My 15 month old son was just put on this Friday, four days ago. He had been on Zyrtec since he was five months old and his allergies had recently gotten worse along with a percistant cough. As the weekend went on he became more and more angry and fidgety. Sunday afternoon, after his nap he came running down the hall screaming and crying (this nap is usually 1 1/2 hours long and he had only been asleep for 30 to 45 minutes when this happened). He was very upset for about 20 minutes. He is normally a very happy, fun loving child. Later that afternoon he didn't get his way and took it out on me. He began to kick and scream(at the top of his lungs) , throwing his head back, and then hitting me. Everyone that was with us have been around him from day one and they all said how he wasn't himself and had never seen him act this way. Now, this morning on our drive into town to go to daycare he normally is talking the whole way (45 minutes) but this morning he was just staring off out the window and didn't want to talk or "have a conversation" with me. I knew something wasn't right and had already had it in my head he wasn't getting another dose of this. I found this site and some of the little things began to jump out at me and I know for sure we aren't going to take this again. I just hope and pray that this hasn't caused any lasting side effects, again he has only been on it for 4 days. After reading all of this I have called the daycare to check and the doctor, who hasn't called me back yet. Going to see his ENT tomorrow and we will be having a long conversation about it all. His ped. is the doctor who put him on it. She is trying to try everything before he is put on a nebulizer.

Another side effect named on the Singulair web site is ear infections. This med. should have never been given to my son who has already had one round of tubes because of ear infections. The tubes have already fallen out and within a week he had an ear infection.

I decided to get Mirena after the birth of my second son. I seemed like such a great idea. I had it put in last Sept. My doctor is very good and warned me about some things that might happen after it was inserted. What I didn't expect was just how bad I bled after getting it. I know it sounds like I'm exaggerating, but there was a point where I was running to the bathroom every 15 minutes to change. It was horrible, but my doctor assured me that everything was normal and I should see some improvement within the next few months. Including the heavy bleading, I bled for about a month and a half straight. About a month of that was the annoying spotting. Since then, I haven't had a period, which I love...the only thing I love about it. The past year has been rough, but I never associated it with Mirena until now. I was starting to lose my baby weight but now I weigh about 5 lbs more than I did just after giving birth. My stomach looks bigger than my sister's and she's almost 7 months pregnant. I was put on anti depressants, but associated that with post partum depression...now I'm not sure what caused it. My husband and I have been fighting more and we even considered spitting up. I'm just not ME and he has even said it. I have acne like a teenager, weight gain (no matter what I do), very low sex drive, BLOATING, cramps, my memory is pretty much non existent, nausea, horrible sleep pattern which causes extreme tiredness all the time, sore body, constant discharge, and blurred vision. I've actually taken pregnancy tests because I felt worse than when I was pregnant. I've talked to my husband about the Mirena and wanting to get it out, but he's just worried that I'll get pregnant again if I get it out. He doesn't realize how bad I really feel cuz I'm not telling him. We decided that our marriage is worth saving so I'm trying to do my part by not getting mad at him for every little thing and not complaining about how awful I feel. He just started a new job, too, so insurance hasn't started at the new place and his old place of employment has already stopped it through them. I can't pay for a regular doctor's visit without insurance, so I guess I'm stuck with it for now. Sorry for babbling, I just don't have anyone to talk to, so once I start, I just keep going.

Zyrtec has helped my one year old's eczema. My eldest who is now 6 has taken it for a year now. I have seen some possible mild behavior responses. Now that he doesn't need it as much we are testing this possibility. I would suggest looking into which type of zyrtec a child is taking. You may want to question the use of aspartame sweetner as a possible culprit in causing issues with behavior and stomach issues.

I posted a long time ago, but have had some updates since then. 3 year old son with asthma/allergies on Singulair, having nightmares and agressive behavior. Had been on it before when he was one year old with no probs. Called pharmacist and said to read package insert. Sure enough, "uncommon" side effects included nightmares (can't think of the exact wording they used but close enough) and agressiveness. Those cautions did not use to be in the insert and was placed in there I believe in 2004 according to pharmacist. Please read the package insert for possible side effects. This really is a miracle drug, have taken it myself, but side effects are too extreme to warrant continued use for my and my son.

My one year old daughter was prescribed Omnicef as a "last effort" before sending her to an ENT doc when 4 other antibiotics tried over a 2 1/2 month period refused to drain her right ear. She's only been on it one day, and was up SCREAMING twice last night (about 12 hours after taking the meds), acting like she was having HORRIBLE dreams. Once in the middle of the night it appeared that she temporarily stopped breathing, and when regaining her breath wasn't herself, acting all floppy-like. I was up with her all night. Once up, she appeared fine. But after her nap, she had a MAJOR bowel movement...1/2 of which seemed REALLY purplish/red--almost as if it MIGHT be blood, but not sure. After reading what everyone else has written, think I'll be calling her pediatrician. Her second dose of this antibiotic has her SCREAMING again--almost as if she's having serious intestinal discomfort. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ANTIBIOTIC!!!!!

My one year-old daughter was taking it for her double ear infections. Today was day 10 of her ten-day course and I pray that her side effects end quickly. She has been sent home from daycare everyday since she started taking Omnicef. She has had diarrhea the whole time and now has developed a fever during the last 2 days of treatment. And I don't think it has cleared her ear infections. Never again will I let our pediatrician prescribe Omnicef for us.
