Aide doctor actually told me that oral contraceptives have been known for a long time to be "odo-toxic". Which means-toxic to the inner ear. How come prescribing Gynecologists, Doctors and pharmacists don't know this?

The synthethic hormone in YASMIN AND YAZ -dirosperone increases potassium levels in the body. Inner ear is composed of a potassium and sodium fluid. An inbalance in this fluid would likely cause pressure in the ear. I had to learn the majority of this information from people other than the prescribing doctor, an RN or the pharmacist.

Wow. I don't remember when my doc first gave me Yasmin, and I have no records since he's always given me samples. Hopefully it's in my charts. I've taken it on and off over the last year or so. Last October/November I had horrible anxiety/insomnia - never had anxiety before in my life. Then in April I started with IBS. I also get mild migraines (like right now). I never thought it would be my birth control until i noticed a precipitous drop in my libido and vaginal moisture - it's been low for months but lately I can't even "have relations" with my SO because I can't get lubricated at ALL. He thinks it's his fault. I finally started looking into Yasmin as the reason for my sexual dysfunction (I'm only 27 btw), but never expected the anxiety and IBS to enter the picture.

Jeez. And of course I just took the first pill for this month. If I stop taking it now, even after just one pill, I'll just get my period again, won't I?

I have a five year old Pekingese dog,who was prescribed Prednisone,5mg,for his constant itching. He started one pill a day for seven days, then one pill every other day for four days,then1/2 pill until finished. He is on his fourth pill and he will not eat,and is shaking all over, though he does not have a fever.Could this be caused by fthe Prednisone? and if so,is it safe to stop giving him the pills? The doctor's office is closed today, and i would appreciate any advice A.S.A.P.

I tool one pill and a few hours later I was shaking uncontrollably and extremely cold. I had joint pain, aches in bones and muscles throughout my body. I had no energy, could not eat or sleep. I never want to experience this again. It was far worse than flu.
The doctor recommended three Ibuprofen and Benedryl exery 3 hours for the pain and to "get rid of the toxins". It took three days to return to normal.
Do Not use this medication!

I took one Levaquin pill for an infection and within 30-45 minutes I was begging my husband to commit me because I felt crazy. I finally fell asleep about 4 hours later. I took the pill around 9:30 pm. I have severe TMJD, which has been aggrivated due to this. I woke up with a horriffic headache and completely green with nausea. It is slowly subsiding, thank goodness. I asked my father-in-law if he has heard of Levaquin. He told me that it is used by the military to treat anthrax poisioning. Why is this suff available by perscription to the general public? Shouldn't it be more highly regulated? I am so glad I found this site. I really thought I was going crazy. These are horrible side effects for simply having taken one pill.

Restless, jumpy, unable to get or stay asleep. Been taking for 5 days now (500 mg), one pill a day, but finally figured out that it may be the levaquin so I won't take the last 2 doses. Hope I can get some rest tonight......

Went to the doc yesterday and he said I had a problem with my eustachian tube. He prescribed Nasacort and Guaifenex.

Took one pill last night around 6pm (with a 20 oz bottle of water). I could not fall asleep until 3:30 - 3:45 this morning. Tossed a turned a *lot*. Seemed like I'd go thru stages of being too hot, then too cold. Had intense dry mouth at some point in there. Glad I'm not the only one who seemed to hallucinate. =o/

This morning I woke up at 9:30, took another pill. Felt stoned most of the day. It wasn't until 1:30 pm that I managed to get myself into the shower. Good thing I didn't have to be anywhere.

I took one more pill at 6:30 this evening. I really wish I had found this sight beforehand. I'll definitely call my doctor tomorrow to see if I can just stick to the Nasacort. **sigh**

Posting to fix typographical error, other changes made.

Flomax should not be used by anyone. It attacks the eyes. One would never want to hurt the eyes. One will not be able to have cataracts removed, either. I took a single pill, before I knew this, and yet some side effects keep increasing for one week now. I guess my liver is not very good. Without a healthy enough liver, this stuff might remain in blood forever. I don't know what is going to happen. I have no control. I stopped immediately, but the drug effects keep marching on, because drug is still active. Some side effects which are increasing even though I took only one pill: unusual and severe back pain, constipation, excessive sensitivity to light, blurrier vision, headache, transitory sharp pains in eyes. Other side effects which remain but are not increasing are insomnia, (at best now I have restless inferior pieces of sleep with somewhat changed dreams, not restful sleep, a completely different sleeping pattern and experience), also a few nasal things remain that are not getting worse. Over-all am morbidly affected by this change in health this last week, especially distressed I guess by changes in vision, at least some of which and maybe all are permanent, and in the sudden lack of hope for removing cataracts in the future. My sense of self is of course changed and the knowledge of my lack of sufficient thoroughness in checking this drug out, recklessness in using, doesn't help either, but the main thing is simply being less healthy.
