I am totally upset by reading the posts here. my son is just now 8 months old. he was put on singulair when he was just 6 months old. at first it seemed to be working...for maybe 2 weeks...then everything went crazy. he was started out on it when his pediatrician stated that he had asthma and apparently was on a very high dosage of it. they started him on 10 mg of the oral granules. before taking it he was a very happy baby, even with him being so young i never had any problems with him crying excessively or being massively irritated. since he started on the medication he has had massive irritability spells, constant fussing and crying and cant seem to fall asleep at night let alone stay asleep very long. i had taken him to the emergency room on christmas eve because a new problem showed up. he now was having a massive hard time breathing, he had a persistant cough, congestion in his chest and was almost always gasping for air. the staff at the hospital were in disbelief when they were informed that his pediatrician had put him on singulair at such a young age and at such a high dosage. i am now in the process of obtaining a lawyer and filing a lawsuit against the pediatrician for medical malpractice. this drug is very dangerous for anyone especially children. i would suggest anyone else having these problems with their child and this drug do the same. it can apparently cause long term lung damage, pulmonary disorders and even death. my son has been off of the medication since christmas eve and has already done a massive turn around. he sleeps well and through the night again, his breathing has improved and his cough is almost gone. they did say in the E.R that he has congestion in his chest due to the singulair but it should clear up over time with the help of zyrtec. please help make a stand and protect our children from the dangers our own pediatricians present to them.

I came across this site purely by entering "swollen red foot and kidney pain" into my search engine, imagine my shock when up came a site listing kidney pain and lisinopril!! I have been taking lisinopril for about 7 months now and as I had no adverse side effects in the first week carried on popping my "little lifesaver" no questions asked. Over the last 3 months I have experienced kidney pain to the extent that I was beginning to think I would pass a kidney stone! dry persistent cough, sleeplessness which means I am up at all hours throughout the night and catnapping (when I can) during the day, nausea ,stomach pain and headache!! The swollen foot I don't think I can attribute to the lisinopril....but who knows? I appreciate that in medicine we use various "poisons" as cures and remedies for illness, but when I read of the side effects that so many people are experiencing and am able to see a definite link to the ones I am experiencing then I start to wonder ....the good thing is that this drug and I take 10mg daily has reduced my B.P to a rather good level.....but I have decided to stop taking it for a few days to see whether my symptoms stop and have made an appointment to discuss this treatment with my G.P as a matter of urgency!! Thanks...Jill xx Oh almost forgot to add the incessant itching as well!!

Like a lot of others, I have a dry, persistant cough that keeps me awake at night. I also feel like I have a lump in my throat and am constantly trying to clear it although there's nothing there. I also have a severe headache since taking this drug one week ago, and stopped taking Lisinopril as of today.

By the third day with these pills I had horrible stomach pains, vomiting, diarrehea, dizziness, and a headache. The meds were only given to me to treat a persistant cough but now I've been really sick for two days

What a treat this site is. Like so many others I too have been experiencing many systoms mentioned on this site. After reading the first 4 pages I can tell you my last lisinopril pill was last night, the rest of the bottled is headed for the garbage.I have the persistant cough that has driven me crazy, they put me on allergy medication for that which of course didn't do anything for the cough. I've been getting the severe headaches and the only way to discribe them is to say they are flash headaches, they are there in a flash, not a slow ache building up to a migraine type of headache, just "bang" it's there. I have the joint aching systoms as well and now will quit blaming it on turning 60 and place the blame on the pills. Thank you all for the information.

Thank goodness I've found this site!! I have been on Lisinopril for a few months for high bp and it appears to be controlling it quite well. It was 160/102 at one point but since on the med last reading at docs was 114/88 whcih is quite a significant drop. Having said that I was not feeling good due to a terrible persistant cough, bringing up phlem and feel as if my throat was raw and a feeling that something is sticking in the side of my throat. This feeling actually changes from side to side of my throat...one day on the left side another day the right side. Also I have been experiencing terrible sweating. I also have thyroid problems so the extreme tiredness I have put down to that as they are still trying the get the right balance of medication for that. After reading the posts on this site I think the majority of my problems are down to the Lisinopril and not my thyroid. Can anyone tell me are there any safe blood pressure lowering meds out there that down't have side effects?? I have to visit my Doctor again this week and at the moment feel like stopping the tabs right now. Last night after coming on this site for the first time I sat and cried as I had been so worried and worked up about my symptoms and that dosn't help your blood pressure to come down!!

I STARTEDD TAKING EFFEXOR FOR DEPRESSION BY TAKING 75MG. THEN I WAS UPPED TO150MG. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO INCREASE MY ENERGY LEVELS. I QUIT TAKING EFFEXOR 150 LAST THURSDAY(7/14/05)BY FRIDAY I WAS FEELING DIZZY BY SATURDAY I WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH BALANCE AND JOLT'S TO MY HEAD. I HAD A BAD HEADACHE AND TROUBLE WALKING STRAIGHT. I WENT ONLINE TO SEE WHAT THE SIDE EFFECT'S WERE FOR THIS DRUG AND WAS VERY SURPRISED TO SEE THAT A WHOLE LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE GOING THRU THE SAME THING. MY DOCTOR NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT THE SIDE EFFECTS OR HOW ADDICTIVE THE DRUG WAS FOR IF SHE (THE DOCTOR)HAD,I WOULD NEVER HAD STARTED THEM FOR DEPRESSION. ONE OF THE OTHER THINGS I HAVE DEVELOPED WAS A PERSISTANT COUGH THAT AT TIMES WOULD END IN A COUGHING JAG AND I WOULD THROW UP. I DIDN'T DO THIS BEFORE THE PILL.
I HAVE NOW BEEN OFF THEM FOR 4 DAYS AND IT'S BEEN HELL BUT I AM FEELING BETTER. FOR ME COLD TURKEY IS THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET OFF. IF THERE IS A CLASSACTION LAW SUIT GOING I WOULD LIKE TO BE A PART OF THAT.
CONTACT ME PLEASE.

Thank you so much for this site. I thought I was losing my mind. Rapid heart rate, twitching in the muscles in my arms, persistant cough, headaches, no energy at all and depression even though I am on Lexapro for it. I didn't think that my BP was even high enough to be put on this medication. I will be asking for something else.
