Opened my eyes symptoms and conditions

Ive been on Yasmin for exactly 2 weeks now. The first 5 days were fine but now that its propally into my system ive started to feel the side effects. Ive felt nausea, depression, stomach pains and last night i had the worst migraine i have ever had. I couldnt lift my head off my pillow and i could hardly see when i opened my eyes. Im going on holiday soon and im unsure wether to carry on taking Yasmin. Can anyone suggest what they would do?

I have been complaining to my Doctor about prolonged coughing that has lasted over 8 months. The cough is so bad that it causes me to vomit periodically. I was put on two different antibiotics told that I may have whooping cough and the only thing that helped the cough was tussinex cough medicine that was very expensive. Whooping cough was ruled out by health department. I told the doctor I could not keep taking the cough medicine so he tried another cough medicine that did not help. A friend told me yesterday that he knew a friend that had a similar cough caused by his blood pressure medicine so I came home and started researching the net and found this site that has really opened my eyes. I called my doctor but he has not returned my call yet. After reading this information I may have had another side effect of this medication Lisinopril of which I felt like I was going to pass out sitting at my computer one day. I hope that I find out the cough was caused by this medicine because it has literally wore me out coughing so much. I have pulled abdomen muscles from coughing so hard and told the doctor but he has never mentioned it could be related to Lisinopril.

I had been taking Lisinopril and HCTZ for several years. I too had the cough, the fatigue but just never associated it with the meds until I read this website. It opened my eyes and I shared the information with my doctor in Dec. She immed. changed meds to Triamterene/HcTZ 35MG and I am doing somewhat better. I was diagnosed with Fibromylgia this past fall and now wonder if some of the side effects were from the meds. My BP is 120/75. Which is great for me. Thanks for sharing the information, I sure didn't get the informatin from the inserts from the meds. Thanks again for sharing.

I started searching for any side effects of Yasmin after a young lady on another website that I frequent asked about it. I started taking yasmin in 2002 after I had sugery to remove tumors from my ovaries. I experienced such terriblr pain during my menstral cycle right before and right after my surgery that my gyno prescribed it for me. It did stop the pain but my body has not seemed right ever since. I contributed it to my body being confused after my surgery, I never would have contributed it to the yasmin. I had absolutely no sexual desire (and it is still at a minimum), I would wake up in a pool of sweat every night, I have had excessive weight gain. Before my surgery, I weighed 115. At my last visit to the gyno I weighed 160, My weight had not been an issue in my adult life and I cannot seem to lose the weight. Since beginning a serious workout routine, I have had terrible pain in my knees and I battle with depression and for a while had constant anxiety attacks. When I tried to tell my doctor that I thought something was wrong, especially about the weight gain, he said that it couldn't possibly be the yasmin. This site has really opened my eyes. I am amazed at what I have read here. It seems like all of the symptoms that have been plagueing me this year may be connected. I was put on Yasmin in April because my gyno said I MAY have PCOS. I didn't test positive but they said I should go ahead and go on Yasmin for it and it would help me shed the 13 pounds I had gained.
I since have gained 15 pounds on Yasmin. I have a very small appetite and I'm a vegetarian, so I know it has not been because of my diet. I started getting severe headaches behind my eyes that would travel to the back of my head on either the right or left side. I had tests and no one has been able to figure out the cause of my weight gain or headaches. I also have become so overwhelmed by anxiety and depression that I basically dropped out of my life. I even have been having recurring thoughts of suicide. Being fat now and having these headaches all of the time doesn't exactly help the depression either. I will not be taking my Yasmin tomorrow. I am not sure what to do about the gyno, but I plan to to something. My physician sent me to the gyno last week to tell her that she thought Yasmin was causing my weight gain. The gyno insisted that Yasmin could only cause me to LOSE weight. She actually convinced me.

I really feel for you as I am in the same situation. You know that was not the real you but nobody else does. I strongly recommend if you have not done so already is give this website to your boyfriend and let him read it. If he cares enough about you and if he man enough he will read it.

For me it really opened my eyes to how damaging these pills can be to a person and end up affecting your whole life.

Don't despair and don't give up either. But a word of advice from someone who has learnt some hard lessons from the past, don't beg for him back, give him the website and ask him to read it, if he willing and does read it he surely will forgive you if he doesn't then he is a coward and be prepared to walk away and don't contact him again.

Wow - thank you all for your comments - you've certainly opened my eyes - I've been on Advair 250 for 5 months and I've been working out like crazy and my belly is as fat as ever. I too am an insomniac, and have been taking Ambien now and can't sleep without it. My skin is unimaginably dry and I can't concentrate at work - this all makes sense now - I'm going to talk to my doctor on MOnday. I was hospitalized for severe asthma months ago ... but there has got to be another way. Thank you allllll for your sharing your experiences -

Gosh!! Here I am thinking that there's something wrong with me...but I have the same side effects as all of you...on EVERY pill i take. I have horrible emotional bouts--I'll cry over something silly, I have NO SEX DRIVE WHATSOEVER and I am ALWAYS tired. I have a busy life, so I thought that was the reason for my fatigue. I am young and should have an enourmous sex drive, but I don't. And the week before I get my period I need a bathroom every five seconds, and I have horrible gas.

I had taken Yasmin for almost two years, and stopped about 6 weeks ago. Reading the postings on this site really opened my eyes. When you ask your doctor if these odd side effects could be from Yasmin, they act stunned that you could even think such a thing...it's supposed to be the new "miracle drug" they say.

Looking back, I can now accurately target just what Yasmin brought to my life since these side effects have disappeared ever since I stopped this awful pill. After about 6 months on Yasmin I began having SEVERE anxiety attacks -- so bad that I was put on medication and wondered what was wrong with me. I was depressed...a level of depression that can almost not be put into words...along with mood swings that made my friends think that I was defiitely losing it. I had foot cramps regularly, acne, shortness of breath and utter exhaustion 24/7. These are the bad things.

On the only good note, my periods were light, pain-free and wonderful. That was why I stayed on for as long as I did.

I was switched to Mircette 6 weeks ago and all of the Yasmin side effects are now gone. Unfortunately with Mircette, I began hemmoraging a week ago (2 weeks before my period was due) and am still bleeding. I now do not know what to take, or if I should go without. If anyone has advice, I would much appreciate it.

I hope that reading about my Yasmin experiences has helped you, please don't think that any of these side effects are just you...no matter what the doctor says.
