In 2007 I was diagnosed with HBP and enlarged prostate at the same time. I was working and had medical coverage with my PCP at Nova Southeastern University. The doctors there are very good. They put me on Terazosin for both. I quickly developed severe rash, hives, swollen face, neck, throat, etc and had to go to emergency. They took me off Terazosin and gave me Flomax for the prostate and Lisinopril for the BP. The Flomax works fine-noside effects that I can tell except decreased semen production. I am a 58 year old male. But I quickly developed a cough and the took me off Losinopril right away and put me on Diovan, which worked great with no discernible side effects. Then I lost my job and had to go to the VA for my medical in January of 2009. Because my medical history included my emergency visit for a severe anaphylactic reaction to Terazosin, they allowed me to stay on Flomax. But I had no such record for the cough caused by Lisinopril. So they insisted that Diovan was too expensive and I had to try Lisinopril. Despite my complaining about the previous experience they insisted. I was given a little pink pill which did cause me to develop a minor cough. But being a good soldier, I decided to live with it. Then in August I noticed that my refill no longer had a pink pill but a larger yellow pill. And that was when the problems started. I first felt like food particles were stuck in my throat and nothing could get them out. That feeling would eventually disappear on its own only to later return. I visited the emergency room several times with severe flu like symptoms, including a severe cough. I also discovered a yellow film covering the back of my throat. And my tongue had a thick yellow coating on it that went all the way to the back. In some places this had strands that extended above the back of my tongue for about a half inch. In addition there were bumps on the top of the back of my tongue. This stuff could not be scraped off. The emergency doctors would examine my mouth and throat, tell me nothing was wrong and refuse to take a throat culture. They scheduled an appointment with ear, nose and throat and then canceled it. Eventually they scheduled a CT scan, which showed nothing abnormal. Finally my PCP examined me and said I had a severe allergic reaction to Lisinopril. So a week ago she took me off Lisinopril and put me on Amlodipine. I'm actively researching the side effects of that and will get off if I see anything I don't like. But my goal now is to find natural substances to treat both the enlarged prostate and the HBP. The yellow coating on my throat is beginning to disappear. Still no difference with the yellow coating on my throat. I believe I have seen slight improvement in the cough, but not nearly enough for my liking. I worry whether I will ever be able to get rid of it. I do have more energy now. Any idea how long it will take to get rid of this cough?

I recently had been prescribed macrobid for a uti I developed a cough after 4 doses that really hurt. After finishing the course of it I came down with the flu ( cough fever, body aches, etc.) and a rash all over my legs and arms of tiny bumps that itched. 2 weeks later I was given macrobid as a preventative measure by urologist to take for 30 days. I took the 1st dose before I went to bed at about 11:30 pm. the next day by 10am i couldn't finish my morning oatmeal due to sudden loss of appetite and nausea. Then I noticed I was starting to get body aches and my temp was elevating by noon. I took some aleve. By 2:30pm my I had a terrible cough that hurt my chest and my heart felt like it was beating out of my chest. Since I work for my PCP I told him about the symptoms and that I thought it was related to the macrobid and that this was listed as some of the side effects he checked my pulse and it was 133. I went home sick and he called to check on me around 6p.m. by then I was much worse my fever went up and I was coughing to the point that I was short of breath. I had headache dizziness, lightheaded and my whole body ached. and i was so hoarse I could barely talk and had what felt like a bruise on my left hip. He told me if I didn't start to feel better or got worse I should go to the E.R. I woke up at 10pm feeling worse and my heart rate was 120 after waking up from sleep. Went to the E.R. and my pulse was 142. they totally disregarded the fact that I told them this was side effects of the macrobid and they told me that could not be. That night I was diagnosed with bronchitis and uti. I was perfectly fine the day I took this med. I have never had bronchitis before. And my urologist had checked my urine 2 days before and said it was fine. i wasn't even having uti symptoms this was supposed to be preventative med. My PCP says he had his doubts but after looking at the side effects of this med in his MPR, I had almost every one that was listed. I will never take this med again. Antibiotics are supposed to help, not cause infections this should be taken off the market.

I think that I finally figured out why I am so physically and mentally sick. I received the mirena almost 2 years ago and I was a true advocate of the product...I love it!! About 6 months ago I started to have panic attacks and anxiety (i have never experienced this before) it was so bad that I barely made it to work everyday and could no longer handle being out in public. My PCP placed me on different types of anti-depressants (which made me depressed). Currently I take Budeprion which has decreased my anxiety but I do not feel like myself. The past month and a half I wake up with the feeling of morning sickness (the numerous pregnancy test say that I am not), have headaches, low energy levels and little motivation. I was pretty sure that my hormones levels must be "off" but my PCP and OB insisted that there is no way that my symptoms have anything to do with my hormones because my child is almost 2 and I am 29 years old. I have gone through numerous tests, scans etc.to find the cause of why I feel so awful and all tests came back Fine. After reading the stories on this website I now know that I do not need anti-depressants and I am not going crazy...I just need to get the Mirena removed.

I am also really glad I have found this website. I had my mirena placed in March 2006. I loved it, told all my friends thought it was a miracle. I have completely changed my mind. I have dizziness, headaches, joint pain and my PCP put on Lexapro for anxiety and mild depression in September 09.
I have a 3 and 4 year old, but am so fatigued at times I don't want to do anything but sit around. I can not lose any weight. I tried nutrisystem and
that didn't help. I am also having having a symptom that hasn't been mentioned on the site. I have done some research and noticed that the mirena can also cause blood vessels to constrict. In December 08 after having some (quite a few) drinks and smoking cigaretts at my husbands
Christmas Party the next morning my forearms and hands were a dusty blue color. I have had this happen one time since. A couple of times the bottoms of my feet were a purple/ bluish color looked as if they were badly bruised. After researching the cause of this, the only thing I can find is that the mirena can also cause constriction of the blood vessels. Has anyone else had this happen???? I had and echocardiogram done, that was fine all my blood work has come back normal. Am seeing a neurologist, he has me scheduled for a nerve condition test, but he thinks
I may need to see a vascular doctor.

I had my Mirena put in 10/08 at the end of my period, after having my youngest in September 2008. I had bleeding for about 6 months daily, heavy at first and then just enough to be annoying. I had some random nausea during the bleeding period. Since the bleeding stopped in May 2009 all the wonderful symptoms started. I suffered from nausea and bloating every day, all day until just last week. Then last week the nausea went away (mostly) and the constipation started. What a nice trade off. We were in Wisconsin Dells the past few days and I started experiencing pain/numbness in my hands that went to my elbows and at times to my shoulders. I don't know if this is related to the Mirena or pushing a heavy double stroller all over and up big hills. I have had pain/aches under my armpits right next to my breasts for a month now too, along with shoulder and collar bone pain. There is occasionally pain in my breasts similar to the letdown pain I experienced while nursing ( stopped month ago.) I had an ultrasound last Tuesday and the Mirena in in the right place and I am definitely not pregnant. My ob/gyn told me to follow up with my PCP as none of these were Mirena symptoms including the nausea. My PCP gave me a stool softener and did a chest xray which was normal. I was beginning to think I was dying or had some deadly disease until I found this website. Oh yeah I forgot to mention the awful headaches I've been getting on and off, I think looking back mostly at the beginning/ middle of my cycle. I still have spotting on and off and get a really light period every 21- 26 days. The minor things I have noticed are oily hair, light acne and irritability. I have an appointment to have the Mirena taken out next Monday. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms together? Also could somebody please tell me more about the Mirena Crash? My ob/gyn just said to expect a long heavy period. I want to know how long it will take to feel normal if these issues are Mirena related. I would love to get some opinions from other Mirena users. My email address is ****** Thanks!

I was given Levaquin for a kidney infection. It seemed to help break my fever but after only one dose, I broke out in rash and later that night had tingling in my legs. My hand felt numb. When I called the oncall doctor she told attributed to anxiety. I told her I was anxious because all of a sudden my hand had gone numb and knowing that was a danger sign I refused to take anymore. Later that night, I could not walk or stand or bear weight on my legs. My shins and Achilles tendons were burning and only because of the internet did I know what was happening to me. Only 1 out of three doctors would agree I was having a drug reaction. For some odd reason, the doctors REFUSE to believe or acknowledge this was caused by Levaquin. No wonder the side effects are "rare" if no doctor will acknowledge the pain their patients are going through....how can the drug companies get any real feedback. Funny thing is only after I sent an email out to my team essentially warning them about this drug did I find out my coworker who had been on medical leave had suffered the same fate of torn achilles tendon and only after 3 months of PT is finally walking without pain. WHAT IS WRONG WITH our world when no one will listen to us. Thank God for the internet. I can walk now and have no pain standing (lasted only 2 and half days) but I am scared about the future as I know the results are lingering. I have been exhausted this whole weekend and wonder if its just me recovering as my PCP had me quit all antibiotics even at the risk of getting my kidney infection back. Well nice to know our stories are the same...and its not in our heads. BTW, my ER doctor told me it was a good drug and very unlikely the cause of my leg pains. They rather believed I had pneumonia or lyme's disease before they would believe it was caused by their beloved drug. All I can think now is I hope one day they are given this drug and it cripples them like it has so many others. Sometimes that is the only way they will acknowledge the truth. It has to happen to them or someone they love.

I have been on lisinopril for over 3 years - 5 mg/day. I am a 52 year old female in great shape and exercise daily. For over a year now I have had muscle aches, muscle weakness, heart palpitations, foggy brain feeling, insomnia, fatigue, some tingling in extremities. I also sometimes get these spells where all these symptoms come on at once. It's very strange. Been to numerous doctors including, PCP, 2 neurologists and a rheumatologist and after many tests they all come up with nothing. After reading posts at this site I think it may be the Lisinopril and with my PCP's permission stopped taking it 11 days ago. My blood pressure is fine - I am monitoring it daily. My symptoms still remain. Does anyone know how long these symptoms may continue? I am grateful for any additional information you could provide.

I had this thing placed in April of 2008. I was fine had minor cramping and went back for check up. everything was okay until January 2009 I got a yeast infection. I did an otc med and it went away for about 3 days. It came back with Avengeance not only did I have a yeast infection but it was accompanied with migrated arthralgia. I could hardly walk at one point on my right foot then it moved from my right hand to my left and has settled in to my right foot. I called my PCP and she gave me meds to treat and it went away for a month. I was told that if it came back with the arthralgia she was going to test me for lupus!!!! LUPUS I thought I was in a lot of trouble the next month because it came back. I have had 8 yeast infections in 6 months. Every time my husband and I have sex it feels like a rug burn and I get the infection back. I was told (when I finally thought to call) by my GYN that if you get yeast infection and it doesn't fully go away it can live on the strings and keep coming back. I was treated this last time with a vag cream insert and an oral med. I thought I was free and clear but two months later here I am again. I am going in to see my GYN/PCP to have this removed tomorrow she agrees that the mirena is the issue. I have had all these other symptoms thought mostly the weight issue I can't lose weight not matter how hard I work at it. I have facial swelling and have been very fatigued. Also be warned that you should not have this placed if you have history of endometriosis. I consulted as to why with one of the doc that i am a nurse for and she said that this can cause bleeding to be worse since endometrial tissue can attach anywhere in the body. I have endometriosis removed twice and I am not willing to take the risk of abn bleeding elsewhere I already have enough CRAP to deal with. I am sure that some women have had this and it hasn't been an issue. More power to you!! but for those of you who are suffering form this. You can file a formal complaint with the FDA I think if enough of us file complaints maybe will step back and take a closer look at the TRUE SE of this horrible device!!

I became extremely ill after beginning Topamax. A trip to Urgent Care started me on Z pack for URI and gave me cough medicine. Cough along with incontinence and exhaustion became more severe over 3 weeks. Wheezing worsened but chest xrays done by my PCP showed no pneumonia. I have asthma and allergies which were treated by my PCP with Singulair, Advair and a rescue inhaler with no success. It wasn't until I started thinking about possibility of Topamax playing a part and doing research myself that the puzzle was solved. 3 doctors and a pharmacist knew nothing about the affect this drug has on asthmatics. I was miserable for an entire month due to this drug which could have been completely avoided if doctors were better informed. I had to convince my physicians by taking myself off Topamax in order to alleviate my symptoms. I hate to think where I would be today if I had continued taking the drug and had not found this web page!

My nightmare began Feb 24, 2009 when I had the Mirena IUD inserted. Amazing how crazy we all are! I have an almost 3 year old daughter and my husband and I are pretty certain that we are just having one child, but just in case we changed our minds, we wanted a form of birth control that was not permanent. Before I had this IUD placed in I talked to my ob/gyn about the Mirena vs the Paragard, I decided to go with the Mirena because my ob/gyn explained to me that because of the low level of hormone that would be absorbed into my bloodstream, that I should be okay and not have any side effects and I would have a very light period. I have tried other birth control pills and the nuvaring and all of them have affected me from anxiety to headaches to cold sores.

I have experienced the same symptoms as all of you. dizziness, foggy brain, numbness on right side of body, anxiety, acne, irritable, moody, bloated, headaches, weight gain (although I do exercise 3-4x/wk I gained 5 pounds in 2 mos.), hives( I have a history of allergies which I have been able to control with antihistamines 2x/wk and then all of a sudden I could not control it--saw my allergist who switched my meds), GERD which I was diagnosed with 10 years ago and had successfully arrested the symptoms after treatment), spotting, period every 3 weeks, etc.

I called my ob/gyn a couple of months later to tell her about my symptoms especially the anxiety and was told that it was probably related to my cycle and for me to chart my symptoms and to let her know how I was feeling a month later if things did not improve. Well after putting all of the pieces of the puzzle together, I figured it out that it was the Mirena that has been causing me this hellish nightmare.

On June 15, 2009 I went to go see my pcp to address my GERD issue and to start meds again. I told her that I was considering having my IUD removed because of all of the side effects that I was having. I told her that I was going to go home later and call my ob/gyn to make an appt. She told me that she would be able to remove it for me and so she did.

I instantly felt better--it seems like all of my symptoms have lessend or disappeared, and I had a bit of spotting which my pcp I was a happy person again--I was nice to my husband and was actually laughing when my 2 year old was having a tantrum in the bathtub! About 2 days later I began to bleed heavily and began to feel lightheaded, heart palpitations, cold sweat, and I felt like my legs were going to give from under me. I was thinking that I needed to go to the er. This occurred at 11:00 pm. I called my pcp and spoke to the on-call doc and he told me that if the symptoms continued that I should go to the er; I also called my ob/gyn on call doc (answering service) that I needed to have the symptoms addressed by the doctor who removed it and not my ob/gyn ( I was livid because I have been her patient for 10 years). Anyhow today I called my ob/gyn and spoke to the np who I am not very fond of and she told me that only the bleeding is expected and that all of the other symptoms are related to something else and that I should see my pcp for those. I disagree with her and believe in my heart that all of the symptoms are related to the removal of the IUD. Unfortunately I was not able to talk to my ob/gyn because she is off today. Anyhow I feel like I am feeling better although I feel like it will be a slow recovery and hope that there are no long term side effects.

What makes me the most upset is that the drug manufacture does not disclose all of the side effects, which I am sure that they are all very aware of. There are thousands of women with the same complaints and yet this birth control is still allowed to be distributed to women. Shame on them.

To all of you considering the Mirena: DO NOT HAVE IT INSERTED

I have had the Mirena for about 2 1/2 years. I had it inserted about 3 months after I had my daughter. Initially I thought it was great, but in the past 12-18 months I have noticed so many negative side effects that I believe must be related to the hormones in the Mirena. My PCP ignored my complaints but I have experienced the following since having the Mirena inserted:
sore/tender breasts, pretty serious weight gain(I diet and exercise a lot and don't lose a pound), severe acne on the chin and jaw line, coarse/dark facial hairs on the jaw line, migraines in the right side of my head, lower back pain in the left side(almost like a sciatica) fatigue. low sex drive, some mood swings, and the expected spotting. Although my PCP dismisses my concerns I have made an appt. with a new gynecologist to discuss my concerns and possible removal of the Mirena. Although the prevention of pregnancy is great the side effects are becoming unbearable and seem to increase over time. I would think twice about opting for this method of birth control.

I began taking Lisinopril back in early February. Within days, I developed a horrible cough, that was so severe, it induced vomiting - not food, just a clear sticky mucous. The vomiting happened 5-6 times per day following a stressful coughing bout. I saw my PCP, was diagnosed with a "bad cold", prescribed cough medicine and inhaler and sent on my merry way. The vomiting was happening while I was driving or sitting at my desk at work; it would come on so suddenly that I rarely had time to get to the bathroom. When this didn't clear up after several weeks, my PCP took me off the Lisinopril for about 10 days, but there didn't seem to be any change in the symptoms, so went back on the Lisinopril. I have had Abdominal, ENT, and Brain CT Scans to investigate the cause of this problem as I am a breast cancer survivor. Thankfully, the scans were clear. I have also had an Endoscopy, and have seen an allergist. I also developed a metallic taste in my mouth that was horrible. After doing research on the Internet and speaking with others who have also experienced similar symptoms, I contacted my PCP and took myself off the Lisinopril in mid-April. The coughing has been reduced, and the volume and frequency of the vomiting mucous has reduced as well. Here I am seven weeks off the medication and I am still have side effects. One of my doctors said that it could take several more months to see a complete improvement. Had I been aware of the potential for these side effects I would have never gone on this medication in the first place. I do know folks, however, that take Lisinopril without any side effects, so it works great for some. My BP is now creeping up again, and I am not sure what replacement drug will work best for me.

Hi there. A number of years back--maybe 8 or 9 years, I was prescribed Topamax for bulimia and mood swings. I was on a dosage that eventually went as high as 75 or 100 mg. At first it improved my mood and decreased my bingeing, which was very encouraging, but I began to have really awful side effects. First was the cognitive stuff: I couldn't remember people's names and even simple logic puzzles like how to fit a pair of shoes into a shoebox correctly stumped me. Soda tasted flat. Then my moods became somewhat erratic and I began to have intestinal discomfort. Then, even more oddly, my skin started having trouble healing from minor wounds. My hair became brittle and began to fall out. At that point I gave up and stopped the medication. It really felt like I was undergoing some kind of slow poisoning, like arsenic or something.

Now, I've developed migraines and my neurologist has put me on a small dose of 25 mg at bedtime. I've been highly reluctant to acquiesce after my former experience but nothing else has worked and I sometimes have headaches that last over two weeks at a time. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced side effects at 75 mg but not at 25?

Hopeful in NY

Has anyone had the experience of previously taking Levaquin without side effects, then when taking it again, developed severe headaches, joint aches, muscle pain and weakness, etc? I am currently going through this. I've taken Levaquin before probably 2 or 3 times due to upper respiratory problems and not noticed any side effect but this time, I've taken 5 days worth, 3 in hospital 2 as outpatient dose and can hardly move. I had the same experience in 2004 with zithromax. Had taken it without side effects, then suddenly when taking it again developed such bad chest pain, I thought as did my doctor, that I was having heart attack and spent a week in hospital before figuring that one out.

I have been on Birth Control since May 29, 2007. I was first put on Errin Tab .35mg, which went well, but was very depressed and angry. I had very few symptoms, but very severe headaches, and mood swings with this birth control. Then on August 4, 2008 I had the Mirena IUD inserted.
About 1 ½ months after insertion of the Mirena IUD, my mood starting really getting severe and bad. Now, this was the biggest issue for me because I have always been a person to lets things roll off my back. I have never once in my life felt the least bit depressed. Other than PPD with the birth of my daughter. I am noticing that I am just not feeling myself mentally or emotionally and I am crying very easily. I even yell at my husband and my daughter about the stupidest things and it’s like I am watching myself from the outside doing this and wondering why the heck am I yelling, but I can’t seem to make myself stop. I know something is wrong. I am also very lethargic and fatigued all the time. I also feel that I can’t ever seem to catch my breath. This still continues today, and is very distressing to me. My PCP has diagnosed me in the past week with Asthma, with no conclusive proof that Asthma is the issue. I haven’t had allergies since I was about 12 years old.( I am 35 now) I can only catch my breath when I lay on my left side. I constantly struggle for air, which cause’s panic, heart palpitations, and anxiety.
I have severe depression due to this situation and have been put on 5 different anti-depressants and sleeping aids as well, however it seems like I am a basket case, over anxious and often times a nervous wreck. There are days when I have uncontrollable crying episodes, off the handle severe mood swings. I have no patience with anyone or anything. This is usually around when my menstrual cycle will begin, then at the time it begins, I have horrible persistent bleeding, pain, cramping, coffee ground blood clots the size of a quarter. I will bleed for about 10 days and then stop and start again in about 8 more days. I have persistent abdominal pain, occasional fever, and unusual vaginal discharge, itching, and odor. It makes it very difficult to have sexual relations with my husband. It is very painful to have sex, and I just don’t have the libido for it as well. Sex drive is completely gone.
Since the insertion of the Mirena IUD, August 4, 2008, I have had horrible constipation, that will last for about 1 to 1 ½ weeks, and then for 2 days, I will have horrible and severe diarrhea, and then have no BM’s for the next 1 to 1 ½ weeks again. I also have severe headaches, that hit at anytime. I have lost a lot of my hair, it used to be very thick and strong. I break out in hives, rashes. I also have swelling of my face, hands, tongue, throat, and ankles. Not to mention again the not being able to breathe.
I also have a horrible time eating, I will eat, and then feel like vomiting for the next couple of hours. Sometime’s I do have to vomit, so I try not to eat at all, cause I just hate feeling that way. It just isn’t worth the discomfort for me.
I am withdrawn, and scared to socialize with friends, which that is not me at all. I am always depressed, have anxiety, severe acne, NO sex drive, angry all the time, very easily angered, and I have basically become a totally different person. I used to be a confident women and now I am a total train wreck.

In conclusion I am incredibly concerned about is the emotional side effects that I have experienced! I have slowly become a basket-case. I have at different times experienced the following side-effects : anxiety, minor paranoia, racing heartbeat, MOOD SWINGS! unexplained crying episodes, foggy thinking, and panicky feelings.

Update to my March 18th entry. I got an x-ray at Med express after my Gyne's office treated me like a wacco and my PCP said they couldn't help it wasn't their field. I didn't know writing for an x-ray was so difficult. I went to med express and they did the x-ray and confirmed my fear that it was still in me despite what the ultra sound. I ended up in the ER on Thursday night and had Surgery at 12am to have this thing removed. I had to have a CT before surgery because the x-ray didn't show exactly where it was it just showed it was still in my abdomen area. I was also told by the x-ray tech at med express that women who are breast feeding have an increased risk of the mirena moving and should wait. Nice to know now. Hope this helps anyone else.

Prescribed Avelox after previous antibiotic could not clear up sinusitis. Avelox cleared it up within three days, but I feel worse now. Extreme agitation/anxiety, tremors, twitches, no appetite, boughts of depression, dizzy, lack of coordination, accelerated heart rate, leg shake, cold extremities, very strange, vivid dreams. Doctor told me to stop taking and side effects should clear up in a few days ( I hope). This is nuts. I feel like I am going insane. I could not go to work for three days due to side effects.

I have been on Yaz for a little more than a year and until reading this postings didn't fully realize that a lot of bad things were related to taking this pill. For sure my sex drive was gone completely but I figured I could probably live with that. I had very few BM and stomach cramps specially when just starting the new pack every month. There were a lot of other things that have been mentioned but lately and the reason I'm writing is that I've been having chest pain and feel my heart pounding just from going up the stairs. Also my muscles feel very week, especially my legs. This is really scary and already made an appt with my PCP. Has anyone heard anything or has had heart issues related to Yaz? Something that can help me ask questions or give my doctor more clues.

On February 9th, 2009, I went to my PCP because I had been sick for over a week. I knew I had had the flu and unfortunately I got a sinus infection and bronchitis from it. The dr. prescribed me Avelox. When I went and had the RX filled, the pharmacist told me that it was a very very strong antibiotic and that I needed to make sure to drink plenty of water. I took the first done on Monday at about 3:00pm. By that evening, the tremors were starting but I really didn't pay much attention to them because I still felt so horrible. At about 9:00pm I turned out my lights and attempted to go to sleep. Each time I would actually fall asleep, I would twitch or jerk myself right back awake. That first night, I got MAYBE 2 hours of sleep.

When I got out of bed Tuesday morning the tremors were so bad, I could hardly hold a glass to take a drink from. I was dizzy and was even having problems talking. My speech was very slurred and I sounded like I had been drinking. I took my second dose at about 1:00pm on Tuesday, which I never should have done. By 4:00pm my tremors were even worse, I was having a hard time walking, and I started to notice that when I went to the bathroom, urinating was becoming difficult. By that evening I had decided that if things did not get better, I would go to the ER the next morning. That night, once again I did not get any sleep at all and I started having auditory hallucinations. Three or four times through out the night I turned my bedroom light on because I swore I heard someone crawling on my floor.

Wednesday morning when I woke up, tremors were worse, I was having abdominal pain and could barely stand up. I called my doctor's office and left a message and then called my mother and she immediately took me to the ER. When we got there, my blood pressure was 160/100 and my heart rate was through the roof and completely erratic. They immediately did an ekg and asked me if I was having any chest pains or shortness of breath. It was at that point I became VERY nervous about the whole situation. While I was registering at the hospital, my mother actually had to fill out all of the forms because I could not write at all. Once I got back to see the dr. I explained all the symptoms and he said he was going to give me a shot of benadryl but it most likely wouldn't help since I wasn't having an allergic reaction. They waited 30 minutes and it did no good so the doctor gave me Atavan and we waited another 30 minutes to see if it helped. The atavan helped but only because it was masking the symptoms. The dr. explained that I was just going to have to wait for the drug to get out of my system.

It has been a week since I took the first dose and I still have some side effects. My vision has been slightly blurred and I normally have 20/20 eye sight. Also, my typing skills are noticeably worse. I use to be able to type 75 wpm and now I am lucky to get out 40.

I find it absolutely amazing that a drug like this can be approved by the FDA!!!!! Something needs to be done.

I have been taking Niaspan 500mg for about a week and I have experienced mild hot flashes during the week but these were manageable. However, last night I was laying in bed and suddenly felt a tingling in my head, that spread to my ears, and it went down hill from there and this happened fast! I got out of bed because I swore I was having a stroke. When I went in the bathroom my face, neck, and arms looked as if I was sunburn. My eyes and face were swollen. I was disoriented and scared I was dying! I also was so hot to the touch but I had chills. This went on for about 30 minutes and it finally lightened but did not subside completely for several hours. I do take the aspirin (300 mg) a half hour before I take it. I don't want to take this anymore...waiting for a call back for PCP but I would take any info that anyone has to make this stop.
