I am a 44 year old female with diabetes. I have high blood pressure and as a precaution was prescribed simvastian(zocor). I have only been on it for about 3 weeks...I have been feeling tired and very moody lately...but yesterday I woke up with my right leg swollen from the calf down my foot with severe burning pain and numbness. Now I have experienced Neuropathy in my left foot for years and somehow thought maybe this pain and numbness and swelling had to do with that...until this morning when I woke up to a severe pain in my right calf ( I immediately thought blood clot).. well I have a doctor's appt tomorrow to see what this is....right now Im sitting at work in so much pain and discomfort I want to cry...my feet are burning, my right leg and right shoulder are in burning pain...and my hands are numb and burning and in pain. I have to sit for hours at a time and cant just take a break when I need too...Ive only been taking this medication for 3 weeks and can not believe that all this pain and burning is from one little pill. Has anyone else had severe swelling from this medicine. Any other diabetics taking this medicine and having the same side effects? Im certain they are going to want me to stay on this medication and at this point after reading all these wonderful post, Im going to stop...Im even having difficulty in typing this post my hands hurt so bad. Im so angry that when I asked my Doctor about side effects he never mentioned these. he told me about being nauseated, constipated and so one...Ohh and I have also gained about 10 pounds in 3 weeks without changing my eating habits...anyone else have that? Thank you for letting me vent here. I was scared to death until I found this site. I was seriously considering leaving work and going to the ER room...Now Im just going to stop taking it and waiting this out till tomorrow....

i have been on warfarin since April 2008 when i had a clot in my left leg. since, i haven`t really had much going on until last week. i was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. i got dizzy and had a very cold wave rush up my body twice. when it was over, i couldn`t hear anything and my temples were tingling and my heart rate was elevated along with my bp. the er drs didn`t seem concerned with any thing that had to do with the dvt or the warfarin. their response???????? you drink too much coffee. WELL. i haven`t had a cup of coffee for almost a week, and have also quit smoking. i am still dizzy. my head feels heavy. i get little cool rushes that almost take my breath away, i don`t feel like ME. i feel like someone has taken over the me i knew. my family doctor has done liver, mono, hepatitis, b12, folic acid profiles, all negative. had a ct scan yesterday, normal. having an echocardiogram next week and having a holter monitor put on for 24 hrs to monitor my heart. i have done nothing but sleep since this episode. my husband is scared to death i`m gonna die during the night, he wakes up just to check on me. i haven`t been sleeping very well, as i`m afraid i`m not gonna wake up. i am only 40. i am not ready to let my life go to pot because of a drug that all the doctors insist is "safe". well i don`t know. call me stupid, but if its so safe, why do they kill rats with it????????????

pancreatitis,, After being prescribed Byetta for Type II Diabetes by a PA, I used the 5 dose size of Byetta for 30 days, then I went on 10 dose of Byetta twice a day. on a Saturday morning I had discomfort under my left breast after my AM injection, then after PM injection I began to experience severe pains under my left breast, they got progressively worse as the minutes went by, terrible pain, ended up in the emergency room, blood tests showed increased pancreatic enzymes, I was given a prescription and told to visit my GP on Monday. My GP knew what had caused it as soon as I told him I had been taking Byetta, he had other patients who had the same thing to happen. I called the mfg, they were aware of the problem, the FDA has put out a warning after I began taking the Byetta. There were no warnings about pancreatitis in the medicines I had received. Since this instance in December, I have talked with two others who had similar experiences with Byetta. I now am left with chronic pancreatic pain and am on meds for that. From what I have read have a 4% chance of developing pancreatitis cancer as a result of the attack. When you read the little infor out there about this, it appears to be pushed off as long time alcoholics who drink excessively are the ones who have had this problem with Byetta. I would estimate it has been at least 4 years since I have had a cocktail and have never been an alcoholic... BEWARE!!!

I had been taking 50MG of Toprol for approx 1 yr with no apparent side effects. A few months ago, I went through a Cox-Maze open heart procedure when my dosage was doubled to 100MG to help reduce my elevated heart rate of 120-140 BPM. My heart rate continued to remain high and I had a very pronounced shortness of breath, went to the ER where I was found to have fluid around my heart/lungs. After being treated with diuretics and a couple additional medications, the heart rate continued to remain high so my dose of Toprol was doubled to 200 MG....since that time, I have noticed increased muscle weakness, fatigue, and have almost passed out several times. It is a very scary and insecure feeling not being able to go anywhere or do anything in fear of passing out.

Question...I have had migraines for most of my life, the first one I remember was when I was 7. I cannot stomach narcotic pain relievers and was thrilled when Imitrex came out. I took it for years. The only side effects I had were a warm rush, like an alcohol buzz, and sleepiness. Then, 5 years ago I was diagnosed with severe mitral regurgitation. My doctor took me off Imitrex right away and switched me to Maxalt, which I also love. It works great. I had open heart in 2001 to fix the mitral valve, then early in 2005 discovered I have tricuspid regurgitation. No surgery as of yet, thank God. I am on disability for the first heart problem and medicare and medical assistance will no longer cover the Maxalt, only the Imitrex. I took one the other day and almost had to go to the ER. I could barely move, breathe, or speak. Thankfully, after an hour or so, the symptoms subsided. But it really scared me. Now my doctor is giving me all the samples he can of Maxalt that they get in the office.
I am wondering if there is a connection between vavular disease and Imitrex? Has anyone had any of these problems?

To be honest, I liked this medicine since I took it the firs time because my arrythmia stopped, BUT the libido is gone out somewhere else. The problem number 2 is that if I don't take the metroprolol, I have heart problems, and one advice: Don't ever stop taken the pill once your Doctor give it to you because you will have a real hard experience, he he.
I don't like medicine, before I knew I had and ASD in my heart I used not to take even pills for the flu, now my life has changed a lot, I can't still get used to be an "open heart operated", but I'm happy I'm alive and that the problem stopped.....even I was a little bit old when I knew I was just feeling worse and worse..... I'm 30 years and my heart problem just began.
Good luck, sorry my english, my name is Alina from Mexico.

I was prescribed Loestrin24Fe 3months ago because I had an ovarian cyst for a few months. Also (aside from the cyst) I had a history of endometriosis, severe cramps and uterine fibroids. My periods would come like clockwork, however I would spot for about 3weeks out of the month. Basically, I'd have about 4days a month spot-free.
Since taking Loestrin24Fe, my spotting has decreased significantly, and I'm looking forward to even more improvement. 1st month on this pill my cramps were nothing to write home about. 2nd and 3rd months, I could have written a novel as the pain was baaaad, but still not worse than before beginning Loestrin24Fe. I have had 2 yeast infections, that being said, I also have a new sexual partner after over a year of having no partners at all, so- I don't want to blame the pill for the yeast infections.
My bleeding wasn't terribly heavy before this pill, but it has gotten lighter- which is fine by me.
I have noticed that my fuse is much shorter and I've made mountains out of mole-hills. I feel for the first time in my life that I've been experiencing a bit of anxiety...nothing clinical, but there nonetheless.
So far I am very pleased with this pill and I'll continue to take it with an open heart and mind. Simply not spotting for nearly an entire month has done wonders for my psyche, and for me dealing with a little anxiety is worth it. I feel now that I know what the cause of the anxiety is, I am better armed to cope with it instead of letting the anxiety grow legs and run wild.
