I am a 56 year old that had an aortic valve replacement 51/2 years ago, I have been on toprol only 12 mg a day for around 4 years I have had minor side effects, cold feet, cold hands, optical migraine headaches (once in a while). I was on the real toprol for years and then the folks at walgreens offered a generic and I excepted, things were fine and I was rolling along until they chaned generic brands from SANDOZ to ETHEX, I seemed fine on the SANDOZ it even looked the same as the real thing, but when walgreens gave me ETHEX (which is a round pill about twice as large as the other) I began to feel sensations in the middle of my chest and sometimes while taking my pulse it felt like my Heart stopped or skipped a beat, this scared the shit out of me! I took about 22 days worth of EHTEX and the symptoms kept getting worse, I finally called the Cardio folks and they suggested that I wear a Holter monitor for 24 hours, which I did and felt that I had a few Heart stopping moments along with a odd heart burn sensation in the middle of my chest. Two nights ago I found some of the SANDOZ that I had saved for vacations and began taking 12 mg of that instead of the ETHEX today for the first time in nearly 3 weeks I had NO Heartburn problems and NO Heart stopping experience, mind you this was only day one! Looking forward to day 2 and now that I have read all of the side effects from all the good folks on this site, that are not listed when you purchase the drugs, my opinion is that all GENERIC drugs that are suppose to be IDENTICAL to the real thing is a huge lie! What the hell is the FDA doing? Are they trying to let the GENERIC FOOLS poison all of the good folks that actually need these drugs without doing or maybe reading the test results? Or maybe the drug company's have so much clout that they can grease a few palms and get there GENERIC shit to market. To think that these drugs are suppose to be IDENTICAL and then to receive a pill that looks NOTHING like the real thing and when you bust it in half it's a different frickin color (ETHEX)!!!! What was I thinking taking this GENERIC piece of garbage! The GENERIC buttheads along with the real manufacturers should be required by LAW to list ALL ingredients on the label so all of the good folks can read and compare to see what there swallowing and putting into there bodes! I hope to get off of thos drug soon but if I don't rest asure that I will seek out the real thing. I was so freaked out by the side effects that the Cardio Doctor scheduled an ECHO for this Friday, I think the valve is fine but we will find out! Good luck all!

HEY PSYCHMEDMAN TURN OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK and get off your high-horse. If you listened to patients instead of trying to tell them whats wrong with them and you know better, you will help them. It sounds to me like your more interested in showing everyone how smart you are than making people well. Just because your body doesn't have adverse effects, and even if the majority of the population doesn't, does not mean that people are making this up. I have no other medications, never been treated for any mental illness, and I don't believe I have one, but I have had a physically debilitating condition that no doctor has been able to diagnose for over a year. I have resisted taking anything for a "mental condition" because I know that is not what started my trouble, but I allowed them to treat me for it now because after being in this situation for a while, I am feeling a little depressed.

I did not even think to go anywhere to see about any side-effects or suspect the Bupropion that have have been taking for just a few days until a nurse (yes there are other medical professionals that disagree with you, I know this must be a shock) told me his opinion was that the drug's side-effects out-weigh the benefits, and how surprising, the recent headaches, lucid dreams/nightmares & joint pain I HAD ALREADY EXPERIENCED, NOT SOMETHING I READ ABOUT FIRST were being experienced by others on the same drug. I am not you, everyone's chemestry is different, and different drugs affect us all differently. I hope that you change your attitude and open your mind a little more so you can be more helpful than arrogant.

I will not be taking this drug again at any dose, for any reason. I was only taking 75 mg for 2-3 days and I had these side effects.

I do want to say to anyone thinking of going off this or any other mind altering drug DO NOT GO OFF COLD TURKEY especially if you have been taking it long term and or high dosages as this can be more harmful and dangerous than the current effects, it may cause a psychotic episode. If you want information to back this up, you can see for yourself where several medical journals have been sounding the alarm on several of these drugs at:
http://www.drugawareness.org/ .. don't be put-off by the intro video if you like me are not a Michael Moor fan, I'm not and I still think he is off on a lot of what he says and does, but on some of what he is saying on this point I cannot ignore the statements by medical professionals relaying the findings of academic research, but much of it is unpopular because I believe, the people who have had good results are much like our friend PSYCHMEDMAN who thinks his experience is going to be everyone else's too.

OK. I started taking this pill on the 3rd of June. I have missed about 4 pills (We dont' mind if we end up preggo, I am on the pills for a different reason.) and I have been on my period for 2 days now. I have had severe breast tenderness, and yesterday my breasts were "drawing" like they do when you need to nurse your baby. Lastnight I ended up squeezing on them a little just to see if anything was there, and little bubbles of Milk came out. I haven't read ANYTHING about this anywhere, and my doctor says that it is a side effect to the Loestrin. But my doctor is a sort of a quack in my opinion. Anyway, if anyone can give me some insight on this I would greatly appreciate it....Thanks.

ok...so i was on yasmin from the age of 17 to about 20 for irregular periods and had no problems. i stopped taking it due to forgetting to take it and my periods had become fine. i'm now 23 and just started taking yaz last month for increasing pain, nausea, and mood swings associate with PMS. i now experience extreme mood swings. i have always had some depression, anxiety, and irritability...but since i have started taking it, i have noticed an increase in these feelings. i am a 4th year pharmacy student and don't have the time or energy to feel like this. i become irritable and angry at the smallest things or no reason at all. i also just feel the urge to cry and do for the same reasons...none. i have done some research on mood disorders and the correct diagnosis of such. since my symptoms were present before and i also have ADD and mild OCD, i'm not sure if it is the yaz causing these feelings or if with all that's going on in my life, a underlying mood disorder has come to surface. for most who don't know...mood disorders are most often genetic and are seen with concominant mood disorders (depression with anxiety, ADD, OCD, etc..). my family suffers from most if not all of these (mom- major depressive disorder, ADHD; dad- anxiety, OCD; brother- ADHD, OCD, mild depression). also, most mood disorders show up during the later teens to late 20's. so my big issue is whether or not my feelings/mood swings are attributed to the "pill" or just a surfaced problem. i have looked into a disorder called cyclothymic disorder. this is when you have depression with hypomania (irritability that doesn't fit the criteria for manic-so not bipolar). i just don't know who to see or what to do. i have a psychologist and i am hoping to get in to seeing him ASAP. anyone got any input or advice?

This shot has ruined my life! I started taking it April 1st 2006. I went through the whole 6 months treatment. The Hot flashes started first. I swear the only way I can discribe it is, it felt like hell escaping my body! The the headaches came. I was taking store bought migraine medication like it was candy. I gained 32 pounds and I am a small build woman. The weight gain is so uncomfortable. Then it hit like the devil I became depressed. I worry all the time about nothing at all, I cry like everyday all day, and I feel like crap all the time.
I recieved my last shot September 1st 2006 and had a Lap. the 13th of September. They said everything looked beautiful and that I was going to stop the hot flashes, the headaches would go away, lose the weight and I would be back to my old self in no time.
Well they were wrong. That medication (Lupron) has screwed me up totally!!! I have heard it worked miracles for some and that is great to each there own. But my oppinion it is the Devils works.
Good luck to those who take it, but I strongly suggest you talk to your doctor about everything that is possible and how and when it can be helped if you experience any side effects!!

I started taking Diovan after trouble with Lisinop (bad cough!) and Hydrochlorozide (didn't work). At first I took one tab a day, but after a month, my BP was not low enough to keep my Dr. happy, so dosage was increased to two a day. I became so exhausted I could not get up off of the couch. I would lay there and try and will myself to get up and do the dishes or something simple. I just didn't feel like myself. Then I found myself lying in bed at night thinking about how I didn't want to go on this way and what would be the easiest way to do away with myself! Now this just isn't me! I immediately quit taking the Diovan and insisted to my Dr. that I will never take it again. Within two weeks I was feeling more normal. Now I am on Toprol, better energy level, but my feet are really sore...guess I will have to wait and see.
