I'm 21 years old. I'm in my last year of college and student teaching. I've only been taking the pill for a week. I thought it was the stress of my last few classes of something for school that was making me this way. I originally was thinking the stress was changing my mood. My boyfriend and I have been arguing and tonight we realized we started all this bickering when I started the pill. I've been extremely moody. I've also been nauseous in the mornings, had high anxiety, been tired and lazy, and just overall "blah" feeling. I agree with someones post I read before about trying different pills to find what works for you. In high school I was on orthotricyclen-lo and I don't recall any of these effects. I took Loestrin for a month just a few months ago and stopped after the first pack because it made me feel the same way. I think I'm going to have to stop this one too because I can't stand feeling like this.

DO NOT TAKE AS A BIRTH CONTROL PILL!!! THE DOSE IS NOT ENOUGH TO PREVENT PREGNANCY. WORST SIDE EFFECTS OF ANY PILL I,VE BEEN ON. IT IS NOT A GENERIC OF ANY OTHER PILL. NOR IS IT MEANT TO BE A BCP. IF YOU WERE SWITCHED TO THIS BY YOUR PHARMACY (IN MY CASE WALGREENS) GO TO YOUR DOCTOR ASAP TO SWITCH TO SOMETHING ELSE. AND REPORT THE PHARMACY. MY DOCTOR TOLD ME THAT THIS PILL IS BASICALLY AN "OLD LADY HORMONE PILL". IT IS AGAINST THE LAW FOR A PHARMACY TO SWITCH YOUR MEDICINE EVEN MORE SO WHEN IT IS SWITCHED TO SOMETHING OTHER THAN WHAT YOU WERE TAKING IT FOR.

I posted a question to anyone who used Tri-Sprintec before, but now it's been several months & I'd like to let everyone else know how it's worked for me! Tri-Sprintec has been the best birth control I've ever taken. I have been on other birth controls over the years, and up to this point Yasmin was good but I still had some side effects. I've just started my fourth month on Tri-Sprintec, and I feel more like myself again. I don't have any crazy mood swings, my skin has cleared up, my periods are regular again & my appetite has gone back to normal. I recommend Tri-Sprintec to anyone who is looking for an affordable & reliable birth control (it's offered at the Wal-Mart pharmacy for $9 a month if you don't have insurance.)

good for about two years, then horrible cramping, headaches, and horrible spotting between periods...it was like i had a period year round. I then switched to Orthotricyclen-lo and didn't have much luck there, same problems. I'm currently on Yasmin and I am dealing with the side effects, but overall unhappy!

I'm only 26 years old and have been on yasmin for a little over a year now. Before yasmin, I was on Orthotricylen and on Orthotricyclen-lo before that. My OBGYN kept switching my pills because after a year or so on one, my period would come before I was even finished the active pills. My doctor said it was because the hormones weren't "strong enough" for my body or something to that effect. I'm not good with science or medical things, so I've just gone along with her advice. I've been on BC since I was 18, so this is 8 years now I've been on chemical hormones, and I'm starting to think I need to stop. I'm willing to deal with severe menstrual cramps if it means getting my normal life back in order. I felt okay with the ortho pills, so I never though in a million years that Yasmin could be making me miserable. I used to be the nicest, happiest, and most optimistic person you'd ever want to meet, and lately, I've been depressed, moody, extremely fatigued (even with a full night's sleep), have lost interest in sex and don't even like being touched sometimes, and I've been anxious about everything-my job, my relationship, my investments, my family. I almost feel as if I don't know my old self anymore. I don't have fun anymore and I have a lack of interest in seeing a lot of people sometimes. I just want to sleep or be alone. I feel bad because my fiance is the one suffering. I feel bad that I have no libido anymore, and he's been extremely supportive of me through my depression/mood swings. I'm so glad he hasn't run for the hills with the way I've changed so suddenly. He has definitely noticed that I'm not myself. I've never before felt like this. I also have a sneaking suspicion that my IBS(irritable bowel syndrome) is connected to Yasmin. I was diagnosed with it just around the same time I began taking Yasmin. In addition, (without giving too much information!), I've noticed a drastic increase in vaginal disharge to the point where I'm wearing little panty liners on a daily basis to keep feeling "fresh." Concerned about this sudden increase of secretions, I went to my OBGYN (actually, I went 2 times for the same thing). She assured me that it wasn't an infection or anything and ran tests to be sure and all checked out fine. She just said that my body "naturally" produces more discharge. Well, I'm beginning to think that that's a load of crap--never before did I experience the heavy daily discharge before Yasmin and I hate feeling "uncomfortable." I don't know anyone else who has to wear liners everyday to feel "fresh." Has this happened to anyone else on Yasmin? I read through many posts and no one else mentioned this. I'm so glad that I'm not alone in most of my side effects, and I plan on seeking medical advice from my OBGYN (who I'm beginning to lose faith in) AND also I plan on seeking advice from my regular family Doctor. I have about 3 active pills left... and after that I'm stopping this pill. I'll revert to strickly condom usage to avert pregnancy and get away from these horrible pills! I can't imagine what damage has been done to my body... I just hope it can be undone!

I kind of feel stupid for not recognizing Yasmin being the problem sooner. I contributed my panic attacks, anxiety and depression to the birth of my daughter in 2004. I was put on Yasmin Summer of 2005. I switched from OrthoTriCyclen Lo because I thought the pill was making me bloated and crampy. I have recently found that I needed a colon cleansing pill that keeps my colon healthy. By Thanksgiving of 2005 I went to my Gyn for my yearly and mentioned my anxiety. He put me on Paxil. A month later I had gained 10 pounds and had to move up to size 12. I was weaned off of Paxil, absolutely miserable. I took Welbutrin, it made me worse. I tried to take nothing for a few months and could not even handle life. For the first time ever I did not want to get out of bed I had such horrible anxiety that I thought I was going crazy. By spring of 2006 I started going to a different doctor. She put me on Effexor, at first I felt great but then I started feeling bad again. I have upped my dose twice and I feel that at 300 mg of Effexor I feel like I should not be feeling anything but I am still depressed and having anxiety. Just yesterday I had a full blown panic attack while going on a dune ride with friends. Something that I normally would enjoy. In Oct. 2006 I was expressing my concern of weight gain to my friend and she mentioned that just maybe, if Yasmin could give me pregnancy breasts(size B cup to D cup) that maybe it is giving me other pregnancy symptoms. I decided to go off of Yasmin, it has almost been 3 months and I am hoping to see a change soon. My breasts have gone to a DD. I have gained another 14 pounds. I have had 1 period and now am 3 weeks late again. I have been bloated and irritable for 4 weeks now. My stomach is so bloated I look like I could be 3 months pregnant. I hope my symptoms have helped some of you, I know yours have helped me. I now feel like there is some hope.

Here is my story. I used OrthoTriCyclen Lo for over a year...no side effects and nothing was wrong. I decided to switch to Yasmin because it was cheaper and I was told that a lot of women were on it.
Needless to say, its been about a month since I've been on it and I feel horrible. I have such bad stomach cramps and bloating. It feels like I don't eat anything and I still have to run so fast to the bathroom. I called the GYN and she told me that it could be a virus or an upper GI infection. BUT, the thing is that I do not get sick that often. I barely get side effects with any medication I take. Yasmin is the first BCP that I have had side effects with. I guess I have to prove the GYN wrong. I know that it is a side effect and not a hallucination or virus/infection.
I constantly feel dehydrated and irritable. I also have a mild case of depression. I just don't want to talk to anyone and I feel sad. I go home after work and I will just sit there quietly and my mother always thinks that something is wrong. Sometimes I feel like crying but for no apparent reason.
Maybe this is a sign for me to stop. I guess I will have to go back to OrthoTriCyclen Lo since it worked great for me...
Maybe I should listen to my own advice...

Thank you for everyone's posts. You have been great! I wish the best to all...

Hello!

I have experienced extreme fatigue during the last week of hormones on Orthotricyclen Lo, Orthotricyclen, and Yasmin. Yasmin seems to be the worst - I can't function for at least 5 days. Plus, the weight gain - most likely bloating - but still it's miserable. I'm waiting on a call from my gyn, but I'm ready to get off bcp's completely.

hello! Wow I'm glad to find this site! I have been on Orthotricyclen-Lo, Orthotricyclen, and now Yasmin in just the past 8 months. The nurses and OB/GYN like to tell me to just give it "one more month", but when you're going through severe mood swings, one more month is an eternity! Besides, BCPs shouldn't keep us from living our normal lives! My problem is also with extreme fatigue on the last few days of hormones and then into my period. I bloat the whole time I'm on the hormones...and my boobs are waaaay too big. Plus, around the 3rd week, I get depressed - consistently. I can't live like this. I'm waiting on a phone call from my ob-gyn to get her thoughts on getting of BCPs for good. I never had any issues with my periods before getting on bc and I can sure find another way to keep from getting pregnant.
