I have had mirena since Mar 07 and I also have pain during intercourse, sharp pains in my pelvic area, my face started breaking out (never had ache) and horrible discharge gummy and clear. Has anyone else experienced the discharge. It is so uncomfortable for me I do not want to have intercourse with my husband of 6 years. I think I will have this removed on my 8/25 appointment. Any advice in regards to the discharge would be great. Thanks!

I am on my first month of taking this pill. I am on the last brown pills I only have two brown pills left and no period, despite the fact that I am sexually active I just do not think I am preg. we use condoms EVERY time and also pull out while using condoms so i just don't see it... also i feel like I have gained about 3 pounds nothing huge, but enough to make me feel like a fatty. I just switched to this pill after 4 months on yaz, but I had spotting and long painful periods on that. The gyn gave me a month of femconFE and then prescribed me ovcon 35 and said it's the same but some of you ladies said it's not so I am only hoping for something different. I feel very sore and headaches and I cry much more than I used to. I am normally not the type of person to cry but i just have been getting too emotional over nothing, I am definitely thinking it's this pill so i will be on Ovcon 35 in 2 days I am hoping for something better.

These posts do help a lot! I was looking at these because I am also on LOESTRIN 24 FE and have been for about 3 months and after having a very light but normal period, I had heavier bleeding and cramping during the first week of the white pills as well! I do like these pills because of the short period and little cramping but I have experienced some PMS symptoms like irritability and moodiness...I cry right before my period and that gets annoying for me and my boyfriend but I think every pill will have its own side affects. I switched to this pill because I was on OVCON 35 and have had terrible migraines for about 5 years until I figured out it was all the estrogen in my pills. After switching I haven't had a single migraine! MIRACLE!!!!! but I like this pill for the most part!

If you used to take Ovcon 35 and your doctors claims that Femcon Fe is the new Ovcon....they're lying! My doctor told me that for the past year and I just went to the pharmacy to get my new prescription of Ovcon 35! It does exist if you still want it :) I can't wait to start my new pack! I can't been on this pill in over a year thanks to insurance/doctors pushing the generic at me.

I have been off birth control for over a year and started Loestrin 24 Fe last week. I never search medicine boards or leave posts but I did some research and found that most of you are experiencing the same effects as me. I don't gain weight ever and feel extremely heavy right now, my breasts are popping out of my bra and I am extremely moody, depressed, sleepy, feeling dehydrated and I'm breaking out. Thank god its from the pill and I'm not really getting fat and crazy. Does anyone know if I can just stop taking the pill now or if I should finish this pack (though I'm scared these side effects won't go away until then). Please let me know.
I will say that I used to take Ovcon 35 which was great...I never gained any weight, felt anxious nor did I get acne. It's a wonderful pill and I think I will switch back to it. Most docs don't prescribe it because I don't think there is a generic form.

I'm so glad that I found this site, I am on my second week of Femcon Fe after finally filling my prescription from three months ago because I was terrified of potential side effects...and what do you know, they came! I am so nauseous, everything makes my stomach hurt, I am more emotional, I wake up feeling sick, I have terrible cramping, I have been "spotting" for 3 days straight even though I am only on week 2, I have gained weight, and I have a major loss of energy, not to mention I am really crabby and irritable - all of the symptoms were not present two weeks ago before I started the pill - not to mention I am not typically an emotional person. I used to take Ovcon 35 (Femcon's old drug) and loved it - absolutely NO side effects....Calling my doctor today, looks like a lot of us are in the same boat. Yikes!

Hello,
I was on Yasmine for 2 years and I have been off of Yasmine for 4 weeks. I had a fast heartbeat while on it and it has become worse lately. I also feel nervous and exhausted, but can't sleep very well. My blood pressure is also elevated sometimes (never had high blood pressure before this pill).
I also had bad stomach aches while on it and started to react to certain things (like eggs) I had never ever had a problem with. All kinds of intestinal complaints but of course the doctor says it is IBS - I wonder if it is the progestin that messes me up so bad. It is so strange. I want to get healthy again but feel really crummy right now, don't want to stand up to long, but try to keep going and doing chores etc, feel like I will pass out and takes a long time to recover from it. Could it bring on the symptoms of Chronic Fatigue or problems with blood pressure on standing???
The fast heartbeat is bugging me. I had an EKG and a sonogram of my heart, stress test 3 years ago and everything was normal (for chest pain while on Ovcon 35).
I hate this and wish I could get well. I've tried magnesium and B vitamins, sometimes I feel more wired-exhausted. This is weird but when I used to get that weird gnawing/stomach hunger while on it I would use baking soda/water to calm down my stomach, this seemed to help some of the other symptoms too??? Maybe sodium is off???
This is really driving me crazy. I have a microbiology degree so I understand a bit about the medical side of this drug but I don't feel like it was researched/tested thoroughly before it was sent out for human consumption!

Honestly, i have nothing to complain about.
I'm 19 years old, and i started using birth control at 18. My first birth control pills were Ovcon-35. They left me feeling terrible. Depressed. My whole body ached, i couldnt move. My sex drive was non existant.. my period was off. i was getting it every 3rd week and it would stay for 14 days. Then i began getting yeast infections every 3rd week. i went to the doctor and was prescribed Aviane. These pills have made verything improve. I am able to become self-lubricated. my orgasms are more intense, i have no more depression. i want sex constantly.. my breasts are tender before my period, but for me, that is how it has always been.
I think that everyone is different. If Aviane is your first birth control pill, it may just be that. Ovcon-35 was my first, and i hate it with a passion.
As with everything, people react differently to different hormones, and chemicals. I think doctors need to look deeper into their patients backgrounds. it's a shame things like this are over looked.

My doctor switched me to Ovcon 35 after I was spotting two weeks before my period on Estrostep. This is my second month on Ovcon 35 and both of these months I have had brown dishcharge spotting with lots of dark clots starting with the second week of my pack like the Estrostep. I have had no weight gain yet (X fingers crossed that I wont ever) have had nausea however which may or may not be related. My breasts also get very sore about the same time that the spotting starts in the second week and this lasts through my period, which is not much of a period, it is exactly like the spotting except it turns to red blood. ??? My yearly is next month, but I dont know if I want to change to higher dosages of hormones because I've gained weight on them before.

Ok..I took Yasmin for about a year and didn't really have any side effects. But about 2-3 months ago I switched to Ovcon 35 and absolutely loved it!! But I ran out of the Ovcon about 3 weeks ago and still had a pack of Yasmin...so I started it.. that way I wouldn't be without birth control...and I am into my 3rd week of Yasmin and I feel ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! My breasts are swollen and very tender ( as if I were pregnant ) and I keep having these on and off cramps in my lower abdomin...as if I were about to start my period!!! I don't understand it all really and it's kind of scary in a way...because I felt this way the first 2 times I was pregnant...( with these pains and all ). But the funny thing is I had my period about 2 weeks ago...so there is no way I could be pregnant!! I am also having the feeling like I'm not even here...kind of like I am just a zombie!! The feeling of everything just being strange in general...like nothing is going right!! I am super sleepy all the time...easily aggrivated...very emotional...sick on my stomach and I hate to say it...but my insides have been really tore up!! And all of those things are not how I was while I was taking the Ovcon!! I am also constantly feeling thirsty...and having the feeling that I have to pee...ALOT!!! It's all crazy to me...and I have 13 pills left in this pack of the Yasmin....and after these...I am NEVER EVER GOIN BACK ON THIS PILL!! To anyone who reads this in search of what we are all on this page doing....PLEASE DON'T CONSIDER YASMIN....IT'S THE WORST BIRTH CONTROL EVER INVENTED!!

My doctor prescribed this pill to me for dysmennorhea, like its supposed to help? The side effects are terrible. I don't think I can stay on this pill. :(

I don't think I'm pregnant, as i haven't missed any pills, just don't know what to think. I do/have cramps and breast tenderness though. Anyone else having these symptoms?

I did not like the ring at all! I was on the patch (loved it) for a 1 1/2 years and did not have any problems until the end I started having headachs. So I started the ring, talk about acting crazy! I was crying all the time for no reason, had cramps so bad I had to stop what I was doing until it past, had cramps all the time, my periods lasted a week and half, and NO SEX DRIVE at all! I am now starting ovcon-35. I hope it does better for me. Good luck to anyone on the ring and I hope you don't have any of the problems I did.

I was prescribed Ovcon 35 for ongoing bleeding associated with endometriosis. I have had the mild headaches, EXTREMELY tender and bloated breasts and stomach upset others have described but can live with it. One of my concerns is that even WITH endometriosis, I have never really experienced bad cramps. After being on this for only three weeks, my cramps are really pretty bad. Secondly, I have gained three to four pounds. I am willing to stay on this and see if my body adjusts. It has helped my bleeding tremendously (so far) and I have not had the PMS symptoms I typically do. My main concern is the weight gain. Does your body adjust to it and the side effects lessen over time? I can stand just about anything but the weight gain. Oh, and by the way...I have been on a few different birth control pills for close to 20 years and have NEVER had side effects until this one.

switched to ovcon-35 last month... i had taken yasmin(with no problems other than some dryness!) for 2 1/2 years prior to this... i had a period, started ovcon on sunday start... i then had 9 days free of bleeding and then started bleeding AGAIN! I have now officially been bleeding for 11 days with no end in sight. i am also strangely hyper-emotional and feel bloated... i called my doc and asked to switch back to yasmin! i cant wait to feel normal again!

One other thing that I realize while reading these comments is that every women is different. We are all gonna have different symptoms and effects from this pill or any pill. If the symptoms are really serious that is one thing, but I think some of these people are looking for things to go wrong! You have to give it a chance. I've been on and off Ovcon 35 for 3 years and I've had minimal problems.

And i am always so tired i can sleep for 10 hours and still not want to get up in the morning. And one side after that i just learned of today is a lower sex drive! ya i would say lower i dont have one! I just blamed it on being a new mom and as i said just learned today that this is a side effect. I also can't lose any of this weight from my son and seem to just keep gaining more! This pills sucks and it didnt even regulate me! I am going o back to ortho-tri-cyclin

37 yrs old - Tried OVCON 35 for bc before and ivf cycle and the first 2 wks are pure hell. Just call me Cybil. The anxiety is brutal, chest tightening and just can't function in my daily activities. In second week and now I have severe bloating and brown spotting. Uncomfortable around the ovaries - something is definitely wrong with choosing this method of birth control.

I was on Ovcon 50 for endometriosis. I always had dull cramps, but when I switched to the generic Necon 1/50 because it was a cheaper co-pay. I felt waaay better on the Necon-no pain, finally! But since Necon has been discontinued, the last 3 months, I was switched back to Ovcon 50. The continual dull pain I experienced before came back. If I take Ovcon a few hours late, the cramps are terrible! Also, I am very depressed and have gained weight. I discovered Ovcon depletes Vitamin B. I wish I had known that earlier, because I would have started taking B supplements. When I asked my doctor, first she said it was all in my head(the pain, that is). Thankfully she looked into it more and she found that even though the estrogen level is the same, I am actually getting more estrogen because of how my body processes the type of estrogen it is. She said estrogen is not good for my endometriosis. I am going to try Zenchent, which is a generic for Ovcon 35. It has lower estrogen. Hopefully it works!
