my 85 yr old father had a slight heart attack recently. they put in a stent and a pace maker and sent him home with a slew of prescriptions- lipitor, plavix for 4 weeks, 2 BP meds, nexium for his daily baby aspirin.
he decided to only take the baby aspirin and a licorice supplement i gave him to protect his stomach instead of the nexium.
his doctor talked him into taking plavix for 14 days but he gave up on lipitor. he knew dad would never take it.

anyway, i talked to dad tonight and he stopped taking plavix after just 9 days. he didn't like the way it made him feel. he said it made him tired. he felt great before he started taking it and he's feeling better now that he's stopped

I had a severe upper respiratory infection and regular well known antibiotics wouldn't kick it. I went back to the physician who prescribed Avelox. Within less than 2 minutes of taking the first pill out of the bottle I started getting sensations of bee's stinging my tongue everywhere and my lips were tight, purple and swollen. Within just minutes I started having a hard time breathing and the whites of my eyes were really bloody. Next thing I knew I could literally feel and hear my heart beat in my ears and everything sounded like I was in a tunnel. Within 5 minutes of taking the pill an ambulance was called and by the time they arrived my blood pressure was 70/16 with over 240 pulse.

When I got to the ER they said I wasn't the only one with the same issue to this drug and 3 were within the week prior to my being there. When I said I had SVT Supra Ventricular Tachycardia the doctor said people with SA Node (Natural pace maker of the heart) issues which control the magnetic aspect of your heart biting it sends something in there to screw it up and make it a big mess. I wouldn't suggest this med to anyone as I did some other research on it through the web and their reports from the FDA and there were some pretty NASTY side and long term effects of it.

Needless to say; since this happened I've developed a panic disorder and my nervous system isn't working correctly. Again; be careful what you take.

My daughter had her 2nd shot in August, 2008, she started having problems November 10, 2008.Since then, she passes out at least 5 to 6 times a month, she has Bradycardia, arythmias, vagal vasal syncope, and Heart Block. She has been in and out of hospitals. The only answer to fix this is a Pace Maker. Shes 18 years old, cannot drive, go onto college (at this time). She could not even go to her graduation ceremony because she was passed out in the bathroom and wouldn't wake up. I cannot find one doctor to connect this to Gardasil, I wonder why it cannot be traced back to the shot. I would love to voice my opinion to the public about her experience since this shot. Out of all the doctors that see her, not a single one can explain why this is happening to her heart, they say she is a difficult but interesting case.

*********************READ THIS TO FIND HELP*************************
********************************************************************************
My daughter suffered severe side effects from the Gardasil vaccine - pneumonia, dehydration, etc. etc. The lots with "X" and "U" are causing the most problems. You need to detox your body from the aluminum that was in the vaccine. Please take special precautions if you had the above lot numbers (check with your doctor who administered).
Please read my posting on How to Detox from Gardasil on questions tab. This will help you. File a VAERS report immediately and call your doctor to let them know you are POSITIVE your illness is from the vaccine.
Several people are working on getting this off the market - but please write your congressman or senator to ask that they help. This is the only way to stop this! Also ... tell EVERYONE you know that this vaccine and others with aluminum are NOT safe!

My 13 year old daughter had her third shot on 02/16/09. Her first two shots did not seem to be a problem. She said her arm hurt really badly after the shot, and the next day she complained of leg pains she hadn't had before. Within a few days, she had a high fever with body aches like the flu, except it wasn't the flu. She felt better, but a week later she still had a low grade fever. She was tested and had strep throat, and was treated with anti-biotics. A week later she started having stomach cramps and diarrhea. It's now March 18th and she still has diarrhea. I think it's criminal this vaccination is being given to our young women. How on earth could anyone think "possibly" preventing HPV and/or cervical cancer is worth the risk of what my daughter and so many others are having to go through?

My mother was on Levaquin, 500 mb orally, once per day. This was the only new drug that she was prescribed. After several days, she began to develop numerous small sores inside her mouth, especially inside her lips. She also developed increasing difficulty swallowing. While she seemed to have increasing energy in the mornings, after taking the pill she became lethargic and felt exhausted. At our insistence, the drug was discontinued however the following night she developed cardiac difficulties, requiring a pace maker and died on the third day of respiratory arrest. She was 86 and active with no history of any of these symptoms or conditions prior to receiving Levaquin. Levaquin may be a fine drug, but the health care providers need to monitor much more closely for side effects.

I am 67 yo male. have had angioplasties, 2 way by pass , right carotid cleaned out, aterial fibrulation , pacemaker ,have had tinnitus most of my adult life and take many meds. My cardiologist put me on lisinopril again (don't remember why it was discontinued before). Thanks to this site I am understanding the unusual things going on with my body. Sweats, blood red face, terrible ringing in ears, sweaty stinky feet/ jock rash, cough, stuffed up sinus, runny nose, and the heavy chest, shortness of breath and chest pain. After taking this med for 2 weeks had scheduled pace maker check up and mentioned symptoms. Tech ignored my concerns. Will call my pcp tomorrow and get the low down.

Since my daughter second gardasil shot she has become tired all the time, she passed out on November 10 and was taken to the doctor. She orderd an EKG, chest xray and blood work. They called me that night and said she has an irregular slow heart beat ( which she has never had before). We went to a heart specialist the next day, he did an echo cardiogram and said things looked fine. If she passed out again, for me to call him and he sent us on our way. Tonight, while she was walking at work, it happend again. We went to E.R. and basically were told to follow up with her doctors on Monday. She is supposed to get the third shot in December, now i am afraid for her to get it. Im wondering if her suddenly getting the slow irregular heart beat, and passing out, irregular period, and headache is connected to the Gardasil. She is 17 and a senior in High School, she was planning on going to college, but now she is afraid to be alone, drive, or do anything that typical teenagers do.

Have been on Simvastatin since May 2007. Have experienced debilitating headaches every day for the first three months, neck and shoulder pain, lower back pain, tiredness to the point of having to stop what I am doing and go to bed and am wondering now whether any other female taking Simvastatin has experienced a burning sensation when passing very hot water and extremely uncomfortable and painful sex.

I also started taking Welchol, two in the morning and two in the evening. I started noticing that I can not get an erection, and I know it's the medication. Can someone out there tell me if i am the only one or is someone else having this problem due to Welchol?

I am a 45 yr old female and I have been on Vytorin for about 2 yrs or so for my cholesterol problems. Was on Lipitor before that and was getting leg pain so I stopped taking it. When blood work time came around it was still up so my doc put me on Vytorin. I have noticed that I feel like I'm dying. I have severe neck, back and arm pain, cold and hot attacks, can't sleep, chest pain, blurred vision, sudden stomach cramps, nausea, throat and ear aches, and bad stomach problems. I have had heart cath, ekgs, endoscopy, blood work and everything keeps coming back normal. Matter of fact, I went to the heart doc today and he put me on a 24 hour monitor and for low heart rate that has gradually gotten worse over the past few months. He even mentioned a pace maker. I don't even want to start about the depression and anxiety attacks that I have. They are AWFUL. But the more blogs that I have read, I think I know where the problem may lye. The Vytorin, so as of tonight I will NOT take another one..I just hope that there is no permanent damage done as far as my liver. I hope you all the best and I will let you know how I start to feel in the next few days...

OK FOLKS -HERE'S A GOOD ONE FOR YA- Just over a year ago I was on a heart transplant list. Today my heart function is normal and I am off ALL HEART MEDS. Even after finding out my heart function level was normal I was still living a nightmare for some unexplained reason. After MONTHS of tests and everyone telling me I was nuts a neurologist finally found out I was having seizure activity. Funny how my "seizure activity" feels EXACTLY how I felt when they increased my beta blocker dosage. I'm telling all of you.. This beta blocker helps some but they are burying their mistakes. I now know all of my ER trips, only to have them laugh and have them send me back home, were do to seizures caused by beta blockers while I had heart failure. I'm lucky to be alive.... and now that my heart function is good I have to fight this seizure BS. *REMEMBER THIS - Only YOU know what your body is telling you.. LISTEN TO IT! But do be careful.. You can't just stop taking a beta blocker.. Good luck all cuz we sure need it!

MY mother of 73, who was just put on lisinopril and had a pace maker put in do to heart rate of 38per minute. She was also coded and we were kicked out of the room when her heart rate dropped past 7. A emergency pace maker was put in ...then her permanent one followed 2 days later. She was released from the hospital on Sat. the 21st and since she has been home, she cant sleep properly and when she does she wakes up gasping for air. Could this be a cause of the drug? lack of the oxygen that she was on in the hospital? We have put a call into the doctor, but still haven't heard a replay....wondering if anyone can give us some info...Thanks

Folks, Lipitor is the most widely prescribed drug. People are blaming their various problems on lipitor. They should see the appropriate specialist to address their specific symptoms vs self-diagnosing and blaming it on lipitor.

Went to the doc's with a bad deep cough had for about a week. I was prescribed an antibiotic, eye drop, and an antihistamine. Went to local drug store found out insurance would not pay for antihistamine because it was the same thing as OTC Zyrtec and that the drug store had a generic brand which was cheaper. Started taking it on a fri. night all went well until the following Thur. night at work. Arrived at work normal time then roughly one hour into my shift I notice sweating, dizzy, and not aware of my surroundings, when suddenly I found myself passed out on a hard concrete floor flopping like a fish out of water. Taken to ER were they performed CAT scan, MRI, and very painful spinal tap.
All came back clear. After a stay in the hospital fri I was looking forward to being discharged sat morning when all of sudden it happen once again. In fact it happen three times sat. What was it you ask? My heart had STOPPED first time 5 seconds, second time 11 seconds, and the third time with my Wife watching my heart stopped for a full 18 seconds. Awoke to the sights of several Nurse's with difb in hand ready to shock me back. Rushed to ICU my heart than began racing to 170 – 180 beats a min. had to get med’s. to slow it down. Was schd for a pace maker. Final diagnosis ZYRTEC! The hospital Doc., Cardiologist as well as my PCP agreed.

Within 5 days of beginning course of Geodon, 40mg daily, doc doubled my dosage to 80mg, began to have problems. Intensely manic, easily frightened, insomnia, terrifying dreams. I decided to get out of hospital ASAP and decide if to quit taking Geodon.
On day six already my face was twitching, was irritable and manic, pacing, increasingly manic throughout day, decided to skip evening dose, keep total dosage same as before, 40mg. Began tripping around midnight and it was all downhill from there. Sleepless all night, by morning I had convulsions, increased heart rate, fear and anxiety, psychosis, uncontrollable crying. Had another seizure 12 hours later. Slept a little with help of Valium. Next day developed Parkinson's like symptoms, had my father not been there to help me, Lord knows what would have happened to me. Still awake in day 3 of withdrawal. Hoping the worst is over.

After taking Razadyne ER for two days my mother became dizzy, fell, and had speech impairment that put her in the hospital for 5 days. All the tests done came back fine, but because she had a pace maker and was only one baby aspirin she was given coumain. She also had an unexplained fever. The doctors made an educated guess (quote) that she had had a TIA and did not think the drug caused these symptoms. She is not on the drug now, but is now on other drugs that are causing her more problems. The ER doctor felt that it was the drug, but the neurologist and cardiologist did not think so.

I have been taking topral xl for about two months and feel worse than before I started it. I had mitral and aortic valve replacements 4 years ago and recently started having preventricular contractions. The doctor has not been able to determine the reason this has started, but Dr put me on topral xl to stop them. It has stopped the contractions, but I have gained a lot of weight, have increased depression, fatigue, tingling toes, sore breasts, extreme bloating and constipation and overall feeling terrible. I feel that I would be better off just learning to cope with the contractions than having to deal with not wanting to do anything at all. I have always been an active person, even after the heart surgery, but now all I can do is sit. I can't get the doctor to understand that the cure is making me feel worse than the problem. Granted, preventricular contractions is no picnic, and causes a lot of anxiety, but now I don't have the energy or inclination do do anything. What good does it do to have me gain weight and be so depressed and fatigued? I really feel that I would rather have a pace maker than all of the side effects of this drug.

very interesting as I read the above side effects people have experienced. I was put on toprol - l00mg two years ago. I have always been a healthy female = only going to the Dr. for yearly check-ups. Never having the flu, colds, and always low blood pressure. I was exposed to a chemical that immediately increased my blood pressure. Had a clean bill of Health with low blood pressure two weeks prior. I was put on Tropol 50 mg and then l00 mg. I had dizziness, tired, etc. but never related it to the possibility of the medicine and neither did my doctor. I was sent for tests for the dizziness and ended up with a pace maker. After reading the above side effects people have written in about - I wonder what actually created my problems. I always have dry mouth and dry eyes, which I never had before. The reason for pacemaker is if I should go into a faint spell it will kick in and not allow me to faint as I had three episodes of fainting. I also was given every test imaginable prior to the pacemaker. My heart and arteries are fine, cat scans, my heart beats are fine, all arteries flow properly. I now wonder about the medication.

Please tell me where I can go for help. My mother is having terrible side effects from taking Lipitor a couple years ago. She will need a wheelchair soon. I can't believe so many of her problems are linked to this drug! Her doctors won't even consider the problem being Lipitor. Even though she is off it now, her problems seem to be progressing. Her feet are numb with the numbness moving up her legs. Muscle tone is gone and her left foot hangs. She was diagnosed with dropped foot last year. She also had a pace maker put in after she recovered from pneumonia. She has been told she has spinal stenosis and needs back surgery she probably is too weak to survive. Now she is being treated for neuropathy with no success. Her doctor has done a spinal tap and a nerve biopsy. She has seen a neurologist who sent her to a doctor in Houston. She has had gamma globulin IV's and an IV treatment in the hospital. I don't remember what it was called. Next step is a blood cleansing treatment done in Houston for 2 weeks to remove antibodies attacking the myelin sheath. Her eyes have occasionally hemorrhaged and she faints due to low blood pressure. My mother was very healthy except for slightly elevated cholesterol 3 years ago. What can we do? She is dying.

I am not sure if this was the reason or not but I have had to have a pace maker put in for irregular heartbeat and in fact my heart stopped twice in the one day once for 35 and once for 15 seconds that was when the pacemaker was put in.
