The Health & disability commissioner in NZ has received my complaint of criminal negligence re my former doctor. They have now asked my former doctor for a please explain his version of events. The police have written to me saying they are seeking medical advice re criminal/negligence/failing to carry out professional duties complaint. Whilst I agree with everyone's feelings on big pharma, it is my very firm opinion that the doctor is the "retailer" and it is the doctor's direct responsibility to us the customer/patient to monitor and inform us of all safety concerns. Big pharma in covering their butts have warned the doctors to warn the patients. Of the 8 doctors including an anesthetist I have spoken with socially and in consultation, not a single doctor could name any adverse effects with statins beyond mild muscle pain. Given the warnings from pharma on the labels that is wholly shameful & negligent. An effective way to help others avoid being maimed like us, is to fight back from the bottom. The FDA and CARM in NZ take no notice, litigation is expensive and drawn out so neither really helps future innocent victims. I encourage everyone where negligence is fairly on the table to take your complaints to your country's police and medical discipline bodies enough of these complaints will soon have the doctor's "reading & obeying instructions" which would go a long way to preventing more tragic victims.

Anyone aware that the book "Eat Right for Your Type" (Peter D'Adamo)mentions that certain blood types should avoid fluoroquinolone antibiotics? My dad had type B or AB, not sure, and suffered severe side effects to Levaquin. I am sure that these are the types that must avoid these drugs.

I took 400 mg of Topamax for about 5 months for migraines. It did help some when seroquel and verapimil were added to it at the end. I had a severe psychotic reaction and was diagnosed as bipolar. The dr wanted to put me on a high dose and let me spend the rest of my life twiddling my thumbs rather than admit Topamax was the cause. These psychotic event have been documented since the 90's.
It took me 3 years to regain my typing ability. I still scramble some words 4 years later. I proof read, but I may have missed some errors in this post. Thanks you Topamax!!

Hi,
I posted the paragraph below a few weeks ago. I just wanted to give an update. I went to a neurologist and he pinpointed the cause of the headache to being TMJ (jaw disorder). He diagnosed it by having me open my mouth, dropping my jaw and he pressed on the sides of my jaw up by my ear which was very painful. It caused all the headache symptoms, sinus like pain, back of head/neck and shoulder pain and tightness along with ear popping and some dizziness. We still don't know what caused the TMJ ( I still suspect it might be Yasmin since this developed a few days after I started taking it, no history of grinding teeth). It is starting to get better after 5 weeks since it started and 3 weeks of no Yasmin. Just thought I would share this in case it helps anyone with similar symptoms.
Previous post:
" I started Yasmin generic (ocella) 3 weeks ago. After a few days I developed a headache that feels like constant pressure around my temples, eyebrows and in between nose. It does not go away with pain killers. I have no history of reoccurring headaches and when I have gotten one advil usually takes care of it. After 2 weeks I decided to stop Ocella to see if that was the reason. I still have the headache a week later. I went to the dr. yesterday and he said it wasn't a sinus headache which I thought it might be. He said it might be a migraine even though it doesn't sound like a typical one. If it doesn't go away this weekend I'll have to get a Cat scan and maybe MRI. Does this sound familiar to anyone who got headaches from Yasmin? "

Well, I've had some hair loss on Diovan 80mg. been on it since about May 08 - had some leg cramps, even some joint pain, but that seems to have reconciled itself. Not too overly dizzy, some tiredness, but ok otherwise. However, got concerned about the hair loss....long/short, Dr. prescribed Toprol XL/Beta Blocker (he's been great recognizing my sensitivity to meds. I just am),...well, my God, just reading the Toprol printout first paragraph and let me tell you it ain't gonna happen, I am not taking that stuff....plus, it causes hair loss, DUH! In fairness, how can we expect the Drs. to know fully all the side affects, they are not pharmacists - best thing, educate yourself first with websites like this, and the FDA site before you ever fill a prescription again. Anyway, I'm going to stick with Diovan for a while longer and see how things go - will post again. Hang in there, because there's even worse out there!

I posted a paragraph at the end of June, after my son had been off Singulair a short while, but enough for me to notice the difference in his behavior. He's 11 and became so aggressive on Singulair that it was affecting the whole family. Well, we took a vacation with my family and they mentioned, on their own, that they saw a change in my son. We were not talking about singulair or anything like that. They just said that they saw a change in him. How nice!!!! I also realized that, finally, he was not having any more nightmares. His behavior changed immediately, thank goodness. The nightmares, well that took a little longer. I can live with that! Hang in there everyone else!!!

just started taking Adderall, though i am not prescribed. I went to my doctor and asked for it but she said no. I explained that I am often overwhelmed at work, I am a case manager and keeping on task with all of the work is hard. My doctor said when she was in med school, med students used to take it for that purpose. So anyway i bought 5 pills from a coworker. I seem to have super human energy, get all types of work done and stay focused all day. On the down side, in 5 days I have lost 3lbs., I want to lose weight, but not that fast. I have what I consider to be Adderall hangovers the next day, where I am extremely tired. I also have noticed severe headaches, every day that I have taken it, I crash by the end of the day at work and cant wait to get home, because I am so tired. My neck aches, and I had to change to a firmer chair at work, because all of a sudden my back is killing me, I also get insomnia and have to counteract the Aderall with Tylenol pm just to get to sleep. These side effects freak me out, and I don't know if I want to again ask my doctor for a script, but I get so much done at work, and I am heading back for grad school, I just don't know what to do? oh yeah, the pills that I bought were Adderall XR 30 mg.

I have a typo in the post below in the first paragraph...
I meant to put HOWEVER on my saliva test my TESTOSTERONE level was 11. Then the rest of that paragraph relates to testosterone.
Sorry,

Responding to the latest poster.
No, no improvement for me in 6 months.
So sorry to have to say that. For you and I and the rest of us.
I just came back from a rheumotologist who has done many, many tests on me. I shared with him my belief that this all started within 1 or 2 days of taking only one medicine ( and after not taking "any" other medicine at all for 1 or more years before this ) and that is Levaquin.
Immediately the subjcect of psychiatric help was brought up by him and his feeling that it is very easy to read other peoples emotional responses such are posted on this board into your own situation.
He did give me the time and chance to at least present the idea to him regarding the "fact" that all of this began shortly after I started taking my 6 day dose of Levaquin. When I told him about the thousands of "exactly" matching experiences by you other posters, he shifted in his seat and stopped me and told me what I just recounted in the previous paragraph.
After repeating individually all the medical tests that have come back negative on me and repeating his hope that I get back on anti-depressants, he then shook my hand with a look of pity on his face and said something like, I hope that my allowing you to unload your concerns on me helped.
I am 54. I am not so ignorant that I don't understand and appreciate the importance of relying on well tested, scientifically solid and proven facts when it comes to making decisions about almost everything. But there is something wrong here. I can sense it. And yet no doctor will give "any' weight to what you and I and others are honestly pouring out here on these boards.
The "fact" that thousands of people are saying the same thing after almost all of them report only one thing in common ( the taking of Levaquin and or Cipro and usually just this one medicine alone ) is simply emotionally unstable nonsense motivated
by people who are suffering from something other than Levaquin or Cipro side effects and proabably mental in nature.
And their physical testing results are thier God of logic here.
If 500,000 people were reporting what we are reporting, and they didn't have the 30 different clinical test results to back this up they would probably say this was some form of mass hysteria.
It is a very sad and actually frightening statement about the almost crazy mind closing mentality of our medical community and their educational conditioning.
Of course there aren't many studies and clinical test results of people who have had such serious side effects like ours from Levaquin and Cipro. These powerful antibitoics haven't been around for decades and there is proabably 100,000 times more money behind trying to prove these drugs work and are fine and "not" that dangerous, than the monetary amounts and motivations behind trying to show that they are indeed much more danagerous and damaging than anyone will admit.
My depression and anxiety took off "after" I started taking Levaquin, not before! My leg weakness and soreness and other limb pain is "not" coming from my depression. And all these other unprecedented and extreme cases of insomnia, itching arms and scalp, weird wincing pains, stomach problems, shuddering, tremors, weird pulse rates, incredibly heightened sensitivity to cold and then immediate turns to feeling too hot, uncoordinatided gate and a few other carzy symprtoms started only after 1 or 2 days of a 6 days dose of Levaquin for me. And I have never, ever experienced anything like this before in my life ( with the exception of a few panic attacks, like who hasn't had those ) until I started taking this Levaquin.
I have written to so many major media outlets asking them to start looking into this situation of ours and so many like us. I will "never" just cave and accept my devastatingly changed life by simply accepting every doctors explanation that I am just a loon because their test results aren't shwoing them any results that would explain this.
WRITE...write to everyone you can about this. There is massive money behind trying to make you believe there is nothing wrong here. Stand up and be courageous here. You may have to take anti-depressants in the search for the truth and cure...but what other choice do we all have? JB

Im 25 years old. After my daughter was born in November 2008, I decided on the Mirena because Im terrible at remembering to take pills. So, Ive had it for about 9 months, maybe 10. I just recently started getting acne excessively bad. I thought I was pregnant again and I had to get back on my Pro-Active. I also started getting this really dry, gross spots on my head and they itched SO bad. I went to the dermatologist and she diagnosed me with Psoriasis. But, after reading all the side-effects, it makes me wonder if its caused from this birth control. I have spoken to my husband and he told me to have it taken out. Did I mention that I can't lose ANY weight. Which makes me feel like crap! But thats another paragraph. Anyways, Im really glad this website is on here because it really give me the insight on real people who are going through the same side effects as me!
