Without looking at he clock I know it's time for my next dose when I quit feeling like I have a hangover. Nausea, vomiting, extremely thirsty, dull headache that doesn't go away, loss of appetite. I've been taking Chantix for 5 days. Definitely don't have much urge to smoke but that may be the nausea. Haven't noticed any mood swings or depression. No strange dreams. Kinda wish I had that side effect! I've tried everything for the nausea. Taken pills before, after eating or without eating. I always take with water. No difference in nausea only the amount of vomiting. If the Chantix continues to keep me from smoking (I'm down to 10 cigs a day and only smoke partials vs. over a pack a day) it will have been worth it. I'm hoping the side effects will diminish as time goes on

anyone feel like drinking a lot? i've been on Yaz for 2 weeks and im absolutely miserable! I don't like my friends anymore, i hate my job and I want to go somewhere to relax but i cant think of a place that doesn't sound depressing to me. Ive never felt like drinking would help a mood swing issue but i find that im drinking every night and i definitely don't want to become an alcoholic because of this stupid pill. Ive smoked for a few years ..no more than a pack a day and now im smoking a lot more which makes my chest hurt then the paranoia comes in and i think i have cancer and all these other things wrong with me and start crying..at work. i yell at everyone and say really mean things then 2 seconds later i want to take it back cause i really didn't mean to say them in the first place. i think i make things up and dwell on them. im psychotic and so insecure now. I cant be satisfied and i cant make decisions. but hey, i cant get pregnant if no one wants to be around me!

2nd week into Chantix experience. Smoking is WAY DOWN, from a pack a day. I am so nauseous that I cannot eat/think function etc. I had better be smoke free after experiencing this lovely side effect. Also, Type I diabetic, single mother of a 2 year old and a smoker since age 13 or 14 that's 25 years of smoking.

hello its me again i am posting another issue i had with yaz when i stopped it after 5 days. My blood pressure sky rocketed to 147/over 102 which i have never had a problem with my blood pressure it has always remained 117/69. i had to go to the ER three times because of of this it would just hit me i would get very tired i felt like my heart was skipping which it was and my vision was very foggy. my left arm went numb and tingly every time this happened for days . They said it was rare side affects from the yaz rare my butt how is it possible that i could get all the side affects yet there are suppose to be rare whats bad about is the lady at the ER didn't even know that yaz had side affects like this tell she looked it up thats very sad to me considering there are lists and list of people who have had the same problem as me plus if i wouldn't have listened to my boyfriend and myinner self i think after two weeks i would have had severe problems considering i was on it for only five days and look what it did to me not to mention the doctor confirmed i smoked a pack a day and told me to take it any ways . can i do some then about this with a lawyer or do i just have to suck it up
m.

Weird, weird dreams --- I would really like to know how that happens---but the medication works great! I only took it once a day for 2 and 1/2 weeks and I quit smoking very easily. I had smoked a pack a day for 40 years. Thank you Chantix!

help ........... I just now broke a Wellbutrin SR pill in half and took it. .... ** What is going to happen ?? I am scared.

I saw a website that says: "Do not crush, chew, or break the extended-release tablet (Wellbutrin SR, Wellbutrin XL, Zyban SR). Swallow the pill whole. It is specially made to release medicine slowly in the body. Breaking the pill would cause too much of the drug to be released at one time."

I just now decided to start taking again after 3 years because i have been having anxiety and can't stand it anymore !!

I am a pack a day smoker too. 46 year old male.

been taking chantix for about 6 weeks now. finally stopped smoking a week ago although was down to a pack a week instead of a pack a day. I really only smoked those because I had them and I think I was smoking them just to get rid of them. Went to a wedding yesterday outside - people were smoking at my table and I didn't want one. I honestly feel like I've never smoked before except for one craving a day which lasts for a few minutes - before I know it - it's gone. I have been experiencing heart palpitations but it's HOURS after I have taken the pill - I had a pill at 8 am and it's now 2:30 and its like I'm having an anxiety attack. The dreams are vivid - bizarre - none scary though. nausea sometimes when taking the pill - I find that a LARGE glass of water helps.

My husband took Chantix before I tried it. He was a two pack a day smoker and honestly, I thought he would never give it up.

He had all the normal side effects at first. The nausea was the worst but he learned that eating first helped. Then of course there was the dreams but he could also live with that. All in all, he didn't really notice any change in himself at all. But there was a change and it hasn't changed back yet, and he has been off Chantix for over six months now.

At first, we thought it was just nicotine withdrawal that was making him so mean. But as the days turned to weeks, then weeks to months, it is obvious to his entire family that this medicine has caused a complete personality change in him. He is always so angry. We have been married for over twenty years, and it has just been in the past few months that he has actually been really mean to me. Not physically, just verbally. It seems that we argue about everything. I can never do anything to please him anymore. Everything that goes wrong is my fault. He is just basically an unhappy person now.

The worst part is how it effects our teen age children. They hate to go places that includes him. He is so quick to fly off the handle with them. He has embarrassed me by talking down to me in public and he has done the same to the kids. He would have never done that before. He used to really care if he hurt my feelings, but now, it is as if he doesn't care anymore. He agrees that he seems more agitated than normal, but says he just doesn't know what to do about it. It just has effected his whole personality and it seems that it is a permanent change, since he has been off Chanitx for more than six months now.

He says he hurts a lot now, his muscles and joints ache all the time. That is another side effect that I have found occurs with Chantix users. His memory and concentration is terrible now. He will swear he told us something or asked us to do something for him, when in truth, he has said nothing. He will begin to say something and stop in mid sentence, leaving us waiting to hear what he is saying. When we tell him that he did not finish his statement, he gets angry at us. We feel like we are in a no win situation when dealing with him, so we just walk on egg shells around him now. I want my husband back and my children want their father back.

Yes he is smoke free, but at what cost to him and his family? This drug should have never been allowed to be put on the market without further testing.

Luckily I only took it for three days. But during those three days, my vision got so blurry that I could not even see the TV, and could barely drive a car safely. I called Pfizer to ask about this and at first, thought they were really concerned about me. But then I realized they only wanted to document my side effect. After stopping the medicine, my vision cleared up. I then wrote to Pfizer and complained. I demanded they refund my money and they did, without any questions.

So to everyone who is taking this or considering taking this, please don't! Please stop now if you are taking it. It is a dangerous drug. Smoking is bad for us, we know that. But at least it is something we know. We don't know all the dangers of this drug yet. It is just not worth the risk.

I seem to be agreeing with everyone...lots of nausea, weird (actually, awesome) dreams...strange moodiness ranging from really happy to flashes of anger or urges to cry...I also think it might be reacting badly to my BCP. It works, though. I was smoking a pack a day, and it was soo weird, not thinking about smoking...or even when I do, it passes really quick. I actually quit two days before the blue pack. not all I have to do is keep snacks in the car, and gum for after eating, and I'm fine.

I am currently in my second, nearly third, week of taking Chantix. Although I am smoking considerably less (from a pack a day+ to one to 1.5 cigs a day for 10 years), I can't ignore the changes in my behavior. I'm very, very irritable and almost angry-- I'm typically easy-going and happy. It's even started to effect family as my husband is finding it hard to deal with my mood. I'm really happy with the fact that I'm smoking less, but the mood swings are difficult to deal with and is what prompted me to search for symptoms online.

Aside from the anger, my symptoms are normal-- nausea, weird dreams, and I always feel like I need more sleep.

I am 30-years-old and have been smoking close to a pack a day (usually less, sometimes more) since I was 19. This is my 10th day on Chantix. Well, everyone is right... you cannot take it on an empty stomach. I had to pull over on my way to work and throw up. Anyway, I will definately eat in the morning from now on. I have gotten some muscle pain, but nothing major. The key is to take vitamins - - a good multi and extra potassium and fiber.
As far as the smoking part.. well, today was suppose to be my quit date, but I wound up having 7. I don't feel sick when I smoke on it but I definately don't enjoy it as much. Now, it's breaking the habit, not the addiction.

I too had chest pains!! That is something that they do no tell you.

This medication definitely needs to be re-evaluated by the FDA, to determine what damage it may do to your heart.

I was already seeing a psychiatrist for Panic disorder so I had valium at home. However, I still ended up in the ER for my chest pains after getting no call back from my dr for two weeks telling her that I was having all of the other side effects ( except the hair loss), tingling in the hands and feet, fatigue, moodiness, different tastes of things, especially colas.

Nevertheless, I was diagnosed at the ER with having a panic attack....DUHHHH, how could I possibly be having a panic attack when I had taken about 2 1/2 10 mg valium to try to get my chest to stop hurting. I explained to the ER dr. that I had started taking the topamax 3 weeks prior...There absolutely needs to be better education of this drug and its terrible side effects!!!

Background on my self:

1- Never had an alcoholic drink in my life (religious reasons)

2- I suffer from Crohn's disease (bowel disease)

3- I smoke cigarettes (a pack a day)

I've been taking Levaquin for the past 21 days days (500 mg/day)

Side effects: minor pain in right rist joint, minor headache

My doctor prescribed the pain killer Oxicodone (5mg) to be taken when needed every four hours.

I take my Levaquin in the morning with a cracker or some white bread along with the oxicodone pill.

Conclusion: I'm almost side-effect free!!
