This pill is HORRID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im only 15 and have just taked the first bown pill on the first pack and can stand it any longer. i started taking it because my periods were 7 weeks apart (no complaint there) and i had extremely heavy bleeding and incapacitating pain for two days then it would stop and i barly bled at all, so i was skeptical on weather to take it all because i had a painkiller that helps but i decided to do it anyways, i thought it might help, WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after two weeks i started bleeding heavier than ever, if that seemed possible, and horrible pain EVERY DAY. i have been bleeding for over two weeks now and with my busy schedule, its not working out. Now that i have read about it gets better after three packs, im thinking about continuing, but i don't know if its worth it, my life has turned into a living nightmare!!!!!! I just hope this continuous bleeding stops cause after over two weeks this is ridiculous. The medication i have to take for the pain is Loritab, hydrocodone, and its nerve-wracking because its a narcotic pain-killer, so i only take half of one. I got it for my ovarian cists that i had twice, and they said i could use it for this. The cists is another reason i am taking femcon Fe, but its CRAP!!!!!

I started taking birth control when I was 19 because i had severe cramps since i was 11 and also found out i had an ovarivan cyst... First I tried Kariva but I got TERRIBLE headaches everyday, so the doc switched me to Necon 1/35. I took the necon for 3 months, and each month right when I was supposed to get my period I would start throwing up all night, I ended up in the er each month cause I could not stop throwing up. So then the doc switched me to tri-nessa, I was on tri-nessa for 3 months again, first month was fine, no cramps no throwing up nothing....until the 2nd month... I started throwing up horribly again. I finally went to see a real gyno cause my pcp said she doesn't normally handle bc so she couldn't help too much. Once I saw the gyno he suggested the lowest dose bc ever or nuvaring.. Since so many pills made me sick I said Nuvaring. BOY WHAT THAT A MISTAKE! First month on nuvaring I broke out in hives. My doctor said nuvaring couldn't cause that so I continued with it. 2 weeks later, 1 week after having my period and starting the 2nd nuvaring, I was laying down and got really bad chest pains, I felt like I was having a heart attack. My bf & his mom rushed me to the er. I was there for hours and they found nothing, sent me home with painkillers...next day i started throwing up and still had chest pains, went back to the er and they said there was nothing they could do... continued to throw up all day....3am the next morning went to a different er and they said i had chestwall compressions....sent me home with the same painkiller as the other er except this one was extra strength.. continued to throw up for 4 more days and in pain...couldn't eat sleep...just kept throwing up... Finally my best friend and her bf took me to a er 40 minutes away and they said my kidneys were malfunctioning due to the 3 catscans (i told each hospital i got them done at the other er and they still decided to do them again)... got admitted to the hospital, 4 days into being there it was time for the nuvaring to come out, as soon as i took that out my kidney function levels went down, they continued to go down for 2 days and they sent me home... I called up my pharmacist and asked about all this and sure enough NUVARING can cause chest pains AND hives!!! It also says to not use if you have kidney problems... all the er docs told me nuvaring could never do that and not to take it out... if i had known I would have taken it out day 1 instead of being in & out of hospitals for 2 weeks... I WILL NEVER EVER USE NUVARING AGAIN!!!! Since I stopped using it I spot for a week then get my period for a week and every month im 2 weeks late.... birth control sucks and i will never use it again..... every month I just sit here , call out of work, and scream & cry from pain.... :(

I decided late 2006 that I was tired of the pill. I'm in my early 30's and I wanted something easier... After what I considered a good deal of research, I discussed it with my doctor and he highly recommended Mirena. We've always had a very good dr-patient relationship, and I've never had reason to not trust his opinion. He warned me the insertion could be painful (I had a LEEP procedure a year earlier), and he said I could have headaches. I've always had headaches, so I could live with that.
The insertion hurt horribly! They had to dilate me manually, and it hurt so much I though I was going to pass out. I had the worst cramps, like post childbirth cramps, even Vicodin did not help. After the cramps went away, I had heavy spotting (more than a pantyliner, but not enough for a tampon or pad). The spotting lasted for 4.5 months! I called the dr and they said it was my body getting used to it, symptoms stop after the first six months, etc. After the 5th month, the spotting stopped and my periods became very light (2-3 days) but this was short-lived. In the 7th month, I started spotting again, and the spotting would last for 5-7 days. It was disgusting, dark brown and sticky. I called the dr again, and they said it is due to the way the lining of my uterus is affected by the IUD, it's not serious. I also asked about acne. I've never had a problem before, but now I have acne (pimples big enough to scar) on my shoulders, back, and scalp. They said Mirena does not cause acne. My headaches had gone from 2 Advil to a painkiller and sleeping pill in the evening. When I mentioned weight gain, which was quickly attributed to quitting smoking. I did not believe the weight gain was due to quitting smoking, as I replaced smoking with working out. I had started working out everyday, for at least 20 minutes. I know it's not a lot, but it's better than nothing, After 2-3 months of weight gain, I added weight training 2-3 times a week. I also changed my diet to eat smaller, more balanced meals every 3 hours rather than 3 larger meals per day. I started a food journal in case I was sneaking in food I hadn't thought about. My sex drive was gone.... the 4 months of spotting started the downward spiral, but the continuing spotting, weight gain, bloating, and acne didn't help. Eventually the idea of sex disgusted me, how very sad! I noticed that I cry very easily now, and I've even had thoughts of suicide... to the point of planning it out. Even my vision has changed. In the 15 months since getting Mirena, I've gained 25 pounds, went from a size 9 (USA) to a size 14, my back and shoulders have acne scars, and I am depressed.
Thank you... From the bottom of my heart, I thank every one of you who have taken the time to detail your experiences. I finally feel vindicated, that I am not crazy, I'm not lazy, and something is truly WRONG. I'm calling my OBGYN Monday and scheduling the removal.

I have been on Avonex since Sept. 2000. I still experience some flu symptoms like chills and muscle aches. My side effects are considerably better if I take ibuprofen about an hour before my shot and then be diligent on taking the painkiller every four hours until I go to bed. My question is has anyone else been diagnosed with a benign liver mass called FOCAL NODULAR HYPERPLASIA? I received that diagnosis in May, 2006. When I called Biogen to ask if any other patients had developed this, they would only say to read the fine print.

Had dental surgery (an implant), Dentist gave me an Rx for Lortab and received a generic at the pharmacy. Dentist's instructions was to take the Lortab as his painkiller was fading to prevent any difficult pain. Took the tablet, started feeling sleepy (early afternoon) and git into bed and immediately fell asleep. When my wife checked on me, instead of expecting me lying quietly on my back. She found me in constant motion, twisting, turning one side to the other--rather hectic. When I awoke, I found sharp pains in the back of my head, across my back, and down my right side to my knee. After medical questioning and an MRI of my spine, the opinion was that I had pinched one or more nerves. This happened 2/2/08 and still with me 3/14/08. I have PT 2X a week with some relief each time, Still in pain!

Here is a new one...I have most of the above mentioned as well, mainly stomach upset..but has anyone else had problems or extreme bloating from IV narcotics or painkillers?? I broke a rib and went to ER..they gave me IV Dilaudid, another time I went to ER for severe strep throat given same IV painkiller..both time after about 10 minutes I bloated up like I was nine months and my lips turned blue and cold..I thought i was having a heart attack. Very painful...I thought it was because I no longer have my gall bladder...ER docs said that is no correlation....is it the YASMIN??? Anyone??

Hey all. I suspect many of you would agree that one of the most infuriating aspects of this antibiotic nightmare is that seemingly, there aren't many {none that I've dealt with} doctors/nurses or pharmacists that will even acknowledge the potential {and VERY REAL} side effects of these drugs.

On 01/10/08 I was put on Cipro 500mg twice daily, two week supply, for epididymitis, which likely stemmed from a bacterial infection/urinary infection back in late Oct of 07. It's an infection that can require a lengthy dosage due to eliminate bacteria growth. I was also prescribed a painkiller along with it.

That night after dosing had horrible nausea/vomiting, and chalked it up to the painkiller ... which at that point it likely was. Within a few days the groin pain from the infection had subsided a great deal, and although felt a little 'odd' from the Cipro, nothing too noteworthy. At eight days into treatment, became nauseous around the clock with bizarre flu like symptoms. I called the doctor at the ER who had diagnosed me, and she switched me to Doxycilline {sp?}, which isn't a quinolone. After stopping the Cipro, nausea disappeared. However, within a week the pain of the infection returned, apparently due to the weaker antibiotic.

So I was re-checked on 01/24/08 and put on Levaquin, 250gm once daily. Within a day or so the pain subsided once again, but on the third day developed horrible diarrhea and pain in my left knee/leg. Stopped taking it immediately, and decided to research my dilemma online, where to my horror I've discovered all sorts of people from all walks of life experiencing debilitating side effects from this grouping of fluoroquinolone/quinolones antibiotics.

I'm now on Cephalexin, and the pharmacist I spoke with today assured me that it's not part of the quinolone grouping. He also suggested that I must be part of that small pool of the populace that has trouble with quinolone antibiotics ... one begins to wonder just how "small" this pool is given how the average person isn't likely to associate muscle/joint pain with the antibiotic they're ingesting.

How this POISON has lasted so long on the market without more exposure/media coverage speaks volumes about the state of corporate America, with nearly every social system compromised {usually at the expense of the corporation's victims} , with little or no help from the corporate owned mainline media, which serves as nothing but a megaphone platform for vested intertests to transmit "official" opinion to the unwary. So here I be with very painful knee, which I should add is already compromised due to a major tibial plateau fracture in 2001.

I'd love to know whose palms are being greased to keep this rat poison available ... hell, I even had to pay over our insurance co-pay fore the Levaquin, as it's apparently a "top shelf" drug.

Good luck everyone ... and it probably doesn't need to be said, but man, I know after this I will check and double check any and every antibiotic that may be perscribed to our daughter in the future!

At first, the Mirena, which I got from the doctor at the family planning in Stock bridge, Edinburgh didn't cause me so many problems. It was painful at first possibly as I haven't had a baby and my womb must be small. I could deal with the physical pain though, I just had to take a pretty strong painkiller. Probably not good for my health though. The pains were quite weird, I could actually feel pain in my vagina and later in my ovaries. But I went to the clinic and they said it would be fine and I thought I would stick with it as it seemed like a good option. The pain happened quite regularly, during ovulation and menstruation.

After a few months, maybe 6, I was developing mood swings. I would get quite tearful and irrational and fight a lot with my partner. I even became quite violent. I was anxious and considered taking anti depressants. I also had trouble sleeping and had a lot of nightmares.

I started to get acne on my back and chest and on my face when I had never had a sort before. My skin has become slightly different as well as the lasting acne, which I cannot seem to get rid of it even having had it out for 6 months. It is gradually disappearing but is still unsightly and I feel quite upset about this. However there are still scars and the skin is not as firm and is very blotchy.

My skin was also quite noticeably itchy whilst I had the Mirena in.

My libido was very low, this affected my spirit as I didn't feel human in a way. I suffered vaginal dryness and pain during sex, when I was coaxed into it. I am only 23years old.
Now my sex drive is back to normal and I feel so relived, like a different person. I would NEVER take hormones again, especially the Mirena.

I also suffered with pains in my joints of my hands. I don't know if it is caused by the Mirena but I had never had it before and I haven't had it in a long time since a while after removal.

I lost about a stone in weight, I don't know if this is down to Mirena, but as I was a nervous wreck I didn't really manage to eat enough at times.

I have almost 100% recovered from these side effects, but have still the acne.

I was prescribed 25mg Toprol and took one pill two successive days. Immediately got a headace enough to "blow off the top of head." Shortness of breath, left side chest pain, spike in BP, and panic attacks. Twice took a painkiller which did nothing the stop the headache. Now, on the third day after last Toprol the side effects have subsided only slightly. I will be calling the dr today and better not be told it is my just my imagination!!!

January 2005 I had a work related medical, heart (EEG), blood pressure, cholesterol, gulcoses, weight perfect. Doctor mentioned I was very weezy in chest, I still smoked then as well, not anymore. I stated I was a mild hayfever & bronchical asthma sufferer, not on medication. Prescription Singulair. So I tried it!!! Initially I improved, my breathing, my reaction to different air temperatures, walking up hills, hayfever etc. March 2005 I went to the bathrm at 3am and fainted!!! I believe I was then misdiagnosised - maniac depressant, full of anxiety, even irregular levels of nervosis where detected in a brain electrodes analysis. Presciption Trazodone-antidepressant. Symptons persisted, dizziness, faintness, irregular energy levels, weight gain, bad moods, muscle tension in neck/shoulders, fear of life/social activity. I´ve stopped Singulair & in 10 days I feel a little back to normal. But I have a long way to go still, now I have to get off the antidepressants. Could all my suffering be related to Singulair????? My guest is, it is more than possible, especially after reading all the posted side effects - Merck & Sharp also produced it - look what suffering they caused with "VIOXX" - arthritic painkiller, even death!!

it made me puke for two days straight. I only took two. I think methadone is the worst painkiller you can get prescribed to you.
