Thank you Thanks you Thank you!
I am literally crying - tears - reading all of your posts because I have been totally stressed this week trying to figure out what is wrong with me... I am 33 and mother of 3 so I just thought it was normal to be tired constantly. I had Mirena put in Dec of 2008 so almost a year now. At first not a big deal, slight spotting here and there. Now I am headed to the doctor with 100 symptoms. I have felt ALL the things you all are saying, the mood swings, random crampiness, feeling like a period is coming, but nothing happens. Cramping after sex and almost always spotting the following day. Low back pain, hip/groin pain too. Feeling bloated/ full/swollen in my low abdomen. I've had a headache just about everyday for the last 2 weeks and I have been nauseous (feeling like I'm preggo again) since I got the Mirena. Anxiety, dizziness, etc etc etc. Finally called the Dr because after 10 months of no periods, I have now been actually bleeding for a week. It has scared me to death thinking I have cysts, or worse!! It has helped tremendously hearing your stories although I am sorry that so many of us are going through this.
Of course my doctor won't get me in for another 6 days - but at least I am going. The nurse made it sound like the IUD may be out of place! I have felt uncomfortable all along knowing that there was this foreign object lodged in my body so I am sure I will be getting it removed no matter what they tell me. I just have to figure out what my next step is.... I am not prepared to have any more children!
3 is amazing, but just about all I can handle right now! : )
Thanks for your posts, they have calmed my fears tremendously.

Oct-14-09 I found your site on Oct-1-09, read several stories with very similiar symptoms of my husbands, and at that time, wrote one of my own. Today several weeks later, I must tell you what has happened. I printed several of your stories and shared them with my husband's Dr. After his Dr. read a few, he in fact agreed that my husband might be having these reactions from the Lisinopril. He instructed my husband to stop taking the medication. It has been a little more than a week since my husband has stopped taking Lisinopril, and I am happy to report that his symptoms have decreased significantly. I had read the warnings about this drug before my husband started taking it more than a year ago, but it never occurred to me that this drug was his problem. In the past year he has seen a neurologist, stomach specialist and a endocrine specialist. Not one Dr. had even questioned the use of ths medication!! Had I not stumbled onto this site and read your stories, I know that my husband would still be taking this drug, We would still be searching for ANSWERS to the cause of his continued symptoms. It scares and saddens me to think of the many people who are taking this drug, who are suffering and don't know that the drug is causing all of their pain. Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories, God Bless!! A.

Just wondering if anyone else has similar side effects ... I have had Gall Bladder symptoms but all the tests say my gall bladder is working well. (Blood, sono and MRI with contrast) It all started a few weeks after the mirena was inserted. Extremely Severe pain in my right side that last for 8 to 12 hrs. Seems to feel slightly better with a few crackers (unlike gall bladder) and seems to move lower as it gets better (also unlike gall bladder). It does not move around to my back like gall bladder should or usually does. Gall bladder made sense since I have the risk factors ( women over 30, just had a baby etc)

Anyway, Anyone else having the right side pain? Thanks!

Hi My name is Daniela, and I just checked my spam box and saw an e-mail about Yasmin dangerous side effects, I guess it is organized by lawyers that wants you to sign up for a law suit..anyway, that made me really think about it ,and I googled to read more about the Yaz birth control. I have been taking Yaz for 16 months, I just stopped taking the drug , because I had to go to the doctor again to prescribe me some more, but since I don't have health insurance anymore I have postponed the visit. It has been two weeks since I stopped the Yaz an for the last 4 days I have had chest pains all around the breast area, my chest and back will hurt at the same time, I got scared thinking I can get a heart atack, or else. I am 32 years old, and It is very scary to me at that early age to have problems like these. But by reading your complains I am realizing the pain is from these pills. The first 4 months I have been taking Yaz, then I switch to Ocella (generic of Yaz) because it is much cheaper. And thinking back then, I started taking Yaz Oct 2007,, In Jan 2008 I went to see my doctor for depression, I got very angry, explode about stuff, and being depressed, and now I am putting all the pieces together, and I can really see all the similar thing that other women has t experienced during the time they took that medicine. Wow, I am glad that I stopped Ocella. And I will go to my doctor for a full exam.
My dad was telling me how a doctor told my brother that his liver look very bad, the doctor thought he is an alcoholic, but he is not, he just takes a lot of pills about anything to get rid of pain, cold, or else. And that info also made me think about myself. And how I should try to avoid pills to take care of minor headache or pain.
Thanks to all the women for sharing their experience, it has really helped me put the pieces together and help myself, by thinking, not by taking pills.THANK YOU

I had my Mirena put in about 7 months ago, since then i have been getting sicker and sicker. I was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism in June, but my TSH level is almost back to normal now and I still feeling so ill. I have gained 15 pounds, feel very emotionally unstable, I'm moody, fatigued, have constant joint and muscle pain! I am so depressed and no matter what i do I just can't feel better! I just want to die! My husband had a hunch that it could be the IUD causing this all and started researching it. He found this website and read to me what everyone had said. I was shocked! I'm a nurse so i got off the phone with him and removed it myself, which I do not recommend if you are not a health care professional. I'm sure it's just in my head, but I feel better already! I hope that all of my symptoms resolve now, but either way that is one less thing that could be causing my symptoms. I hope this helps others and let me know if you also had joint and muscle pain! Thanks and GOOD LUCK to you all!

Pam

HI, I just read all of your comments regarding Mirena and I cannot believe how exact your side effects are how I feel. I am on antidepressants for my PMDD, which I had prior to insertion and I gain 10 lbs per period. I cannot lose the last 10 lbs of baby 10/29/06 even though I road bike 3 to 4 times a week for 45 minutes a day.

I thought I was just getting old!

I had terrible pain and bleeding for the first 6 months and then things were good, but I have terrible pain during sex and terrible side pain.

Thanks! I think I am getting mine removed!

I,ve had mirena for 2 1/2 yrs and it has been the worst 2 1/2 yrs ever! I went to the ob 8 months ago to have it removed and my Dr. would not take it out she said that there was no possible way that it could be causing my 6 days in a row migraines that only respond to imitrex nothing else. So for the past couple of days I've been trying to make an appt to have
mirena taken out but the appts are like 2 weeks wait. I removed it myself this morning took a while to find it, hope this doesn't offend anyone I just wanted it out that bad. I really hope I start to feel better and that all the symptoms tat I have been having are not all in my head. My symptoms include no menstrual bleeding but instead a viscous cycle of Pms, cramps, headaches and fatigue that never go away. For the past 10 months I,ve had migraines and have been taking imitrex consistently. I don't ever feel like getting out of bed and my 2 oldest kids don't understand why I'm so ill and my youngest 2 1/2 says mommy has a headache, all day long. I'm curious to know if any one else has had migraines or chronic neck pain? Thanks.

I was on Yasmin for two months and then switched to the new generic form this month, completed two weeks and now I am taking myself off of the pill due to the following side effects: anxiety, crying over every little thing, insomnia, tiredness, extreme hunger, sore and swollen breasts, ear aches, constipation, and leg cramping.

Is there anyone out there that has had severe chest pains, particularly in the sternum region, on the ring? I've had mine out for two days after weeks of RAGE and back pain...along with chest pains and heart palpitations. Just hoping the chest pain and pressure will subside.
Thank you.

After reading your stories, I am terrified that I even let my doctor talk me into getting this. I have a 3 year old and a 4 month old. My husband and I weren't sure if we wanted more kids so I asked my doctor what she recommended.
We decided on Mirena so I had it put in back in December. It is now Jan.19. On Wednesday I went for my 5 week checkup to make sure it was still where it was suppose to be. Well, they couldn't find it. This was in the morning...I needed to get an ultrasound. They still couldn't find it so they did an internal ultrasound...still nothing. So my doctor ordered an x-ray.
Mind you I had my kids with me because I thought it would be quick. So they were both hunger at this point. By this point it was almost dinner time.
They finally found it back on the right side of my abdomen. NOT IN MY UTERUS!! I couldn't believe it. I now need surgery to remove it.
They will be doing a laparoscopic surgery...my doctor has never done this before. Do I let her or do I get someone else to do it? She said she has never perforated anyone's uterus before and that she would not charge me for the surgery but I would need to pay for the hospital stay. Is this right?
I don't think I should be paying for any of this.
Besides the fact that I've also been experiencing lots of cramping and pain. I 've gained 6-7 lbs., have muscle aches, crabbiness, headaches, dizziness, bloated all the time, bad gas pains in my stomach,...tired.
Was it worth it...NO!!!
I can't wait to get it out. My husband and I will stick with condoms for now until we want a more permanent solution. My husband said he would get the vasectomy at that point. I've gone through enough.
I am sure this is not a good form of bc. I'm sorry women have had to go through the same experience but hopefully more women will realize how bad it is and not get one.

Very grateful to see I wasn't going crazy! I have had major hip joint pain and insomnia after a couple days of taking Levaquin. I luckily only have 2 days left and am looking forward to returning to normal after I am done. Granted, I was recently diagnosed with arthritis in my hip, but the stiffness and pain has gotten so bad at times I couldn't even stand up straight because of the pain and ended up having to take Celebrex to relieve the pain. Thanks for everyone posting.

I had a Kenalog injection 5/5/04; nothing mentioned about "dimpling" or any other side effects. Helped allergies ok; however, after 4 months I have this huge indention in my upper buttock. Not only that, I am unable to put any weight on my left foor/leg first. Have to use my right foot in order to get my left leg up the stairs second. Severe pain in that hip area as well as when I sleep, sit and walk. Dr. said "oh it would go away in a year" so live with it.
Any suggestions to help the pain??
Thanks,
CJ

I started taking Desogen about a month and a half ago and in the beginning I didn't notice any side effects. About 2-3 weeks into taking it, I realized that my sex drive was very low, and unfortunately it is still low! It's extremely frustrating not only for me, but also for my boyfriend. I then become very stressed out because I know my boyfriend is frustrated with me. I have also noticed that I am quick tempered a bit more lately, and I'm more sensitive resulting in me crying more easily. A side effect that I have not read in this column is one that I may be experiencing. For almost a month now, I've had a burning sensation every time my boyfriend and I are having sex and I'm not sure if this is a result of Desogen. I hate it because when I do want to have sex I can't because it burns so much. If anyone else is experiencing this pain and taking Desogen please let me know. I'm going to the doctor soon but it would be helpful to know if anyone else is going through such frustrating pain. Thanks!
