500mg 3 times a day for 10 days, vomited once, have had a horrible headache that started day b4 yesterday, still kinda have it, comes in waves, sux real bad lol

i have Sinusitis, Bronchitis, and a severe respiratory infection.

i see some guy on here mad cuz the doctor didn't tell him he would have bad headaches, like the doctor was going to know in advance he would. this anti-biotic affects different ppl different ways, its really not his responsibility to go over every single side-effect this very common anti-biotic is going to have, thats why the pharmacy gives you a huge pamphlet informing you on the medication, if you would had read it then you would see that headache, diarrhea, and constipation are all common side-effects

i didn't read it however, until i came here and read what i read, which is comforting really cuz at least i know why i have the headache so bad, and why i lost my lunch yesterday, was actually worried maybe i had an infection in my brain and thats why i had it, i know, sounds dumb, but what can i say, im paranoid lol

The experience my daughter had is all the same as others, her situation happen when she was on her menstrual, first she seen the string and the plastic passed in a blood clot the size of a fifty cent piece, I could not believe it, I am going to file against them, in reading the pamphlets there are no side affects saying that the Mirena will fall out!!!!!! (A mom that is MAD AS HELL) she also stayed with headache, stomach cramps, even when she didn't have her menstrual (before and after).

I have had Mirena for 18 months now. I love it. I have had no side effects that you all are describing. I have 4 friends that switched and all love it and only one had to have a follow up to have the strings shortened.

As far as the weight gain, ladies, let’s be honest. We are not 18 anymore and as we get older it is only going to become more difficult to keep weight off. Blaming it on a B/C....lets think about that last chocolate bar we ate because we were busy carting the kids off to a sports practice HMMM....
With any drug comes side effects, headaches, nausea, and some other terribly worse, but lets again be honest, all of these were pointed out in the literature available.

I just thought I would take the time to write my support as this does work and work well for some women, just not all, same as any other form of B/C.

cannot believe how many stories I have read about mirena and hair loss etc..etc.. etc.. I have experienced many of the side effects that everyone is mentioning.. I actually feel I could live with most of them if it weren't for the hair loss. I have had ( copying from other post.. ridiculous right?)Tired all the time ~ Depression ~ Hungry all the time ~ leg cramps ~ HAIR LOSS TO THE POINT OF BALDING IN SEVERAL AREAS ~ oily skin and bad breakouts ~ Mood swings (huge...yelling fits at my husband and the kids) ~ fluttering in uterus~Sore breasts.. I have medium thick hair that is about 10 inches. I noticed a bald spot in June and now have discovered 4-5 others starting. I just had the iud removed today and my OB pretty much tried to convince me that there is no way that the IUD is causing my issues. I have never had any of these issues before. I got the Mirena on 4/30 of 08 and noticed slowly but surely all of the side effects mentioned. My OB told me that the progesterone could not be causing my issues because it is such a small dosage that it would be comparable to spitting in the ocean as far as the amount that is in my blood stream. She said because I am black and 35 that I may have an autoimmune disorder and that I should stop reading blogs. I told her that all of my research wasn't from a blog and that ALOPECIA is a side effect just not mentioned in my pamphlet that I can find. I understand what she is saying and that she is the one that is the dr. but nobody knows my body better than I do.. I am in it!! I have !never had any problems and have been healthy my entire life. There is no history of autoimmune disease in my family. I am going to my primary care doctor.. to have some blood tests done. I think that the mirena has caused an autoimmune response in my body.. it may not necessarily be the progesterone..although I don't rule it out no matter what she says . the progesterone is synthetic and has an androgynous like activity that is similar to testosterone the main thing that causes male pattern baldness. also Mirena is made out of Silicone.. perhaps those of us that are having hair loss are having it due to our body trying to fight off the foreign invader of the IUD itself. I was going to go and have the Paragard inserted.. because i was thinking it may just be the progesterone.. nope... I read that many women are complaining of ACNE and HAIRLOSS even with that because its made out of copper. So with that being said.. not sure what to do.. may have to go back on Yasmin.. didn't seem to have any problems with that.. I really just don't want to risk putting another hormone in my body.. We all need to get together and look into a class action suit because I am tired of being made to feel crazy by doctors.. sometimes what seems to not be possible is .. especially when there are so many women having the same problem. Feel free to e-mail me re: a class action suit.. if they took depo off Mirena needs to come of too. It seems like it has really screwed a lot of peoples system up.. Hopefully I won't find out I know have a thyroid problem etc.. etc..

I have had my Mirena since May of 2007, at first it was wonderful then about 1 year in I started gaining weight, particularly in my mid section. My mood swings were out of control, anxiety, restlessness, joint pain, acne. I spoke to my doctor and told my stomach issues were probably IBS and acne was probably stress or hormones. I was put on lexapro for the mood swings and anxiety. I have been watching what I eat and working out and nothing has helped. Finally last week I decided to do some research on my own and googled "midsection weight" and articles linking this to mirena flooded my screen. I spent the rest of the day reading and called my doctor the next day. I have an appointment tomorrow to have it removed, I will keep you posted. Part of my is angry that these side effects were not listed in the pamphlet I received from the doctor but another part is so relieved to have found an answer to the madness.

As I read these posts I want to S C R E A M! This drug is like a slow death from Arsenic. If your Memory is impaired, it should be. It's listed as one of the side affects right inside the pamphlet that the Pharmacist gets. I have a Pharmacist friend and she read me, muscle pain, joint pain, muscle twitching and on and on. It's poison for sure and anyone on it should get off it ASAP. My husband's been off for one year next week and he still experiences mental sluggishness and cognitive deficits. So much so, he's retired because he could no longer do his job. It creeps in on you slowly, and insidious. When you start to notice, you're scared to say anything or you don't associate it with this drug. Guess what, the only drug he's ever taken. And, oh yeah, lead to depression. This is a centrally active Ace Inhibitor that cross the blood brain barrier and is literally poisoning you. Actually, there is a derivative from a Brazilian Pit Viper. Synthetic or not, it's poison. Get off people, get off. It will eventually affect your memory more and more until you resemble some form of dementia. Maybe that's why so many people are sitting in Nursing Homes with full blow dementia. The disease that caused it are the DRUGS you're taking.
Get off.

For those of you who are ridiculing the ladies who are sharing their personal stories on here, shame on you. I'm GLAD you are happy with your Mirena and that you are not having problems with it. That does not change the fact that many women have suffered due to their Mirena and want women who are considering birth control options to be aware of the symptoms that the company and doctors deny.

I had absolutely no pain with placement of my Mirena 2 years ago, and removal was a breeze. I had no periods after the initial, short and light period I had after placement - which was AWESOME. However, I gained a lot of weight, I was incredibly moody, and had no energy or sex drive. It got worse with time to the point I was considering antidepressant medication. We decided we want to have another baby so I had it removed 4 days ago. AMAZING! My husband could tell that very afternoon that I felt good. I had energy to spare, my appetite was down and despite the stress of traveling 7 hours with a 6 and 2 year-old to visit family this weekend I was able to hold my temper in check and have a good time with my family. No one will convince me, or my husband, that Mirena - though it served its purpose well - only causes the side effects we're warned about in the pamphlet. There's too many of us complaining about the same things for it to be coincidence. For those of you who aren't experiencing these symptoms I am truly happy for you... but do not make the rest of us feel like whiners or like we're in the pocket of some other birth control company trying to scare women away from Mirena.

I'm so frustrated with the Depo injections in general. I received my first injection Nov '03...I was 19 years old it was highly recommended to me at the Health Dept because I'm a lazy pill taker and at the time I questioned the side effects, but the general pamphlet I received mentioned NOTHING of bone depletion being a side effect... and after the first few months of constant irregular bleeding, things were great, no periods, no pill, I was okay with gaining the 20lbs for it...about one year in one of my molars just randomly chipped, my dentist told me it wasn't anything to worry about, it didn't need a filing...less than two months later the tooth cracked down the center... I needed a root canal...one year later during my routine visit my dentist found 5 more molars that needed root canals.... 6 months later all my filings began coming out one by one... My dentist said I wasn't taking care of my teeth, but I brush 3 times a day and floss!! It's been 6 years since I started Depo injections, last year in Sept '08 during my yearly, the OBGYN looks at my file and says "oh I hadn't realized you've been on the Depo 5yrs, you need to take a year off, let your body rest" then she handed my some pill packs and a jar of calcium supplements and sent me on my way. I never even knew about the Depo Black Box Warning, now I realize why my teeth are falling out... I need a filing or root canal on every single tooth in my mouth, they are rotting from the inside out....I've put 7grand in my mouth so far... I can't even afford to keep up with it anymore... I wish I had known what not having a period was going to cost me. I'm 25 years old and I look like I've been doing Meth since I was 19.

I'm right now getting ready to have my third baby, and I just wanted to thank everyone who posted their experiences with Mirena. I was considering trying Mirena, since I had so many problems with the pill. After reading what you all had to say (that I must add, was NOT in the pamphlet), I'm seriously thinking about checking into something else.

So I've been reading all of your posts here and finally decided to share my experience. When I got the mirena put in about 7 weeks after my son was born back in the beginning of September the procedure went easy. It just felt like a little cramp then it was over. Before it was inserted tho, they gave me 2 Advil. The Dr. also had me quickly read the pamphlet about the mirena. All that I read sounded like it would be all good so I said ok to having it inserted. After the insertion I went home about an hour or 2 later I started cramping and bleeding. I figured it was ok until it only got worse. I cramped really bad like I was in labor again for about a week. I wanted to call, but stubborn me wanted to stick it out. Well after that calmed down a bit I had irregular bleeding for months after that. Each time I bled or had my period it hurt really bad. Each period also lasted for 10 days about. I finally made an appt. with my regular Dr. and she just gave me Tylenol 3's. This was at about the 6 month mark of having it in. Also by then I started suffering severe anxiety and depression. I had terrible mood swings and crying spells. Well about a month after that I went back because I needed something for all that stuff and the pain had gotten worse. My whole body hurt. So she gave me percocets, valium and effexor xr 150 mgs. I also noticed when they took my vitals this time and the last my temp was 99.4 and my blood pressure was in the 130's one time and the 140's another time. My pulse was also 111 once and 118 another time. Well about two weeks after that second appt. I developed a urinary infection and after I went in for the 3rd time and my urine was tested it came back severe infection. My vitals were 99.6 and 156 for pressure and 109 for pulse. Mind you each time my vitals were never mentioned or even a concern to the docs. Just I noticed it seemed. Well after I took the 10 day antibiotics the urinary pain went away but not my fever and I had really bad body aches. I went back to the Dr. and was given vicodin and was ordered blood tests. My vitals were all high again. I did the blood tests, made an appt. for 2 weeks later to get results and went home and suffered still. When I went back for my results the only finding was my B12 level was low. I wasn't told how low or what to do. So I got all my meds refilled and went home. I went and bought B12 vit.s. I decided to look up B12 online. Then I made an appt. to go back and get more details of it. She told me the level was 168 and she decided to get me a shot that lasts for a month and refilled my vicodin. A week later I felt a little better, but still had symptoms going on. That's when I thought about the mirena being the problem and stumbled on this site and other sites about mirena neg. side affects. I have severe acne, a low grade fever for 4 months, high pulse rate, high blood pressure, mood swings, depression, anxiety, bloating that looks like I'm pregnant and have been asked 3 times when is my baby due. I am 5ft 3in and weigh 129 so I am not fat all over just my stomach is so bloated and fat that it makes me look pregnant. I bleed for 10 days, I have NO libido, I feel strange sensations in my stomach like a baby moving, but I am not pregnant, Iove had nausea, loss of appetite, yet I can,t lose any weight, I am tired a lot, body aces, joint pain, nerve pain, tension in my neck and shoulders, headaches and low B12 levels which don't normally happen to anyone until they are over 50. Well 2 days ago after reading on this, I decided I have had it and couldn't take it anymore and took the damn thing out myself. It didn't hurt at all, in fact I couldn't even feel it coming out. It came out so easy. I don't recommend anyone doing this themselves, I am simply telling my story. I started what seems to be a period this morning. It's very normal so far. I plan on going to my new Dr. I'm getting soon and getting a check up and a pap since I'm due for one. I feel pretty good so far. No problems and I'm relieved that piece of plastic is out of me and look forward to getting my life back. Good luck to all of you!!

I have had the Mirena in me since August of 08 and the day they put it in I never received even a pamphlet. It took the doctor over 30 minutes to get it in me and he asked me if I still wanted it while he was having trouble putting it in. He was the doctor and he should have known.
I was never told to come back for checkups or anything just that it had to come out in 5 years. He told me of no side effects or anything. So thinking it was the best I had it put in. I cramped for 4 days after. I bled really bad and finally it went away. Well then just the past couple of months since my periods started getting lighter all my symptoms are getting worse.
My symptoms include : fatigue, stomach cramping so severe I can hardly walk, mood swings, depression, weight gain and constipation ,my feet go numb all the time and if I stand for a long time to, also have like a stabbing pain in my chest (rare) and Im beginning to not have any sex drive.

Calling the doctor tom to have it removed because I thought all this was in my head until I have researched it past the website.

I am 26 years old, 5’6” and weigh 112 lbs. I have had the Mirena in since June 2008. Where do I start? This IUD was suggested to be by my OBGYN after the birth of my second baby. I really trust my OB so I agreed to have it inserted. I made a quick decision with LOTS of emotions behind it (I got pregnant with my second baby when my first was only 5 months old…so I was a little freaked out by the thought of getting pregnant for the third time in the near future). I can only take one other hormone-based form of birth control (the pill with NO estrogen), so this seemed like the answer to me. I was given a Mirena pamphlet from my OB, and it did NOT list several of the side effects that I have experienced over the last year. The insertion was indeed pretty painful. To me, it felt like I was having pretty strong contractions. It took about 20 minutes from start to finish. I had cramping and steady bleeding for the first 3 months. I then had no period for about 6 months, which was nice. I did, however, completely lose my sex drive. I am always tired, moody, irritable, and emotional (all of which are not common for me to experience on a regular basis). I have trouble focusing and thinking of the right word I want say. I have mild but annoying acne on my face and neck, eczema on my hands, elbows and a few spots on my legs. I have knee pain when I run/jog, and I just don’t feel like myself. I am in perfect health otherwise, and no history of the above symptoms that I listed. Currently, I have a normal period every month that lasts a week (before they only lasted about 4 days), then a week after it stops, it starts up again. I called my doctor and they say that’s normal. After intercourse, I have cramping and bleeding (that’s a fairly new symptom). So imagine having sex when you don’t feel like it whatsoever and then knowing that you will have cramping and bleeding afterwards…sign me up!! My husband has been so patient with me, but has finally had it. He wanted me to look into it and make an appointment. I am so thankful that I found this site. I was so worried when I didn’t have a sex drive and I felt myself blaming my husband for things that I assumed he was thinking. I have been praying about it and know that God led me to this site to see what other women are suffering from and going through with this IUD. Aside from all of its nasty side effects, I wanted to let all of you know what I have discovered could happen to an unborn baby if the mother has an IUD. First of all, if you become pregnant, you need to get down to your doctor right away and have it removed. However, there are no guarantees that during the process of the removal, they won’t bump the baby causing either a miscarriage or birth defects. That just breaks my heart. To me, it’s not worth it. The other thing that worries me is that, after getting it removed, are my chances of having a perfectly healthy baby in the future lessened because I had a foreign object inserted into my body? No one can say for sure. It’s just something that time can only tell. I really would discourage with all of my heart, NOT TO GET THE MIRENA or any form of IUD.
Anyway, I have an appointment scheduled on August 18 (wish it was sooner). My insurance doesn’t see this as an emergency or life-threatening, so I have to pay my full detectable of $200 to have it removed. That kept me from doing it a few weeks ago. I now know that you can’t put a price on the happiness of your marriage, your health, and the health of the baby that you could very well become pregnant with. I wish you all the best and will definitely update you on the removal and how I feel. God Bless. SAO

I had Mirena put in 2 days ago for post menopausal progesterone to balance the estrogen. My gynecologist said that absorption of progesterone into the systemic circulation was minimal, but when I read the pamphlet that came with it, it was clear that there are many possible side effects, but I'd already paid for the thing in advance, so I went ahead. I've had bloating, nausea, can't hardly eat, fever, feel sick all over since then. On top of this I'm being treated for chronic Lyme, and the treatment for that can cause you to feel like crap. I'm thinking about having it taken out right away not that I've read what you ladies are writing.

I had Mirena inserted about 3 months ago and have been consistently gaining weight since then. I initially wrote it off as anything else besides this drug because the pamphlet is very clear that weight gain is not a side effect and I talked to 2 gyns and they insisted the same thing. So I had my thyroid checked and started eating better and increased my exercising, I am a personal trainer so I already do these things pretty intensely, but I have stepped it up to slow the weight gain. I am up 8 pounds in three months which makes me crazy. Yet I am hesitant to get it out since it was so insanely expensive and not knowing for sure that it is the mirena. So any of you who have had it removed could you comment on if your excess weight that you did put on has come off or not. Besides this frustration, I have loved it, but it makes it difficult to build my business as a personal trainer if I am gaining weight.

It's nice to know that I'm not alone..

I got Mirena in November 08, and since then I've developed a plethora of unpleasant side-effects. Initially, I couldn't put them all together. As I'd had a fainting spell and some restless legs a few months prior to getting Mirena, I've been concerned that all of my symptoms were stemming from a nutritional deficiency like folate or b12 anemia. Nothing seemed to quite fit exactly right though, and I take vitamins regularly, so I was perplexed until last night. After googling "tingly feet" and "heartbeat" I stumbled onto one of these forums.

I have felt like a crazy person all of this year, and I am now quite certain that it's from Mirena. Feeling foolish that I didn't see this sooner.. but I guess I we perceive what we want to, and I was happy to have easy birth control.

I've NEVER had heart palpitations, this kind of foggy-headedness, anxiety like this, unexplainable nausea, tingling in my feet, or depression before. My dizziness and fatigue alone had me fearing for my health, and my extreme mood swings had me fearing for my life.

I'm getting this removed as soon as possible.
Clearly I could've done my pre-Mirena research better, but the pamphlet and pep-talk I was given did not mention everything that I've been going through. I'm a little pissed, to be honest.. but mainly relieved.

I think I'm going back to the Nuvaring.. I'd rather bleed than be a dysfunctional, ill, zombie-person.

My wife had Mirena for 2 weeks. Severe cramping. Went to her Dr. and he discovered it came loose and had gone into uterus. While in thee, ir perforated uterine lining. Last night she had Hyseeroscopy and lathroscopy to find where it had gone. It was found resting on top of her uterus. Again, if ALL side-effects had been communicated to us, she prob wouldn'tve wound up in the OR last night.

Well reading all of this is very scary to me. I'm 23 years old and have never had a kid and have never been on any birth control before. I thought it would be a wise decision for it since i'm starting to get serious with my boyfriend and we have sex, but he never ejaculates in me...mostly because he cannot ejaculate from sexual intercourse the only way is thru oral or a hand job (sorry for the TMI lol). I have an appointment on July 1, 2009 to get the Mirena in place. My OBGYN doc told me Mirena was the best thing for me because I am on high blood pressure medication. I've always kind of had my doubts about this type of birth control and she didn't really explain the side effects that much, she just gave me the little pamphlet about it which of course makes it sound like the best thing ever. I am going to another place to have it put in because I have no health insurance and they do it for free. Well...I had to have a consultation with that doc and she did explain the cramping and it may hurt when it's put in, and the spotting but that's it. I almost kind of felt like I was pressured into it. After about 10 minutes the doc was like ok lets get you set up. I'm having very very serious thoughts about calling and canceling this appointment. I like who I am now and I think I would rather risk it and use a condom than ruin my life. Thanks for the help everyone.

I just wanted to thank all you ladies for posting your experiences and side effects. I had my son 7 weeks ago and at my 6 week check-up the OB was telling me this birth control would be perfect for me with very little side effects. I had a traumatic labor and my body is still under construction, so I don't need anything else doing a number on my body. So glad I found this website, the Mirena pamphlet is going in the trash. I'll just have to take the regular pill.

Avelox 400 MG was prescribed for me after treating a severe upper
respiratory infection and a terrible coughing that was unproductive.
I was exhausted from the coughing and had gone to the Dr. for 3 days
in a row for a penicillin injection, while also taking a milder antibiotic. He took me off of it and prescribed the Avelox when I was not responding to treatment. .
I took the first pill at 6:30 in the evening ( one per day for 7 days ) was
the script. In reading the pamphlet that came with the script, I was
already frightened of the side effects, before coming online to read the horror stories. I am a strong person mentally, and physically I do not
generally have side effects with medication. About 6 hours after taking the first pill, I went to bed hoping I would not have hallucinations as others said they had. Somehow I went right to sleep and slept for nearly 8 hours. No hallucinations.
I was fine all the next day, even beginning to cough up some of the phlegm etc that was down there. I figured the medicine was working to break it up a bit and was glad. I took the second pill at 6:30 that evening and went to bed around 12:30. I found it harder to get to sleep, and woke up several times with my throat very dry, and drank some more water. I wound up a total of about 4 hours sleep and was up at 5:AM. Around 9:00 AM I sat down to watch some news on TV and within a few seconds of having turned the TV on, a horrible panic came over me which I had never experienced in my life. My hands were shaking, and my legs had turned to rubber, and my MIND, it was as if I were someone else and could not think clearly at all. The feeling worsened until I thought I would not be able to return to my normal self. Tried to be calm so as not to add to the situation, but found I had no control over it. This episode lasted about and hour and a half. It was now 3 hours ago that it happened, and my legs are still a bit rubbery, hands still a bit shaky, but my mind is clearing up. I called the doctor and told him I wouldn't be taking any more of these pills. I don't mind a few mild side effects if that were the case, but certainly nothing that plays with my mind. I am now terrified of these pills and would not recommend them to anyone. I pray I will be able to get better on another antibiotic that has worked for me in the past.

OK, So me and my husband decided to get Mirena b/c we got married in 05, a year later had our daughter, and a year later had our son. I feel like for us, if left to our own discipline, will just keep having child after child after child. Seriously, for us, it doesn't take long to get pregnant. I sympathize greatly with women out there who long to have babies but can't, I do... but I am just not one of them. Both of my pregnancies were so pleasant! No morning sickness with either child, about only 20 lbs of healthy weight gain, etc. For me, being pregnant is a blast. However, the aftermath that pregnancy has on my body is not so pleasant. I can safely say that I will NEVER wear a bikini ever again and I'm surrounded by friends who "bounce back" so quickly and are in bikini's two months after having their baby. In 05, the year my husband and I got married, at age 22, I was hospitalized, put on life support and had liver damage. I was jaundice, and my liver enzymes were through the roof. My doctors almost put me on a donor list. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with me but eventually concluded that I picked up a virus from a recent missions trip to Macedonia and that it would eventually flush itself out of my system. It did, to the glory of God. I get blood drawn yearly to check liver enzymes, and since I've been pregnant (thank God with healthy pregnancies and deliveries) I just figured I've been healthy. My husband has since graduated college and is starting a small business, and with a 2 year old and a 4 month old and the economy, we just DO NOT want more kids right now. Getting on Mirena seemed to be the best option for us. I read the pamphlet, asked around, and made my decision fairly quickly since my husband and I were already back at "it" 7 weeks after my son was born. Not smart, I know, but what can I say. I can say this: Mirena has not effected my sex drive. :) Insertion was not fun! I had bleeding for about 2 months, but my son was also exactly 8 weeks when I got it so my body wasn't exactly acting normally anyway. I heard to expect bleeding. No big deal. It eventually went away and now I've had it for about 3 months. The first couple weeks I was a BEAR! Has anyone seen the SNL skit for "Annuale," (or something like that)? That's exactly what I felt like. But that went away. My son is four months old and I feel like I am gaining a lot of weight. My husband and I picked up everything and moved across country for his job and that's been stressful, so I figured weight gain was due to that. I haven't had any depression or laziness, but I always feel exhausted. I figure it's from having a toddler and a newborn. I'm sure that's part of it. But I have a membership to Lifetime and I had a session with a trainer and they gave me a nutrition regimen and core exercises b/c my belly just doesn't seem to be going back down. I'm a petite person, but I have A LOT of body fat, since during my hospitalization I had severe muscle atrophy. This is not healthy! Mainly I don't want any more kids, at least for a while, b/c I want my health back! I want to be around for my kids! Lately I've been experiencing twinges and pains around where my liver is at and I can't seem to lose ANY weight. I feel like I'm only gaining. I know excess weight, especially in your core, carries with it a lot of health risks. I finally googled weight gain and liver side effects with Mirena and found this website. Reading all your posts I'm strongly considering getting Mirena taken out and making an appointment with an OB-GYN and a hepatologist (liver doctor) just to make sure everything is OK. I need to lose weight! But I really don't want to have any more kids! I'm afraid to get off of it. I'm afraid to stay on it. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions??

I am 23 and never used to experience heartburn until I had my gallbladder removed last June. So at my Dad's recommendation, I bought the generic brand of Prilosec which was Omeprazole from Target. I was using it as the pamphlet instructed, (1) 20MG tablet for (14) days. Today is my 10th day and the only side effect that I believe I am experiencing is vivid nightmares. I have been taking birth control pills and a multivitamin for a long time now and because I just started with the Omeprazole, that is the only explanation I can come up with. That is how I found this site because I was trying to see if it was a common side effect. I have only experienced the nightmares for the past three nights however, I dream several different scenarios within a night. The last time I experienced consecutive nightmares was about 2-3 years ago when I was taking Lexapro for anxiety in which I had them for six months straight! As for the frequent heartburn -- it has disappeared but now I am afraid of continuing it in the future because of the massive list of complaints from other users. Just when I thought my problem was solved...you're damned if you do and damned if you don't!

YAY!!!! I had my Mirena removed today!!! I feel so much better already! I went to my appt. armed with information. My OB/GYN is a great guy! He was so happy to remove it for me and said that 5% of women have problems with the Mirena. I personally think that number is quite a bit higher but at any rate I had copied down several websites for him and also a nurses' post about her symptoms and problems and I copied my own post and printed all this off and took it with me to the appt. I gave it to him and he looked over it briefly. He told me that I sounded like a completely different person from my appt. last week. I explained to him that it was because it was so "freeing" to know that I'm not psychotic and that I was going to be my old self again once he removed the stupid Mirena. He agreed because he knows the real me (I've had 5 of my 8 children delivered by him). He knows how much I love being a mom and that I am NOT normally a depressed person! He saw my list of symptoms and agreed that they don't tell you all those possible side effects in the pamphlet. When he was all done the nurse went to put the papers I had given him in my file and he told her no way. He told her to put them on his desk because he wanted to make the websites available to his other patients who might be considering the Mirena so that they will be informed before making their decision. What an awesome doctor!!!
