I have been taking perocect 10's for the last 1yr or so and it is very bad when I don't have them I feel like crap. When taking just one it is like taking 3more 10 min later cause it does not work as well from when I first started taking them. When I run out I am looking for them everywhere and taking other pain meds to cover the withdrawals. Man it is so bad feeling like that the runny noise, sweating, being angry, shaking, throwing up,shiting my guts out etc. I have a chronic back problem and I'm only 24yrs old. I have a very supporting husband who is there for me when I'm withdrawing all the time and I love him for that cause if it was any other man they would of left me hanging. I advice anyone who starts this pain killer to only take it when needed cause the chemical in the pill will mess your who life up and you will have some serious problems for realist is true but how I'm going to stop I will take a week out of my life to go to the hospital for help. Also there is so many other medication that can make you sleep.(PEROCECT'S WILL MESS UP YOUR LIFE SO DON'T GO DOWN THAT ROAD, PLEASE TAKE THIS MESSAGE SERIOUS THEY ARE VERY BAD, DON'T COVER UP THE PAIN GET IT TAKING CARE OF AND IF THE DOCTOR GIVES THE PEROCECT'S TO YOU DON'T TAKE IT CAUSE THEY DON'T CARE IT IS NOT THEM PLEASE DON'T).

I am 43 yrs. old and have had 2 back surgeries and other procedures to help elevate my pain, but to no avail. I am now on 60 mg of oxycontin and dilaudid for pain which seem to be finally making a difference. And for some reason my doctor has put me on zanaflex also. I took one dose and I don't know if I wasn't to continue, last night was the first dose and I had a strange feeling as I was falling sleep that I was going to die!!! As I tried to wake myself up out of the drowsiness it subsided and I fell asleep. When I woke up I remembered having strange dreams about my mother and my brother both who has passed away in the past 2 1/2 years. I mean really bizarre dreams that make no sense. I believe it to be because of the zanaflex. Does anyone else have these problems??

My healthy, active 55 yr old husband of 30 yrs was prescribed SIMVASTATIN in Aug. of last year. He started having pains in his legs & back and had an appointment in Oct. with the dr. to check on how he was doing with the new drug. When he went in to the office, he was having terrible pains in his chest, legs & back. The dr. immediately called 911 thinking he was having a heart attack. He was in the hospital for a week while they ran a multitude of tests. All came back clear for his heart. He kept telling the dr. that the back & leg pains were still there. They didn't seem to be concerned about anything except his heart. He was dismissed continuing to have pain. The pain steadly increased over his whole body, then in Feb. of this year, he suffered a major seizure and spent another week in the hospital. This time they wrote it off as epilepsy and put him on anti-seziure pills. After he was released, the symptoms increased, his memory, vision & balance are all effected, he has chest pains, depression, and is in constant pain. He's been sent for numerous MRI's, bone scans, blood tests, etc. He has been to neurologists, neurosurgeons, chiropractors, physical therapists, etc. The entire time, his health has declined because he was being poisoned by Simvastatin. Finally, after doing our own research, we found a neurologist that recognized the problem. He told us that this drug distroys muscle tissue and that the damage may be irreversible. My husband can no longer work, drive, or enjoy life. He walks without a cane or walker, and depends on pain pills because the pain is so severe. He stays in bed most of the time due to the pain and lack of energy. He has been off Simvastatin for a week now with no change. We are hoping & praying for improvement over time. PLEASE, if you are your loved one are taking this drug-STOP IMMEDIATELY. The results can be devastating. I can't imagine why the FDA would approve a drug like this that destroys quality of life.

Frantee, I was a near fatal victim of statins. A few weeks ago I met a fit 70 yr old retired builder customer, who was wreaked in pain, couldn't walk to his letterbox or stay awake or do weeze etc etc. I gave him the Medsafe (New Zealand government) print out of statin adverse effects. He and his wife then knew without doubt that it was his statins killing him. They went to their doctor who put the fear of God into them "if you stop taking this medicine (statins) you could well have a heart attack or stoke and die" this fellow's golden years are painfully and avoidably ruined, end of story. This is despite Medsafe telling all doctors in NZ "... if a patient presents unexplained muscle weakness or pain to cease the medicine immediately" Undisputably criminal negligence. Like yourself I have been blackmailed, when I've gotten a bit niggly with my GP I get very very scared that my supply of oxycontin will be cut off. If I were to loose my pain killer any time in the last 14 months I would definitely have suicide out,at the worst I could not walk 500 metres without pain killer even with the medicine I came very close to suicide a couple of times. The only solution for survival is to have your blood tests etc done with your doctor, accept the prescriptions, agree with everything he says then study or visit a qualified natural path before taking medicine. There is currently major dissention at Harvard medical school where the medical students are saying "the information we are receiving is not at "pure" as it should be in such a "protected" environment. It seems like the pharmaceutical finance structure, stocks, bonds, shares debentures etc is in the top 3 or 4 finance structures on the planet. We've seen oil cause war and the largest frauds of all times in the financial banking sector I have no doubt the largest and cruelest genocidal crime has yet to be fully exposed. help yourself and help others, best for your recovery.

Very high tolerance for medications incl 60mg morphine, 20mg oxycontin 4x day, however, I just cannot seem to tolerate Fentanyl. Have tried it two times in past, both the 25mcg and 50mcg. The first week or so is great, after that the side effects are more than I can tolerate. All of these side effects were extreme and unbearable not just mild. They affected my ability to function and sent me to bed on more than one occasion. Extreme fatigue, nausea, sweating, anxiety and weakness. I felt as though I had a very bad case of the stomach flu. Both occasions I stuck it out for 2-4 weeks till I finally had to quit using it. Any suggestions as to why would appreciated. Some of my side effects aren't even listed in brochure.

I was prescribed Zocor for high cholesterol. Almost immediately I began to experience body aches -- some days more severe than others. I would take ibuprofen and it would help. Then, I started getting a pretty strong pain on my hip which radiated down my leg onto my foot. The pain was so severe, even the Motrin 800 mg. pills didn't help it. I am 53 years old, but I felt like a 90 year old. I had problems walking, especially after sitting for an hour or so. I had problems with stairs. Even laying down was painful. I tried heating pads, ointments, etc. When I told my doctor about it, she said that this was a typical side effect of statins, and that because I am diabetic, I need to continue taking Zocor to keep my cholesterol down. Just the other day, I stopped taking Zocor for 3 glorious days and guess what? NO pain!!! I resumed it because my doctor insists that I stay on it, but I wish there was something else I could take that wouldn't cause pain.

I am a 60 yr. old woman and was on simvastatin for several years before I realized that all of my aches, pains, and muscle weakness could be because of it. I stopped taking it in March, and had very little improvement until June when I started taking 100 mg CoQ10 twice a day. I am now pretty much pain free but the muscles in my thighs are still very weak, and I am still very fatigued. Anybody have any suggestions?

I am a 54 year old male who started taking Lipitor about 4 years ago. It seemed OK at first, but over the next several years I began to have increasing amounts of joint pain after exercise. Nor muscle pain, joint pain. And it seemed to be a result of exercise. By the time I stopped it, I was hurting after everything, not just exercise. I felt better within the first two weeks, but it took about 4 months for me to be able to exercise vigorously again. Over the years I seemed to have forgotten how much vitality I used to have. I am a physician, and because of the long lag time until I felt better, I wondered whether improvement might have related to other factors, so after about 5 months I decided to restart Lipitor. It surprised me that after just one dose, I got back all of the joint pain and fatigue when I was at my worst on Lipitor. I was really hurting. Needless to say, I didn't take any more.

Coincidentally, a physician friend of mine who had statin induced polyneuropathy had a similar experience. After his symptoms went away he found that after only one dose the entire polyneuropathy came back.

Stopping and restarting the drug is a way to test the correlation between the drug and the side effect. For such a large spectrum of side effects to recur after only a single dose, it argues that the problems that my friend and I had was due to some sort of immune memory response. I have not seen this in the medical literature.

I am off it now for about 8 months and am able to comfortably play singles tennis and jog - much more energy (and I took 200 mg of CoQ10 a day with the Lipitor).

I started using lipitor from my doctor, it lowered my cholesterol all around but I started to have lower back pains. At first I thought it might be prostate cancer, but after having to MRI's done they found no cancer, thank god. But I went to an orthopedic surgeon to see what the problem was. He looked at the mri's and saw lower dics hitting my nerve endings. He also thought that it might be muscle problems so he gave me 3 epidurals and that helped for a while took away about 50% of my pain, but I still have the pain, It is hard for me to get comfortable when I sit or even when I am sleeping. I don't want to think that it is the lipitor that is doing it to me but after talking with others I feel it is time to talk to my doctor about it. My doctor said that lipitor is the safest one that will do very little harm to my liver. I am not a doctor so I would not know.. My cholesterol level was 246 at one time now it is 175. I am now facing possible spine fusion to help correct my disc problem. But will also ask doctor to prescribe something else.

On lipitor for 1 1/2 years.... starting taking yoga a month ago. Had ache in knee and leg which then went to toe on other leg. Thought it was overstretching from yoga. Pain moved to hips and lower back. All very painful but worst was yet to come. Pain moved to neck and shoulders. Could not move head. Excruciating SOBBING pain. I was in so much pain for weekend. Everyone wanted me to go to emergency room but I wanted to stick it out til Monday.

PS... went on web. Saw this is lipitor side effect. never would have expected that after 1 1/2 yrs on a 10 mg dose.

Went to pain management doctor ... got Soma (muscle relaxant), an oral steroid and Percoset. Relief was almost instant.

Called my cardiologist. He says it is the Lipitor.

No more statins for me.
And back to yoga.

I have been taking 160milligrams a day for almost a year. After a serious accident in '99 that left me Partially Paralyzed and been on all kinds of pain meds...hate them all. Especially the Oxycontin. The Methadone has been a life saver. I am a productive, well-adjusted member of society....instead of a junky needing another OC. Take it like your supposed to Kiddies and the rest of us won't have the magnifying glass on us for no reason. Eat right and you won't "Gain Weight or be constipate." Just like regular Folk.... Duh.

I took Vicodin a couple of years ago for severe back pain. Since my accident three years ago I have taken Vicodin, Percocet, Morphine Sulphate and Oxycontin. Believe it or not the only one that I got addicted to was the Vicodin. I went through withdrawal symtoms one weekend when I ran out of it and my wife was holding me in her arms all night long like I was a heroin addict or something. It works but BE CAREFUL!

I have a prescription for topamax now for 3 weeks and I have been scared to death to start it just because of the side effects of nurontin. Those were nothing compared to what I have been reading for topamax!! I have badly damaged nerves, plus I take many other meds such as oxycontin, norco, soma, baclofen, phernergan, levid and xanax. I am waiting on my nuro doc to tell me if taking topamax is ok. My memory is my life....I have a great ability to multitask about 12 things at once and do them all at 100% and have a memory like an elephant...I dont want to lose that and from what I have read, topamax will do it to me. I can handle the nausea and anxiety because I have meds for that. I wear strong glasses already because of my bad eyesight...I am afraid of making it worse. Please give me your opinions. I have a home to take care of and a husband and 2 young daughters...my husband does so much for me and the thought of this drug making me hate him or treat him bad is more than I can handle. He does it all for me, get me out of bed, take me to the bathroom, get me dressed sometimes..I am scared. Someone please give me some advice.

no side effects what so ever if u take it like ur supposed to.
people that take to much or mix it with xanax or downers r asking to die. i just wish methadone would not get such a bad reputation over idiots who dont use it corretly.iv been on it 2 years and am only on 80 milligrams a day and that satisfies someone who was on 160 milli. of oxycontin a day for 5 years.
so if methadone doest work for u dont take it, but dont cause problems for people who it actually helps!!!!!!!

JanK, I thank you so much for your answers!and to everyone who has posted too! after all the reading I am going to request that my Dr.does NOT put me on the Neruontin (unless he has some serious reasons)after my surgery I will be very IN-Active and blood clots are always a factor,I have had 3 back surgeries before so I am not a stranger to that!In response to
The Vicodin I am taking,it does keep the pain under control as much as it can...I have so much going on in there that there is no pain med out there that can control it completly,I REFUSE to take Oxycontin or Ms Contin for it.I have a VERY good Physician and he monitors everything very carefully,I am not worried about him at all,God bless him,he has literally saved my life several times over!I will ask him next week at my appointment why he is leaning towards this med and go head to head with him...lol..thanks for the info!...I will post with the answer,in hopes to help someone with a similiar problem.~Nanc~
