I was diagnosed with asthma after 34 years of a very athletic life. My dr. prescribed me predisone, proventil, singular and ADVAIR!! Although the predisone was for a 7 day period, the other three meds. I was to take indefinetly. For someone who has never been on any medication, this was a very hard adjustment!! I took all meds. for about 6 wks. but my gut feeling was just telling me to stop, so after blurriness of vision, weight gain, shakiness, loss of sleep, mood swings, loss of concentration, severe heart burn(especially at night), breast tenderness, back pain and the need to clear my throat all the time I took it upon myself to get off the drugs!! I stopped about a week ago and am feeling a slight shortness of breath but I'm going to stay on top of it and work out on building up my lungs and flushing all these medications out of my system. Sometimes doctors are to quick to diagnose a person and put them on unnecessary medications. I believe on our bodies having the capability of healing themselves with natural elements. I'm on my way to a natural product store to find a healthier way to heal my body. Thank you all for the comments!! I'm relieved to know that I made the right choice on stopping ADVAIR!!!!

I just found this and wanted to put a warning on here to new topamax users. If you experience difficulty breathing, please consult with your doctor immediately! I havent even been on this for two weeks and this week I upped to 50mg @ bedtime, and within 1hr of taking the first 50mg dose of this, I started having swelling and tingling of my hands and face, difficulty breathing, and a lot of problems concentrating. Second day, same thing, third day same thing, and today, I went in and demanded to see my dr (who wasnt in the office today) and they wanted me to wait until next week to be seen, and I knew something wasnt right, I wanted seen now. They kept insisting "its not a common side effect of the drug" and I kept asking if it was a side effect at all... seriously, it took me several hours to be heard, and finally, the ARNP that I was seeing in place of the practitioner I normally see looked it up and its a severe side effect. Needless to say, I am not taking this drug anymore, and will continue my quest for a migraine relief. *They* said it should only be in my system 21hrs (we're on 25now) and the effects should be gone by then, which makes sense because each day, the effects seemed to subside shortly before I took the next bedtime dose, but today, they're persistant... I can't breathe, my fingers wont cooperate with me due to the numbness and tingling, and my lips are numb, swollen and tingling which makes it difficult to drink anything...
Anyway... PLEASE... be proactive with this medication... if something doesnt feel right, talk to your dr, and make them listen to you... Im waiting for blood and urine tests to come back to be sure the drug hasn't had any other effects on me... they said that the topamax allows (as a severe side effect) the blood to absorb high amounts of carbon monoxide (great, huh?) which is what causes the difficulty breathing (which she was originally trying to brush off as my athsma, which I KNEW wasnt the issue... I KNOW when my athsma is bothering me, and what an athsma attack is... I've been athsmatic for the greater part of my 26yrs of being...)

Never really having stuck with any other type of birth control before, I started using the NuvaRing about 6 months prior to my wedding. I had consulted my Dr. about it asking what would be ok for me knowing I am forgetful and didnt want to take the pill everyday. He said the NuvaRing was my best option and proceeded to tell me some of the pros and cons about it. As a very persistant bride, I didnt really listen, just said "Great, sign me up!". Well the months go on and I never really had the urge to be with my soon to be husband, I just assumed it was because I was too involved with the wedding plans and everything else. The wedding day comes, everything perfect as I wished, then there was the night of the wedding... NOT everything I wished, I was "tierd", but I did what your supposed to do the night of your wedding and got practically nothing out of it. The entire week of the honeymoon, I bet we had sex MAYBE 5 times, 5 times!!! Thats how much you should be having in one day on your honeymoon. I just ignored it and figured it was the sun and alcohol, big mistake! We have now been married 6 weeks and probably have sex twice a week if we are lucky. My sweet new husband has been very good about this, any other guy would probably kill their wife by now for this. Finally, our solution, one of my best friends who is a nurse was listening to me wine a complain about all of this. I mean, what girl who loves their husband and is attracted to him wants to have no sexual desire, not me! So after she finishes listening to me, she starts to tell me all of the horrible things she has heard about the NuvaRing, she in fact was about to start on it before she heard all of the negative symptoms. She has heard of many relationships falling apart due to this "oh so wonderful" birthcontrol. In fact, some people have said they used to have sex 5 to 6 times a week and once they started this it went down to maybe once or twice! Not how I want to live my life or marriage. I suggest to all of you out there that are either researching the NuvaRing or have been on it, DONT DO IT!

yeah, I had the Mirena for three months and had it taken out because it ruined my sex drive and I bled constantly for about the entire time, maybe 6 days total of no period. And my period was heavy for those three months... not just a little discharge. I say that so that whomever reads this will understand.
I switched from the IUD to the Loestrin 24 Fe... I was hormonal day number 3... so much so that I have argued with him since day number 3... for no reason really... normally I would keep my mouth shut but with this hormonal swing everyone knows what I am thinking... and at the time I thought it was smart to say what I thought. Anyway, I took Loestrin for two weeks, thats it. And I am on day 4 of no pill and I am still hormonal. I had headaches starting day number 5 and they were horrible... made my jaw and ears hurt. They were persistant until yesterday, day 3 no pills, and I have a slight "Lul (hum)"... like remnants of the headache still present. Day 3 on the pill I also noticed serious depression... and that stayed with me until yesterday, day 3 off the pill, I was crying every minute... the slightest criticism or off remark I would be crying, and the baby.... she couldn't play around me without getting barked at for making to much noise or making a mess... I yelled at her several times... well, she is two years old and they do tend to test you but I really don't yell. I even told my husband that me and the baby would leave him.
So, I have read many other websites that host such experiences from Loestrin 24 Fe and I have to say... 75% is Bad News and the other is just OK. FDA may approve this drug but that doesn't mean its for everyone.

My 20 month old son was perscribed Omnicef for a persistant ear infection. Two days after he started the medication, our sweet little boy turned into the Demon Child, that wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink, wouldn't sleep, would scream with terror, or pain every 20 minutes...
He had loose stools as well, but since he wouldn't eat or drink that only happened about once a day.
We took him to the hospital and they ran tests, but could find anything wrong, "It must be the pain of the ear infection..."
My wife and I were going crazy with him, and didn't know what else to do but love him and not try to kill each other from lack of sleep.
About a day after the medication was finished he started to eat again, and within 48 hours he was sleeping though the night. As a matter of fact he could not get enough to eat. He was going to gain back the 5 pounds he lost ASAP.
The real kick in the pants is that he still had an ear infection in both ears and ended getting tubes in his ears two weeks later.
We are taking the precaution to never let him take cephalosporin derivatives again.
I can't believe that the manufacturer of this drug does not list these behavioral reactions in the small print. It would have saved us a lot of heartache if we had known and could have discontinued the drug.

I have been on Advair since Feb. 13 of this year. I have been experiencing nausea and bad dizziness and wonder if these can be side effects of this drug. I haven't had it before and am not pleased with these symptoms. The dizziness occurs when I am sitting or laying down and move my head or sometimes on just reclining. Any one else have these symptoms???? Can't seem to find a list of side effects on the net that really answer this question.

My 3 year old son has mild persistant asthma. He has wheezing and coughing spells off and on throughout the year. He has been on Singulair now for about a month and we notice that he is not sleeping as well as he used to and he has become aggitated and restless. He used to be a sweet, easy-going kid. His preschool teacher has told us that he's not listening in school and that he's just not himself lately. We are taking him off of Singulair as of today.

Persistant muscle cramps.
I'm 66 years old and have a long history of muscle cramps after physical excertion such as tennis. I've been on 10mg for several years so even though the cramps have gotten more frequent and more persistant (harder to walk off) I did not think Lipitor could be implicated.
At my MDs suggestion I have stopped taking them. Surprise! No more cramps. And I am playing tennis especially hard to try to bring them on. But nothing.
This has been a surprise. I should go back on Lipitor to test that it is really the cause, but that dedicated to science I'm not.

After taking Lisinopril for 1 month, I developed a persistant hacking cough. I've always had frequent bouts with respiratory illness so I went to the doctor for that. He gave me some antibiotics but after 2 weeks, I wasn't getting better. After getting to the point where I couldn't talk or sleep for coughing, (and gurgling when I breathed) I decided to check out the side effects of the drug. I stopped taking Lisinopril immediately. I also changed doctors when he refused to believe the drug was causing my reaction. I now take Cozaar with zero side effects. It took almost 9 months for me to get rid of the cough.

I am 52 yrs old. I had a history of low b/p untill 10 yrs ago when it suddenly change to very high b/p. Cause unknown.
I have been on numerous types of b/p meds tryin to control the high b/p. About 12 months ago my GP changed me over to Lisinopril. My b/p dropped way to low and he changed the dosage to 10mg per day. It is still lower, 100/60, but he seems pleased with that.
At about the same time I developed a persistant hacking, dry cough and began vomiting as many as 15 times per day. I cannot keep most meals down and it's causing me to have trouble falling asleep and stay asleep. I've lost over 65 pounds, my hair is thinning and I am exhausted.
My GP nver mentioned Lisinopril might be the cause and has sent me to 3 different specialists to find out why I am coughing and vomiting. No one has come up with an answer.
You can imagine my shock when I stumbled upon this website!
I've emailed an inquiry to my GP to ask if he thinks Lisinopril might be the cause and will ask my gastro-intestinal specialist when I see him this week. I'll post their answers.
I'd be thrilled if this drug was the cause and the cure could be a simple change of medications.

Persistant muscle tremors, muscle weakness, extreme fatigue, dizziness, loss of balance, neuropathy in both legs and hands, tinnitus, memory loss, inability to concentrate and make decisions, pain in back of neck and legs.
The symptoms started six months ago--two years after first starting to take Lipitor. I did report muscle pains to my doctor early on, but he just tested my liver and said I was fine. I went through two MRIs and extensive blood tests by a neurologist. Every week my symptoms continued to worsen. Finally, a friend mentioned another friend with similar symptoms who had linked it to Lipitor. I stopped use of Lipitor and within four days, all symptoms but the tremor and nerve damage was gone. I have no idea if the damage is permanent.
I consider Lipitor to be the worse health issue I have ever faced.

I found this sight after a search for "Singulair" and "Nightmare."
My 26 month old daughter was started on Singulair (4mg once daily) 3 weeks ago to combat a persistant sinusitus condition - now attributed to allergies.
She has been waking up more frequently at night, often crying and or kicking her legs. Tonight she yelled "No-No" at the top of her lungs, kicking her legs, scaring my wife and I - as we've never heard the sounds of absolute fright from her. She's having nightmares consistently - we're going to the Dr. for an alternative treatment.

UPDATE
Hi ladies just thought I would give you an update. I have just received my ct scan results and they are fine.
I have been of Yasmin for 5 months and I have to say I am getting better yipeee, I never thought the day would come.
I had dizzeyness, heart palps, BAD anxiety (thought I had a brain tumour), numbness in left hand and arm, persistant headaches, shakes,
I know yasmin is coming out of my system because my PMT has returned, my boobs have shrunk and my spots have returned, but who cares I can handle all those over the HORRIBLE yasmin side effects.
I do get a LITTLE headache, and anxiety around ovulation and when I am having a period but it is NOTHING like what it was.
This HORRIBLE thing does work its way out of our bodies, hang in there.
Joanne.

I am 5'4" and have always weighed under 110 lbs. Even through 4 pregnancies, the most I ever weighed was 117. Now, all of a sudden, I weigh 117, which has been a steady increase since my last dose of prednisone 3 weeks ago. I was on three different dosages over a 6 week period for a persistant skin rash. I am terribly frustrated with the wieght gain and wonder if this is from the prednisone and if so, how long will I have to battle this? My other side effects were insomnia, night sweats, higher BP, and some swelling in my hands and feet and face.

I am so glad to have found this site! I have been having persistant fatigue, chest discomfort, pain radiating from my shoulders down to my arms, a feeling of weakness, lightheadedness, muscle aches, cough, a feeling of lung congestion, you know, like you've been swimming a long time and your lungs are soggy! I take 10mg of Lisinopril and demadex to control high bp. I'm calling my dr. tomorrow and talk about alternatives! Thank you so much!

After reading all of the previous entries, many of my questions have been answered. I took Singulair for about a year, but discontinued its use about 9 months ago. While taking the drug, I experienced many of the adverse effects posted by other users: weight gain for no apparent reason, itching rash on my forehead, horrible sleep patterns, constant tiredness, and persistant cramping in my feet and hands. After I discontinued its use, most of the symptoms disappeared, but I never attributed that to the discontuance of the drug. I began taking Singulair again two ago at the suggestion of my PCP. Here we go again: 5 lb. weight gain for no explicable reason, same old cramps, sleep difficulties, tiredness, etc. I am now off of Singulair as of today!

I had a migraine for 8 days, nothing would help. Saw my chiropractor, then saw my primary doc. She realized my bp had been climbing steadily over the past 2 years. I am 31, female, slightly over wieght with bp 135-150/90-100. I tried to use CO Q 10 supplements 300 mg once daily. I have to say I felt GREAT but my bp stayed the same and the headache was beter, mild but persistant. I gave in and started taking lisinopril 10mg. Head ache has been better, mild and hit and miss. Ok, that is the only thing I can say for it. I have such a God aweful back ache I just want to cry. My cough is keeping me up at night and is sometimes gagging, my asthma is way,way worse, and the thought of spicy food forget it. Had pizza at my brothers house. I took zantac then tried to eat 20 minutes or so later. I nearly threw up, and not because of usual upset feeling. Reflux was just horrible. It has only been three weeks but my bp is up to 160/100, maybe because I feel so bad and sleep deprived. I will call my doc tomorrow. Thanks to this page I know I am not just falling apart. By the way my mom started this same med 3 months ago. She is fine with it, except for the cough maybe. She is an asthmatic, smoker, with allergies. It is had to say when her cough gets worse, but she has complained that her asthma has really bothered her early this year. HHMMM.....

A confirmation - I also am having very loose, watery bowels, going to the bathroom frequently. It's killing all the normal intestinal flora (hence the watery feces) along with my persistant bronchitis. My lungs feel better, but my abdominals are upset. Definitely reaching for the Acidophilus when my course of antibiotics is over.

I've been taking buspar for a couple months and every now and then I experience some weird side affects. I feel lightheaded and sometimes have headaches that can last for days. It's not like a normal headache; It feels like a pressure feeling inside of my head. It comes and goes, but when it starts it's pretty persistant and can take several days to go away? I was almost starting to wonder if I had a brain tumor? Anyone else experience these symptoms?

I was perscribed Reglan to counteract stomach discomfort while taking a strong third course of antibiotics for a persistant sinus infection. I generally felt fine before taking Reglan, exept for the general sinus infection symptoms. So, after taking the dose of Reglan, I went to the store to do some shopping. While walking down the aisle, my eyes rolled up inside my head. I though I was going nuts and could not understand why I could not look down - kept trying with all my might to move my eyes down, but they wouldn't. I carefully drove home (very nearby) and went to bed - it was VERY painful, as my eyes went all the way up and I could no longer see. 4 hours later, I was fine, but hadn't realized that the Reglan was the cause until I took the second dose and went through another 4 hours of hell.
A neurologist has since told me not to take compazine either, since people who have this severe of a reaction to Reglan may have it with compazine, too.
Another note - Went to the ER recently with severe abdominal pain (turned out to be due to Vioxx!), and noted in the chart that I was allergic to Reglan. Once in an ER bed, a nurse came at me with a needle. I asked what it was, she said, "Just something to help with your tummy". I asked more stongly again what it was, and she said Reglan. I told her to check my chart first - I'm allergic.
** If you are somseone with allergies or reaction to meds - ALWAYS ASK WHAT YOU ARE BEING GIVEN, or make sure someone is with you who can!! **
I can't imagine what would've happened if I had let her give me that shot...

Sometimes feels like a pressure on my lungs and dizzy too. If any one has this and has stopped taking lisinipril, then feels better Please let me know so I can save money by not going to a CARDIOLOGIST for the chest pain

I had mirena inserted today and I feel awful. The pain was worse then labor, and I had drug free labor and births. My husband literally had to carry from the car to the house. I wish I would have found this site before today. Do any of you know if I can have it removed as soon as tomorrow? After reading all the horrible experiences, I am to paranoid to keep it in. Thanks for any input.
