I have been on Yasmin for 4 years now and I only recently started to question if some of the things that I have been experiencing are related to this pill. After reading your comments here, I'm more convinced then ever! I am a relatively healthy 31 year right now but for over a year now I have had a terrible ongoing ache in the back of my right thigh, just above my knee. I went to a vein specialist who just wanted to inject me to reduce the vein and "hoped" that it would help resolve the pain. He said that I had reticular veins and that they can be painful but as I understand it, you can get pain in your deep veins, which can result in deep vein thrombosis and even pulmonary embolisms (very life threatening). I have also had terrible ongoing headaches that last me 3 days at least once per month. I've always suffered from migraines so I didn't necessarily connect these headaches to the pill. I have absolutely ZERO sex drive. It's like I have to force myself to do it and it fills me with anxiety to even "gear up" for it. I have vaginal dryness, which can be very frustrating during foreplay and painful during sex. I had previously always been pleased that Yasmin resolved my 10 + year battle with painful cystic back acne. I have beautiful, clear skin on my back since I started taking Yasmin. I have also experienced fairly normal periods (for me). I used to have debilitating cramps and periods so heavy that I would wear a tampon and double my pads (with wings) so that I could live through the first part of the day at work without completely breaking through and bleeding through my pants. They would last for 5 - 7 days but with the pill I have more normal periods, manageable cramps, minor bloating, and still a heavy flow but not nearly as bad as before. I have always had good cholesterol levels and low triglycerides until 4 years ago when I started the pill. Since then I have had 2 blood tests where my cholesterol has skyrocketed and my triglycerides are triple the "normal" range. I eat healthier now then ever before and I regularly exercise as well so I cannot explain my cholesterol change, nor can my doctor (after showing a food diary of mostly fruits, veggies, limited whole grains, lean meat and optimal water). He told me to "go on a low carb diet" and "stay away from "sugars". I can't explain it either, I am always thirsty. I drink almost a gallon of water a day. I have this constant craving for a beverage and dryness if I'm not consistently sipping on water. My eyes are always dry, so dry in fact that it makes me feel tired or like I just want to close them to give them a break. I just started using eye drops, which has helped. Also, I'm tired, very very tired. It's summer so my energy is better only because I force myself to go workout, which always makes me feel better. I must say though, all in all, I have some concerning symptoms that seem to be prevalent throughout the blog but I've also had some positive effects from Yasmin. My concerns and your comments however are enough to take myself off the pill (Yasmin and all others) to try and live with my natural hormones instead of the synthetic in the pill. I think the potential risks outweigh the rewards. Thank you all for sharing and helping me in my decision making process.

I'm 21 and have been on Yasmin for 3 and a half months for bad acne. I was originally on Dianette but experience such severe side effects I honestly thought I'd be hospitalized, so I asked my doctor for Yasmin. All was fine for the first 2 months, but I'm now getting horrible pain in my right leg which won't go away no matter what, coupled with a pins and needles type feeling in my feet. I'm also developing spider veins on my legs, It's got to the point where I'm scared to look at my legs now in case any more have shown up! I've decided I'll come off it in a month or so, but don't know what to do to keep my acne at bay. Does anyone know of any natural remedies? I don't wanna keep messing around with drugs and hormones in case I cause long term damage!
Also, has anyone else gone to their doctor about these side effects, only to find the doctor says 'its nothing to do with the pill' when clearly it is! I saw 3 different doctors about my dianette problems, none of them believed it was down to the pill, but when I stopped taking it, my problems disappeared :/

I am 27 years old, male, and have had type 1 diabetes since I was 8.
My doctor prescribed Zocor repeatedly in 2007(for high blood pressure) and I was reluctant to taking it because I have no respect for any of the miracle drug companies and feel that they are only looking to make money, not help anyone with their health problems. I finally started taking Zocor (generic) in Nov 2007, then started getting some strange side effects that my doctor never mentioned when I asked him.
My side effects were, but not limited to, muscle pain in the legs and back. I noticed sharp pains in my knee like arthritis and Charlie horses in the calf during time at sleep. I noticed these after about 1 week of taking the drug and lasted through till the end. I stopped taking the drug in Dec 2007 and been off it since. I have yet to talk to my doctor about it, but I talked to his nurse and she recognized the symptoms. I reached my conclusion long before speaking to her however.
Now 2 months have passed since I stopped taking the drug and the pains in my back and legs have disappeared. The arthritis type feeling in the knee has gone away. I have more flexibility and none of the pain that I felt while taking the drug. I am astounded that the clinical trial for this drug doesn't note the muscle pain; at least the notes from trials I found on the internet didn't note it as a side effect.

I began taking 10mg per day of Crestor on 19th May this year. I received the documentation regarding side effects and read it. After two days I had tingling pains in my legs and I was checked for further cardiovascular problems, and cleared. I enquired if Crestor may be the problem but I was assured it was not.
I had a CT scan and then subsequently an MRI of my lower back looking for restricted blood flow but after seeing a neurosurgeon this was ruled out as the cause of the tingling. There was some degeneration of the back but not serious blood flow restriction. At about this time the Crestor dosage was increased to 20mg. At this stage I had back pain but it was not thought to be related. I enquired again if it might be Crestor but was assured it most unlikely.
Pain in my back increased dramatically one night shortly after and was so intense not only could I not sleep, I simply could not get myself to think of anything else despite intense mental energy to try to do so. I was on the verge of calling an ambulance, but walking around and applying heat seemed to relieve it slightly and I lasted until morning. Doctor thought it was a locked facet joint and sent me to a physio. She helped considerably and I assumed this was the problem. However, the next day it returned. Upper body strength was fine but from the middle down was just plain sore. The physio worked on my back again, and suggested I get a back brace which I did and I struggled on with that as a help.
The pain shifted from my back to the top of my hip and I went back to the doctor to check my hip. He assured me the pain was on the top of the hip, not the groin area and was unlikely to be my hip. I began taking over the counter pain killers for the pain which was hitting about 8 out of 10 spasmodically. The physio was mystified and suggested it may be kidney stones, and so I went back to the doctor to check that out. He had already taken a urine sample which had no blood at all. The pain shifted to the hip and upper right leg. By the time I was able to see him, the pain was quite severe and I was sure it was my hip. He was not sure, but prescribed Panadine Forte for the pain and sent me for an Xray of the hips.
I was very distressed about this, as it appeared I would not be able to continue working. The hip Xray showed perfectly normal hips but the pain was even worse, by this stage in the right thigh. In desparation I saw the doctor again and agreed to try and “tough it out for a few days” using pain killers, another round with the physio, and as much rest as possible. The physio was so convinced it was not muscular but rather a possible kidney stone she sent me back to the doctor. While waiting to get to see him I began looking at the side effects of Crestor on the internet and after checking with the doctor I stopped taking it on Aug 1st to see what happened. Within a day I began to improve but I still thought it might be kidney stones (possibly a big one blocking a tube completely and therefore no blood) and my doctor ordered a CT scan of the bladder area which confirmed that both kidneys were working just fine.
Slowly over a week and a half the pain is completely gone, the back is fine, the hips are fine, the groin is fine and I feel so much more like living. I am now absolutely certain it is Crestor that has caused the whole problem. The docotrs have now prescribed Lipitor in it’s place, and I have the tablets but as yet I have not begun taking them. I am a bit fearful of doing so, but I will begin in a few days time. However, if I get any repeat of the muscular problems I have had I will stop immediately.
I decided to document this as I realise this is important feedback concerning a relatively new drug. I don’t know how this is conveyed to a national data base, but it seems to me this is a serious side effect that has very nasty consequences. Was it that my kidneys were objecting violently to the drug? I don’t know. But it caused me great distress and this is surely a concern.

I am on Lipantil (Fenofibrate) 267MG and Ezetrol (Ezetimibe) 10MG.
I was on a 20MG statin but changed to the above because it didn't agree with me.
Has anyone noticed a tendency to suntan more easily?
I look like I have been under a sunlamp, my face being noticeably browner than the rest of me yet I have not spent a lot of time in direct sunlight.
I believe the Fenofibrate may be the cause of greater photosensitivity.
Should I worry or just be pleased I look browner?
Anyone else noticed this effect?

I received a drip of levaquin in a hospital ER for a infected dog bite. I was given a prescription after that and took 1 dose of 750 mg for four days. On the fourth day I was doing some minor physical work and started experiencing what felt like cramps in my calfs. It got worse after a few hours and started to spread slightly into the hamstring area. I went directly to my Dr. who said he didn't think it was a reaction from the drug even though muscle pain and sudden pain in the legs is listed as an adverse reaction. He gave me a muscle relaxer (Skelaxin).
I am taking Tramadol (Ultram) for back pain and knew that some muscle relaxers, such as cyclobenzaprine, can cause fatal respritory failure. I had to mention this and have them check to make sure there would be no adverse reaction from mixing the drugs. This is the office that prescribed the Tramadol.
I was told to discontinue the Levaquin and given a prescription for Cephalaxin. When I got home from the pharmacy and read the printout in the package I find that the drug should not be taken by anyone who has had allergic reaction to penicillin type drugs. I am highly allergic to penicillin which is in my medical records at the doctor's office.
UNBELIEVABLE !!

began taking 25 mg about 3 wks ago for headaches. stepped up to 50 when headaches didn't cease and, eventually, 100 b/c I still felt a slight tinge of one (though certainly not that bad). I've been at 100 now for about 1 week and will probably step back down to 50 mg b/c I am starting to get the negative symptoms such as tingling fingers and face, slight pain in the legs, dehydration and "floaty brain."
I most certainly intend on staying w/this med. b/c, 1. it got rid of my headaches, 2. I've lost 9 - 10 lbs. so far and no longer eat everything in sight, 3. I SLEEP again, THANK GOD!!! 4. I have NO mood swings
It should be noted that I take no other meds - not even over-the-counter! (Might want to see what the doctor suggests for menstral cramps. My normal dose of excederin (sp?) did not work - I was in agony. Not sure if this was a result of Topamax or not. )
Oh, and be very careful when consuming alcoholic beverages. If you begin to feel abnormally agitated, stop. Be sure to drink plenty of water so as not to get dehydrated!

Another side effect as well as muscle pain, difficulty walking etc... is DRY SKIN.
I had such a dry itchy skin underneath my feet that the skin was lifting up. 2 months after stopping Lipitor my skin is back to normal. Much less pain in the legs etc.
This drug should be taken off the market ! !

I was put on Lipitor because of a one time spike in my Trigliceride. It was only 10mg for three weeks. Within a week my ankles were stiff and my feet heavy. I had cramps/pain in the legs. Within a couple of weeks, I had pain in all my joints and muscles, especially my legs. It has now been a year, and I've have been told that if I don't stop the process, I may not make it. All of my muscles have atrophied to the point that I can hardly walk. My spine is no longer being supported my my muscles so I have three torn disks. No one will address that problem because the muscles are not strong enough to undergo even the most minor procedure. In addition, my hips have seperated as though I had been in an accident. The only accident was taking Lipitor. I am desperate to find some help. Time is running out. I am already on CoQ10 and Fish Oil. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would greatly be appreciated. I have been to California with no help. Please, please, please. I will do whatever necessary to stop this horrific illness. It is beyond my imagination how they can get away with passing these drugs out like candy. Help, Dianne

I found this web site while searching side effect of Singulair. My Son - 7 years old is experiencing same issue - Severe random leg pain in both legs or 1 leg as mentioned by few others. He can not walk when it happened and I have to carry him. The pain disappear in 2-3 days or sometimes it takes 5-6 days.
We did X-Ray and doc could not find anything wrong.
Others..who are facing same issue...I would appreciate if u can send me an email to ****** so that we can talk in detail.
