Don't ever take this drug. I was hesitant when I saw the list of side effects. But my UTI was so bad and I didn't want to go back to the doctor for him to prescribe something else. Why he did not give me the same antibiotic that I had last winter with my previous UTI I have no idea. I had a 5 day dose. It went fine. Everything went downhill the evening of my last morning dose which was 10/24/09. Today is 10/26. The chills and aches immediately kicked in big time. I went right to bed with 2 Tylenol. It broke several hours later. Then the sweats began the next morning. Then the chills again last night. They are still here this morning. Because i am so cold I am sleeping in layers of flannel which is accentuating the horrid rash on my chest, neck, and back. The heat seems to be bringing it out. The doctor's office said I could take an OTC allergy pill but that will make me sleepy and I want to keep alert during this crisis. So I am going back to the doctor this afternoon for him to take a look at me. I may give him a piece of my mind for prescribing this crap to people. On my long list of side effects from my pharmacy is the phone number to report side effects to the FDA. It is 1-800-FDA-1088. We suffering patients need to unite against this demon drug so it is eventually pulled off the market. I was given Sulfameth/Trimetrhoprim 800/160 tabs for 5 days, twice daily, for an UTI. My pill bottle also says MFG AMNEAL - Generic for Septra DS tablets. No refills. Who want want to? Good luck to all the suffers of this doomed drug. I had to lose a day from work today and probably will do so tomorrow. And I have to somehow get myself back to the doctor today to hopefully get some relief. And living alone makes it even scarier. Something has to be done about this drug.

I have been on Yasmin for 5 yrs now and was diagnosed with a heart condition at 16 yrs old and dealt with it for 2 years, I started have really bad cramps and going 2-3 months with no period and 2 months of straight bleeding! I came off of Yasmin (Yaz) 6 months ago and since then have come off my heart medication and have had no other problems with my heart. I changed from Yasmin to Ortho Tri Cyclin and have experienced severe cramping heavy bleeding and horrible low back pain! My dr just proscribed me Loestrin, I'm gonna try it at least anything can be better than having a period for 2 months straight and severe pain!! Anybody had problems like mine on OTC?

After reading all of the comments, I am embarrassed to say that I have taken omeprazole for the past 2 years. Originally, I began taking it for nausea from GERD. I began taking it soon after the death of my cousin (as I figured the anxiety from her death caused my stomach issues). I began to become depressed shortly after, which I also attributed to her death, financial issues, etc. However, when life got better I was still depressed and anxious. Two years passed and I still couldn't figure out why I felt so bad mentally. Not to mention I was mildly nauseous most of the time and NEVER had a normal appetite. I would only know it was time to eat when I felt faint. Light-headedness, stomach cramps and lethargy were also side-effects that I experienced almost daily. The worst part was that I didn't know if the nausea was caused by my stomach issues or by the omeprazole. It was obviously the omeprazole. About 2 months ago I switched to Prevacid which caused much less nausea but many of the other side effects were still there although a little less. I weened myself off completely (which I would recommend to anyone) and I actually feel like my old self again mentally and physically. I didn't realize how low my energy was until this last week that I've been off those meds. I'm actually HAPPY again, I WANT TO EAT something, I have ENERGY, and no light-headedness or stomach pain at all. It saddens me to think that I spent over the last 2 years feeling this way needlessly and thinking that I was crazy. There ARE other alternatives to acid reflux, GERD, etc out there that are much safer and more tolerable. If any of you are experiencing some of the symptoms that I or others have described, explore other options before you just "get used to" feeling like crap.

Has anyone had the itching? The horrible horrible itching like you want to peel your skin off in a not very pleasant area? My doctor started me on NuvaRing last Monday and ever since it's been like my skin is on fire. I took the ring out last Sunday, but am still itching sporadically. It's pretty unbearable. Any ideas on how to handle? Any help would be appreciated.

I started on the NuvaRing in April of this year, so this is my 4th month on it. The first month was great! I loved that I didn't have to think about it daily and my libido was through the roof! The only side effects: I noticed immediately that it increased my discharge, which was a little uncomfortable on a day-to-day basis but was very nice for making love. The discharge was also a whitish color, which threw me off because I'm used to it being clear but my doctor assured me that all was normal. Also, it would occasionally fall out during more passionate sex, which wasn't a big deal. I just washed it off with cold water and reinserted it. The second month, things seemed great until the last half of the month. I noticed that there wasn't as much discharge and I would get a slight burning sensation after sex. About a week later, I came down with a full blown yeast infection. I hadn't had a yeast infection in 10 years! I treated it with an OTC 3 day suppository, which seemed to help it a little. I removed the NuvaRing like normal and a few days later I started my period. Things seemed to go back to normal and a week went by without much problem. The middle of the 3rd month I was slammed full force with yet another (or the same) yeast infection, plus bacterial vaginosis as well. I asked the doctor about the NuvaRing and it possibly causing/aiding yeast infections. She assured me that it wasn't possible for the ring to cause infection. She gave me instructions on how to properly rinse it off in case it ever fell out again. She prescribed me 2 doses of Diflucan for the yeast and an antibiotic for the BV. I took both and afterward things seemed fine for another 2 weeks. This week, I noticed that I had a weird itchy feeling down there before bed and sure enough when I woke up in the morning it appeared I had another yeast infection. I called to make an appointment but the nurse just called back and prescribed me 2 more Diflucan pills and told me to give one to my partner. I asked again about the NuvaRing perhaps being an aid in the appearance of these infections and again she told me that it wasn't possible. At this point I am really confused. I don't know if I have a really bad yeast infection due to the ring or if my boyfriend and I are simply reinfecting each other. I also asked about whether I should discard this NuvaRing and start a new one after the infection clears up and got a very vague response of "it's your call". I really don't know whether to can the NuvaRing or keep going a little longer to see if this is all a big coincidence. I just think there isn't enough known about the NuvaRing...by my physician anyway. More side effects to note in the fourth month: weight gain, loss of sexual desire, vaginal dryness (the discharge was short-lived), irritability, crying fits. I'm just at a loss...I really wanted this to work for me...

I am on two 500 mg doses of cephalexin daily to help heal a bug bite..Still waiting for the biopsy to come back. Doctor suggested could be a brown spider bite. Definitely want to stop the skin deterioration and get the wound from where the bite was removed healed but the itching started on day 3 on my stomach and has now spread to entire torso, back, insides of arms and legs. I have tried aveeno baths, benadryl (knocks me out) and eucerin itch-relief. Today I coated my entire body with 1% hydrocortisone with little relief. HELP - I am scratching to the point of bleeding and now that I have read these other comments will NOT take another one of these pills. Any other OTC relief anyone has found?

I was prescribed phenazopyridine Tab 200mg, same as above, for the pain and burning associated with a UTI. I had been taking AZO that was working just fine, as with any OTC med. the mg was low. Because of such a high mg on the phenazopyridine it works much better. The only problem I am having is the swelling of my lips, the blisters on the edge of my lips and a sore in my mouth. It works soooooo good, and the reaction isn't all that bad, I am still deciding whether or not to finish the medication, after all I only have 3 more!!!

I had this thing placed in April of 2008. I was fine had minor cramping and went back for check up. everything was okay until January 2009 I got a yeast infection. I did an otc med and it went away for about 3 days. It came back with Avengeance not only did I have a yeast infection but it was accompanied with migrated arthralgia. I could hardly walk at one point on my right foot then it moved from my right hand to my left and has settled in to my right foot. I called my PCP and she gave me meds to treat and it went away for a month. I was told that if it came back with the arthralgia she was going to test me for lupus!!!! LUPUS I thought I was in a lot of trouble the next month because it came back. I have had 8 yeast infections in 6 months. Every time my husband and I have sex it feels like a rug burn and I get the infection back. I was told (when I finally thought to call) by my GYN that if you get yeast infection and it doesn't fully go away it can live on the strings and keep coming back. I was treated this last time with a vag cream insert and an oral med. I thought I was free and clear but two months later here I am again. I am going in to see my GYN/PCP to have this removed tomorrow she agrees that the mirena is the issue. I have had all these other symptoms thought mostly the weight issue I can't lose weight not matter how hard I work at it. I have facial swelling and have been very fatigued. Also be warned that you should not have this placed if you have history of endometriosis. I consulted as to why with one of the doc that i am a nurse for and she said that this can cause bleeding to be worse since endometrial tissue can attach anywhere in the body. I have endometriosis removed twice and I am not willing to take the risk of abn bleeding elsewhere I already have enough CRAP to deal with. I am sure that some women have had this and it hasn't been an issue. More power to you!! but for those of you who are suffering form this. You can file a formal complaint with the FDA I think if enough of us file complaints maybe will step back and take a closer look at the TRUE SE of this horrible device!!

I've been on OTC Lo now for about 2 months (2 weeks into 2nd pack). So far I like it. My face is starting to clear up and my mood swings (former effect of the nuvaring) are starting to go away. My sex drive is coming back (another thing taken by the nuvaring).. and I haven't gained any weight thus far. I have not had a period on it yet (skipping the placebos) but I don't feel like I will have any problems. I highly recommend this one.

Oh Oh after reading everybody's comments I'm not so sure if I should be on the NuvaRing. My OB suggested I use it to treat my hot flashes and irritability that I have, I'm 48 and had a partial hysterectomy but exercise, diet and all the OTC vitamins didn't help me cope with my hot flashes and irritability. Now I'm no so sure if NR is for me. Its only been a week still so I don't have any side effects yet.

I have had a total of 5 kenalog injections in my back for no disk left between two vertebrae, doc says fused naturally and no movement. I still have pain. I am scheduled to have yet another shot in the neck area, 5 bulging disks causing pain around the shoulder blade. I have less sciatic pain, but I have HEADACHES for the 3 months since the first shot, they don't go away. No OTC pain relief works for these headaches. The doc says the kenalog does NOT cause headaches, I know these guys lie or don't care about the FDA list of side effects. I am hesitant about getting another shot. He wanted me to have this one done under sedation, I declined, since I had the others without. He said more sensitive area and don't want you to flinch. I also get, I assume kenalog injections in both feet for morton's neuroma. Left foot shot worked. Right foot 3 shots and still hurts and numb, they can't seem to get it right. I am tired of getting the shots, and today I went to that pain management doctor and forgot to ask him how long can I expect the shots to help the pain, years? months? or weeks. I barely do anything anymore, afraid to bend, or even move. I had to go to ER first time for my back on 2/14/09 and sent to different docs and finally pain management. For those of you whose docs don't order an MRI for you, I wouldn't have the shot. I had and MRI of the back and neck and this doctor gives the shots while I lay on a fluoroscope table, I can see on the screen in front of me where the doctor is injecting. Hit and miss without an MRI is just not medically correct. Good luck to all and gonna think about whether to get another shot next Thurs.

I have been on it for a little over a year now and I love it. Mostly because I have no had a period since I started taking it. I was worried about it but the doctor said it's fine and I'm just lucky. I do not have any side effects that I can relate to the pill. I was on OTC-LO before and Loestrin works much better for me.

I had the mirena removed about a week ago and I already seriously feel better. I haven't felt that tired foggy feeling, haven't been depressed or angry. The first 3 days after removal I did get chills for a day. I also had a real heavy period which I hadn't had for a long time. I tell you what though I really do feel better and I know its just not wishful thinking. Sometimes I just sit quietly and relish in how good I feel. My size 10 shorts are falling around my hips because the bloating in my stomach has went down significantly. I can't explain it. I feel to be close to my husband again and welcome his touch. I knew that I would start to recover quickly . I've been through this with other birth control methods but was told that mirena had little to no side effects and was good for 5 years. I don't regret taking it out for one second. We are using a OTC b/c but at least we are needing to because before we weren't even having sex! My husband is so happy, but not as happy as I am........Did I just say that? "Yeah I'm happy!!!" Listen to your body. This thing isn't for everyone.

I had only been taking zyrtec for the past few months and ran out a few days ago and decided that i really didn't want to continue takin it i have been off of it for almost 3 days now and have started itching like crazy. Going off zyrtec was the only thing that had changed so i started researching it and found it is a common effect when quitting. I will never go back on it and am trying to get family and friends to quit taking it as well after seein all of the negative side effects and withdrawal problems. I'll be stickin with treating my allergies with OTC tylenol or advil sinus. Any help that zyrtec may have isn't worth all the negative points for me

I have extreme sensitivities to most meds. including OTC. Taking any medication is always risky for me. Usually fall into the 1% of people taking this drug developed......
I just started taking Lisinopril last night at bedtime, only a 5 mg. tablet, starting out at half a dose. Was so tired all day could barely stay awake. Also, extremely bloated gut, lots of pain and gas and a pulled-muscle sensation BEHIND my knees Had to walk with bent knees all day to lessen the pain. Can the muscle pain really start this rapidly? Also, anyone else have pain behind their knees or just cramps in calves. Was on 5 mg. of Norvasc daily.. Would rather indure the swollen ankles from that than repeat today's pain. Will take the lisinopril for total of a week. No improvements, back to Norvasc for me.

I have to say that with my previous experiences with a VARIETY of birth controls, OTC-LO is the best i have been on so far! The first birth control i was put on was Seasonale. Which sent me into days of bleeding and depression. I quickly changed to Femcom only to have extremely painful periods and headaches. After about 4 months of that i was put on Yaz. Which i must say was the WORST ever. Yaz gave me terrible mood swings, bouts of depression, fatigue and again painful periods. After 4 months of that i decided to try Ortho Tri Cylen (the regular not lo)..This started to give me dull aching pains in my arms and joints and the mood swings were terrible. I cried all the time. Ortho Tri Cylen Lo was my last hope for all birth control. Granted because of my mood swings while and a few days before i am on my period i was prescribed Zoloft. OTC Lo has not given me any side effects so far. In the beginning i had a lot of cramps but nothing like i had before. My periods are better and my sex life is unbelievable unlike the others which take your sex drive away, OTC-Lo dosent! If anything it has made me want sex more! My boyfriend is very pleased as am i! I recommend this birth control to any female who is having alot of issues with other birth controls. I am glad i tried it!!! Thanks for reading!

I was 42 when I started taking these pills (11/20/08). My periods were lasting me 7 days and I had severe cramps (not to mention having to sleep on a towel at night so I wouldn't mess up my sheets). The first month I started taking these pills, my period went down to 1 day and 1/2. Here's the bad part. I starting having yeast infections that OTC meds did not help. I was having to wear a mini pad everyday and every night. I got to where I'd cry at the drop of a hat, then I would get really aggravated at everything. I had NO sex drive. I finally stopped taking these and switched to Kariva 01/09. The yeast infection has stopped within 2 weeks. I know my period will be about 4 days now, but it's better than all that other stuff I was dealing with.

I just started Omeprazole two weeks ago and am having headaches, extreme blurred vision, upset stomach, gas and constipation. I was depressed all day today which is also unusual for me. I will be asking my doctor to take me off this drug - unfortunately I do need something to treat the acid reflux so I will be researching nexium.
Good luck to anyone who has to take this - oh and I too have had the nightmares and can't sleep.

I went to doctor for cold and she put me on lisinopril (10) and told me I had "pre hypertension. My bp runs 140/60. She told me she wanted it at 118/75. I laughed and told her mine would have to go up to get 75 as Ive never had it. She also gave me wellbutrin to see if that would help lower it as I have white coat syndrome. I am 73 yr old fm thats never had health problem. Within a month I had severe constipation and started taking benefiber, apple juice, extra brand etc.... no relief. I have now stopped the wellbutrin which I don't think I ever needed and dropped my lisinopril to (5). I may even drop that if I don't go back to normal. Next time I have a cold I will take OTC rather that go to dr.

It seems most people on here are blaming their "side effects" on the medicine. Could you quite possibly have health issues anyway? what about those people that don't take Singulair and have the exact same symptoms? Is it because they are THINKING about it?
It's one thing to be informed about medication. It's another to go overboard.

My 2.5 year old son was on this for a little over a week. We noticed him start to have rapid eye blinking and head twitching every other minute or so. Took him to ER, doctors said possible pink eye even though there was no redness or discharge in his eyes. Followed up with his pediatrician and was told no pink eye but possible reaction to Zyrtec and to discontinue the med. Also advised that it takes up to 6 weeks for medicines to be completely out of the system. Pediatrician is also scheduling appointment with neurologist in case this "tic" doesn't go away in a reasonable amount of time. I wish I'd known about this site and others prior to giving my son this medicine recommended by a doctor. There should be a warning label on every bottle of medicine both prescribed and otc to direct people to websites such as these or a 1-800 number to advise about any and all potential side effects.

1) Stop going to the doctor for "sinus infections". This is one of the most over diagnosed, over treated, self-limiting illnesses in the world. Because 90% is viral, it's also the leading cause of antibiotic resistant bacteria in out-patient medicine. Get some Afrin and blow your nose.
2) Avoid taking fluoroquinolones (Cipro, Levaquin, Avelox) as an outpatient. These powerful drugs should be used to save lives in the hospital. The leading exception would be a urinary tract infection that is resistant to all other antibiotics.
3) All fluoroquinolones can cause tendon ruptures, especially the achille's tendon in patients over 65. This is a devastating injury, though rare with this class of antibiotics.

I wrote a post few days ago about Singulair and how great my daughter is doing since she started to take this medication three months ago.
Then I started reading about all the side effects that other children had because of Singulair. I GOT SO SCARED!
So scared that last night I stopped giving Singulair to my daughter.
From January to September my daughter had asthma every other week. She was put on steroids (prednisolone) every time she couldn't breath. Then in September the pulmonologist said we have to take control of the situation because so much steroids can damage a little body.
She made me feel I had been a terrible mothers since I always refused to give her singulair.
She convinced me and then I started Singulair, but now I feel worst because I have the feeling I am giving poison to my daughter even if her asthma is under control.
My 7 years old stopped Singulair 12 hours ago, I do not know what is going to happen now. Of course I cannot call the pulmonologist anymore in case my ds gets bad.
Somebody here said that she is giving her son Nordic Naturals Fish Oil, Culturelle probiotics, vitamin c, and changing his diet - increased magnesium and decreased dairy.I will love to have more information about this alternative way of controlling asthma. I do not remember who wrote this post. If there is a web site of a doctor I can contact i will do right away. I live in New York.
I need help. Thank you so much.

I am taking omeprezole & blood pressure medication & am having muscle cramps in my legs & feet mostly, but even in my chest (Thought I was having a heart attack).I am experiencing severe fatigue & like one of the previous posts, I'm having difficulty even holding the steering wheel of my truck. It's difficult for me to stay awake ,especially if I relax for more than 5 minutes.I assumed it was the blood pressure meds, & stopped taking them recently to see if that would help.(It didn't) I'm going to stop all synthetic meds ASAP & hope for recovery.I've been taking these for 3 years & am experiencing many of the same symptoms as other posts, including swollen breasts (I'm a male)...THANK GOD FOR THIS SITE!!! I'll keep you posted on my progress. Best to all fellow sufferers.P.S: My doctor thinks I have more symptoms than "a 90 year old lady" (I'm 54)God Bless, & I'm praying for you all.
