Okay, I figured I would put this out there. I am normally high strung but I am fairly flexible and try to go with the flow, if I get upset or confronted, I cry. I have been on Nuvaring for almost 3 months and didn't make the connection until the other night. Lately I have wanted to hit things, I am mad constantly about things that never used to bother me, I want to scream, I want to throw things. 2 days ago, I did, I got upset with my husband and ran through the house screaming like a lunatic (not caring if I woke my daughter) I slammed my fists in to the wall multiple times, I threw things and knocked stuff of the fridge, I told my husband (a VERY patient man) that I wanted to pummel him with the alarm clock, finally I sat in the kitchen and cried for 1/2 hour. It hit me, this all started right around the time I got on Nuvaring. I took it out last night and already had calmed down and have high hopes of returning to my normal loving self. The difference is like night and day, I can't believe the mood swings I had, I was getting violent which I have never done before in my life. I will be looking into something else b/c it is just not worth it. Good luck all, I know being female is SO much fun some times!!!!!!

I am 27 had my Mirena inserted May 05 as I could no longer take the pill and I was diagnosed with endometriosis. It's known as a preventative for the spreading of endometriosis due to the lack of menstrual bleeding. I've not had menstrual bleeding since August 05 and not suffered from any side effects. I thought it was the best contraceptive ever invented, so happy with it.To think no periods, cramps, remembering to take the pill and not to forget how much money I've saved over the past years by not having to buy contraception or female toiletries. How ever I've had four UTI's since the Mirena was inserted. I never suffered from UTI's before the mirena was inserted. I have not changed my hygiene practises, fluid intake and I'm having less intercourse. So is it caused by the mirena??? I can't be sure but I'm am very suspicious. Think I'll consult my Gynecologist

I had my Mirena inserted 6 weeks after I had my son (14 months ago) at the suggestion of my o.b. (she was using one also).... had I known then what I know now, my post partum birth control decision would have gone in a totally different direction! Insertion was very painful! Sex with my husband was awkward at first, mainly because he could feel the strings (they are wires!!!) poking him during deep insertion... After several weeks of getting used to the mirena, the nightmares started in! Sleepless nights, tossing, turning, dreaming about my fears and insecurities, and waking up sore... feeling like I had been run over by a truck! Moodiness and quick tempered feelings also came with the little devil... wanting to kill my husband and children over the littlest things like not eating all their dinner or not picking up their laundry...stupid stuff? My husband kept asking me why I was so angry, mean and hurtful...these are not traits I usually possess! I had become a bundle of tired, bitchy nerves! Then I had a trip to the emergency room, thought to be an appendicitis at first.....but no! I have a golf ball cyst on my right ovary, compliments of the mirena!! Now I have to have monitoring of this cyst until it bursts or is so painful I cant take it anymore and have to have it removed!!! Needless to say, I booked an appointment a few weeks ago and and have my mirena removed three days ago... I know it is going to take a while before I am "normal" and heal myself from this awful cyst, but I cant wait to love myself, husband and children again...if you are thinking of getting this inserted in your body, think again!!! Your doctors will not tell you what these women have experienced and gone through!!! Don't be a part of a class action suit down the line, money can't replace your health and well being :(

I got my Mirena put in November of 2005. Didn't really have any problems at first. I will say my periods were heavier than ever before, and my doctor said they would eventually stop, but they never did. In February, I started feeling extra tired and having some anxiety attacks, but figured I had experienced anxiety before and maybe it was just coming back. Then I started getting dizzy spells, headaches and just an overall bad feeling. Couldn't explain it, just didn't feel well. I decided to quit smoking. Figured maybe that had something to do with it. But instead of feeling better after quitting, I was feeling even worse. I was losing hair in clumps, bleeding gums, sweating much worse then ever in my life!!!! I had pains and numbness in my left leg. I even had chest pains, but it was all over my chest, not just near my heart!! I was also getting very depressed. I could cry because my husband looked at me the wrong way. And talk about not wanting any kind of intimacy!!!!! I wanted nothing to do with it!!! I feel so bad for my husband that he had to go through all of this with me. Thank goodness he's a wonderful, and patient man!!!! I went through many doctors, primary doc, hematologist, back to my primary. Had several blood tests, ultrasounds, MRI and an MRA, but all the tests said everything was fine. Finally, I happened to search Mirena on the internet. And I found all of these stories with women who were having the same problems as me. Thank God I may have found my answer to all my problems. I'm calling the doctor on Monday and scheduling an appointment to have this "thing" removed. I could care less about the side effects from having it removed. I just know that if in a month or two I feel better, than it is worth it!!!!
