After 5 weeks of taking Yaz, I have developed hives, "lobster red" skin and itchiness from my ankles to my knees. The itching is was so bad, I was using a metal hair brush to scratch (I know, not good). It turns out, I'm allergic to Yasmine. Hives is one of the first side effects.
I stopped taking Yaz about 3-4 days ago and the hives went away completely last night (my doctor told me yaz stays in your system 7-10 days).
The doctor also told me, if you do develop hives on this medication, you need emergency help. Hives can spread very very quickly and they can obstruct your airway.
I personally did not go to the emergency room (I didn't know any better), I was able to control them with Benadryl.
I am sad I can no longer take this pill. It was awesome. It took away my appetite, no moodiness, no pms, no weight gain.

My dad who's 52 had a fever and flu last week. The doctor gave him 10 pills of Levaquin (500mg) and said this was a very good antibiotic. After taking each pill, my dad felt more nauseous and told me that everything (delicious food, cigarettes, perfume, etc) smelled like burning garbage. Apparently this was caused by Levaquin, and I'm pushing him to see the doctor with me tomorrow. I'll post what the doctor says once we come back.

I have been on mirena now for 10 months. I was on the depo for 10 years prior. I loved my depo adn only went off of it after Kaiser said I could not do it any longer. I was told that mirena was a god send and a lot like my depo. I can say that the combination of depo and mirena I have not had any period at all. but that is where the happiness ends. I have experienced moths of breast pain. it hurt to touch them let alone put anything on them. after about 6 months and numerous trips to the vet it disappeared. then I got a small rash on my neck and by my arms. went to dermatology and since then I have been there, or to my primary or an allergist every week since then. the rough severley itchy skin is constant. remarkably every 29 - 32 days it fades for 2 days or so and just when I am sure it is going away wham back it comes and each time it is getting worse and worse. having never had any skin problems before I believed the doctors tha tit was folliculitus, then they said dermatitus, then they said uticaria and then hives or the last straw i was causing it that it was in my head. i just got a new allergist and while she doesn't knwo if it is my mirena she can tell me I have histamine levels that are off the chart. my husband is allergic to a lot so we already use free & clear everything and my housse is spotless but I am still being told it is soemthing I am doing to myself. I have also been reevaluating my things and I relaize I have been experiencing a lot of numbness and joint pain. so much so that my primary sent me to a rhuematlogist and he ran every test for lupus, and many other diseaeses adn even cancer. I was going crazy. Iwas beginning to think maybe I was mental. I have since been researching mirena and I am finding it so much more than what the pamphlet says. I finally got the nerve to call my ob, adn she ahs since been researching things with me and we know for sure that no matter what next week I get my mirena removed. I am just feeling so alone and depressed. I am 33 years old and instead of enjoying my new marriage I am contemplating a divorce becasue I do not want him to be stuck with soemone who might be crazy. seeking support and anyone else who feels this way.

I have major bad effects from strong perfumes, more of a chemical intolerance/autoimmune response (body aches, fatigue, irritability, difficulty concentrating) than nasal or sinus type reaction. This gets worse as the years go by. One of my former coworkers drowned herself in strong perfumes every day. I felt like I had the flu all the time and my other co-workers could barely smell the perfume. My doctor put me on Singulair. It was like a miracle, I was almost unaware of the perfume and my symptoms were gone. I left that job at the end of Feb. 07 and stopped the Singulair immediately. Within 4 or 5 days, I was completely crippled by lower back pain, right at the top of the pelvic bone, started in one side then moved to the other. Spent most of a week not being able to move, walk, etc. I started another job mid-May and started the Singulair again due to the entire place being landscaped with jasmine, another of my major triggers. I left that job after 4 weeks, stopping the Singulair immediately again. Now, several days later, the back problems are returning and worsening. I've never had lower back problems in my life. I am thinking that the crippling back pain may be due to the sudden cessation of Singulair. Any thoughts on that, anyone? I also wish I had read these comments earlier, because during my last 3+ weeks on Singulair, I was waking up after a couple hours of sleep and unable to go back to sleep due to mind racing, was uncharacteristically unable to cope with stress, etc. It was a nightmare that I blamed on the new job and now am wondering if it was not caused by Singulair.

I am 20 years old and I've been on Yasmin for almost 2 years and off for about 2 weeks. Yasmin gave me an irregular heartbeat, vision problems, severe fatigue, muscle spasms and aching in my joints, and constant cramping in my lower tummy but these have started to slowly die down. My current side effects include severe allergies to foods (milk, wheat, tomatoes, eggs), antihistamines, and chemical sensitivities (perfume, soaps, detergents, cigarrette smoke). Also, I have been struggling to swallow food for 11 weeks now and found out that it may be a nuerological side effect from yasmin. The doctors where I am from don't seem to believe me and they all think I'm crazy so I just don't know how I am going to get help for this. One doctor even told me that I was doing this to myself and that I was anorexic. I'm obviously trying to get help or I wouldn't have been there asking him. I just wish I knew how long it takes to get back to normal or if I am ever going to be normal again.

I have only been on it for 8 days, but it has been wonderful for me. I suffer from nearly daily migraines. My migraines are brought on by strong smells like smoke, or perfume. The first day I was on Singulair, I went on a field trip to a farming community with my daughter. This is usually enough to have me in bed with an aching headache for a week, but instead I got a mild migraine late that afternoon. My imitrex knocked it right out. The next day, I cleaned house all day, no headache even with cleaning chemicals. Now 8 days later, I haven't had to take any migraine medicine at all. Three nights this week, my neighbor has burnt grass (a major trigger for me) and still no headache. I may get side effects later, but for now, this has been a godsend to me. It has my allergies under control and I can now go out to dinner without fear of smelling smoke, or too much perfume. I can work in my yard again.
If you are having side effects, try something else. I have had terrible side effects from medicines before so I know they do exist. I wish you luck in finding the one that works for you.

Singulair has been my personal savior. I was prescribed Singulair for Reactive Airway, asthma caused by exposure to certain everyday chemicals, such as perfume. My doctor also said Singulair would help my seasonal allergy symptoms - stuffy nose, itchy eyes, etc. In two years, I have not had a single asthma attack and no longer need Sudafed or any antihistamine. I can mow our lawn with no watery, itch eyes and no sneezing. As for side effects, I have noticed my teeth are more sensitive to cold. I have heard some people say they gain weight after starting Singulair, however, I have lost weight. I feel so good I think I have been exercising more. At any rate I'm down about 17 lbs. in 24 months. I'm sorry some people are unable to tolerate Singulair, but this medicine has changed my life.

Two weeks after stopping advair I lost 5 pounds mostly in the face and a little in the stomach. Then I realized that I had a yeast infection (not the usual sypmtons) and immediately started a sugar/starch/carb-free diet and went on an anti-candida natural meds cure. The diet was not easy at first because everything has sugar in it. But I started buying my own veggies and meat, cooking enough at night so we had leftovers for lunch and I did start imrpoving and lost another 6 pounds off my stomach within six weeks. I backslid and felt it, and went back on the diet. I'm eating more calories now but I'm still losing. Reading the anti-candida (yeast infection)websites helped me and I know that it will take from 3 months to a year to recover from the imbalance that advair has caused in my body. After 8 weeks I've lost 15 pounds and I feel my immune system is starting to work again because minor scars from cuts and bee stings have started to heal and fade after 2 years of not healing!!!! My finger/toe nails are also going back to normal. My husband's toe fungus cleared up in four days after going on the same regimen with me (apparently you can pass a yeast imbalance to your partner over time...they probably won't have as bad a case of it because their immune systems haven't been comprimised by advair or other steroids). I also take glucosamine and a high potency multivitamin with minerals without added sugars /starch/etc. which most pharmacies carry and eat lots of fresh garlic from the farmer's market.
Read as much as you can and remember that it takes time to loose weight and build a healthy immune system... But throught this process I have learned a lot: the yeast infection was actually causing my newly developed food and chemical/perfume allergies....so controling the yeast imbalance is helping me with those allergies... I can actually be around people with perfume on again without feeling like I am having a stroke. My allergist in Plattsburgh NY never told me about this connection, he said some people just are sensitive. Boy, now I know, if a doctor doesn't answer my questions , I'll find one who is willing to and can.
Hang in there everyone and find a doctor who will help you and not dismiss your side affects/problems.
Best wishes!

I had a Mirena fitted November last year due to severe anaemia caused by a fibroid which resulted in me having a blood transfusion. In the last 2 months I have been slowly gaining weight now 1 stone heavier than last Nov! and my stomach is really bloated, last week I had a terrible migraine attack which I have never had before. However whats is most annoying is an odourless non-itchy yellow discharge which I get nearly all the time, (feels like water coming out) my Gynecologist says the fibroid is causing it? but i wanted to know if its the coil? as I really want it removed but i doubt he will as the heavy bleeding/clots may return - I would appreciate it if anyone could shed any light on this.
