I had my Mirena put in on October 26 of 2007 and it hurt bad. I started bleeding as soon as it was put it and had to take a pain pill when I got home the pain was so bad. I couldn't hardly walk for the next 3 days. I have been cramping since I had it put in but the bleeding did stop for a bit. Now I have bleeding for the past 2 weeks off and on. Sometimes its heavy to wear a pad or tampon and then it will stop all the sudden. I have cramps like I am going to start my period all the time. My right ovary hurts me really bad to where I can't walk. I called my doctor and the nurse pretty much told that I didn't need to be seen that my doctor will look at my chart but that I shouldn't need to come in. I am thinking about going to an Immediate care center because I have 2 kids and I can't stay like this. Oh and the mood swings are crazy I get pissed for no reason or I am just mean and its not me at all. Oh and my periods before this were just maybe a day or 2 and cramping before it. I am not used to this at all.

I had my Mirena put in on Oct 18th. There was some cramping the first day but not again after that. The only thing I am having trouble with is the bleeding. I have bled every day since it was put in and I just want to know how long it will last. I'm really tired of it. I have one other friend who has Mirena and she said she bled for the first day and thats it. Can someone please let me know if this is normal

I've been on Doxy for 4 months now and Im lucky enough not to have this tingling of the legs and arm but i do get severe nausea, its ridiculous it gets to the point where i cant do anything but lie down and scarf saltine crackers slowly until it gets to my stomach and the Doxy bonds with it. Lately I've been noticing that I'm more tired, but mostly just in the last week and I've been on it for four months. I like to "pad" the pill, eat most of a meal , swallow the pill, and then finish the meal. I hate how inconvenient it is though, no dairy, or vitamins within 2hours, dairy is in a lot more than i once thought. Ive been sick more lately though and i can tell that just missing one day has a drastic effect on my acne :-(

Hi Ladies,
i have had a mirena since Jan 2007. I have had continual spotting and have to wear a pad all the time. I was told it would settle down it hasnt. I have like period pain in the front and lower back, which at late, is getting worse. I think it is only natural to expect that when we place a foreign object in our bodies PLUS add the hormone that the possibility of having problems is likely. My advise,... lets make our partners step up to the plate and get the snip snip!! We were pregnant, got sick, gained weight, developed stretch marks, breast feed, gave them kids...NOW ITS THERE TURN

Practically the same as everyone else. I have PAD (so they say). So, I 'm not really sure whether the extreme pain in my calves and hips are a result of that (I don't think so), or the Zocor. I'm coming off of it immediately. I'll find something else to take for my cholesterol. The pain in my legs have definitely gotten worse. I've been on Zocor for 3 years. Started on 40 mgs, now on 80 mgs. I honestly think it's the Zocor that's causing the pain and not the PAD. Also have trouble with blurred vision and I just feel tired all the time. I hope this is not permanent, but I'm so afraid that it is. Also on Lexapro for depression. No wonder. I've made up my mind that if a label says "FDA approved", I don't want any part of it.

I had no pain during insertion, only some mild cramping afterward. My periods were really crazy for several months and then they just stopped, but I had discharge all the time. I had to constantly wear a light day pad and I hated that. I had a major decrease in sex drive and pain during intercourse which I never had before, I decided to have it out two weeks ago and since then I have been bleeding very heavily with a lot of clotting. I defintiely don't like that, but I have noticed an increase in sex drive almost right away.

I received a Kenalog injection in December '06 to provide relief from an allergic reaction. My doctor did NOT inform me of any possible side effects other than drowsiness. Two months later a small dipple formed where the shot was given. I had no idea what it was and just assumed it was a part of getting older (I'm 30). When it began to get deeper, I became extremely worried. It has now been 6 months and the dimple has turned into a very large indentation. I still did not put two and two together and did not think it could have been caused by the steroid injuection. I visited my doctor, the same one who administered the shot in December, to find out what this could possibly be. He said he had no idea!! And even suggested it could be cancer!!!! I came home upset, obviously, thinking I was very sick, possibly even dying!! My sister did some research and found this site, and I am so relieved. But now I am angry at my doctor for not warning me of this possible side effect at the time of the shot AND then diagnosing it as a possible cancer!!! So now I am left with this deformity on my butt and a profound feeling of helplessness. Someone please tell me actions you have taken that have worked, both legally and physically. Will this go away?!?

After reading many of the posts regarding nuvaring side effects I immediately removed my nuvaring and will be calling my doctor to let him know. The posts confirmed the numerous side effects I've been experiencing myself for the last 2.5 months but silly me I thought they'd go away. Now I know they won't. My side effects were:

Increased vaginal secretions so bad I had to wear a pad every day.

Increased vaginal odor.

Depression

Mood Swings

Weight Gain

Cluster Migraines

NO sex drive at all...

Sinus sniffling, coughing, etc...

I cannot believe that one itty bitty little ring could cause so much havoc on a woman's body. Surely there has to be a birth control method that won't make me sick?

I posted last month about the indention in my hip and the terrible periods. The dent in my hip is 2 inches wide and 2 inches long now and the periods are not as irregular but extremly heavy,I don't want to leave my house in fear of bleeding through my pad and tampon onto my clothes.I had a consultation with a plastic surgean today and he told me the atrophy is permanent and will possible get worse. He is going to refere me to another plastic surgean that is familiar with sculptra because he has not had any luck with any other type of fillers not even fat injections.I have an appointment with an attorney next week to discuss a possible lawsuit against the doctor who did this to me.I don't see where it makes a difference if the atrophy is in the arm or the butt it's still a permanent disfiguration. The doctor who gave me the kenalog injection told me that in most cases the atrophy repairs itself in about a year.I have spoken with 2 other doctors and both have said it is permant and it takes a series of Sculptra inections to fill it and that is only a temporary fix.

I am glad I found this site. I recently started taking Yasmin, I am 22 years old and it is my first experience with oral contraceptives. Anyway, the first month was fine, except that my flow was unusually heavy (we're talking super+ tampon & Heavy pad were necessary for the first 2 days), which is unusual for me since I've never bought anything stronger than regular.
About midway through the second month, I became depressed, gained 15 pounds, and was crying every day over little things. I know I've been under stress, but I am always stressed, and this was not a usual reaction for me. The only thing I could think of was mabye it was the Yasmin, but my healthcare provider assured me that this was not one of the side effects. I came across this site and decided that I needed to get off this stuff. Especially when I would be on the verge of tears all day long, and was missing classes because all I could do was hide under the covers crying.
Finally I quit Yasmin and demanded to be put on something different. I am not too familiar with any other BCPs, and I was warry of trying them. So I was given NuvaRing to try. So far....I am symptom free. I am hoping that this will help other women who feel as if they are "going nutz" and don't understand why, as I had felt. Even if your healthcare provider denies this side effect demand to be given an alternative. I have never felt as horrible as I did with yasmin.

renee, I believe the cortisone injection you received is the cause of the indentation on your foot. The same thing happened to my foot. I received 2 kenalog injections, and I now have fat pad atrophy in the ball of my foot. Also, when I first noticed an indentation, I had a small area of whitish discoloration.

I don't know if you can sue the government. If you are serious about a lawsuit, talk to a malpractice attorney.

Podiatrist gave me a total of 2 injections containing Kenalog into the top of my forefoot for an injury (I banged my foot, but no broken bones). About 2 months after the 2nd injection, I noticed an indentation and skin discoloration directly beneith an injection site. Now many months later, I have lost a significant amount of the fat pad on the ball of my foot. I have chronic pain in the ball of my foot. I wonder how the Kenalog has affected the muscles or bones in my foot, since it destroyed the fat pad.

This podiatrist NEVER mentioned that there are possible side effects of steroid injections. He only stated positive things about the shots, and I didn't know any better. If he had told me that there were side effects like fat pad atrophy, I would NEVER have let him inject my foot. My foot would have been fully healed today had I not received those injections, but instead ended up with a chronic condition!

I posted previously on April 14, 2004. I should have mentioned that I experienced most of the side effects listed in other postings, but only mentioned the side effects I did not see in the forum. Two more I haven't seen mentioned: the Prednisone "hump" at the top of my back...it is a pad of fat that builds up the longer you are on Prednisone. The other side effect did not show up right away: Osteopenia, which is the stage between normal bone mass and Osteoporosis. I am now taking Fosomax to help prevent further bone loss.

I just finished my first pack of Yasmin and I'm shocked to read about all the horrible side effects others have experienced. I have no changes in mood or energy level. I have breast tenderness and have been spot bleeding the whole month. The bleeding isn't enough for me to wear a tampon or pad (more annoying than anything else) but will try another pack (month) before I decide to switch to another brand. Will keep you updated...
